I liked observing the team interaction at this location. Three women in the kitchen, all communicating well and respectful of each other's space. A personable store manager working the register with a big smile on his face as he greeted guests. I love that they offer several teas and lemonades in addition to sodas from the fountain. The cucumber limeade is so refreshing! I've had burgers a couple of times, great flavor and toppings, but my go-to is the salads with chicken and those fantastic tempura green beans. read more

It's been awhile since we have stopped at habit burger and now I am wondering if maybe there is a reason why. We received a coupon in the mail and decided hey let's try it again. Let's just say we were highly disappointed. The gentleman who took our order wasn't personable at all and staff were arguing with each other over who had their break yet and who didn't. Customers were waiting 30 minutes for their food, they were running insanely behind. On top of that, the double char burger tasted like chemicals. I had my wife try it without telling her just to see what she would say. We both agreed something was off. The second burger had some gristle in it, which clearly tells me their meat quality isn't the best. Immediately turned me off and I couldn't eat it. We also had the chicken club and onion rings. Those were the only saving grace of the meal. The bread was a little extra toasted, but I will take that over soggy bread any day. Habit Burger and Grill have a few locations around the Phoenix metropolitan. The location I occasionally visit is in Tempe on Guadalupe and McClintock as it's near my work. This location has been consistently good since I first tried it 10 years ago. The counter employees are always friendly and helpful when inquiring about menu items. The interior is well-lit and has always been clean. The wait times for your food is typically 10min unless there's a big crowd and then it may be up to 15min. The main drawback is there's limited indoor seating and no good seating option inside for a party larger than 4. There's a about a half-dozen tables for 1 or 2 and a half-dozen tables for 4. The menu consists of burgers, chicken, salads and sides. The chicken club is currently my favorite menu option- it includes bacon, avocado, lettuce, tomato, mayo (that I keep off!) on grilled sourdough. Their burgers are also good but *warning* if you don't like onion you'll want to ask them to cook it separate as the grilled onions are cooked right next to the patties and everything tastes of onion. Their fries and sides are just ok. They do have tempura green beans and sweet potato fries if you want a break from regular fries and rings. This location has a Pepsi fountain. As I'm not fond of most Pepsi products, I typically get one of their drinks from the dispensers. They typically have two types of tea, lemonade and several limeades (dragonfruit is delicious if you can tolerate a very sweet drink). The prices are competitive with most other fast-casual burger spots, but the food, service and selection is just a little better here. read more

I come here from time to time when I want to get a burger that's better than regular fast food but not as expensive as a restaurant. Today they were celebrating their 54th birthday so they had a great offer! Donate $1 to their charity and spend $5 and get a Double Char Burger for free! It's like buying a drink and a side and the burger is thrown in! I was surprised with how quick they were getting people through given the fact that they were much busier than normal, of course. Plus everyone was very nice and the service was great. There were lots of people sitting in the booths and tables and everyone seemed to be pretty happy, plus the restaurant was still nice and clean even with the extra business. I ordered a total of 5 burgers and some fries with 3 of the burgers being FREE! It was awesome and I appreciated it given our economy and the price of things these days. This place is disgusting. Terrible. The dirtiest restaurant I had ever been too. Peppers on the ground, dirty tables that weren't cleaned the whole 45 minutes I was there. Rags laying out next to the napkins. The employees were rude and one of the girls, petite black hair was super rude and seemed to be high and hadn't any clue what was going on. The cooks were messing around touching each other. But the worst thing I saw, was one of the employees wearing yes, SWEATPANTS WITH FLIP FLOPS!!!!! SWEATPANTS AND OPEN TOED SHOES making herself a milkshake that I'm sure she didn't pay for. It took the manager like 10 minutes just to figure out how to ring up my simple order. Whaddit Dew Peeps?! Today I pulled up on Habit Burger & Grill to grab some lunch ~ Once I entered I found there was a line, but I also found a couple of those lil' Kiosk thingys... Score! I jumped on one of those, ordered my meal, got a receipt sent to my phone and took a seat... Whilst I was watin'... it hit me... Normally I don't use those Kiosk thingys and order at the counter (where they give you one of those lil' square buzzy thingys that light up when your food is ready)... I kinda figured that my phone might light up, or buzz me, since it did when I got my receipt, but it did not. After about 15mins, I went up to the counter and found my food all trayed up and ready to go. Not sure how long it had been sitting there..? Not sure if they called for me and I missed it..? Atmosphere - When we arrived, there was a lot of people inside both in a line and sitting down waiting for their orders. While there, quite a few more people arrived. There was a good amount of tables and chairs in the restaurant. Some booths available. Temperature inside was good. Not hot or cold. I have been to some places where it's been hot. Patio. It was in the front with a nice little shade screen. I did not visit the restroom. Food - We had the char burger with cheese and