We ordered two different rolls of sushi and steak/chicken hibachi. They don't have any tables for hibachi shows which is just fine with me. Everything came out fresh and was really good. This spot sells different kinds of Asian food. You can get Chinese, Japanese, and Thai all in one sitting. I ordered Egg Drop Soup and Drunken Noodles with Shrimp. This was good and convenient! I would skip on the sweet shrimp, it was cooked nicely but wasn't fresh so it was a little off. Otherwise, the rest were great! I would come back. This place had a pretty high star rating, so I was expecting alot- but the food, nor the restaurant itself- met my expectations. I ordered the Tempura Shrimp/Vegetable Bento Box... Best: Shrimp Tempura, crispy and light. Dumplings- the meat inside had a good savory flavor. Worst: The Tempura veggies... mushy and didn't taste fresh. The salads ginger dressing was bland. The sushi was just ok. I only ate one piece. And the bowl of sauce on the side had a flavor that I did not desire. I wish the sauce that was on the Dumplings, was the one in that bowl! Kaminari is set in an unassuming strip mall off the interstate. Upon emerging we were warmly greeted by the staff. The restaurant was appropriately lit with a welcoming ambiance. We were seated in some uncomfortable booths set at a 90 degree angle, we reseated ourselves at a nearby table, which wasn't an issue bc there was one waitress. Reviewing the sushi menu but not wanting rice we opted for the Sushi Pizza, it was so delectable. The "crust" was a base flat bread with less of flavor but more for structure. It was topped with an abundance of fresh fish; tuna, massago, avocado, cucumber and another white fish. It was well worth $11. My husband had the sesame chicken which he gave three stars bc "all I could taste was the fried breading the soy sauce in the fried rice". We tried the Lsu roll, it was ok. Typical Baton Rouge fried, cream cheese, imitation crab etc etc etc. I honestly do believe the sushi options are worth exploring more. read more

This is a great place for satisfying your sushi, sashimi, hibachi, Thai, and Chinese cravings. The roll list is impressively long and varied. I have yet to have a bad one- be warned, they are very generous with the spicy mayo. From the appetizer list, seaweed salad and crab salad are both excellent choices to start with. The seaweed salad is light and refreshing, the crab salad is filling and comes with a good amount of avocado (which is why I like it) Thai curries and noodles are a delicious surprise out here in Gonzales. Try the pad Thai or Singaporean noodles if you want to try lo mein alternative. The udon is delicious. I like to come for some when I'm sick or the weather has turned cold. i think this is probably one of the few available options for sushi around dutchtown/geismar area. They do get a lot of traffic from nearby chemical plants. So during lunchtime, this place is typically crowded. They provide Japanese/Chinese/Thai menu options (so quite a wide variety of menu options). I have tried sushi rolls (lunch special). These are ok quality. Nothing that screams, "I must come back for this." Also, I have tried their Chinese lunch items (chicken). Chinese food quality was better than the sushi rolls I must say. The food presentation is beautiful. One thing they do lack is quick turnaround. They have single server to cater to all customers. So make sure you have at least 1.5 - 2 hours to spend for lunch if going. This was the only upsetting thing. read more
