It was late and they were close to closing but the bartender, will I believe was his name, was so happy to have us. It was a group of 6 of us. We had multiple shots and cocktails during the 45-50 mins we were there. He even cut on some music for us to enjoy. My aperolz spritz was very good. I tried a tequila he recommended. This place is a gem. I returned multiple times while we were in town for business. Everything from the tasteful atmosphere to the service is what I have come to expect from a wine bar. If I had to nitpick, I'm not quite sure on their claim to having exceptional cuisine. It's nothing to get excited for, but that's just my opinion. I've visited Blend on multiple occasions and loved it every single time. My first visit was Thursday, May 11 I went for art and wine night it was a great atmosphere . You do have to be 21 to enter. I sat at the bar with my mom the service was great. I got a $7 crawfish pimiento dip, $10 a wine flight and (I'm not sure of this price) an aviation cocktail. on my wine flight I got (in order from left to right on the pic) the COZZAROLO I truly did not care for it, amezloi (could def be spelling that wrong) it was good but nothing spectacular it was a rosé jb Becker Riesling (the darker brown one) FAV WINE BY FAR On my second visit I loved it so much I came back the very next day I came during happy hour on that Friday. they have $7 cocktails from 5-7pm. I got three of those, an aviation, side car and an old fashion. Between us we split their ($26) large charcuterie board you get 5 choices of meat/cheese, one wine flight ( we enjoyed jb Becker once more and the Dm. Yoyo "akoibon" 2019 was a great selection) , and I got another crawfish pimento. Service was prompt and very friendly from Mackenzie. I will attach my receipt here. My most recent visit was on July 21st. There was an issue with our service. There was a private event going on. I asked the bartender (it's a guy with a very nice mustache) if they were completely closed or if it was just the upstairs. My "bubble of friends" and i decided to meet up for our annual holiday girls night out, and Blend was the location of choice. Online reservations do not appear to be working right now, but if you call, you'll get a spot. When we arrived, we realized there were plenty of places that others could have come, but we had a nice window spot with a view of the Christmas tree. Our server, Abigail was a gem! She offered some recommendations on a special they were having, and she confirmed the wine selection we were viewing would go nicely. We ordered a couple of charcuterie trays and bottles of wine. The chef's choice was really good, then we were able to create our own and experiment a little. We also ordered a flatbread that was really good overall. Blend really has come a long way over the years, and I look forward to more exciting changes in the future. Blend was an excellent choice to spend a festive holiday evening with my girlfriends! The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about the wine list and gave thoughtful suggestions based on our tastes. Upon walking into the restaurant we noticed a board advertising a meat and cheese charcuterie board and a bottle of wine for $60. Since there were five of us, we decided to go ahead order two. The Chef curated both boards differently based on our wine selection and preferences. Both were delicious and were a great deal for what we received. I was also really impressed with the wine list at Blend. My favorite was The Prisoner Saldo Zinfandel that was smooth and an excellent companion to the Duck & Bleu Flatbread we ordered. Outside of date night or an upscale evening with the girls, Blend is also a fantastic location to rent out for special occasions like a wedding reception or Holiday party. My boyfriend and I are new to town and we have been trying all the local spots. Tonight we came to Blend for a quick drink. The FUQUA SMASH -- ( bourbon, blackberry, raspberry, lemon) was so refreshing and had perfectly balanced flavors. Ill definitely be back for another. We left after our drinks. Well, a few hours later we were in the mood for something sweet, and we had saw a great dessert on their menu- so we decided to head on back to blend. When we arrived we were informed that the kitchen was unfortunately closed for the evening. Just as we were leaving to go home- the chef ( who was off work mind you) got off her barstool and said she would go make me some dessert!!!!!! I mean, she didn't have to do that, i was just speechless. How awesome is that!?!!! I didn't catch her name, but I wish I did because I want to say THANK YOU and express my gratitude. The Gelato was phenomenal. It was more than just Gelato- Blueberry Gelato with Brown Butter Cake and Hazelnut Crumble. To die for. I enjoy coming to Blend because normally the service is great and it is a lovely atmosphere to enjoy with friends! However, my last experience was a bit odd and disappointing. My friend's and I decided to head to Blend to celebrate her bachelorette party. The day of the event the manager called and asked "Are y'all still even coming?" which was honestly just one of the strangest ways to confirm a reservation. Nevertheless, we headed to the restaurant for our reservation. I do like making reservations before heading to Blend just because I normally come with a larger party. The process is super easy to do via their website and it's a great way to ensure that you have the space you need. When we arrived our waitress could barely contain her disdain when she saw the two balloons we had for our bachelorette. Now normally I understand people making snap judgements when they see balloons and sunglasses that say "Bride Party", but there were only six of us and we had