fries. The fries were fine. The char burger bun was burned on the inside. I saw a picture from another Yelper just now and mine looked the same. I forgot to take a picture of the inside of the burned bun. I had to throw the bun away it was so bad. We had to wait over an hour for our food and people who ordered after us got their food first. I even checked on the status of our food while waiting after I noticed others getting their food ahead of me. I am a little worried because I saw on Yelp just now that they have a health rating of C. That doesn't sound good. Yelp has a little health rating score on the information section of their website for restaurants. Service - There were at least three employees. One was a cook. The service here was strange. Ordering was okay, but the food came out extremely slowly. After ordering, they give you an electronic coaster that vibrates to let you know when you can pick up your food at the counter. You can get pepperocinis and other condiments around the right hand side where the soda machines are located. We found our own seats and sat down after ordering at the register. I saw a guy who had ordered for take out. He was also waiting a long time for his food. It took so long he bought a drink cup at the register to fill with soda from the soda machine to drink while he waited. Parking - The restaurant was located inside of a shared lot. Was crowded during peak hours. No parking meters or parking structures. A parking structure with solar panels on top or trees would be nice. Otherwise, no shaded spots available. I wanted a burger but decided to switch it up and try a Santa Monica's burger which comes on a sour dough bread instead of a regular bun. It was very filling and I'm glad I only got a single patty instead of a double because I was stuffed off just half of my meal. Everything was fresh and delicious. I still love Habit Burger, but after many purchases over the years, I feel like I should write an update, at least for this location. I'm not sure if this applies to the franchise as a whole or just this location because it's the only one we visit Lets start with the good.. The food - still great. Great fast food burgers. and there is a little more variety in the sides than other chains. tempura green beans are good and the ranch used/made by Habit is really good. Customizability - Habit actually has several types of buns/bread and two kinds of vegetarian protein substitutes The bad though.. Taking delivery - We usually order food for carry out. It has become a running joke to see what Habit forgot this time. Is there avocado on the Santa Barbara (which comes standard)? Did they include ranch for the onion rings? Did they forget the gummies in the kids meal? Did they forget to give the drinks and I had to ask for them during pick up? We have made more than one trip back (we live close) to get missing items. The App - The app is nice and easy to use, however there's many customization options that are absent or difficult inside the app. for example, you cannot change the bun type on some sandwiches, but you can on others. Same with substituting a veggie or Impossible patty. This is all easy to do when ordering in-person but is not easy, or often impossible to do through the app. We now avoid using the app if possible and just accept that it's better to just order in person and wait... but.... New in 2024! when you walk in to this location, you find yourself face-to-face with kiosks running the app. The idea here is obviously to get you to order the food yourself instead of interacting with a human, no doubt to reduce the needed staff in the long-run. If you navigate the maze of kiosks you can eventually get to a human to order. Having never worked in fast food, here's my two suggestions for making this location MUCH better.. Firstly, Corporate needs to upgrade the app to include more of the customizations. Spend the money and get the app updated. Secondly, when assembling the orders, the staff needs to pay more attention to make sure they are putting EVERYTHING ordered into the bags. Forgetting sauces, drinks, kids gummies, etc. just ding the experience every time. Fix the consistency issues in the app and in the franchise locations. read more

The restaurant is clean and they offer a kiosk to order your own meal but they also have someone at the register to help you order. We enjoy the minimal interaction needed to eat here. There are times when you just want to order, eat, leave and you can get that here. You are able to customize your burger easily. Our food came out warm, the sourdough bun on my veggie burger was toasty, the charburger, fries and onion rings were crispy- we ordered a second order of onion rings. After 13 years, this location is still serving tasty burgers. It has been a while since I've stopped by for burgers here. In fact it's been years since I don't live in the area. I ordered fries and their char burger: lettuce, pickles, tomato, mayo with grilled onions. No cheese for I wanted to taste the meat without any distractions. :) The beef was grilled to a nice medium, the lettuce was crisp and the fries were tasty. My hubby ordered the vegetarian burger. Stopped to grab a quick lunch and as always, we found the store clean and the staff friendly. There were some repair workers behind the counter and I wondered about their direct contact with the food prep but didn't really see any reason to worry. We both got the original char burger with cheese, which is the best charred burger covered with mayo, lettuce, pickles, tomato, and caramelized onions. A great, messy burger! Also shared onion rings and fries...love their crispy onion rings that don't pull the whole onion out with a bit. The coating is crispy and tasty. Had to splurge with the mocha shake. Yelp sent out their "Top 25 Burger Chains" list last week and Habit Burger was number 2 so I just had to try it. I was especially looking forward to the Portabella Char. My wife and I went in last Saturday night. First, they didn't have the Portabella on the menu. My wife wanted a vegi burger, they didn't have that either. We both opted for the Teriyaki Char with cheese. My wife's showed up with pickles on it in addition to the teriyaki sauce, pineapple and cheese. Totally destroys the taste adding pickles to pineapple and teriyaki. This was an epic fail in my opinion. Well, the home made lemonade was good, so one star. read more

