FEAR FACTOR-Y I fear if you come here, you might not like it. Stopped in around 11pm on a Sunday night because it was one of the only places in the area that was open if you didn't choose to go with fast food. It was busy with customers at that time of night, surprisingly, maybe due to the fact they cornered the late-night eatery niche. The gentlemen taking the order was friendly. But I don't know if they were caught at a bad time because they were not prepared for the influx of customers. The worker could not even take an order for 15 minutes because they were backed up trying to cook and finish existing orders. The worker did let the crowd know that it would take a while before we could order. Once we ordered, then it took another 20 minutes to get the food. Was it worth the wait? No, sorry. SHAWARMA FRIES- They must have been using old oil, fries were a dark and unpleasant grease bombs. The meat in shawarma was not great. To me it lacked the spices and seasoning and was underwhelming. It was basically Carne Asada without spices. All it was was meat and fries which came with a cream sauce on the side. It could have used some tomato or greens or pickled veg to brighten up dish. It was just heavy and greasy and one-note. I would not order this again. FALAFELS were much the same. Dark and almost burnt, crunchy, hockey pucks, except they were ring-shaped, I think to allow an efficient, even cook, so why were they over-cooked? HUMMUS was pretty decent, creamy and smooth, I wouldn't mind buying this by the cup. It's a shame that the pita bread was so generic, it did not do the hummus justice. The rice also tasted generic. Nothing really felt authentic here. The place needs some detail cleaning really badly. There is dust all over the furniture and decor and it was unappetizing. The bathrooms smelled like a hobo encampment. The tidiness was scary. The friendly staff and hummus is all they really had going for them on my visit. It would be hard for me to comeback unless they really do an overhaul of their restaurant. read more

Plenty of delicious food is what you will get here. The portions are hefty and enough for two servings. I felt like I was back in the Mediterra nean countries while eating the food here because they give so much. The young guy who took my order and cooked the food had amazing customer service. He was very polite. And he knows how to cook. The presentation of the food was beautiful. I almost didnt want to eat it not to meas it up, but I was too hungry for that ;) I ordered the Chicken Saj sandwich which was very good. I had to look at their website to figure out which sandwich I had planned to order because one of the menu screens was broken. My sister and I were the only ones there dining in. Everyone else that came in picked up food to go. So it was quiet and a little warm inside but the young guy let the shades down to help minimoze the sunlight shining in. I've visited Shawarma Factory twice now already and I've ordered the same thing. The Fire Fire Gyro with Fries and my experience both times were completely different.. The first time I had it was an absolute knockout--generous portions of gyro meat packed into a perfectly balanced sandwich, bursting with flavor and satisfaction. If every visit were like that, I'd be a regular for life. However, the second time wasn't quite the same. A different cook prepared my meal, and the gyro felt noticeably lacking in meat, which took away from the indulgent experience I loved so much the first time. We happened to be in the area on Saturday night doing some shopping and decided to grab a bite. Weren't really sure what we wanted so we drove around a little bit and decided to head down College and stumbled onto the Shawarma factory. It's towards the end of the street clustered with a couple of other restaurants, including a West Indian spot. Parking is a bit dicey in this area with temporary 30 minute parallel parking available in the front. We were lucky to find something but I would imagine on any regular weekend night especially if there's a game in the stadium you are not going to find parking easily so keep that in mind. The restaurant was well lit with a lot of booths and a couple of tables for seating. We were promptly helped by someone who appeared to be an owner or a long time employee. He was very helpful and explaining the menu to us, giving us a couple of options. I apologize for not remembering the names of the items we ordered but essentially we ordered the beef and chicken sandwiches that are made similar to burritos, with the meat coming from the rotating spits that they have behind the counter. Our cashier walked us through the options with us, with us finally deciding to have him fix it in the traditional, cultural fashion, or better