Restaurant is charming and beautiful and they have a what appears like a solid menu with some interesting choices, but the dozen or so times over the past 10 years i've been there it's just so underwhelming. The food tastes fine, there's no major issues culinarily; it just never meets expectations to the point my wife and I roll our eyes and groan every time it comes up in the "Where should we go for dinner?" conversation. Always a great meal at Byronz! Really enjoyed the back of the stove chicken this time. It's warm and comforting. The gumbo and French onion soup are always good. The blue cheese chips are a must order, even if you don't like blue cheese. Really can't go wrong here. The vodka freeze is also a great frozen drink to try. Try it at their great happy hour, M-F 3-6! Inside is snazzy and a good place to take family. Service is always helpful and great. Lately we have been going to the Government location. I need to be better about letting them know how well they do. This time we went came to the Village Plaza. It was 2pm on a Sunday. An hour before closing. We were seated quickly, but felt forgotten. Finally placed our order at 20 minutes later. Our food was a little hit and miss. Boudin Benedict, was room temperature. I had the Honey Poulette pancakes, this is where we were disappointed. The pancakes were over done, black around the edges and lacked any flavor. The chicken was the best thing from our brunch. Husband had coffee, he got one cup and asked for more. His second cup was only half and told it was the last of the coffee in house. I'm obsessed with the back of the stove chicken, it's soooo flavorful and delicious. My only issue is that the portions aren't consistent, sometimes it fills the entire to go container and other times it'll only cover maybe 2/3 of it. Same with the amount of chicken it comes with, sometimes it's more veggies than chicken. If the portions were consistent, I'd easily give this 5 stars! It tastes like a home cooked meal. My French 75 was just ok. Nothing to write home about. Had to add some ice to it bc it wasn't very cold. And not sure why it had a cherry in it, That's a first. We ordered a spinach dip. It was luke warmed. My husband asked if we should send it back I told him not worth it. Our server was not very prompt even with us being her only table. The chips were very good though. Dip would have been a lot better if it was hot. My husband ordered the Salmon Grillé (Salmon filet, herb butter, roasted potatoes) $26.95. It was very good. He enjoyed it. I had the Steak Frites $19.45 (Romaine, sliced grilled steak, tomato, bleu cheese, pommes frites, pepperjelly vinaigrette) the dressing was very refreshing and light. The steak could have been seasoned more. I ordered it medium and it was more of a medium rare. The frites were crispy and good. I feel like a crispy onion string would be better with this salad but all in all it was good. I had a glass of red house wine with it and it paired well. All in all it was just ok. The food was tasteless, the crispy onion strings were out of a can on what they call a hamburger steak which was literally a bland dry hamburger patty. Not my definition of hamburger steak. Where has this little gem been all my life? :) My family and I went to eat here last night for my dad's birthday. I've read about this restaurant and wanted to give it a try. We came at 5pm and we were one of the only few customers that was inside dining. Let me first start off by saying, the exterior and interior is such a beautiful and modern built establishment, decorated with the cutest Christmas decor. We sat down and immediately were greeted by our waitress with a smile (I hate to admit this, but she was blonde with medium to long hair and I forgot her name but she was amazing) We ordered the Hummus for an appetizer which was very creamy and delicious served with pita bread, cucumbers and carrots. The entrees we ordered were the Salmon Grillé with cream spinach and the Byronz Sandwich with the chips. My daughter had the Salmon and she said it was delicious but kinda on the salty side and the spinach was very good! My Byronz sandwich was delicious. The bread was toasted just right, piled high with meat and just enough of the sauce. The chips were nice and crispy as well. I even had leftovers for lunch the next day! My favorite frozen cocktail is here called the vodka freeze. I highly recommend trying it if you haven't already. It's so refreshing and delicious! I've tried multiple items on their menu but my go-to lately has been the melty club. This sandwich is so good! It consists of ham, turkey, bacon, tomato, cheddar, mozzarella, and honey mustard on grilled poboy bread. All of their sandwiches come with your choice of homefried chips, frites, or sweet potato frites. The frites are my favorite since I love shoestring fries. This time around I ordered the Creole Shrimp Salad, and the shrimps were not fresh. They tasted inedible, and I ended up mentioning it to my waiter. Mother's Day is probably not a good time to judge the speed of service- it's a busy place. After a slow start, service was attentive and friendly. Poisson Acadiana (fried catfish with crawfish etouffe) was okay but a bit bland. Shrimp and grits were also fair, with lots of cheese on top. But the "Gumbo po-boy" was great. It's hard to understand what a gumbo po-boy could be, but it came as I expected- the chicken and sausage from a good gumbo, ladled in a po-boy bun. The gumbo had a rich, dark roux, tender chicken, good sausage, and a perfect amount of cracked black pepper (I'm a fool for black pepper, so this was a huge hit for me). Definitely a knife and fork sandwich, but very good. A serious downside was the stone cold french fries. They serve shoestring fries, and those are nearly impossible to keep warm for long, and they are a significant distraction from otherwise good food. I love the bottle of water on the table (so my small little glass doesn't get empty, and on a nice day the outdoor dining is just perfect. Update: the wasabi chicken salad is very good, with just a hint of wasabi in the dressing. Cassoulet is great with notable flavor of thyme and oregano, and very good grilled duck sausage. The pita on the hummus plate is warm and crispy, and the veggies are fresh and bright )the hummus is good, too) Three stars: great atmosphere with some great menu choices and some not-so-great and some do poor choices. Upgraded to four stars - on a regular day, service is prompt, food is hot and served quickly. A nice little place for lunch on the patio. read more

NOWHERE have I seen a recipe for a freaking maraschino cherry in it! I outgrew this by the time I was twelve! I then ordered the Seafood Salad. I'm glad I got the dressing on the side, because the house dressing it came with was blah. I got the Rosemary Orange vinaigrette and that was good. Then a party of 7 came in. Four of them were teenage girls. LOUD TEENAGE GIRLS! They have private rooms. Bistro Byronz won me over with their original location years ago, so I was excited to finally catch them on this side of town. Each time I have been, the staff has been very good and attentive. You are usually greeted by 2 or 3 hostesses. The decor is true to the original location, even the feeling of the floor slanting and dips in the floor (I don't know if this was intentional, but it is a nice nod to the original). They have a happy hour, but it is not very grand for drinks. They have a good appetizer selection though. On my last visit, I had a glass of the house red, and it tasted like it had been sitting out for a week. They have a lot of mixed drinks, so maybe I'll just stick to those. I did have a server try to talk me into a fruity drink even after saying i don't like bright colored drinks full of sugar. I finally ended up just ordering a super expensive glass of wine that still didn't knock me out. While the ambiance is good and the service is good, this location's food has never been on point. I ordered the turkey burger on my first visit, and of course it was good. On my next visit, I ordered the chicken paillard (sp), and the chicken was extremely dry with little seasoning. On my last visit, i ordered the tuna, rare/flash seared. When it came out, it was cooked more than I even like steak cooked. The asparagus it was served with was cold and shriveled. I would have sent it back, but we were in a group, and I didn't want to get my food 15 minutes later and be the only one left eating. The server had even noted when i put my order in and said flash seared, "Oh, so very rare." So i know the order was noted as such. I look forward to going to the relocated Government Street location to see if that location gets it right. read more

I'm moving away from Louisiana so I had to visit before I left. Before the pandemic we would eat here once a week. My husband loved their veggie burger which they no longer offer but he is able to order enough sides to make a meal. Their carrot soufflé is delicious! We like that they have steamed broccoli and roasted potatoes since my husband is vegan. I usually get the Bistro Salad with chicken as it has mandarin oranges, pecans and cranberries. I find it is very filling. The staff is very friendly and helpful but I feel they are overwhelmed now that there are less people working in the restaurant industry. Had a great Sunday brunch here recently. Was a little disappointed that only seating options were the bar or outside. It was becoming steadily hotter outside so that was not an option. They did not inform me if this was due to us not having a reservation. Regardless an explanation would've been appreciated so I could know better for next time if they are pushing a reservation only model. Sitting at the bar turned out to be great though thanks to SAM. She took care of us and never let a drink run dry. Bonus points in my book. We split the 3 cheese chips which were AMAZING. Eat them quick even if you're talking and catching up because the cheese sauce does make them soggy fast. My friend ordered the brunch bowl and enjoyed it. I ordered the bacon honey chicken biscuit but was a little disappointed. The biscuit was way too big and dense for me to even attempt to eat the top bun so I focused on the chicken and bottom, I wish the chicken had been seasoned better and the biscuit wasn't sitting on top the honey, made it a little soggy but the potatoes on the side were fantastic. !!!Drinks!!! Frozen mimosa was a game changer, on such a hot day this was such a refreshing drink and I was shocked to here what all was actually in it.
