When curious minds want to go check out the new place. We got a little bit of everything and tried it out from sushi, chicken and steak hibachi, and the spicy boiled seafood (I got the hot level). The yum yum sauce is homemade and they encourage you to try it on everything (in which I did ) Interested to try out the rest of the menu as they have a pretty extensive menu

Once you get past the world's tiniest napkins (seriously), you can appreciate the varied Hibachi and Sushi menu of OEC Japanese Express. Nestled in the O'Neal Plaza, near the plasma donation office and a vape shop, the restaurant passed the first test - clean, very well kept, functional decor. The cashier was super friendly and helpful. I had the Chicken & Shrimp hibachi dinner plate. Food was served very quickly. The chicken hibachi had onions, broccoli, mushrooms and zucchini. Chicken did have a decent grilled flavor. Shrimp were somewhat tasty and sitting on a bed of fried rice. The rice was pretty much OK, if a bit commonplace. The side iceberg salad in the styrofoam was, well icebergy. The taste of the watery dressing is not worth mentioning. Cutlery was plastic and barely sufficient to the job. But the fork worked, lol. Overall? Not really noteworthy for anything, except having the world's tiniest napkins. Pricing was about $14 for the dinner plate. Would visit again, but only after I have had time to forget the undistinguished meal.

Paid 42$ for this small of portions. Kinda disappointed. Why charge high. for small portions.

Food was absolutely disappointing. The Spider Roll was 7$ for it to be barely full of anything. And this small of portions. Paid 42$ for nothing.

I have been here several times and it is one of my favorite restaurants in Baton Rouge for great flavorful food. The food was amazing and great. For an appetizer, I had a dozen of their chargrilled oysters. You can see the smoke and smell them cooking them on the way in. They have this amazing butter sauce packed with tons of flavor and it is served with their French bread to soak up that butter! Some other appetizers we got were their fried eggplant with marinara sauce and their buffalo wings which are so good. For my main entree, I got their blackened shrimp pasta which was seasoned well and came with garlic bread. My twin got their hamburger steak and it was delicious. Some drinks I got for the night were their old fashioned and their Long Island iced tea. The ambiance is nice and perfect for a family outing or to celebrate graduation in my case. This will always be a restaurant I will coming back to. The service was great and Chance was amazing the entire time accommodating our large party! Thanks so much.

I literally lost my appetite after I took a bite of shrimp in their Eggplant Supreme dish. Never in decades of eating out have I had an establishment serve me what I got tonight. The shrimp had a big shrimp on top of the bite that I took, under it were several smaller shrimp, completely dry, stuck together. And they ... crunched. I spit them out, they tasted like dried, week old shrimp. Simply awful. I love a night out for dinner but I literally lost my appetite. The restaurant response was as bad. The waitress took the plate. No apology. Nothing from the kitchen other than, do you want something else? City Cafe must have way too much business to serve a dish like this and not say a word back. I'm not a shrinking violet but damn, a simple sorry might have been nice.

We were visiting Baton Rouge and looking for a new place to try. I looked on TikTok, yelp, and…read moregoogle and this place had good reviews so we decided to go. When we pulled up, we realized the parking lot was full( it's a shared parking lot), but we were able to find a spot. There was only one other family dining in when we arrived, so there were a lot of empty tables and our waitress sat us right by the bathroom and the storage area which I didn't appreciate. When going to a restaurant no one wants to look at your storage area. I think they need to put a curtain up or something to cover all the supplies because it isn't aesthetically pleasing. On to the food and drinks. Our waitress started us off with some water, but my mom and I didn't drink it because my dad said it was nasty( you know certain areas tap water may taste/ smell funny and I don't blame the restaurant for that it's more of a city issue). I ordered a pink lemonade and my parents had Arnold palmers. I ordered the Fried chicken Orleans, my mom had the hamburger steak, and my dad had the mornay. All the meals came with a breadstick. My food and my dad's food was covered in sauce. He had fish but you couldn't even see it because of how much sauce was on it. They could definitely cut back on the sauce and maybe not pour so much on top of the protein. For me, it made the batter on my chicken get soggy quick. Flavor of the food was ok, but it could've used more seasoning and the sauce could've been thinner (it was pretty thick). My dad felt like his fish was overcooked and could've been seasoned more. My mom enjoyed her hamburger steak and didn't have any complaints. All of our veggies were cooked well. Prices were fine. Overall this place is just ok to me, I don't have to go back.

