I visited on a Friday around noon. Service was fast and friendly. The young lady taking and bringing out the orders checked on me several times. I ordered the pork egg rolls and Thai wings. I also had the Thai tea. Everything was cooked to order. Hot and fresh. The egg rolls were fried crispy and came with a delicious sweet sauce. The Thai wings were okay. They were fried crispy and came with a sweet chili sauce and sweet sauce on the side. I would've preferred mine to be tossed in the sauce. The Thai tea was sweet and had a nice flavor. The price was decent. I paid less than $28. Inside was clean and had a nice lunch crowd. I'd definitely return to try additional items.

This is a hidden gem in a small strip. Our daughter introduced us to this place and we went for lunch. Small cozy and clean restaurant. The owner is very friendly and the service is great. We ordered the pad Thai, green curry, papaya salad and cauliflower. They came out hot and very tasty. The peanut sauce is delicious.

My favorite Thai place!! So so delicious! I am always greeted by the staff. Very friendly attentive staff! The Khao Soi is so delicious and my go-to every time I'm here. I recommend it to everyone. My favorite place that sells Khao Soi. The dry tom yum is also insanely good. I will say, their medium is spicy spicy. I personally think the Thai Tea was really sweet so only a few sips and I am done with it. The inside was very cozy I love the vibes of this place.

I got a very basic order with pad Thai, Thai tea, and mango sticky rice. The pad Thai was with shrimp and was a generous serving! The taste of it was very good also The Thai tea has to be the best Thai tea I've had in the city for sure! The mango sticky rice was also good and a generous serving, I wish the rice was a tad bit sweeter. The service was very very nice. I could see that they were busy on a Friday night, but the service was still much better than many places. The restaurant itself was very simple but enjoyable. The energy of the place was great!! I would eat here again definitely

Friendly staff! Delicious food! Very busy and a very small dining room with tables close together. The flavors were a 10! My friend said she has to stop herself from eating there more than 3 times a week because of her budget lol They have all the condiments you need-chopped peanuts, red pepper, etc

Lunch specials - $10 every day they are open!

This is a solid choice for quick lunch. They have daily lunch specials for ~$11.99, and options include pad Thai or fried rice and an egg roll. I usually can't decide and get a little bit of everything!

I see why everyone loves Chai Thai-Lao! The service is impeccable, I felt the lady at the counter was genuinely nice and made sure we had everything in our to-go order. The food was spot-on: no fatty pieces of meat, very hot and fresh, customizable, etc. I know lots of people mentioned wait time in past reviews, so I made sure to place my order long before arriving which you might need to consider. I will absolutely be returning soon for some great Thai food in BR that meets high expectations!!

Chai Tai-Lao is in a small shopping center off of Jefferson Highway. Interior sit down area is minimalistic, with self-serve napkins, spoons, forks and drinks. It is accessible by wheelchair. Very, very clean which is always appreciated. You can eat in or take out. We ate there. Prices are not cheap. Total bill for two entrees (Drunken Noodles and Pepper Steak Basil) and two softs drinks, was $44. Prices of entrees and rice/noodle dishes are not even printed on the menu. Add in an appetizer and you'll need a $50 bill plus a fiver. Food was brought out very quickly, steaming hot and portions were generous. Basil pepper steak was good. Good basil taste. A little strong on the salt and had a hint of soy sauce which I'm not used to in a Thai dish. It had a ton of vegetables and beef, including red and green peppers, basil, thin sliced carrots, onions and ... string beans ... the latter of which I'm not used to seeing in my Thai dishes. A comment on the saltiness. An overuse of salt is usually a good indicator that the underlying flavor of a dish (or lack thereof) is being covered up. You'll have to judge this for yourself. The drunken noodles tasted good, a little sweet, with pretty much the same vegetables. My dining partner got it level 2 (out of 4) on the spicy scale, which was more than enough. Try levels 3 or 4 at your own peril, lol. Overall we were pleased and may be back. It's not the best Thai we've had in the Baton Rouge area, but if you're on Perkins near I-12 and hankering for some Thai, it will do. Just be prepared for the prices.

Blissful RUN to this Thai restaurant. Seriously, hands down amazing! You order your food at the counter and sit, they will deliver to you at the table. They had an amazing amount of to go orders - I was surprised! We each got an appetizer, the cauliflower and chicken satay which was delicious! These could have been meals on their own. We got the Pad Thai and then the Khao Soi - Y'ALL!!! The soup/ramen was so good. The broth had so much amazing flavor that you literally don't want to stop eating. While the chicken pad Thai was good, I'd recommend the soup over anything! This is truly a hidden gem in BR! The staff is amazing and they deliver a pleasant experience. The service is outstanding and they go above and beyond.

Chai Thai Lao 8733 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge, LA 70809 It's not often that I eat Thai food since I don't usually crave it. I can admit, though, in my own opinion that Chai Thai Lao has the best Thai food in Baton Rouge. Even the owners are top-notch in caring about the customers along with their impeccable service. From beginning to end, everything we've ordered was just mind blown. Expect to see me back here! 1. Thai tea and Green Tea (limited item) 2. Chicken wings (favorite) 3. Medium spice Level papaya salad 4. Beef and chicken medium spice level larb (favorite) 5. Medium spice level chicken pad thai. 6. Mango sticky rice (dessert) #Tonylameats #chaithailao #thaifood #batonrougela

Great lunch spot! The lunch food is already premade so you can just pick it right up. The portion is huge! The service is great, it's super small so fairly intimate. The egg roll was the highlight for me, perfect crunch.

