I haven't been to a Cracker Barrel in years. My husband probably more than a decade since his last visit as they didn't have any open locations where he was living before. We both had the thought to go so we did. We were satisfied with just about everything we got. We shared breakfast as I can't eat very much in a sitting. The food was hot and fresh, our server was one of the best I've had! She was incredibly attentive and friendly. It wasn't super crowded for a mid-morning on the weekend. Service was good. The waitresses were nice and friendly and took our orders quickly. The restaurant itself was nice and country theme. The decor was fun to look at and the store front was fun to explore. The food was mid. Kids got scramble eggs and regular hashbrown (which has an up charge. Not sure why regular hashbrowns will cost more but it's fine) and mini pancakes & bacon. They enjoyed it & it was a good size for them. For the adults...Not sure if the chef was having a bad day or not but everything seemed overly salted. I got the steak and eggs and the steak was super seasoned and had more salt than expected on it. Don't get me wrong, when it came out, it looked amazing but fell short when I ate it. After a few bites, I was more thirsty than anything. The ham on the breakfast platter my husband ordered was not edible because it was salty as heck. The sausage patty was ok and edible. The hashbrown casserole was ok too. The biscuit and cornbread seemed salty too when we tried it. I'm not sure if that's how it's supposed to taste but yeah, way too much sodium in my opinion. The pancakes were ok. I hate when an old classic that's supposed to give me the warm and fuzzy, let's me down, instead. Can you pass an inspection with layers of dust all over the shelves and flying cobwebs in the wind? I guess so. The boutique has so many cute overpriced items that I can find at half the cost across the street at Ross or Walmart. The food was overcooked served by staff who didn't seem to care, like really an empty butter bowl is a hint that something is missing. We were not asked if we needed anything else after getting our food, which i wanted ketchup and had to wait for someone to walk by so i can get it. Food was mediocre. I ordered the southern fried chicken with two sides. The two sides I ordered were steak fries and grits. The chicken portion to batter ratio was significant, there was a lot of batter compare to the chicken meat. The chicken is super salty! The grits were bland. The fries were the best thing. Another friend ordered the battered cat fish, which was bland and had no flavor. My group ordered gravy, and we had to order it 3 times before it came. This is the first time I've been to Cracker Barrel's in about 20 some years it was around 4:30 PM. We're a party of four. I ordered from the breakfast menu,It's served all day. I had the steak and eggs. Sorry to say the steak I had was pretty chewy. I ordered it medium. My wife had ordered the same and her steak was very chewy too. Everybody else food was good. The rustic and country style decor is entertaining, and the service was again equally friendly and efficient as we remembered from the other places. This time, I ordered a New York Strip and shrimp combo, which was juicy and flavorful, the steak prepared to medium exactly as I wanted. For years, this has been the place to get pancakes in my opinion as I love the way they prepare them. They added impossible sausage to the menu, which I love and have been ordering more from this chain. They have delivery via ubereats, so I even order to my office though this location was my first stop after de boarding my longer flight (from Florida). Nice to get breakfast and always enjoy Cracker Barrel, though the service was pretty slow at this location hence the 4 star. SENTRY - WATCHING RESTAURANTS Cracker Barrel 1007 Dobson Road Mesa, AZ Having never visited Cracker Barrel I availed myself of the opportunity on a Sunday afternoon. We were seated immediately upon our arrival. The place is decorated in early americana with antiques on all the walls. Unfortunately, this gave hard surfaces which make the restaurant somewhat noisy and difficult to hear conversations. It had been decided in advance to try a number of dishes to get a good idea of the food and service. First on the list was Beignets. I hate to use the word awful, but it is the only appropriate word to use. Instead of light, airy balls of crisp dough, these were gooey flat triangles of raw, uncooked dough. After eating one each, we sent them back. Next were Fried Pickles. They were served with a ranch sauce and were quite good. This was followed by main dishes. Companion ordered the Classic Country Sampler. It came with Meatloaf and Crispy Homestyle Chicken as well as Fried Apples and Hashbrown Casserole. The Chicken was a breast that was moist, and the coating was crispy. The Meatloaf was cooked around the edges, but the center was cold and uncooked chopped meat. Companion said the food was bland and lukewarm. I ordered Country Fried Steak which came with three sides. They were Fried Apples, Grits, and Turnip Greens with Ham. The steak was nice and hot, though bland and the addition of lots of pepper and some salt saved it. Fried Apples were hot and tasty. Grits were barely warm and was unable to melt the butter I put on it and the greens had far too much shredded ham in it and would have been marked down on flavor and temperature though it was partially saved by the addition of Trappey's Vinegar Hot Sauce served with it. Last was a basket of rolls and cornbread. The cornbread could not melt the butter we tried to put on it and was absolutely dry. I'm not sure how they have avoided the health department inspector serving food that was undercooked and or not at serving temperature. 2 stars for good service and cleanliness. read more

