I've been coming to Drunken Fish for two years and have always had a great experience the food is consistently excellent. However, my visit yesterday was extremely disappointing due to the behavior of one of your front employees. I came in early morning to order pho, and while paying my tab, I initially wrote "no tip" on the receipt because I had cash in my wallet that I intended to leave instead. Before I had the chance to take the money from my wallet or leave it, the employee at the front became disrespectful and questioned why I didn't leave a tip. She then told me that if I wasn't going to tip, I should order my food to-go next time. And I cursed her right back out as I walked off. This was unprofessional and inappropriate. I've never experienced anything like this at your establishment before. I expect better treatment as a loyal customer, and I hope this situation is addressed. read more

We were craving sushi for lunch and decided to give Drunken Fish a try! It is right by campus, so it was close, and there was no wait when we went around 12. The waitress was amazing. There are lunch specials, but we didn't know that only 4 pieces of sushi came with the lunch special. The lunch special was sushi with soup or salad and it was $13. We both decided on something else since we wanted more than 4 pieces of sushi. I got the margarita roll with a salad and my friend got the bento box. My roll was amazing and had 8 pieces... I ate the entire roll and was pretty full after. My salad was soaked in dressing, so it was eh ok. My friend asked for more dressing and there is a .50 cent upcharge! His bento box looked good, but it was a bunch of raw fish on there so that's not my cup of tea. My one roll was $18 for lunch, which I thought was expensive. Drunken Fish is a nifty Asian Restaurant located on Highland Drive, not too far from the South Gates of LSU. It's conveniently located in a small strip mall with its own ample parking lot. The restaurant itself is in the center of the development. They have a nice sushi bar area, as well as plenty of tables. I have to admit I've never had their sushi. I'm still exploring their menu, but I can recommend their soups and stir fry dishes. I'm a big fan of their Seafood Hu Tieu, which is a delightfully different mixed seafood soup. Another favorite of mine is the Shrimp and Scallop Sauté which is a great stir fry served with rice. Other excellent choices include their vermicelli bowls and bento boxes! Great place to eat and well priced. My only slight concern was with the menu. I ordered and after I got my food I noticed that I was missing something, I was then told that they don't actually serve it with the order anymore. I do not mind that it wasn't being served with the dish anymore, but I believe it would've been nice to know beforehand from when I was ordering in case I wanted to get something else instead because it was missing or at least for it to be scratched or taken off the menu so it's not falsely advertising that it is included. (this is also only one thing on the menu that I ordered so I can not say if this is an issue with any other dish.) Otherwise everything was excellent and this is a quick and simple fix! read more

While it was definitely not a major issue, I'm quite picky when it comes to sashimi growing up in a city with many quality options. The sashimi just doesn't have a fresh taste. Drunken Fish has the absolute best noodle pho in town! The broths are so full bodied and flavorful and the toppings are always fresh and plentiful. Not to mention, if you're under the weather, there's healing powers in that stuff! Their sushi rolls are all freshly made in front of you (Ashley roll is a favorite) and you can totally tell the difference. It's a small place that stays relatively busy, especially during lunch and dinner. Only downside is their hours are somewhat wacky but I'm almost positive it's because this place is nestled close to LSU's campus and they're somewhat seasonal for when classes are in session and/or whenever it's football season. Off the south gates of LSU campus, it is frequented by a diverse collegiate crowd, as well as, family friendly. No, it's not "Tsunami ", but it is quality, fresh sushi with a Thai, Vietnamese side hustle, at a good price. Although you can get sake there, it does need a full bar if that something of interest to you. The staff is friendly and welcoming. This is my go to sushi place mostly for convenience. Rock-n-Sake is actually closer to my place but Drunken Fish has better parking and I don't feel as awkward dining alone there. The people are friendly and upbeat and the rolls are delish - never any complaints. Aside from sushi the only other menu items that I've ordered were shrimp fried rice and The sautéed edamame appetizer. The sautéed edamame is the best I've ever had at any place. It's a