I didn't receive my food until over half an hour of me waiting there and they didn't message me like they said they were. I came here recently and didn't notice the uncooked chicken until it raw too late. I emailed customer support right away and said I had a photo that I felt was uncooked chicken and was worried, I never got a reply unfortunately. It was concerning to see the employees more focused on talking to each other about non work topics than focusing on watching the cook time of the meat. I was pleasantly surprised recently when deciding to stop in for my first-ever try of the Habit Burger Grill for my weekly fast-food joint hit. Very surprised! Their burgers are really char-broiled, and they taste it. Plus, they are not overcooked and tasteless. My first-ever try was the #1 Original Charburger with Fries and a soda. Pretty darn good... it reminds me of years ago offerings at Burger King. The meat tender, actually juicy, properly seasoned and not overcooked! The toppings are fresh and flavorful. Glad to see I'm not the only one. Came in the 6th of December ordered a Charburger and a chicken sandwich. Lady who took my order handed me my order. What I received was the charburger and a burger with everything that was supposed to be in the chicken sandwich that I didn't receive..I was real hungry so I didn't complain..I thought it was just a one off. Came in today December 16 to see if things have changed. I walk up to the register..there was no hi how are you doing today.. just are you here for online pickup from the same lady from before. This time she looked annoyed that I would dare order from a register not a kiosk. She seemed overwhelmed.What brought me in today was an app promo..To not be a burden to her I asked if I could put the promo on the kiosk which she replied no..I really feel this location is understaffed. I ordered 2 charburgers and was asked if I wanted everything which I said yes..Upon receiving my order she hands me the order and in disbelief they messed up my order again..she tried giving me two burgers that had ketchup mustard and pickles with cheese. I asked her if these were the right burgers she then replied you did order everything. Unless things have changed ..I've never had a stock char come with ketchup mustard. I was so lost. No apologies all she had to say was you can order those if you would like. Huh? They did fix the order. I believe she was the shift manager " Lord help us ". There is a real lack of leadership and training at this location and the lack of morale is very apparent with every team member you interact with there. Ordered on their app. Quoted a 9 minute wait. I arrived and after waiting 15 minutes I verified I was at least in the system and they were making my order. Another 16 minutes go by and I tell them I need to cancel. They apologize for being short staffed and asked me to write my info on a receipt, and that they would refund me within 5-7 business days. Several other customers gave up waiting as well and sought refunds. If we had ever received our sandwiches, they would have been accompanied by our cold sides which had been ready and waiting to go for the past 10 minutes. Atrocious. Can't blame the underpaid, understaffed and under trained teenage workforce. Management at this restaurant left them hung out to dry. I started going here about a year and a half ago with my boyfriend because he's from AZ/CA and thinks Habit is good because he's been eating it for decades. In the last year, we've had slow, unhappy and incompetent service. Then, they made it even more unwelcoming by adding kiosk ordering. The food is always way over salted. Well, the other day to my delight, you went over the line with my boyfriend by switching from Coke to Pepsi and charging for ranch. He finally realized the food is gross too. Thank you so much for becoming worse than you already were. If anyone wants a good burger at an "upper scale" fast food joint, go to Culver's or Portillo's. I'm used to far better food and service from Habit locations I've visited frequently. This particular location has been on a steady decline for the last 2 years. The service and efficiency if the kitchen staff has always been slow, but this last visit was exceptionally awful. The girl working the front counter seemed lost and untrained for her position. Her lack of awareness for anyone needing help was worrisome. The kitchen staff consisted of two people (1 guy and 1 girl) who also looked like they got trained that day and were likely high during the process. After several trips to the counter to see where our food was, I noticed that the girl in the kitchen was struggling to figure out how to fry chicken fingers and stood there laughing about it with her glassy red eyes. 45 minutes later we got our food. Skimpy servings of tempura green beans, undercooked fries and chicken fingers. My chicken club sandwich was cold and dry as was my wife's. Since we were in between work and our kids Spring concert, we had very little time to shove our food down before we had to leave. This is not the quality nor service I'm accustomed to from The Habit and I hope that this review sends a message to the management/ownership of this particular location. I've been a long time customer of The Habit ever since growing up in Southern California and surfing the coast of Ventura Santa Barbara Counties. Do better. Hire better. Please! read more
