I see the pictures of the lattes and good looking food so I decide to give this a shot. Let's start with the flat white that I ordered. It came warm in a giant cappuccino mug and I don't even think she steamed the milk (the picture is actually how it came, I didn't touch it yet). They pride themselves on their coffee and I was impressed that they even had a flat white on the menu so I had high hopes. I also ordered the poached egg on the biscuit which came out as a hard boiled egg on top of a stale biscuit. I asked for an egg that wasn't " hard-boiled" and guess what came back on top... a mini quiche. I could see the confusion though, the cook probably thought that I wanted an egg prepared a different way than before. Anyway, the cheese on it wasn't even melted and the arugula was slimy like cooked spinach. Coffee egg cheese biscuit arugula . The only thing I ate was the old dry bacon. Flowers on the table were old, and their water was changed sometime in the 1940's which draws the gnats flying around them, some trash on the floor, and a smell. Such a cool spot!! It's a cafe, bar, and restaurant all-in-one. I got the Dubai chocolate matcha which I loved. You couldn't really taste the matcha but the chocolate cold foam was delicious paired with the pistachio syrup. I got the flatbread and it was yummy! Location: It's convenient. We chose this place because it was within walking distance from our hotel. We could have chosen pretty much any other restaurant within the same block but decided that, due to the pictures, this place was worth the try. Ambience: It tries to convey a message of "something old and something new". The something new is brutalist: steel wire wall dividers, low seating chairs, exposed cement walls. The something old is an old piano in the corner and vintage furniture. Service: Nothing to note...which is a great thing. The front-of-house is young and courteous. We were greeted upon entering and given menus to look through. There was one food-runner, one bartender, and two people helming the register/café counter. We ordered fried shrimp bites, 3 Sister's Panini, and a Seared Tuna Salad. After seating ourselves with our number, one of the cashiers apologetically explained that they had run out of shrimp. She quickly took my adjustment and changed the bill. We ended up getting the Artichoke Dip, instead. Food: Artichoke Dip: warm and creamy. The chips were thin which complimented the dip well. The artichoke flavor could have been more pronounced, though. Three Sister's Panini: this was my friend's order and the critique he gave was "Great for the first two bites but soon became boring. Fries are great!". Take with that what you will, I didn't take a bite of the panini. Seared Ahi Tuna Salad: overall the flavors worked great. Fish and citrus is a tried-and-true combination. The salad dressing was light and tart so as to not overpower the delicate fish. There were also pieces of mandarin oranges tossed throughout to add more subtle sweetness and citrus. The salad was easy to eat and it did hit the spot. My only critique for the salad would be the way the tuna was prepared. The sear didn't reach the right high temperature so the exterior lacked the Maillard reaction that I was looking for. Either that or the tuna wasn't patted dry before being added to a hot pan. The color was a light grey. The fish was also chewy in many places due to the connective tissue still being present. I believe this is the reason why many places choose to cut their tuna completely into slices, a chewy fish has an awkward mouthfeel. Because the tissues were still connected at the base, I had to use my knife. The tuna ended up falling apart slightly due to my knife work. Flavor and texture of the fish, besides the tissues, was great. The fish was exceedingly tender which speaks to the quality. Conclusion: I would recommend this place. I didn't have the time to try the café or bar portions of the restaurant so I can't speak to those. The food is great for a nice afternoon meal! read more

Definitely DO NOT leave the table to the restroom, not even for a single minute- They'll clean the table, throw away the expensive drinks, and leave only your personal belongings that you left to clearly signal you weren't done yet. She asked for ids. A group of three ppl had just approached, all literally young enough to be my children. One recognizes me from meeting a few weeks ago, and we quickly chat. I say that I haven't ordered and that the bartender doesn't seem to be very interested in her job at the moment. They go and sit and then we ask again for cups of water and she says she needs ids. I'm almost 40 years old and no I one look it but again, I know I looked older than the group of kids you just didn't ask. And the other person is literally someone's grandma. So I say never mind I don't want anything bc the others are still waiting for Their wine. Long story, we asked her to cancel the wine for The two since the other 3 were waiting and hadn't ordered. I walked over to tell the ppl I knew goodbye and their food had arrived but they were complaining about the bartender. Saying the same things we felt, like she didn't want to be at work, not welcoming at all to the guests. They also never got to order their drinks, only their food. So we left and walked across the street. I was upset bc my cousins from out of town asked for a fun happy hour that was lowkey adult vibes with good drinks and today didn't live up to that. The Vintage is one of my favorite places to visit for a laid back date, drink and bite to eat. I love how multifunctional this place is. You could have brunch, lunch, a study group, or a meeting. The ambiance is just inviting and chill. The last time I went I tried the bbq chicken sandwich and fries. It was sooo good and the portion size was generous! The drinks are always good too! Definitely order an espresso martini, just perfection! The flatbread pizza is also one of my favorites! The chicken bacon ranch flatbread is so rich. INFESTED WITH BED BUGS. I went there to study a week ago and was sitting in one of the beige woven chairs closer to the bar area and after about an hour of sitting I realized something was crawling on me so I immediately killed it. When I got up to go get a napkin I noticed the chair was FILLED with bed bugs. I immediately told the staff and they took the chair outside. 5 days later my bottom area is covered in bites, and due to the localized area of the bites and i literally cannot sit down. The Vintage is located in downtown Baton Rouge with (metered) street parking available and a (paid) parking lot across the street. My husband and I came by here twice during our visit to Baton Rouge. Once last Monday night and another visit the next morning. Monday night The Vintage was closed for a private party so my husband decided to stop by here Tuesday morning because I wanted to try their beignets. We arrived around 8:30 am and found parking. My husband went inside to make a to go order while I waited in the car (it was pouring so might as well just let one person get wet and the other stay dry, lol). He ended up purchasing: An order of 3 beignets, $4.25 prior to tax- you can also order a single beignet ($1.75 prior to tax) if you wish and fancy kinds but I just wanted to go with the classic version. These beignets were made fresh to order so my husband waited ~10 minutes. They are definitely very good fresh. This came in a paper bag with a whole lot of powdered sugar (warning in case you don't want to get your shirt messy). These beignets are thick but had a nice bite and chew to it. Would order these again. Chai tea- this was very disappointing, as it tasted watered down and lacking cardamon and other key flavors in a chai tea. Would not recommend ordering this if you are expecting a good cup of chai tea. ----------------------------------- (Total= $10.17 after tax) Aside from the chai tea, I would love to come back here for the beignets and also would like to try some of the dishes on the menu. read more