must try and dare I say one of the main reasons you should try the Drunken Fish. If you're a Pho lover you have several options there as well. Don't judge but I've never tried Pho but one of my dinner companions orders it every time and seems to enjoy it there. The physical layout of the place consists of two separated rooms, one with the sushi bar on the far right side with the hostess station by the door and one solely with dining tables. Both offer a lot of space with the tables an adequate distance apart so everyone's not on top of each other. The wall are painted a bright yellow with the expected artwork, a hint of LSU aesthetic. When I first started going there, the yellow seemed like a harsh choice but now it doesn't bother me as much. And, of course both rooms have flat screen TVs on the walls, one definitely has two. I'm not a big fan of the blaring TVs but it's hard to find a casual restaurant to without them these days. If you're one to judge a place by the bathrooms, no problems here. What can I say? Excellent. If I could I would give this place a 6. This was the best food that was not American fare. Everything is fresh. We had the Vietnamese rolls--very fresh. We had the "bird nest," which is a variety of vegetables, beef, chicken, shrimp, and scallops--again excellent. My wife had a spicy shrimp dish that was lightly fried and in a spicy sauce--very good. Elvin, our waiter was very knowledgeable and gave excellent advice on what to order. He gave great service. The beer selection is good and it was cold. This is the best restaurant that I have tried in a long time. The decor is very nice inside, it is clean, and bathrooms are clean. Inside, it has a oriental flare mixed with an LSU theme. Drunken Fish is one of my favorite restaurants in the LSU area. I really enjoy the breadth of options for pescatarians, including tofu pho with veggie broth. They have Japanese & Vietnamese dishes, plus bubble milk tea! I usually get the shrimp fried rice, which is a good amount of food for $9. I would say the sushi presentation can be lacking compared to pricier sushi restaurants around BR, but it's always yummy! It's a smaller restaurant space, and the atmosphere is never too loud. They have flatscreen TVs usually playing sports. The service is great and all of the waitstaff is very polite and prompt. I don't think I've ever had a bad experience here. My husband and grandson came with me for lunch today and this is where I picked because I had came here before was a large crowd and everything was delicious but today it wasn't that good. We ordered the egg rolls and 2 orders of fried Zucchini for appetizers zucchini was delicious and the eggrolls good but the eggrolls are so tiny they are bite sized so keep that in mind if you order them. I love Pho so I got the beef and I was very dissatisfied so much I'm not going back. My noodles were in a big clump all stuck together and my meat was also stuck together. I actually had to pull the meat apart with my fingers. Yucky My husband got the combo fried rice and he said it was good but he didn't eat it all and he's like a starving Dog when it comes to food he never leaves a morsel behind. My grandson got the black skillet shrimp dish and he wasn't happy with it either. After the Sushi man at Thai Kitchen moved back home, this is one of the few places you can get sushi and something other than hibachi. The food tastes great and when I went the service was good. There are not many Vietnamese restaurants in Baton Rouge so I was happy to see so many Vietnamese dishes on their menu. However, I was not a fan of their shrimp and pork vermicelli. There was a sweet taste to it that I just did not enjoy. Though the vermicelli wasn't the best, I LOVED their sushi. I ordered the rock n roll and the drunken fish roll and they had to be some of the best rolls I've ever eaten. Their rolls are kind of pricy for the amount they give you, but I feel as though the quality makes up for it. The ginger dressing on their house salad had to be one of my favorite dressings I've tried. While it took some adjusting to see double-digit prices for Viet food, Drunken Fish made up with portion size. They use big bowls and plates, but they fill it up! They didn't just get size right - the food also hit the right notes on my taste buds. Let's break it down: - Vermicelli is always a refreshing dish with flavorful chargrilled meats. Get the combination because you get pork and shrimp - and they do not skimp on the protein. - Seafood hu tieu. Now, when you read seafood, you typically get the frozen combo like kani and squid...now, you do get those, but they stepped it up with some scallops and RED SNAPPER? The snapper really stood out as unique in all the bowls of hu tieu I've ever had. - Stuffed jalapenos. Basically the heavenly combination of flavors and textures that I love.