two balloons, bride sunglasses, and the bachelorette was wearing a pink cape. We did not bring any inappropriate bachelorette items to the restaurant and were respectful and quiet the whole time. We even requested a table in the upstairs space in case we did get a little loud as to not bother the other patrons. However, our waitress's whole face and demeanor completely changed when she saw the balloons which was a bit off-putting. When it comes to food at Blend everything is delicious! We got the cheese plate, blue walnut dip, and carrot hummus to share. Each plate was delicious and our waitress explained the different cheeses and meats and made great suggestions which was very helpful. The carrot hummus was different but delightfully sweet and the blue walnut dip was a great flavorful contrast of salty, crunchy, and tangy. I ordered the petit filet which also came with potato gratin. The filet is only 4 oz. which is deceptively small, but it was well cooked and my potatoes were delicious. However, a friend at the table found an extremely large hair in her potatoes which definitely dampered the mood. She had planned to tell our waitress, but given her she did not feel comfortable discussing the hair incident with her. Though the food was absolutely delicious, barring the hair, the service was extremely slow. The time it took to order a simple cocktail to the time it took to actually get to the table was nearly 25 minutes. The appetizers and entrees also took a long time to get to the table. When we tried to reorder drinks it was nearly impossible because our waitress only check on us once every 30 minutes which was a tad ridiculous given that the restaurant was pretty empty. Most of the time my water glass was empty given how few times our waitress showed up. Tl;dr: The food was delicious, but a friend found a hair in her food and the service was extremely slow. read more

I wandered into this bar walking downtown in BR. I absolutely loved how cozy and relaxed it felt. The interior reminds me of a cigar lounge. I was not expecting it to have 2 levels and so much seating. There was a small crowd which was perfect for me. When I walked in the door & turned the corner into Blend, what I saw looked like something that didn't belong in Baron Rouge. It was...trendy (in a good way), rustic, classic, and elegant. My friend and I had a seat at the bar and were immediately greeted, and complimented! What gal doesn't love to be complimented on her outfit?! We were offered menus & given a heads that the kitchen would be closing soon if we were dining. With help from the lovely bartender I ordered a Merlot. The Nine North Parcel 41' I believe. I was able to try it before ordering it. The bartender shared that lots of people find it too earthy...I liked it though! Know what else I liked? The Flourless Chocolate Torte! The raspberry, blueberry & whipped cream cheese paired excellent with the rich dark chocolate torte. Just give me all the wine all the time... At Blend, it's enjoyed in a modern, expansive space, complete with an upper loft-like area containing lounge seating. Yes, please. I'm all about that. I'm all about Blend. Nice touch: for a more "private" area, our host suggested we sit behind the stairs leading up to the loft. I really dig this expertly-designed and decorated space. We stopped in about 40 minutes before closing on Wednesday night and although they were empty, they didn't act put out by us prolonging their stay, nor did they greet us with the unwelcoming, "We close at 10..." (this has happened to me recently and it REALLY makes you want to stay and drop a hundred bucks on wine and food, doesn't it?). Our server didn't rush us at all and was helpful with suggestions on the menu. He didn't even blink when we asked him to leave the foie gras off the fries. On that note, not a ton for vegans here, but they will modify (for example, they will leave the lebnah off the hummus plate, etc). The Brussels sprouts *are* vegan and scrumptious! Those foie gras-less fries are also something else (ketchup is homemade and blended with cranberries). I stuck to bubbly and it came out perfectly chilled. I don't know, it seems rare that bubbly ever arrives cold enough and there's nothing that takes the celebration out of Champagne like it being served less than icy cold. Housed in the old location of the Wine Loft downtown, Blend is MUCH less pretentious than the previous bar and the music is actually at a volume where you can hear the person next to you. They've also lightened up the decor, while keeping the intimate vibe. The drinks...the bartenders actually care that you like what you are drinking. They'll offer suggestions and let you taste the wines you are interested in before you make your selection. Reasonably priced by the glass and bottle, with a majority of the glasses under $10. I also recommend perusing the specialty drink list - the Sazerac is one of the best I've ever had. The food...I strongly suggest starting off with the Rosemary Parmesan popcorn. Its a perfect snack portion for $3 you can't beat it. The charcuterie selections are numerous and delicious. Don't miss the red pepper strawberry chutney that comes with it! If you're looking for something a little more hearty, go for the Croque Monsieur. Its rich and creamy and so yummy. We had 2 separate tables going because of the number of people and we felt like our table kept getting ignored for service for some reason, while the other table had perfect service! However, I was there for dinner so I have to tell you about the whole experience. I LOVE the wine flight for $12! This is great since I enjoy trying as many things as possible. I had the reds and one of my friends had the white/sparkling. My boyfriend was drinking