The pot roast tasted like grandma's cooking, the tuna was so fresh and flavorful, and all of our veggies were buttery and delicious. 10/10 meal for us! Do not skip the Mississippi mud pie!

The crawfish were flavorful, seasoned well, and priced right, which is honestly the perfect combination when you're sitting down ready to eat. They had that messy, not really spicy, addictive quality that keeps you reaching for "just one more" until the tray is empty. I also tried the buffalo wings. They weren't that great, if I'm being honest, but I was hungry so they got the job done. The crawfish are clearly the star of the show here anyway. The atmosphere felt relaxed and unpretentious, exactly the kind of place you want for seafood with friends, cold drinks, and a table full of shells piling up by the minute. If you're wondering whether I'll be back, I already have.

Treated me once I got to counter to order. I had already looked at the menu before going over so I knew what I wanted. Ordered the chicken and sausage jambalaya with potato salad. They were out of the chicken and sausage jambalaya so I had to wait about 20 mins for them to make a new batch. That was ok because I knew it would be fresh and hot. Waited at a table for my food to go. Took it back to the hotel. The jambalaya had a good flavor to it. The chicken was a rough chop so you got small pieces and large pieces which was nice. Some of the rice was a bit dry and crunchy but over all it was good. The potato salad was good but I think the potatoes were a bit over cooked and make the salad taste like mashed potatoes. I could not see the sweet relish or taste the crunch but I know it was in there, the potato salad had a sweet taste to it. I like it better than mustard based ones. The cornbread was on point, only missed some butter. It was sweet and good consistency. The banana pudding was better the next day after I throw it on the fridge. Not sure if the short drive made it warm up or if their fridge was not working too well. It did need a little more fresh banana chunks for my liking but it was good over all. This location is recommended.

Yesterday they had a special and I went by and picked up 5 pounds of cold boiled crawfish and had those today. there was a special on, and I won't quote the price, but it was the lowest I've seen crawfish in years. They have plenty of parking, which is great because you'll need the extra space to dodge potholes the size of kiddie pools. That lot is in horrible condition!! By the time we parked, our car needed a mechanic chiropractor. Unlike the parking lot, the inside was clean and moderately busy. When it was finally our turn, I confidently ordered hot large crabs. Pointing towards the display case showcasing a pan containing a moderate amount of cold crabs, the cashier replied, "We do not have large size hot crabs, only medium size cold crabs at $7.99 a pound." I slowly turned and looked at my husband with the universal married look that says, "Did we come all this way for refrigerated disappointment?" My husband the optimistic one decided we'd go ahead and get some anyway. As the employee began filling our order, I noticed she was selecting the smallest crabs from underneath the larger ones on display. I politely asked if she could choose larger ones instead, but my request wasn't acknowledged. After asking again and still receiving no response, I requested to select the crabs myself and was not acknowledged. At that point, we decided not to complete the purchase. For us, customer service is just as important as the food. We have a rule. If the service isn't there or the product isn't what a business is known for, it's okay to walk away. We almost settled, and that's never a good idea--especially these days when every dollar counts. And let's be honest the crabs were cold and my imagination started asking questions. How long have they been sitting there? Are these today's crabs...or are we on yesterday's episode? Maybe Randy's has amazing days. Maybe people leave carrying steaming bags of giant crabs while angels sing overhead. Friday, July 24th, just wasn't one of those days. Between the obstacle-course parking lot that doesn't qualify for FEMA assistance, the missing hot crabs, and being completely ignored by employee, this trip was an empty shell of what we expected.
