It's been years since I've last been here and it's gotten even better than I remember. We did the all-you-can-eat sushi, which has a current dinner price of $33. What an incredible deal! You can order endless sushi, sashimi, rolls, appetizers, teriyaki, dessert, a drink, and more all for that one price. The quality is amazing too! They make everything fresh to order so nothing is sitting out. The salmon is so fresh and buttery. This is by far the best thing on the menu. We got so many pieces of salmon sushimi and I would go back again for this alone. The shumai and takoyaki are also delicious. I wasn't a fan on the eel or tuna sashimi though to the point where I didn't eat the other pieces I ordered. I did really like the sushi roll I got that has salmon, tuna, and avocado inside with yellowtail, jalapeño, and a sweet chilli sauce on top. I am sure my friends, family, and I are Sushi's Masa's biggest fans. I go to sushi masa at least once every two weeks with my family and nursing friends. We always get the all you can eat which comes with everything on their selected menus depending on if it is lunch or dinner. My favorites are their spicy Kani salad, fried Masa roll, Tuna Tataki, fried rice, teriyaki chicken and steak, and so much more. Their drinks are also a 10/10. I had their blackberry Long Island and it was otherworldly and perfect. The ambiance is always great and I love the vibe and the service! The service is always good. I thought the third time would be the charm, but unfortunately it wasn't. When I opened my disposable chopsticks, a cloud of black, fuzzy residue came out of the wrapper. It appeared to be mold and was all over the chopsticks. I immediately asked my three friends to check theirs, and one of them also had the same issue. We went to wash our hands and asked our friends to let the waitress know. After waiting about 15 minutes, we finally received new chopsticks. What was most concerning was that the waitress didn't seem surprised by what happened, which made me feel like this wasn't the first time. I then checked my eel sauce with my phone flashlight and noticed black particles floating on top that appeared to have come from the chopsticks. At that point, I didn't feel comfortable using the sauce or finishing my meal. This experience completely ruined our dinner. Receiving contaminated utensils and having the situation handled so casually was extremely disappointing. I won't be returning ever again read more

Sushi Masa is a nice change from the same old sushi restaurant experience. The AYCE is pretty cool. I'm not a big eater, but it allowed me to try a bunch of different stuff in small portions. While I have eaten here in the past, this was my first time ordering to go. They have a wide range of sushi options, which I really appreciated and it was hard to narrow down because a lot of them sound delicious. I went with the yummy roll and the green monster roll. Super glad that all of our sauces were included on the side, as a lot of places forget these sorts of things. Our sushi was ready within 20 minutes and was easy to grab and go. The prices of the sushi did cost more when ordering to go than they did on the online menu, so keep that in mind when placing an online order. I'm guessing there's either fees per roll associated with online ordering, or that the menu prices online are no longer up to date. read more

It did take them a good chunk of time to get our plates out, but to be fair they were a bit busy because of lunch hour. We got their All You Can Eat lunch special, which is $20.95 per person (total was $41.90 for 2 people) with an extra hot green tea ($3.50). For the price, the sushi quality was pretty good, but not the best. Portions were good, but I only wished that they had sashimi options like Sushi Nami in Metairie, Louisiana instead of the raw fish options all having rice in them. We get the all you can eat everytime and it never disappoints, you get most drinks included unless it's alcohol you can get your first beer free but after that you pay. There's plenty to choose from on the massive menu from teriyaki steak to seaweed salad or your favorite sushi roll. The seaweed salad does have a very specific texture definitely not for my crew lol! They also have the best pink lemonade. Surprisingly there was no wait for 5 o'clock on a Friday but usually it's a 30-45 minute wait on busy nights. Plenty of parking for it though and there's benches outside for you to wait at if you want. Definitely one of my favorite go to places! read more

That was the second time I have heard this. For one, that is very unprofessional on his part and second, no worker should be treated that way. Sushi masa is one of my favorite places in Baton Rouge to get sushi! They have great prices and it's always tasty. They're pretty quick too. I've eaten in the restaurant and also picked up and it's always pretty fast and it's great quality even when we place an order for pick up. I recently went and got the lunch special: 2 sushi rolls for about $12. It's a great deal! I love that they aren't outrageously expensive and they still have good quality. The restaurant can be a bit more casual; there's definitely fancier sushi restaurants in town. However, sushi masa will always be a top pick for me because they don't short you on quality for a lower cost and they don't charge you a crazy amount for mediocre food either. read more

