The voodoo queen was the star of the show for me. So flavorful, with a great kick of spice! The Rock-n-Roll was good, much bigger in width but came with a lot less pieces overall. I absolutely loveeee the shrimp wontons! The filling is so flavorful, I have to get them everytime now. The service was good, i went with a party and our server was attentive and quick. I eat raw sushi all the time and have never had such stomach pain. I had the spicy tuna roll and pieces of salmon sashimi. The tuna tasted low in quality and the salmon was so chewy that i could not continue to eat any of it. My stomach immediately started hurting and it carried into the next day. I can't believe I haven't been here before! As a sushi enthusiast, I would say this is a place for people who like rolls as well as nigiri. I only tried the toro nigiri but so far so good! I also really loved the hot kama. All of my friends tried it and loved it as well. I liked that it was served with sushi rice but since I don't like too much sauce, I would probably ask to serve the sauce on the side next time. Other than that, the fish was so juicy I loved it! The seafood salad was decent; I wish there was more/a more interesting sauce, but all the fish was fresh. It was takeout so maybe its better dining in. i ordered a side of sushi rice but they gave me unflavored steamed rice instead which was not a huge deal but i was missing that flavor. If they had a bento special or roll combo lunch special of some kind I'd go here more often. The interior looked like a good vibe so I'll try going for drinks next time. For drinks i got a glass of of chardonnay & the pregame (taste like watered apple juice/not strong) I spent $48 which was steal! Low score for 2 reasons: 1) It took a while for me to put my order in & revive my food. Waitress was very nice but it took a while to put my drink order in & then 15 min from then to put my food order in. I then waited over an hour for my rolls. It got to a point i had to ask the waitress if my order was put in & she politely explained that the kitchen was backed up. 2) the bathroom was disgusting. 3 stalls and 2 had pee on the seat and the other had poop stains on the toilet paper. You can tell it's not kept up or cleaned. I did inform the hostess and she didn't seem surprise or made a move to get someone to clean it. At these price points i expect the bathrooms to be clean and in order! I highly recommend they hire a bathroom attendant. I also noticed there was a really loud staff member with a green sparkle shirt who was obnoxiously loud the whole time. She literally yelled in my ear as i was walking past to respond to someone. Then the continuous loud laughing & talking became a bit much while she was stationed with a few other staff members at the end of the bar. Overall great spot for a date, solo time or group outing. There were a few things that shouldn't happen. 1. There was someone sweeping very loudly around us. I don't mind someone sweeping quietly while we eat but don't bang around the chairs and dust pan, it's very rude. 2. We were a party of 3 that all ordered sushi and they put all of our food on one plate without asking. I've never had a restaurant do that before. 3. I ordered the sashimi plate. The fish was sub par to say the least. The white fish had a really bad taste which put me off for the rest of my meal. The salmon had some skin on it from not being filleted well. I had my husband taste the white fish because I thought my taste buds were off and he said it was bad also. The rolls were ok but had some odd combinations like asparagus in the rainbow roll. My friends and I decided to order the sushi king cake for Valentine's Day. We were all super excited about it but were wildly disappointed once we started to eat it. Online the description makes it sound like it would be multiple different types of rolls in the shape of a king cake however that is NOT what we ate. Instead for over $100 you get a majority of snow crab and rice with JUST the toppings you see on the picture. Not to mention they were not cut into rolls so having the serve it was just a mess. Another updated review: still the best sushi in town. I love going on tuesdays for their TGIT deal! (Don't expect to get fast service though because tuesdays are the busiest day!) Got the brussel sprouts to start but they came in a smaller portion that what I would get previously. That made me sad but I know restaurants struggle with supple chain issues and such. They were still amazing. The April roll of the month was really good. I loved the fresh fruit on top. The full priced roll I got was the triple s. Also really good, as always. Since the service was taking a bit long, our waitress offered a miso or house salad but I politely declined. It was a nice gesture though! This was an excellent meal. However, as in all sushi restaurants in Baton Rouge, there is too much kani (fake crab) on the menu. Like almost every roll. Of course, you can delete it which I do with impunity I had two of their happy hour cocktails (they call them "$5 'tinis." First, I had the Blueberry Lemondrop" which is a lemonade with blueberry added. This was hands down my fave. I also had the "Redemption Road" which is a bourbon drink and since I love bourbon I HAD to try it. It was okay. For dinner I started with shishito peppers. They were really good and the serving was huge. HUGE! This could have been my meal (and in the future probably will be). I will also have them out the there sauce on the side). Then I had the "Kale-and-Salmon Sashimi Salad." Everything on it was amazing. The kale was crispy (e.g. dashi fried) and then there was orange slices, candied walnuts, salmon sashimi, with a truffle oil and ponzu sauce. Every roll that I got were absolutely delicious and the customer service was awesome. I have been wanting to try Rock-n-Sake before a while because I follow them on instagram. A lot of their rolls are really unique and I want to try more. It lived up to my hype and the ingredients were really fresh. The only reason why I am not giving 5 stars is because I felt the rolls were quite small for about $15 each. I was still hungry afterwards, but I still loved the rolls. I ordered extra food, and including drinks and tip, spent close to $100. However, when I got home I was slightly disappointed with a couple of things in my order. In my humble opinion, the "monthly roll" or specialty roll that I decided to try, while very tasty, was a little small considering the price. The only other complaint that I had was that I ordered the sashimi platter... 21 pieces of fish, and this came with no ginger or wasabi at all. I don't like feeling as if I have to check my to-go order before I walk out of a restaurant, but sometimes oversights like this make me wish that I had.
