This location is in a shopping center. Parking can be challenging certain times of the day. Restaurant is well decorated but not all that clean. We ordered take out. Service was beyond slow. I ordered chicken hibachi. It was terrible. Veggies were limp wet mess, chicken was dry and flavor less and the rice tasted old and reheated. My husband ordered a TNT roll with extra wasabi. It came with no wasabi at all. It was lack luster as well. Would not return. Poor service and bad food is just not a good combo. read more

After driving in afternoon traffic to Gonzales from Baton Rouge to pickup dinner for my son's birthday on a weekday, we ordered 103.00 worth of food for pickup. We ordered two shrimp and chicken hibachi dinners and one steak and shrimp. The two shrimp and chicken dinners were wrong-- we received two shrimp and the rest steak. The order was completely incorrect. It ruined our birthday celebration. After traveling in afternoon traffic only to sit down to 103.00 of wrong food. We who ordered SHRIMP AND CHICKEN DON't EAT RED MEAT. So now what? We picked out the red meat and ate part of a meal. It was gross. I paid $103.00 for bad service. Disappointing reveal of our dinner and a frustrating drive to get this meal. Used to be one of our favorite places. And get someone who will speak up on the phone. Nothing exciting to say. It was an average restaurant and I have definitely had better. I thought the waitress was a little rude we had only been sitting 15 minutes and she was asking about bringing the check. They weren't really busy so I don't know what the rush was. The food was ok. I had the veggie soup, the veggie spring roll and the avocado roll and like I said there was nothing to get excited about. It's definitely not one of my top 20 in 2020 to return too. read more

If I could give this place 000 I would! First, let me say that we used to love this place. The last time we ate here it was ok. Not great but okay. It's now Sunday after thanksgiving and we are craving something different. So we ordered take out. 2 Hawaiian rolls and LSU roll and a shrimp tempura roll and hibachi fried rice with beef. ALL of the rolls were not made with fresh ingredients. The shrimp was rubbery and the crawfish had a foul smell. The Hawaiian rolls are supposed to have cream cheese and avocado. It had little bits. The rice was hard and had no flavor and no veggies. The beef was chewy and gray in color. I called the restaurant and the girl that answered told me they didn't have a manager there(which is probably why food was sent out like that) and didn't even apologize. They used to have great management. I will never eat here again. Would not recommend anyone else to eat here. Seafood can be dangerous served bad. read more

Anytime I can get cooked to order Japanese food at lunch menu prices on a Sunday at noon I'm already impressed, HT2 obliged. Although we didn't get the hibachi show, the hibachi chicken, shrimp, and filet mignon was quite good, although the steak was overcooked a bit. Clear soup, fried rice , and sushi was very good. Clean, quiet, spacious dining room for a nice relaxing meal. Service was a bit slow for the items we ordered from the kitchen, but the staff was very friendly. Food was pretty standard pop-up sushi bar fare. Nothing bad, but much the same as every other place in town. Clear soup, miso soup, and "salad" (a bowl of lettuce) with ginger dressing- all the same as you can get everywhere else (but that's not a bad thing). The box combo was pretty big with lots of food. Menu says it comes with shrimp tempura, but it actually has shrimp and vegetable tempura (more than you'd expect). With the cali roll, eel sushi, chicken teriyaki, and fried rice, there was enough for lunch tomorrow, too. The beef negimaki (thin sliced beef rolled around scallion) was good, but there was too much scallion that gave it an odd texture - but it tasted okay. The teriyaki and onions it was served with, and the noodles were pretty good. Overall, an average (filling) meal in a clean place. You could do a lot worse. read more

Just tried the new Hello Tokyo II. The food is just as good as the original restaurant in Gonzales. I will point out that the restaurant is very small. It looks so much bigger from outside. They only have 14 tables (that's how small it is...you can count the tables) no hibachi tables (hibachi plates are cooked in the kitchen and served to you). When we walked to our table, the floors were very slippery. I thought maybe they just mopped but it was slippery all the way to the bathrooms. It could be the tiles they installed. Not our shoes, because everyone else was slipping around. Our server was very nice. I believe his name is Daniel. The food was perfect! We had the TNT and LSU roll. My inlaws got the oyster roll and said it was delicious. I would've gave 5 stars but took one off due to the slippery floors. That could be very dangerous if not changed. When I return, I will see if they changed this issue and update my review. read more

Nice quiet atmosphere with friendly staff and excellent food. I tried the the teriyaki kitchen entry that included a side of rice and your choice of soup or salad. I decided on the miso soup. I also elected to try the shrimp and vegetable tempura as an appetizer. The appetizer arrived first hot and crunchy. The waitresses timing was perfect, as soon as I was almost done enjoying my tempura appetizer, the main course arrived. The chicken teriyaki entry arrived on a sizzling hot skillet. The presentation and taste was excellent and far exceeded my expectations. My waitress Kerri was awesome too, she never let my drinking glass become empty and was very attentive to insure I was enjoying my dinner and experience. I strongly recommend this restaurant if your traveling down Airline highway and in the mood for some authentic Japanese food. Will come again. read more

Ate here for my sister's birthday. I ordered grilled shrimp. (Same has hibachi shrimp). I waited 2 hours after being seated and never received my food. The poor waiter kept going to the back and asking about my food and the chefs in the back kept shooing him away. Needless to say, I didn't get any food that night. Can I just start off by saying, I f'ing LOVE this place!? Because I sure as heck do! So a few days ago I placed a to-go order on the phone and I was IMMEDIATELY greeted by the voice of an angel (I just have a gut feeling this girl can sing!) and she was SO patient with me! It was my first time, as a vegan, trying vegan/vegetarian sushi and although I had no clue what to get, Sydnee Hawkins helped me out. The order was quick and easy. By the time I got there, she had EVERYTHING I ordered plus yum-yum sauce, utensils & napkins! Can I just keep bragging about her? Anyway...she was so kind, QUICK, and effortlessly beautiful. Sydnee Hawkins is definitely the hardest working multi-tasking angel I've ever laid my eyes on! Oh I almost forgot...the restaurant itself, oh shucks...well it's absolutely the spot to go if you want a cute intimate atmosphere for you and your spouse. Had lunch with my son and it was good for the most part. The miso and clear soups were a little weak, but okay. We ordered the lunch boxes with shrimp teriyaki. I've had lots of bento boxes, this one didn't have as much food as others, but it was really good. The ambience was a little dark for lunch but it has a more upscale feel. Wait staff was excellent! I pop in here frequently for takeout, most recently for a get together at my house for which I ordered several rolls (about 8-10) for a little different twist on normal "party food" options. They run the takeout counter like a well oiled machine. They had my rather large order ready (and correct) within 20 minutes and gave me generous soy sauces and chopsticks without having to ask. The kids and I have only eaten in the dining area once, normally we get our food to-go. This is a "treat" dinner for them every once in a while, and they always enjoy the hibachi plates. I pretty much stick to sushi rolls, my fave being the crawfish roll. They have some amazing rolls though, so if you have exotic tastes, they have you covered here. The food is pretty good, not "OMG best Japanese food I've ever had!", but it's a good bang for your buck. Clean and quiet atmosphere, usually not crowded so service is good too. read more
