Since this cafe is located inside the Foyer, a very big boutique that sells artwork, jewelry, and other gift worthy products, at first I worried if I stepped into the right place because it was like a maze in there! But eventually I was eventually able to find the counter to order food (which is towards the back of the Foyer). I ordered the GARDEN GOBBLER and GRILLED CHEESE for my little one. The sandwich comes with a bag of chips and I chose a fruit cup for my other order. I love how there's so much veggies as much as the meat in the sandwich. It was delicious! We ordered to go from the counter and it came out so fast! I enjoyed the art work that is hung all around the eating area.

Ok I felt a little odd walking through this interior design store (Forum) to the restaurant in the back...but I'm so glad I did! The pecan and avocado sandwich was amazing and so was the red pepper soup! Support this hidden gem!

How have I not done a review of my favorite lunch place?! Since moving to BR, lunch at Heather V's have been my greatest hidden gem discovery! I was unsure about getting food here since it's in a shop, but I read so many great yelp reviews and gave it a try. It was a double win since the Foyer is also a fantastic place to get local gifts! Pro tip: while this is a lunch spot, they will also be serving breakfast during the holiday season for the Foyer's extended hours. The first thing I ordered here was a combo lunch, and I was so obsessed with the shack salad that it's now the only thing I order! They have a variety of fresh salads, sandwiches, and a daily soup option. The Shack Salad is a fantastic salad topped with golden raisins, tomatoes, onion, hearts of palm, feta, and tossed in a lemon Parmesan dressing. I suggest adding their chicken and a side of the sensation dressing. I could drink a gallon of the sensation dressing. It's a creamy, garlicky dressing made in house. Don't skip out on the side of garlicky Parmesan bread either! Heather V's is my absolute favorite place to grab a salad in BR. You can also call in an order and pick up carry out. They always have my order ready in about 10 minutes. Their staff is always friendly and welcoming. Check out this hidden gem for the best fresh lunch in BR!

The ultimate "secret garden" of lunch spots! A definite must-try!! Upon entering the Foyer gallery and zig-zagging through this artistic labyrinth to find my way to the rear, I encountered beautiful antiques, paintings, sculptures and furniture to finally arrive where the cafe was located! I immediately knew the food was going to be amazing, when I noticed the line was long and the cafe was filled with many hungry lunch-goers. It was a superb experience from the beginning! The cafe was nestled within all the exciting art work, furnished with rustic and antique-y tables/chairs. Even the bathroom did not look like a bathroom...it was a mini art gallery!! They are only open from 11am - 3pm M-F (closed on Saturdays), so it is the perfect place for lunch! I ordered the Shack Salad: mixed greens, hearts of palm (my favorite part), feta, tomato, cucumber, golden raisins with a zesty lemon parmesan dresing and topped with fresh Romano cheese! The great thing is there is a "small" & "large" option for most of the salads. Thank you for doing that...some do not have big appetite, so the small is a perfect size! Plus, it comes with a piece of garlic toast (a little of that buttery-garlicy goodness won't hurt, right)? After I finished my lunch, I just sat there and took it all in...the beauty of the art pieces and just the feeling of comfort and contentment made me want to stay! The owner of the cafe - Ms Heather V herself was an absolute delight!! You can just see her passion for food come through! I was also so excited to hear that she offers catering of this marvelous food, too!! Thank you for such stellar experience!! I am going to be back very soon!! Looking for a great lunch place if you are close to Acadian & Perkins? Come here...experience this eclectic cafe!

Green Onion and Havarti Grilled Cheese

I stumbled upon this place located INSIDE a business called "The Foyer" on Perkins near Acadian. I love discovering "hidden treasures" sorts of places and telling other people about them so I thought I'd give it a try, in hopes that this would turn out to be just that sort of thing. In a word: It was. Tucked away in the corner, weaving your way back through little nooks and display areas - you eventually come upon a smallish, unassuming little cafe in the back, right portion of the building. Because it is situated in what I would call an Art Gallery/Home Furnishing kind of store, despite its size it has a simple, stylish, artsy feel with lots of works from various artists adorning the walls - and quite nice works at that! On to the food: I didn't order from the menu but am including pictures of it for the curious. Instead I ordered the two specialty items of the day: a cup of lentil soup with kale, olive oil and Romano cheese and, as an accompaniment, I ordered the Green Onion and Havarti Grilled Cheese. The sandwich came with a choice of packaged chips. Both were very well done, in my opinion. The lentil soup was hearty and tasty without being overly busy. The kale and Romano cheese were a nice addition to what I have typically seen. The sandwich was also nicely done. I would personally have grilled it a bit more with a little butter - but not everyone has my obsession with butter! The green onion and Havarti were generously present, and the flavor was very good and not overstated. Dipping it in the Lentil soup seemed the way to go and it ended up being a nice pairing - which I'm sure they intended. The only thing missing was a Chardonnay or Pinot Grigio! Maybe another time... All in all, a nice little spot and great find, for me. The menu has some other items that I will want to try in the future so looking forward to a return visit.

