Upscale place for appetizers and drinks. I've only been here twice, and on both occasions I got to taste their wine and charcuterie items. This place is usually pretty crowded and seems to be one of the most popular bars downtown. The last time I went, I got their house white wine for $8. My friends got some mixed drinks and though they were pricey at $12.50 they were really delicious. They have a cozy seating area upstairs and a rooftop dining area which is super romantic. read more

I have been to Blend three times now. Once on a pretty busy weekend, once on a moderately busy weekend, and once on a slow Tuesday. I love their flights for $12. Talk about a deal, I always feel like the samples are enough to make it worth my money. I also enjoyed a Lemon Pie specialty elixir. I am not sure if this is supposed to be served as a shot, but it's how I was served. It was delicious, but not worth the $6.50 shot portion. I sipped a shot for 10 minutes to make it last. We had a charcuterie and fromage plate, I couldn't stand the overcooked pita chips they served with it. However, the Andouille sausage was delish. Also had the NOLA BBQ Shrimp and grits which was enjoyable. I went to Blend on a Friday night for my friend's birthday party. It was great-- the atmosphere, location, and prices were just right! We were a group of 5, and got excellent service. The waiter was attentive (though a bit surly!) and took good care of us. We ordered wine, cocktails, and shared a few cheese plates. The cheese plate the birthday girl and I shared was delicious and actually better than any I've had in Napa, California or elsewhere! My gin martini was spot on, and the wine flights my friends had were reportedly wonderful. We also ordered dessert, which was great. The chocolate torte was the best, followed by the bread pudding. The birthday girl ordered the smores which she didn't end up liking, but the owner of Blend paid a visit to our table and took her suggestions for improving the dessert. He also brought us a free champagne toast! He was very sociable and nice to talk to, and that made our visit even more special. I really appreciated him taking time to speak with us. Whenever I'm in a new city I get on Yelp and type "wine bar" into the search bar, without fail I always find a place my husband and I enjoy. In Baton Rouge that place was Blend. I loved the wine selection. I also liked the prices that went along with the selection. Everything seemed super reasonable. I had two wines I loved, I just wish I could remember their names. My husband had a beer that I believe was local that he really liked. The ambiance was fantastic. I love all the wood details. We sat at the bar, which was great. The bartender was super friendly. There was live music the night we were there which would normally be good, but it was just kind of odd. I felt like I was at a dueling piano bar, but there was just one pianist, I don't know it was something about the way he was singing, it was just a bit off. We only came in for some wine after our meal. But the service was most fantastic. Especially after the horrendous service we had at our dinner before. My girlfriend is new to the wine thing and the bartender made her feel most at home and not uncomfortable at all. With the whole "covid" pandemic, they were not up to their full menu yet, but STILL they had some awesome choices. The Blend is one of the few mixology and cocktail bars in downtown baton rouge that I actually enjoy coming too. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. The environment of the location is upscale and makes for a nice place to come get drinks at. I've tried a few of the snack foods, and everything was pretty good. The only complaint that I have overall is that the drinks are a bit overpriced in my opinion. However, the drinks use great premium/ top shelf liquors and are pretty strong, so you're definitely getting your moneys worth. I've been to The Blend a few times in the past year and i've never dissapointed. Definitely a great place for a date night or to take some colleagues out too. Doesn't get crazy or loud so its good for work and netoworking. Whenever I am visitng a city, the first place i always check is yelp for recomendations on bars and restaurants. This was my first visit here and I only went to celebrate a friends birthday. We made reservations but of course non of us were there on time. I kind of figured it wouldn't be crowded tho despite it being a Friday. Sure enough when we arrive forty-five minutes later it wasn't crowded and they were happy to accommodate us. We ordered a few charcuterie boards and some appetizers. We had the crawfish pimento cheese, the baked shrimp dip and carrot hummus. They were all delicious. I don't typically like hummus (except Zea's Mediterranean hummus) but this hummus was yummy. I'd go back for the hummus alone but I love cheese too much to pass on a good charcuterie board. If I do go back I won't be getting a main course. I was not a fan of any of the "main courses". I don't even know if they are main courses they might just be small plates. They were like main course appetizers. I had the seared duck breast and it was over cooked. I didn't like the eggplant risotto either and I love all things eggplant. I tried some of my friends scalloped potatoes and they were excellent tho. But my favorite thing about this place was the service. When I tell your our waitress was exceptional...believe me! She was as attentive as you could ask for. She could tell I didn't like my food and asked me repeatedly if I wanted to send it back. She even said "I'll let try a few more bites to be sure" even though it really was only a few bites to begin with. I'm a sucker for food service. Dined here on a Wednesday night with business partners. The restaurant ambiance was very nice and quant. The parking next door was convenient, but it is pay to park. I ordered the burger which came with fries and it was nothing special. The burger was cooked okay but not much taste to it. The fries were dry and tasted straight out of a bag. We ordered appetizers for the table - brussel sprouts, bacon fries, and pimento dip. The brussel sprouts and dip were very good and tasty; the bacon fries were nothing special and tastes dry as I mentioned above with my entree. I didn't order alcohol but the people I was with did. One lady ordered a white wine but was brought red. The gentlemen who had beers said they were decent. the service was poor. the restaurant was not busy but it took way too long for our food to come, drinks to be refilled and check ups to be performed. the service definitely needs to improve. also, the restaurant was like an icebox. i was freezing the entire dinner and couldn't wait to step outside. might be beneficial to turn the air up and not keep it at 50 degrees. BUT Blend's atmosphere is ruined by the choice in music. I've been there three times, and heard the same soundtrack each time: Dave Matthews Band, Matchbox 20, Hootie and the Blowfish, more Dave Matthews Band. It's awful. Almost any other music theme would work better. Their by the glass selection of wine wasn't bad. Then we picked a whole bunch of things to share. My favorites were the shrimp and grits, 3 cheese plate and brussel sprouts. The scallops smelled a little too fishy for me...the corn that came on the side of the dish was tasty, but the fish smelled too seafood-y. We also ordered the burger and had them cut it into quarters, which I think just took away from the beauty of the burger. My FIRST and ONLY experience at Blend Wine bar was ONE TO FORGET. Our reservation was for 6 pm. We arrived 20 mins early when the restaurant was barely 1/10th full. We sat in our seats at 5:50 and no one came to ask if we needed a drink, or acknowledged our presence for 20 mins. Once we finally spoke to a server, we ordered our food. and HOUR later and we still hadn't gotten our food. Just a bunch of promises that it was on its way. Finally, at 7:15 or an hour and 25 mins after we first sat down, I asked to speak to the manager. I was told that 'he' said he couldn't come out to speak to me because the kitchen was backed up. Very disappointing that the head of the restaurant couldn't come talk to a disgruntled customer that he, himself, greeted at the door when we first walked in. Long story short, we got in, got seated and got NO service and NO apology from the Head of the restaurant. Inexcusable!!!!!! We've come here a few times just for wine, and the staff is always super attentive and will sit and talk with us about wine, which is always great. Also one night when the food trucks were parked nearby we called Blend and asked if we could bring our food in, so that we could drink their great wines with it. We were prepared for them to say "no" given that they have a kitchen, and would probably also like to sell us food. But they told us to come on in. Very different vibe, of course, given Blend is a wine bar, but I would peg them as peers in the BR market. The lighting was perfect and our seats were very comfortable...almost too comfortable if you know what I mean;) The playlist was like something that I would have chosen directly from my iphone and it was playing sensual, yet relevant tunes.