words "as he would eat it" which in this case was tahini pickles and a traditional hot sauce for the chicken version. He gladly complied and I promise you we ended up with a really great sandwich! I prefer the chicken version over the beef, as the chicken was a bit more juicy and flavorful, especially with the hot sauce that they added to it. We also ordered the Greek salad and it was well proportioned, well made and had plenty of cheese which is something that I think sometimes is neglected in Greek salad executions. Overall, this was the classic college food spot that I would've enjoyed when I was in undergrad but I will make up for lost time when I'm in the area the next time I'm down on ASU campus! read more

I tried the fried chicken sandwich with crinkly fries. The fries were seasoned nicely, though they were just a bit overcooked, as was the fried chicken. Normally, I would have gone for a kebab, but I was in the mood for something different today. Next time, I'll definitely be trying the Greek salad and beef kebab! Last time I went here they told me they're changing things up with the menu and under new management. This new management changed everything about the quality of food and the service. The food is not even close to what it used to be. Avoid this place at all costs. The meat quality and quantity is worse. The pita bread is stale. Above all their tzatziki sauce is not tzatziki sauce. They claim it is, but it is something entirely different and doesn't taste good at all. Ordered take out here while on a work trip. They were able to get it ready super quick and the place was clean when I picked up my food. I got the chicken shawarma plate and it was decent. Not a big fan of the humus, it felt a little too burnt tasting somehow. The chicken itself was okay - it was crispy and cooked well, but I think the flavor could have been better. I never give 5 stars unless I'm dreaming about the good days later. This was the best shawarma place I have eaten since a little Syrian spot came up on my radar in Casablanca . It's that good. Here's why I had the vegetarian plate : tabbouleh baba ganoush ( aka bademjoon ) hummus 2 dolmeh and noon, naan,. And falafel. Let me start with the falafel. Crispy like a hush puppy on the outside warm and soft and beautifully seasoned on the inside. The baba ganoush and the hummus were perfectly seasoned, not overly garlicky, but the baba ganoush was softly smoked, paprika and olive oil on the top, The hummus silky smooth. Not overly garlicky but tasting of chick peas( yes!!!). The dolmeh were ice cold( perfect on a warm day) and seasoned well leaving a bit of lemon afterward . The tabbouleh was over salted, but there was a lot of green to barley ratio so that was fine. And you scoop up a bit of tabbouleh with baba ganoush and oh heaven. The decor is about ten banquette tables on the side open to the kitchen. We did not plan on coming here as the place we selected across the street is not longer serving good. Lucky us!!! And the backlava is awesome too!!!! I would have loved a spot of tea with backlava but then that would have been pure heaven, or what's a reach for. Food was definitely fresh. It was still hot by the time my husband got home. Flavor wise however, it was not our favorite. There was a very strong and strange flavor in both the beef and chicken shawarma; a flavor we were definitely unable to identify, and something that in our opinion, did not go well with the shawarma. The "sajj" bread was basically tortilla that was somewhat soggy by the time it got home. Again, not what we were expecting. Fries were ok and the Chicken was better than the beef. The exotic flavors of the East... cinnamon, cloves, allspice, cumin, and that secret "unidentifiable" spice... cardamom, was the signature spice that sets this Shawarma apart from all others in the valley. This beautiful family was from Syria . I love authentic, small family businesses. These are the places where you find the most amazing family recipes. It is near the ASU campus so finding parking make take a few minutes, but we were able to find street parking pretty quickly on the weekend. Make sure to come with some patience because good things take time, and it seemed like everything was made to the order. Service was friendly. We ordered the falafel wrap with fries both times, and it took about 20 minutes to get the food after ordering. They have a great selection of beverages including an international soda that was so refreshing; it was a lemon-mint carbonated drink that comes in a glass bottle - 5 stars for that drink alone. This place is AMAZING. No joke. Family owned, their kids working the register. Rolled in as a 6 top and ordered hummus, baba ghanoush, dharma, kibbeh, falafel, tabbouleh, and everything else.
