I have been here several times and it is one of my favorite restaurants in Baton Rouge for great flavorful food. The food was amazing and great. For an appetizer, I had a dozen of their chargrilled oysters. You can see the smoke and smell them cooking them on the way in. They have this amazing butter sauce packed with tons of flavor and it is served with their French bread to soak up that butter! Some other appetizers we got were their fried eggplant with marinara sauce and their buffalo wings which are so good. For my main entree, I got their blackened shrimp pasta which was seasoned well and came with garlic bread. My twin got their hamburger steak and it was delicious. Some drinks I got for the night were their old fashioned and their Long Island iced tea. The ambiance is nice and perfect for a family outing or to celebrate graduation in my case. I literally lost my appetite after I took a bite of shrimp in their Eggplant Supreme dish. Never in decades of eating out have I had an establishment serve me what I got tonight. The shrimp had a big shrimp on top of the bite that I took, under it were several smaller shrimp, completely dry, stuck together. And they ... crunched. I spit them out, they tasted like dried, week old shrimp. Simply awful. I love a night out for dinner but I literally lost my appetite. The restaurant response was as bad. My food and my dad's food was covered in sauce. He had fish but you couldn't even see it because of how much sauce was on it. They could definitely cut back on the sauce and maybe not pour so much on top of the protein. For me, it made the batter on my chicken get soggy quick. Some of the rice was a bit dry and crunchy but over all it was good. The potato salad was good but I think the potatoes were a bit over cooked and make the salad taste like mashed potatoes. I could not see the sweet relish or taste the crunch but I know it was in there, the potato salad had a sweet taste to it. I like it better than mustard based ones. The cornbread was on point, only missed some butter. It was sweet and good consistency. The banana pudding was better the next day after I throw it on the fridge. Not sure if the short drive made it warm up or if their fridge was not working too well. It did need a little more fresh banana chunks for my liking but it was good over all. This location is recommended.
