Rye 2 Eggs Any Style with Toast
    Christine T.

We went for breakfast and I had two eggs over easy, rye toast and hash browns, and my husband had the green chile omelet. The service was amazing and it is a really cute old school type diner. We enjoyed it thoroughly. We will be back.

LOVE this place and the vibes!! An authentic American style diner that hasn't been touched since the 90's. Makes me feel like a kid again going out to eat with my grandparents. Food is AMAZING and comforting. Service is great and prices are unbeatable. Wish I could eat here everyday!!

Went here on the way out of town and it was exactly what we needed! It was Sunday morning but still seat yourself, fast friendly service. Cute diner ambiance! We all got breakfast and enjoyed it! Biscuits are nice and soft! Great little place if you are in the area! Easy parking and clean bathroom!

Since finding out about this breakfast diner, we have gone here multiple times per month for the last year. Every time we come and bring friends or family we have a great time. The coffee is strong, the service is friendly and quick, and the food is very reasonably priced with good portions. We really appreciate going to this spot on the weekend and seeing the friendly staff. I always get the chicken fried steak and eggs and my wife gets either French toast, pancakes, the specials, or the breakfast sandwich and seems to enjoy them all. We have always had a great experience at Jim's!

This is our nearby diner. It's not at all fancy but it's exactly what I want when we go for breakfast. The food is tasty and the staff is friendly. We had 6 of us and easily found a table for us. This is the kind of place that has regulars who've been coming for years. Quiet and relaxed place with easy parking, very no fuss. Large portions. We shared the Hungry Man breakfast- 3 eggs, 3 bacon, 3 sausage, hash browns, 2 pancakes, and a side of biscuits & gravy. All my faves.

I am a fan of old school diners and this location does not disappoint the staff her is friendly but all business. I especially enjoyed the yellow counter chairs, boy it reminds me of places I ate when I was a kid in the 70s and early 80s. I ordered coffee, eggs over medium, sausage links, and white toast. The coffee was very good and leaned to the strong side. The eggs were perfect, the sausage exceptional in taste, and the hashbrown ms were expertly cooked. The toast was on the more well done side but that didn't bother me. All in all a perfect breakfast!

Looks deceiving from the outside, but decided to give this place to try and food is amazing. They have a lot of options. Coffee is great. Staff is friendly. Recommend this place 100%.

Amazing diner, can be a bit slow service when busy but come relax and take a beat with this south Scottsdale staple!

I got here early and it's not too far a walk from home. It's a cozy atmosphere with nice people who serve and regulars who know what they want before the cook takes orders. I appreciate the diner style bar seating. I took my green chili omelette, applesauce, and bagel to go. They welcome dogs. I think I reviewed this place before, if not here it is. They have great coffee as well!

Ask the Community - Jim's Coney Island Cafe

Do they use Kogel Viennas? And would you call that the Detroit style chili?

No. You can't get a Detroit coney in the Phoenix area. I've been trying to for 45 yrs. You can go to Michigan market in mesa and buy kogels Viennas and the chili sauce.

We have a former work place group that tries new breakfast places every so often. We tried Harlows and were amazed to find dinner prices for breakfast. Charging $20 for Huevos Rancheros (no meat), $21 for a very average chorizo egg plate and $20 for a very average hamburger is charging uptown prices for a very old cramped place of business. Lucky that someone at the table found a flyer for "early bird" specials that we ordered from. One egg, one bacon and potatoes for $8.50. One in our part had pancakes. We felt we had escaped without breakig the bank but still hungry. Apologies to all you long time Tempe residents who know the owner and have been going there for ages, but I don't and won't.

We also ordered the jambalaya, and while the flavors were decent, it was on the drier side and didn't quite have the rich, saucy consistency I was hoping for. Overall, the food was okay, but I think the atmosphere is what really makes Welcome Diner stand out. I'd definitely come back to enjoy the cute retro vibes and try a few other things on the menu. Sometimes the setting is just as much a part of the experience as the food, and this place definitely has personality. Cute atmosphere, good service, and a fun vibe. We both ordered medium rare prime rib, and we both got medium well instead. They told us that was as rare as they had. I think it was cold and was reheated in the microwave to warm it back up again. The dinner came with 2 sides, but because it was not 4pm yet they didn't have any baked potatoes ready yet, so country red skins were the next best thing along with the green beans. The potatos were decent, but the green beans were canned and mushy. The salad was lettuce, 2 tomatos, 2 cucumber slices, and some shredded carrots. Their ranch dressing was decent, but I maybe got about a half of a tablespoon. The one thing both of us loved was their cornbread muffins. They were delicious, and I even thought about bringing home some extras because they were that good. The service was quick, but maybe a little too quick. I hadn't even finished putting the dressing on my salad when dinner came out. I still like this place for breakfast, but I don't think we'll be back for dinner again.
