    Melt breakfast with chicken added
    Cory P.

We had a great experience. Our waitress was great, quick, friendly, and patience. The food was hot and fresh. I had the breakfast melt add chicken breast, and chili on my hash browns. Orange juice. I'm stuffed. About $20 with tip. Excellent in my opinion. Maybe over did it but I was hungry. My partner got biscuits and Gravy. Both fresh and tasted made in house. We would recommend this joint and hope more people have better experiences here. It's 3am. The crew here is efficient.

Obviously Waffle House isn't traditional fine dining, but there's nothing better than a mid morning Waffle House trip. Next time you think about going, go

We came to this place, granted we shouldve walked away when we saw it from the outside.. but we went in and literally just ordered water and lemonades, and there were BUGS in EVERY. SINGLE. ONE. Then out waffles were undercooked, our sausage and bacon were charcoaled. It was nasty.

a glass of water with ice

The waffle we ordered was raw and left the batter residue on the plate. We ordered 3 lemonades and a water and all 4 had BUGS in THEM!! The sasauge was so dry and i had to spit it out. The place was so incredibly dirty. Do not come here.

Initially I was apprehensive about dining at Waffle House. I heard so many horror stories and read some many bad reviews. I decided a while back to give it try. The menu is very reasonable you can get a meal for under ten bucks if you skip the beverage. The theme and decor is diner style it reminds me of the diners for the 60's. I ordered the double pork chop meal. It is served with two breakfast pork chops, hash-browns, Texas Toast and two eggs any style. I ordered my chops with extra seasoning and selected boiled eggs. The meal is delivered from the grill to your table tempered hot. I usually request a hot to-go cup of water to soak my untensils. I generally get my beverage in a to-go cup as well.

It would save time to not cook jerky. Every time. Now I am speaking up because covid is no longer going to be tolerated on bad quality. I will no longer pay for crap quality.

My husband had an omelette with peppers and bacon, and he really enjoyed it. It was fluffy, generously filled, and cooked just right, with great smoky flavor from the bacon and a nice kick from the peppers. The service was friendly, the food came out quickly, and the whole experience felt warm and welcoming. Definitely a great local spot for a hearty, satisfying meal.

It's a small restaurant with a small open kitchen and a small dining room where you stand in line to place your order, get a number to put on your table, and servers bring the food to your table when it's ready. So, if you're looking for a large upscale, elegant restaurant with elaborate food presentations, this is not the place for you. But if you're looking for a simple, quick and delicious meal, Simple Joe Café is for you. The menu consists of a wide variety of breakfast favorites, but the menu is not intimidating and easy to read and order from. Simple enough. When my family and I arrived, the small dining room was packed with a few open tables and about six other customers in line waiting to place their order. On Saturday and Sunday, you cannot sit at the open tables or hold the tables until you have placed your order and given a tent number. At that point, the servers will help you find a table to accommodate your party. The employees do a very good job of clearing and turning over the tables to make sure everyone is seated and able to enjoy their meal in a timely manner. I am not a fan of breakfast food and normally don't eat breakfast, so I only had coffee while my family enjoyed their meal, so the food quality part of this review is based on what they described as they were eating. They each ordered Joe's Number One Breakfast Combos which came with two eggs, choice of meat and pancakes and they shared an order of hashbrown and a side of grits. The food came out quickly. They stated everything was fresh, prepared and cooked as requested, the food tasted very good and enjoyed every bite. Of course, the coffee was hot, and fresh and the service was fast and friendly. The relaxed ambience and decor add to the unique character of the restaurant. Date of Visit: Saturday 05-16-26 Simple Joe Café | 3057 Government St, Baton Rouge, LA

We ordered two coffees, which came out about 10 minutes later. After that, things went downhill. There was a grandmother with three young grandchildren seated at the table next to us. Their table was directly in the sun, and the metal chairs were literally too hot to sit on. They asked if they could move to one of the 3-4 open booths in the shade. The waitress told them those booths were reserved. The problem? Not a single person sat in those booths during the entire hour and a half we were there. The solution offered to the grandmother was, "Next time, try making a reservation." They ultimately had to leave and find somewhere else to eat. Watching a grandmother and three little kids have to leave because an empty shaded table was being "reserved" was honestly pretty upsetting. Meanwhile, we waited an hour and a half for our food. We ordered an omelet and a breakfast burrito--nothing complicated, no substitutions, and nothing that should reasonably take that long. When the food finally arrived, it was mediocre at best. The overall atmosphere felt less 'charming and quirky' and more like a run-down, cluttered junkyard that's been intentionally styled to look eclectic. It has that very curated 'quirky' aesthetic where things that would normally look unfinished or out of place are apparently part of the charm. I really wanted to like this place, but between the unnecessarily long wait, mediocre food, and the way that family was treated, I can't say I'd recommend it. There are plenty of brunch spots where you can get better food and much better service without waiting 90 minutes.

The menu has a great variety of options, and the food itself is high quality - everything we had was well-prepared and satisfying. The only issue was that my friend had to ask for a new set of cutlery since hers wasn't clean. Not a huge deal, but definitely something that shouldn't happen. Other than that, everything was solid. The service was unfriendly, the food was overpriced, and the overall experience was disappointing from start to finish. We had a party of six and were charged a "large party fee," which would have been fine if it had been explained upfront. Then there was an additional fee just for using a card. I ordered the table beignets, and they tasted more like fried biscuits than the beignets they used to serve. My son ordered a chicken waffle and was asked if he wanted bacon(2pc) on the side, assuming it came with the meal, only to later find out it was an extra charge that was never explained. I ordered the shrimp and grits, which used to be my favorite dish here, and it was terrible. The only flavor was Worcestershire sauce and green onions. Nothing about it tasted fresh or balanced. The restaurant itself was not clean. The floors were sticky, and the tables were so wobbly our drinks kept sloshing out. We finally had to shove napkins under the table leg just to keep it stable. To top it off, we never received one of the drinks we ordered or the extra bread we asked for. For just me and my son to eat brunch, the bill came to over $72. I truly hate leaving bad reviews, but between the poor attitudes, dirty floors, lack of service, surprise fees, and bad food, this place earned it. There are too many better brunch spots in Baton Rouge to waste your money here. And one last thing -- if you're going to charge a party fee, charge it fairly across the table instead of sticking certain people with more because they ordered more food. Do better.
