I always feel bad when I have to write a review like this... but I really wasn't impressed with my lunch today. This place had a pretty high star rating, so I was expecting alot- but the food, nor the restaurant itself- met my expectations. I ordered the Tempura Shrimp/Vegetable Bento Box... Best: Shrimp Tempura, crispy and light. Dumplings- the meat inside had a good savory flavor. Worst: The Tempura veggies... mushy and didn't taste fresh. The salads ginger dressing was bland. The sushi was just ok. I only ate one piece. And the bowl of sauce on the side had a flavor that I did not desire. I wish the sauce that was on the Dumplings, was the one in that bowl! The restaurant itself needs some improvements. All the booths were well worn and thats putting it nicely. A plus is that the waitress was nice and came over several times to check on me!

I had a good time. The atmosphere was nice and quiet and there was a ton of food selections. I had the hibachi with steak and shrimp and it was delicious. The only thing that I would have preferred is for my meats to be mixed in with my noodles but that's just me being nit picky. The sake samples were also a plus

    Deliciousness!

This was my first time eating sushi here, and was pleasant to find that their sushi was pretty good. Not the best but not the worst. Environment was cozy, and it gave me a vibe of a small mom and pop sushi place I love in Dallas, TX. Staff was friendly and the sushi ordering process went through without any issues. Not much to rave on about it, but it's a place that is doable when you need to get a sushi fix. You won't be disappointed.

Super delicious Sushi Pizza. Piled high with raw fish, def bang for the buck

Kaminari is set in an unassuming strip mall off the interstate. Upon emerging we were warmly greeted by the staff. The restaurant was appropriately lit with a welcoming ambiance. We were seated in some uncomfortable booths set at a 90 degree angle, we reseated ourselves at a nearby table, which wasn't an issue bc there was one waitress. Reviewing the sushi menu but not wanting rice we opted for the Sushi Pizza, it was so delectable. The "crust" was a base flat bread with less of flavor but more for structure. It was topped with an abundance of fresh fish; tuna, massago, avocado, cucumber and another white fish. It was well worth $11. My husband had the sesame chicken which he gave three stars bc "all I could taste was the fried breading the soy sauce in the fried rice". We tried the Lsu roll, it was ok. Typical Baton Rouge fried, cream cheese, imitation crab etc etc etc. I honestly do believe the sushi options are worth exploring more.

    "Fried" dumplings.

It has become common practice for the few Asian restaurants in this area to half do an order. If I order fried dumplings freaking fry the whole thing! They even managed to leave one mostly unfried AND burned at the same time. It takes several issues for me to leave a bad review; this was just it.

Hibachi was absolutely terrible. Good thing I only paid for lunch vs dinner. But yea, it sucked, don't waste your money.

We went to Salt & Light for Sushi immediately after landing in Gonzales because we were starving,…read moreand it turned into one of the best date nights we've had in a long time. We met the owner, Shelly, who is originally from China, and she was incredibly warm and welcoming. What really surprised us was that they served us fresh wasabi instead of the usual paste -- I've never had that before, and it was amazing. Once you try it fresh, you can never go back. Our server, Dashay, was fantastic -- kind, attentive, and just such a lovely young woman. We started with hot sake and Kirin draft beer, then ordered a spicy tuna roll and a hamachi (yellowtail and scallion) roll, both of which were excellent. We also had tempura -- the batter was a little thick for my personal taste, but the sauces were so good that it still hit the spot. My favorite dish was the ama ebi (sweet shrimp), especially because they bring out the fried shrimp head, which was crispy and delicious. The sushi was fresh, well-prepared, and beautifully balanced. Between the amazing food and the genuine hospitality, we had such a wonderful evening. I can absolutely see why this is Parker's favorite sushi spot in Gonzales. Highly recommend, and we'll definitely be back.

My Daughter and I stopped for lunch. Not much ambiance…read more Our server was nice. She tried. Unfortunately our food left a lot to be desired. We ordered the vegetable spring rolls they had very little filling, had an odd flavor from the oil, but were very crispy. I ordered the hibachi lunch. My daughter ordered General Taos chicken. The portions were large. The fried rice had hard dried out pieces of rice, I guess it had sat open somewhere and dried out. the menu said my chicken would have a teriyaki sauce, not teriyaki, some not good sauce which was so salty I couldn't eat it. The raw chicken had not been covered I am guessing, because it had a 'skin' on it? I could not eat it. My lunch came with a choice of salad or clear soup. I chose the salad, was very crispy but it had almost an 1/2 inch of water in the bottom of the bowl. My daughter said her clear soup was excellent. Her General Taos chicken had an old freezer taste she said . We were totally unable to eat the entrees. So sad. We had hoped that this would be our go to place for Chinese food.

Anchoring a shopping center on Highland Road, Hello Sushi is a nice spot to grab some quality sushi…read morewithout the big production of some places. My friends and I went on a quiet night and were quickly seated. Our server was attentive and made sure each arrival was acknowledged. It looks like they have some fun cocktails playing on the sushi flare, but i stuck to wine, which was just meh. For apps, we tried the sushi egg roll which was okay (the accompanying sauce was delish!) and the fried mushrooms, more fried than veggie for that one. We each stuck to our own rolls rather than sharing, just to make it easier with different tastes. There were a lot to choose from. As required, they note the imported seafood (shrimp and crawfish) on the various rolls, so unfortunately, that eliminated about 1/2 the menu. I ordered the unagi and masago pieces. Both were good. The Aydin roll was just okay. The presentation of all the plates was very artistic - I loved the little "extra" they did! Flavor wise I expected more, and the spicey ponzu sauce was not the kick I was expecting. But the ingredients were fresh and not "fishy." I think next time, i will study the menu a little more. If you're looking for a moderately affordable place, Hello Sushi is pretty good. The aesthetic was nice. (Bathrooms could have been attended to,)