My son and his girlfriend invited us to dinner and we had heard good things so we were excited to try it. I will not go back and here's why... waitress was nice, but not attentive. She did get our drinks quickly and our order. That's where it went downhill for me. There were 4 of us. One person got their first roll pretty quickly followed by the 2nd getting there about 5 minutes later. My son and I ordered the same roll. He got his about 30 minutes after ordering and while we waited other tables around us started to fill up. The waitress got to them quickly, got their drinks and order before my son's roll arrived. After his arrived, every table around us started getting their food and were even receiving additional orders before my first roll arrived. About 45 minutes after ordering I got my first roll. Understand that my companions had ordered additional rolls after finishing theirs, and they received those as well. Still nothing for me. So my 1st roll finally arrived but I had ordered a tuna roll when I ordered my other roll. I waited as every other table had piles of food but after about another 20 minutes I asked what happened to my other roll. She told me that she would have them make it and it's arrive 5-10 minutes later. My son ordered edamame with his first order and it came just before we were ready to leave. I'm sorry but if this is how they do all you can eat, they are putting customers way in the hole. I didn't have time to order additional items so I called it quits. I left feeling cheated. The two rolls that I had were good but I wanted to try other items but I was so fed up, we just left because the rest of my party had been finished at least 20-30 minutes before my last (2nd) roll arrived and it was a tuna roll. Two ingredients that I had ordered an hour earlier! Our waitress didn't seem the least bit concerned with our complaint or the time it took for my food to arrive. My advice, bring everyone's 1st plate at the same time so you can keep up with that fact that some didn't get served anything until 45 minutes later. I love this place. Been going here for years with my fiance and dad and other friends. The all you can eat is amazing. It's always fresh and taste great. The price of the all you can eat has gone up over the years used to be 28 now it's 32$ but I guess that's everywhere really. The flavor was like everything delicious all wrapped up and placed very nicely in a plate before me. I couldn't wait to try it. Came here on a Sunday evening for AYCE sushi dinner and overall the food itself was good, but service could use some improvement. AYCE dinner is $30.95 and includes a pretty wide variety of appetizers, sides, sushi (nigiri, sashimi, and rolls), and dessert. It also comes with a free soft drink or alcoholic beverage. Waitlist: We ended up waiting for about 30 minutes before we were seated. There's a small waiting area inside and some more benches outside, but it definitely gets crowded to the point that waiting parties are having to stand around outside. Their online waitlist system was down the day we went, so we were not able to receive a confirmation text or check our waitlist status in line from our phones. The staff instead just gave us a phone call when our table was ready. Ambience: Pretty clean, with rather dim lighting. TVs throughout the restaurant. It was freezing cold though so bring a jacket. Service: As kind and apologetic as our server was, it doesn't change the fact that the overall service at Sushi Masa was subpar. It turned out that it was a kitchen staff member's birthday, so our server constantly was apologizing and encouraging us to order a lot upfront each round because "it might take 30 minutes" to get our food since the chef was so busy celebrating on the job, apparently. And it truly did take close to 30 minutes to get our food. We did hear the staff sing Happy Birthday in the back while we were sitting there waiting too... Just, come on. Other customers seated around us were also peeved at the slow service. Food: A bit disappointing that they weren't serving any of the soups listed on their menu; they were out of their soup stock apparently. Other than that, I was pleasantly surprised that they offered AYCE sashimi! Note that 1 order of sushi/sashimi is 1 piece (vs the more standard 2 pcs). Scallop was definitely a highlight. Also had salmon, yellowtail, and tuna; some of the tuna pieces I got were a bit sinewy. Can't go wrong with the specialty rolls -- we enjoyed the Baby Tiger, Crazy Yellowtail, and Samurai rolls. Like I tell my friends, we come here for the food not the service. This time around we our server was Joseph. He was terrible!!!! He forgot most of our tables food. He added gratuity to our 5 top ( one was a child ). So basically a 4 top, when the menu says 6 and above adds gratuity. Our entire table has served before so we were all going to tip regardless, but him adding gratuity after our terrible experience just was the icing on the cake for us. He greeted us monotone and spoke that way the entire time.