Yumm.... beautiful and delicious. The curried pumpkin and crawfish soup is off this world delicious. Quality comes first here.

We had a wonderful breakfast at Simple Joe's Cafe in Baton Rouge!…read more I ordered the shrimp and grits, and it was absolutely delicious--creamy, well-seasoned grits topped with perfectly cooked shrimp and a flavorful sauce that tied everything together beautifully. My husband had an omelette with peppers and bacon, and he really enjoyed it. It was fluffy, generously filled, and cooked just right, with great smoky flavor from the bacon and a nice kick from the peppers. It's a small restaurant with a small open kitchen and a small dining room where you stand in line to place your order, get a number to put on your table, and servers bring the food to your table when it's ready. So, if you're looking for a large upscale, elegant restaurant with elaborate food presentations, this is not the place for you. But if you're looking for a simple, quick and delicious meal, Simple Joe Café is for you. The menu consists of a wide variety of breakfast favorites, but the menu is not intimidating and easy to read and order from. Simple enough. When my family and I arrived, the small dining room was packed with a few open tables and about six other customers in line waiting to place their order. On Saturday and Sunday, you cannot sit at the open tables or hold the tables until you have placed your order and given a tent number. At that point, the servers will help you find a table to accommodate your party. The employees do a very good job of clearing and turning over the tables to make sure everyone is seated and able to enjoy their meal in a timely manner. I am not a fan of breakfast food and normally don't eat breakfast, so I only had coffee while my family enjoyed their meal, so the food quality part of this review is based on what they described as they were eating. They each ordered Joe's Number One Breakfast Combos which came with two eggs, choice of meat and pancakes and they shared an order of hashbrown and a side of grits. The food came out quickly. They stated everything was fresh, prepared and cooked as requested, the food tasted very good and enjoyed every bite. Of course, the coffee was hot, and fresh and the service was fast and friendly. The relaxed ambience and decor add to the unique character of the restaurant. Date of Visit: Saturday 05-16-26 Simple Joe Café | 3057 Government St, Baton Rouge, LA

Strolled in around 7:00 p.m. I was the only person here except for another gentlemen who actually just walked through the door. Neat little place. Pretty clean from what I can see and kind of off decorum, but in a good way! I walked in and was immediately greeted with my server. Super nice, super sweet and super polite southern gal, like they usually are which is why I stay in the south. That Southern hospitality, ya dig? Anyways she had me pick my table, and then immediately brought me a menu and took my drink order. I gazed over the menu, and by the time she brought my beverage I was ready to order. I WAS going to go for the chicken adobo, but I didn't want rice because it will keep me up tonight because I don't eat a lot of complex carbohydrates. I hope the pancit noodles won't either. I ordered the all meat Pancit. $22. Came with a little bit of beef, chicken, and shrimp. Good size shrimp too! Came out PIPING hot, and flavorful. I made eye contact which whom I'm pretty sure is owner of this place. I smiled, and she said sternly, "Oh hi!" Hahaha! Kind of reminded me of a nice 'soup Nazi' from Seinfeld. I know Sriracha is Vietnamese, but I asked for soy sauce and sriracha, but they don't have any sort of oriental hot sauce and I wasn't about to put red dot on it. So soy sauce it was. I kind of threw my server for a loop, when I asked for chopsticks hahaha!!! It wasn't a super huge portion, but it was perfect for me. I could see how nitpickers would complain, but, no complaints here! Thank you for a great meal, and the next time I park here, I'll definitely be coming back in! ***DISCLAIMER*** This pure, uncut, honest review is federally protected under Federal Law by way of Bill #EO14149. However, if you would rather let them prepare your meal for you, that's an excellent option as well. I think they have a first rate muffuletta, and it's important to have the right bread and meats for those. This is something they have covered! Their Po-Boys are also my favorites. These are pressed so they are crispy and flattened. I typically like to get these with a small salad, which is indeed an excellent choice. If you have room, there's always some great dessert choices. Another consideration is picking up something to take home for later, I think a tub of high quality imported olives are a good selection. Don't forget their cheeses as well, these can lift your home cooking to a higher level.
