This place was great! I've passed it many times driving down Government Street. It's typically very packed on the weekend but service was still exceptional! John our server was amazing, very attentive, suggested menu items, new cocktails, and more! This place is great for Burch dates, small and large groups. The outdoor patio was pleasant and very enjoyable for a spring Sunday morning! The cocktails were amazing! We tried the brown sugar bacon old fashion, the queens tea- a cocktail with hibiscus tea, strawberry, and sparking wine, the espresso martini, and the new spring peach cocktail that came with the candy peach rings as garnishment that was super cute! The service was somewhat slow on a Monday morning around brunch. My buffalo chicken sandwich was pretty good. It was lacking some flavor, but was pretty fresh. The Mac n cheese was not my favorite. Pretty bland and I'm not a fan of super creamy Mac but if you like that, you'll love it. I got a hot chocolate because it was cold outside but it was just average. At the suggestion of the waitress I tried the Hashbrown Ranchero Chorizo (hash browns, pepperjack queso, 2 eggs, salsa verde) with my eggs medium over easy (I didn't know that was possible) and less just say I enjoy every morsel of this bowl as a first timer! The atmosphere was nice and bubbly with the waitress being attentive but still allow you to enjoy yourself. Now, the drink. It was DELICIOUS. A nice balance of libations with a twist. It has a bar at one end of the restaurant and a small bakery at the other, The service was top notch. I thought the menu was a tad expensive until I took the first bite of a $21 chicken fried steak dinner. Best CFS I've ever had eaten. Great crust, huge plate filling portion, excellent white cream gravy . And it came with three sides. I opted for green beans, corn and jalapeños and a salad. Again, all excellent. The food was good but I was disappointed that they did not have the ruben cruffle. I wish they had chicken fried chicken instead of the steak because it was a bit chewy but still good. I got sweet potato fries lightly fried and were perfect and the mac and cheese is creamy. The place looks nice and clean as does the bathrooms. They have books for kids to read. Decor is nice. I've been here several times and I like this place but I have mixed thoughts on the chicken biscuit: the chicken & gravy was great but the biscuit was all hard & not so great. If you haven't tried one then your missing out. I've had the Red Velvet one several times and the Carrot Cake one too. They're both incredible! I wanted to love Spoke & Hub but it just wasn't there for me. The inside is so cute and they do have a good menu selection. I just wasn't a fan of what I ordered. I got the Avocado Toast on a Croffle (a croissant toasted in a waffle press). It was just kind of underwhelming. I think that the concept is fun but (in my opinion) most people who are ordering avocado toast are sometimes looking for something on a somewhat healthier side. It disappeared quickly. Ordered a Bloody Mary to go with it, and it was well-balanced with a good kick. For my main dish, I went with the Ranchero Breakfast Bowl from their 'Breakfast All Day' menu (which I love). Eggs are made to order (I opted for scrambled which I recommend) and the queso hit the spot without being too heavy. We sat outside on a beautiful day, which made the experience even better. We ordered cocktails, an Espresso martini for me and an old fashioned for him. We started with the hash puppies, which were good. They were fried with a soft hash inside, along with bacon and cheese. They come with a side of sour cream, but they are pretty tasty without! We tried the chicken and Croffle sliders and the Louisiana Hot Brown for our entrees! Both of them were great! the Louisiana Hot Brown is definitely my new favorite! The soft bun and the jalapeno spread are the perfect pairs for the ham and chicken! It's got flavor and a little spice! There were only a few people there, so we had the undivided attention of our absolutely charming waitress. Spoke & Hub has been a place I been wanting to try for a while considering how much my coworker raves about this hot spot on government street. My partner and I came here for restaurant week which we were ecstatic for! First thing first was the location is on government street which is a very trendy area. We ordered a variety of things such as the sweet and stout, blueberry flapjack cake, vanilla soft serve with blueberry cobbler to start off with. For the entrees we got from the restaurant week menu the shrimp scampi, the savory croffle (with the egg on the side), and lastly the shrimp and grits. Sweet and stout- My partner wasn't a huge fan but I loved it considering I'm a huge stout guy, having that blended into a milkshake was such a decadent drink to have during this meal. Bluberry Flapjack cake- was really good and recommended by the waitress, soft and sweet along with the consistency of a pancake but lighter made it a great dessert to have. Vanilla Soft serve with blueberry cobbler- was okay nothing special in my opinion but it wasn't bad , the cobbler was more on the tart side and the soft serve was pretty good. Shrimp scampi- was not good at all, I'm not picky when it comes to pasta but it definitely had me scratching my head when eating it. The pasta was very bland and extremely oily, the flavor wasn't there as well as the shrimp lacked it as well. Savory Croffle- I mainly came to this restaurant for the croffle which I heard about and wanted to try but this definitely left me very lackluster as well. The croffle was basically burnt to where it tasted bitter, I can deal with slightly burnt but it was more burnt then I would have liked it to be. The avocado spread on top of it was very very acidic, like as if they added quadruple the portion they should have of lemon juice unless its suppose to be like that. Shrimp and grits- Ah yes the saving grace to the meal, not much needs to be said about this dish. The dish was very good, shrimp seasoned very well in this dish as well as the grits had a lot of flavor as well. The grit cake was cooked very well with the dish as well. Overall I would come back to update my score, considering one of the dishes that was lackluster was a restaurant week dish which I assumed isn't a regular menu item. The food itself was very mediocre outside of the shrimp and grits, the drinks and dessert was definitely worth it for me out of everything I gotten. read more