Chai Thai-Lao is my ultimate lunch spot. I can't recommend their daily lunch special enough; my husband and I often split it because it's incredibly generous! It's always freshly prepared, piping hot, and ready to enjoy. With two enticing entree choices paired with either fried rice, pad Thai, or both, there's something for everyone. You can even indulge in all four options if you're feeling adventurous, and it always includes a delicious egg roll. All this goodness for just around $13! Whether you prefer dining in or taking it to-go, Chai Thai-Lao never disappoints.

It's nestled into a strip mall on Highland Road near its junction with Boyd. This area has ample surface parking. The interior is simple and contemporary, allowing diners to focus on the menu. Indian cuisine can be complex, and there are a lot of choices offered. However, the menu does a good job of explaining the dishes and their ingredients. It's fun to try out different things and learn about new dishes that one might like. I'm trying to break out of the habit of always trying a dish I'm familiar with. In my last visit I ordered Chicken Masala Noodles which is definitely different. Can't say as I have ever had an Indian pasta dish before. The service is both subdued and attentive, which is classy. They will surprise you with their appearance just when they are needed.

The dishes feel familiar yet completely refreshed with unique ingredient tweaks that really elevate everything. Every bite felt intentional, bold, and full of depth. It's the perfect blend of traditional Indian flavors with a modern edge. The vibe is also a little more upscale and edgy than your typical Indian restaurant, which I loved. It's different enough to feel exciting, but still comforting if you're a fan of classic Indian food. Easily a new favorite.

We were in Baton Rouge helping our grandson move into his dorm as an incoming freshman at LSU, and Parrain's kept coming up in our searches and reviews. We decided to give it a try, and I'm SO glad we did! We visited on a Sunday afternoon around 2:30 p.m., and when I tell you EVERYBODY and their family was there... I mean everybody! The parking lot was packed. There is plenty of parking, but there were so many people that we still had to hunt for a spot. Thankfully, we found one under a shade tree because it was HOT! When we walked up, we fully expected a long wait. There is plenty of outdoor seating for people waiting, and I also noticed they have both steps and an accessibility ramp leading to the entrance. My daughter and I sat down while my husband stood in line to put our name on the list. About five minutes later, he was waving for us to come inside! Apparently, many of the people waiting were large groups and families coming from church, but since there were only three of us, they were able to seat us almost immediately. HUGE plus! Once inside, it was BUSY, BUSY, BUSY. It took our server a little while to initially get to us, but considering how packed the restaurant was, it really wasn't bad at all. Our waitress was very nice, and I was actually impressed with how quickly our food came out. Now let's talk about the FOOD!! We first ordered the onion rings for an appetizer... super delicious I ordered the fried shrimp platter, and those shrimp were fried to PERFECTION! Crispy, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. The meal also came with salad, fries, hush puppies, and a side. The hush puppies were SO GOOD! They are shaped almost like little donut holes... crispy on the outside and soft and savory on the inside. Delicious! For my side, I chose the fresh green beans instead of the dirty rice. Unfortunately, those were the one thing I didn't enjoy. They didn't have much flavor to me and seemed a little undercooked. Next time, I'll definitely choose another side. My husband ordered the fried catfish platter with dirty rice, coleslaw, and fries, and he loved everything. I tasted his coleslaw, and OH MY GOODNESS! Get the coleslaw! It was different from any coleslaw I've had before. It has whole peanuts in it, which sounds unusual, but somehow it WORKS! The peanuts add this wonderful crunch and flavor. It was SO good. And the French fries!! I've never seen fries cut this way before. They're almost shaped like little Scoop Fritos, with a crispy outside and soft potato inside. So unique and really good! My daughter ordered the catfish strips and fries from the kids' menu. These weren't processed little nuggets... they were actual pieces of catfish cut into strips, and she really enjoyed them. She also ordered the crab fingers, and those were another 10/10! They were incredibly well-seasoned with a little spice and tons of flavor. I tasted one and wanted MORE! I'm watching my sodium intake, so I behaved myself, but they were absolutely delicious. Overall, Parrain's was a 10/10 for us. The only thing I wouldn't personally order again would be the green beans. Everything else, from the shrimp and catfish to those amazing hush puppies, unique fries, crab fingers, and especially that coleslaw, was DELICIOUS. Yes, it was crowded and lively, but we still received really good service and didn't have to wait nearly as long as we expected. With our grandson now attending LSU, we'll be making plenty of trips back to Baton Rouge, and Parrain's has officially made our list of places we will be visiting again!

I had really been looking forward to trying Parrain's Seafood, but unfortunately my experience was…read moredisappointing. Our waitress, Kate M., didn't have the best customer service. She came across as short, unfriendly, and overall not very pleasant. I first ordered a Banana Foster's Martini, but she came back and said they didn't have the ingredients. No problem--I asked for an Espresso Martini instead. A few minutes later, after bringing everyone else's drinks, she returned and simply said they couldn't make that either and asked if I wanted something else. At that point, I just declined. When it was time to order, our table had nine people. She took my husband's order, then went around the table taking everyone else's order. By the time she got back to me, she said, "Okay, is that it?" I had to remind her that she hadn't taken my order yet. I ordered the crab and corn bisque, a salad, and the stuffed catfish with creamed spinach. The salad came out quickly and was very good. Then everyone else at the table received their meals while I only received my bisque. After waiting, I was told my stuffed catfish "didn't come out right" and had to be remade. At that point, I honestly wondered if it was a joke. It wasn't. By the time my entrée arrived, everyone else was nearly finished eating. To the restaurant's credit, they did remove the stuffed catfish from my bill, and I appreciated that. However, the entire experience left me feeling overlooked from start to finish. My biggest suggestion would be for our waitress to work on her customer service. A smile goes a long way. Saying things like "Give me that plate," slamming cups onto the table, and appearing annoyed throughout the meal doesn't create a welcoming dining experience. Hospitality is just as important as the food, and I hope this feedback is taken constructively.
