    Sushi Pizza
    Kelly T.

This was good and convenient! I would skip on the sweet shrimp, it was cooked nicely but wasn't fresh so it was a little off. Otherwise, the rest were great! I would come back. The sushi pizza was delicious and had a slight crisp due to the scallion pancake. The sauces were good on it and I appreciate the amount of fish on it. The roll was also good. Server was attentive and restaurant was clean. Love!

I always feel bad when I have to write a review like this... but I really wasn't impressed with my lunch today. This place had a pretty high star rating, so I was expecting alot- but the food, nor the restaurant itself- met my expectations. I ordered the Tempura Shrimp/Vegetable Bento Box... Best: Shrimp Tempura, crispy and light. Dumplings- the meat inside had a good savory flavor. Worst: The Tempura veggies... mushy and didn't taste fresh. The salads ginger dressing was bland. The sushi was just ok. I only ate one piece. And the bowl of sauce on the side had a flavor that I did not desire. I wish the sauce that was on the Dumplings, was the one in that bowl! The restaurant itself needs some improvements. All the booths were well worn and thats putting it nicely. A plus is that the waitress was nice and came over several times to check on me!

I had a good time. The atmosphere was nice and quiet and there was a ton of food selections. I had the hibachi with steak and shrimp and it was delicious. The only thing that I would have preferred is for my meats to be mixed in with my noodles but that's just me being nit picky. The sake samples were also a plus

This was my first time eating sushi here, and was pleasant to find that their sushi was pretty good. Not the best but not the worst. Environment was cozy, and it gave me a vibe of a small mom and pop sushi place I love in Dallas, TX. Staff was friendly and the sushi ordering process went through without any issues. Not much to rave on about it, but it's a place that is doable when you need to get a sushi fix. You won't be disappointed.

Super delicious Sushi Pizza. Piled high with raw fish, def bang for the buck

Kaminari is set in an unassuming strip mall off the interstate. Upon emerging we were warmly greeted by the staff. The restaurant was appropriately lit with a welcoming ambiance. We were seated in some uncomfortable booths set at a 90 degree angle, we reseated ourselves at a nearby table, which wasn't an issue bc there was one waitress. Reviewing the sushi menu but not wanting rice we opted for the Sushi Pizza, it was so delectable. The "crust" was a base flat bread with less of flavor but more for structure. It was topped with an abundance of fresh fish; tuna, massago, avocado, cucumber and another white fish. It was well worth $11. My husband had the sesame chicken which he gave three stars bc "all I could taste was the fried breading the soy sauce in the fried rice". We tried the Lsu roll, it was ok. Typical Baton Rouge fried, cream cheese, imitation crab etc etc etc. I honestly do believe the sushi options are worth exploring more.

    "Fried" dumplings.

It has become common practice for the few Asian restaurants in this area to half do an order. If I order fried dumplings freaking fry the whole thing! They even managed to leave one mostly unfried AND burned at the same time. It takes several issues for me to leave a bad review; this was just it.

The standout for me was the veggie fried rice. It had great flavor, and I'd honestly come back for that alone. The Snake Wrangler drink was also a favorite. The only downside was the hot honey. It was very light on both the wings and the bao bun, so the flavor didn't come through as much as expected. Service was efficient and attentive. It's a nice, quaint spot with a cozy patio and indoor seating. Still a solid happy hour option, and I'd definitely return.