This was my first time at Cracker Barrel and it did not disappoint! Nice and big and spacious and their gift shop had a lot of very cute holiday decorations! We got sat right away on a busy Sunday. Our server was great and was on top of everything. The game was back on the table and all was well. The food was a bit tepid but overall still good. My husband and I have been here far too many times. We LOVE Cracker Barrel. From amazing breakfast, to amazing dinner, Cracker Barrel has it all. We usually love Cracker Barrel but this last visit we kinda felt deceived. My daughter & I came in for a quick bite. My daughter ordered the kids Mac and cheese meal (which includes a kids drink (soda) in the price.) I ordered my meal as well. We asked if they had rootbeer to drink & Stacey H. said yes, so we both ordered rootbeers. When she came back with our rootbeers she handed up 2 Stewart's BOTTLED rootbeers (they were open already so we couldn't send them back & since they were glass bottles it was obvious we couldn't get refills like we would have gotten with another soda choice.) Plus when we got out check we were upcharged for both of our drinks (even though my daughter was supposed to get a free fountain drink.) I don't expect we should have been comped for my daughter's drink BUT I do think it was deceptive on Stacey H's part as a server to not let us know that the rootbeer was bottled, we wouldn't be able to get refills like all the other soda options, AND we were in fact going to get charged for a kids drink (which was supposed to be included in my daughter's meal.) Kinda felt shady like she did it just to make our bill a little bigger or because she didn't want to bother with getting us refills. Twice they couldn't take credit or debit because their systems were down. Not worth the hassle there are other places to eat at with out the issues. Decided to come here for breakfast with my husband on our day off. Service was great, the waitress was very attentive, and checked on us several times. Love the atmosphere, so many cool things on the walls to look at. I ordered the value pancake meal, which comes with 2 pancakes, and 2 eggs any style(I got mine sunny side up). I always love going to Cracker Barrel because of the friendly service, good food and of course the country store! This location did not disappoint! Everything was incredible except the biscuits as they seem a tad dry. I like that the chicken wasn't drowned in gravy. The chicken was actually thick and juicy. I wish they gave more of the hash brown casserole, that was sooo good. We also got a side order of the pancakes. I'm normally not a pancake person but it was fluffy and delicious! They give you these small bottles of syrup for it and it's not super sweet. The half lemonade/tea was good too as it seems like freshly squeezed lemonade or lemonade with pulp. I feel like everyone has eaten at this chain. You walk into a "country store," which is filled with really cool stuff. Today they had a small amount of Halloween stuff, and lots of Christmas stuff. This is a great place to get gifts!On busy days, the rocking chairs on the porch are filled with people waiting for a table, but being a weekday, we were seated immediately. My son and I stopped in for breakfast and had the nicest, most helpful young man. I couldn't decide on a meal because they are all so big, so he walked me through the menu. I usually get a craving for CB once every five-to-ten years and I guess it was about that time. On a Saturday night, I found myself coming here with my gal pal. I ended up getting the special of the day of Country Fried Pork Chops (Two fried pork chops in gravy. Served with two Country Sides, and Buttermilk Biscuits or Corn Muffins). I also got one of their $6 Take Home Meals. They were both good, although I wish I got the Chicken Fried Steak instead. It was a pleasant dinner. I have gotten food poisoning twice from this location. The first time, the manager admitted to my husband that the Cole slaw was out of date by 1 day. The second time, I'm not sure what it was- I had a grilled chicken salad. We had to pull off the road 4 times on the drive home (about 45 minutes) This last time was definitely a better experience otherwise than we have had in the past. I don't think there are many restaurant chains that are as consistently well run as the Cracker Barrel. Always get friendly, courteous service and great food. This location is no exception. So on this trip we purposely made sure we came on Sunday for the Sunday Homestyle chicken special, although I believe they will serve it on any day now. We shared it and still took some home for later. As sides we ordered the loaded sweet potato which has a small upcharge and the dumplings. My wife also ordered the Barrel bites so it was way too much food even though there were four of us sharing the cheese bites and fried pickles. The cheese bites are amazing and I want to try loaded hash brown tots the next time we come here.