crown old fashioned and he said they were some of the best. Onto the food...first we started with a meat and cheese combination. The cheese selection was pretty pedestrian and felt like things I bought for parties in my 20s. The charcuterie selection on the other hand was extremely impressive. We chose the duck ham and this wonderfully salted morsel was reason alone for me to head back to Blend. We tried to order the beef and cherry sausage, but they were out :o( So our waiter suggested the chicken sausage....it wasn't as bad as most chicken sausage I've had but it didn't really say sausage to me either. It was almost like a really good chicken salad formed into a sausage shape. Let's talk about main dishes, which are all small plates (my favorite way to dine). The three of us ordered the fried green tomatoes, short rib, and cheeseburger. Our waiter was raving about the burger which set expectations very high. If you say this is the best burger you've ever had, the burger shouldn't simply be on great bread. I'm certainly not saying the burger was bad but I've had better at places in Baton Rouge. The short rib was simply okay. The texture left something to be desired as the meat was tender, the gravy was your typical brown gravy, and the grits were very creamy. Maybe they can add something to give it a crunch or some toast points...just a thought. MY FAVORITE....the fried green tomatoes topped with lump crabmeat!!! This dish was perfect. The hot, crisp tomatoes with cool, silky crabmeat...all drizzled with a perfect amount of sauce. YES PLEASE!! I would have to say I'm will be back to Blend in the future as I really think it's a great place to meet friends for a snack and a few really well prepared drinks. Each drink $25, they made us choose our gin and when we did it they never informed us the price was going to get so high. Beautiful space with lots of seating at the bar, tables, or couches. Good selection of wine and they have beers too. I've gotten a few appetizers and they were good too. On the same board as the sweet potato fries was the "Blend Burger"... such a scrumptious combination. The one thing that stood out on that burger were the pickles... wowza!! Mama mia, that burger was plump, juicy and oozed with cheese. With burgers, the biggest turn-off for me would be cold buns, but this did not disappoint... warm, toasty buns!! All-in-all... the burger was absolute perfection! My husband also shared a dish of BBQ shrimp and grits. I am not always a huge fan of grits, but when they are cooked correctly and paired with something as awesome as those BBQ shrimp, the tastes together was quite phenomenal. Everything was share-able, if that is what you are looking to do - order small plates and share between 2 people... it works, plus you will get to try different dishes! To top of the night's exemplary dishes, the Peach Creme Brûlée made for a nice finish. I have had plenty of Creme Brûlées in my day, but this was not one of my favorites. The peaches needed to jump out at me, but simply did not; however, what did jump out at me was caramelized sugar crust... that was very thick... thicker than what I am used to. Typically, most Creme Brûlées I am used to have a delicately thin layer of the caramelized sugar on top. When you add any kind of fruit to this very sweet dessert, it needs to pop out. Blend is the perfect venue for a small, intimate gathering. I hosted a pre-wedding meet and greet at Blend loft the night before my niece's wedding. Scott and his team were incredible hosts. Let me start with planning - my niece wanted an "open" invitation "drop in" meet and greet which - in my mind - created a planning challenge. This was no challenge for Scott. Scott offered several options to accommodate the event within my budget which worked perfectly. We kept the bites simple (chicken curry skewers, charcuterie, spinach and artichoke dip, meat pies) - all were delicious. And we settled on an inclusive wine/beer menu with option for cash bar for other cocktails. The beer options were pretty expansive - a few oldies + craft beer options and a nice house wine selection. It worked perfect!! We ended up with about 60 people dropping by over the 2.5 hrs event - and we managed to stay on track for the budget. Brandon - our private waiter was the best!! He quietly interacted with the guests to get drink orders (yes, that means no waiting at a bar to order a drink)! My immediate family ordered cocktails (on my tab) - they were delicious!! Blend is a favorite of my friend Vic.S, and I'll admit to being remiss in not walking in before. I erroneously thought that it was a wine-centered bar similar to The River Room. It's at least that, with some cool cocktail recipes built in. However, it's also a restaurant, albeit with a strategic menu. I ended up at the bar for a drink and spicy nuts dish of which my nutrition guilt increased with each enjoyable bite. I loved the atmosphere, including friendly staff and interesting conversations with fellow patrons. I'll be back during my next visit to town and it will be for dinner. My new favorite wine spot! Blend, previously The Wine Loft, is a very chic space in the downtown area. The new owners have taken the wine bar and bumped it up a notch. Let me just start by saying the staff is very attentive and knowledgeable about their selections and are delighted to help you decide the best wine for your tastes. I mentioned the reds I usually like and they recommended the perfect blend. My friends also sampled the mixed drink menu, which were quite tasty, as well. They also helped us pick out a few bites to snack on and I have to say I wish I could have bottled up the homemade strawberry jam and honey mustard they served on the fromage and charcuterie plate, yum!