Try one and they are stone cold but good flavor. I asked Courtney the server if they were meant to be served room temperature (first time having so wasn't Sure). She takes the whole bowl. A nice little bit later my bowl is returned just as my tikka masala queso Is arriving. From the looks of my bowl and the broth it was nuked. Heated in the microwave which was annoying bc I wanted to try these fresh for the first time and also more importantly I ordered them with intentions of eating 2 now and taking the other 3 to go so I could enjoy my queso there. Dumplings can't and shouldn't reheated multiple times over and especially not even once at the restaurant that's serving them. I was honestly just hoping they would have dropped a fresh hot spoon or two of the broth : sauce they were in. Very upsetting for the evening because I was excited to try something new

My Daughter and I stopped for lunch. Not much ambiance…read more Our server was nice. She tried. Unfortunately our food left a lot to be desired. We ordered the vegetable spring rolls they had very little filling, had an odd flavor from the oil, but were very crispy. I ordered the hibachi lunch. My daughter ordered General Taos chicken. The portions were large. The fried rice had hard dried out pieces of rice, I guess it had sat open somewhere and dried out. the menu said my chicken would have a teriyaki sauce, not teriyaki, some not good sauce which was so salty I couldn't eat it. The raw chicken had not been covered I am guessing, because it had a 'skin' on it? I could not eat it. My lunch came with a choice of salad or clear soup. I chose the salad, was very crispy but it had almost an 1/2 inch of water in the bottom of the bowl. My daughter said her clear soup was excellent. Her General Taos chicken had an old freezer taste she said . We were totally unable to eat the entrees. So sad. We had hoped that this would be our go to place for Chinese food.

We met the owner, Shelly, who is originally from China, and she was incredibly warm and welcoming. What really surprised us was that they served us fresh wasabi instead of the usual paste -- I've never had that before, and it was amazing. Once you try it fresh, you can never go back. Our server, Dashay, was fantastic -- kind, attentive, and just such a lovely young woman. We started with hot sake and Kirin draft beer, then ordered a spicy tuna roll and a hamachi (yellowtail and scallion) roll, both of which were excellent. We also had tempura -- the batter was a little thick for my personal taste, but the sauces were so good that it still hit the spot. My favorite dish was the ama ebi (sweet shrimp), especially because they bring out the fried shrimp head, which was crispy and delicious. The sushi was fresh, well-prepared, and beautifully balanced. Between the amazing food and the genuine hospitality, we had such a wonderful evening. I can absolutely see why this is Parker's favorite sushi spot in Gonzales. Highly recommend, and we'll definitely be back.

I've always wanted to try this place and finally had the chance to. I went in at 10:30am as soon as they opened. I got the cove platter with the 3 meats. I chose chicken katsu, chicken teriyaki, and kalbi. I asked for brown rice instead of white and it came with a side of macaroni salad. The chicken katsu was very well fried. Very crunchy still since I made the trip to work and was able to still enjoy that crunch. The kalbi was okay it was marinated from what I could tell but I wasn't getting too much flavor from the meat. It was tender but it didn't have those grill marks or the char I was looking for. The chicken Teriyaki was a bit on the drier side for me. I was expecting the chicken to be in a sauce but it wasn't. It also didn't have that typical teriyaki flavor. They did put a sauce on the side im not sure what it was. It didn't stick to the chicken and the rice soaked it all up. The macaroni salad was a disappointment it was on the dry side with just egg and maybe a relish of some sort but that was it. I had to add a salt and pepper but still it was dry. The dumplings were the best thing, it comes with a tasty sweet chili sauce. The kimchi appeared to be old and didn't have flavor at all I didn't eat it. Unfortunately I may not be back.

The Chang's Spicy Chicken was delicious, as usual, and full of flavor. My only disappointment was that the portion seemed smaller than what I normally get when dining in. I substituted romaine lettuce for iceberg, and the lettuce was fresh, crisp, and not torn or browned at all, which I really appreciated. The crab wontons were crispy and delicious, and the sauce that came with them added great flavor. The key lime pie was also very good, although the portion felt a little small for the price. It came with a sauce on the side that was pretty bland, but I was glad it was separate so I could leave it off. Overall, everything tasted great and I enjoyed the meal. One note though - Sweep the floor around tables and booths more, and fully wipe tables and booth seats better. Sometimes there is food from previous party left on booth seats. I do not want to sit on other people's food debris. When you wipe a table it must be fully wiped and then you have to wipe the seats too.
