    The Cuban is BOMB!!
    Erica S.

This place is a great place to go. I've had their hot bar and it's ok, but a friend recommended the Cuban and I'll be going back for that. The hamburgers are ok, but a bit expensive for just "ok". I love the store and the staff is so nice. I love watching the guys dance on TikTok :)

My Brussels with Orange Szechu Sauce and Iverstine's Bacon Ends
    Pamela H.

I love the Bacon Ends from Iverstine Butcher. They are multi-purpose in our house. I love the friendly service and the cleanliness of the restaurant/butcher shop. The only caveat that there is a place for a tip upon payment for products you purchase.

Cuban sandwich crisis with Mac and cheese
    Peyton F.

Yum! I ordered the Cuban sandwich crisis with a side of mac and cheese. My friends got a double smash burger and the smokehouse Reuben, both of which I was able to taste. The meat is delicious and everything except the mac and cheese was made to order since it was from the hot line. They're quite busy during lunchtime, which is understandable because I definitely want to go back and try some more food from the hot line. It's pretty small in there, not THAT much seating. They do sell local items in store like honey, seasonings, frozen meat, milk, etc. which is nice. I got both honey and chocolate milk and they were good, especially since you're also supporting Baton Rouge area businesses when you buy. Would recommend!

    Waiting for lunch

Great quality meats and nice cuts. My husband stopped by to grab a bite to eat and picked up some meat to go. Friendly and knowledgeable butchers. I definitely want to come back to eat in house and pick up some more meats to go.

    Hogs head grilled cheese

There is nothing better than a toasted muffaletta, and this one is fantastic!! The Hogs Head Grilled Cheese is also great. The wonderful flavor of the hogs head cheese is a bit lost among all the other ingredients stacked on the sandwich, but it is a really good sandwich. I would personally prefer plain (unseasoned) fries, but these are still good and perfectly crispy. Definitely need a return trip to try the rueben sandwich. My mouth is already watering for that. Update: I came back for the rueben sandwich. It was good, but the meat is not as tender as I had hoped - kinda tough and chewy. Still have high hopes for the Cuban sandwich on my next trip.

Roasted chicken with white rice and gravy, brussels sprouts, and a dinner roll

Moo over BR if you're looking for a good place for lunch or dinner like something your momma cooked then look no further than this place. I was doing a lunch pick up for my hubby and he said this place was recommended by a few of his patients. Of course me being new to the scene for this popping spot. I had no idea or clue as to what the flow was and yes my anxiety was through the roof. A new place I have never been to but I'm such a foodie I was down to try it out. When you first walk in it's loud and crowded which in my opinion means that it's good. I wasn't too sure if I needed to stand in line or go off to the side to place a to go order. There was no sign and so I stood in line but I was like I'm not eating here so I asked a local and she said I'm sure you can order here off to the side. When an employee came over to hand her, her order I asked if I could place a to go order here and he said hold on a little rude but I knew he was dealing with the busy lunch rush. I stood by the register to the side out of line and only because he said I'll get you give me a minute. Then he totally turned a blind eye and went back to serve the lunch line people. At this moment I had been there for 10 minutes and then I decided to get back in line after another 5-8 people came in. Once back in line he didn't even appear to be sorry for leaving me stranded by the side register. No apology was given but I had waited awhile so I didn't feel like starting a conversation about that issue and besides it was super loud and I wasn't about to yell then have the cops come out. I was starving and so was my husband. So since I waited so long I missed out on the green beans because the guy in front of me got the last of them. I didn't know it was the last of the green beans until I ordered my plate. I asked if I order here to go plates and the guy was like bothered by me asking. Hey I'm NEW !!! But I pressed on since it smelled so good in there. I was there on Wednesday for their special Steak Burger (by the way took an additional 20 mins to get once you order it) I ordered the braised pot roast and it comes with two sides. Like I said I didn't know that they ran out of green beans. So I asked for my sides being rice with gravy and green beans. The guy making my plate said in a rude voice where do you see green beans? I pointed to the tray in front of my order as that person got green beans. He then hit the hot trays that had broccoli and the new tray that came out was Brussel sprouts. I mean this caught me off guard as to what I wanted to replace the green beans. I was panicking and on the verge of crying. I quickly started to point to what ever was there and moved on with my next plate. Three plates later I still needed to pay. Once I got to the register to pay I was asked what I had and I drew a blank because of my experience in ordering. The guy at the register was also very rude almost to the point of rushing me as to what I had in the containers. I mean I think they need to maybe put codes on the containers. I also advised that I needed to place an order for their steak burger. He said it's going to take about 20-25 minutes and if I still wanted it. It felt like he wanted me to say no thanks but again this foodie needed to try it so I said that's fine. I will tell you this place was very popular for a lot of medical personnel. While I waited I saw they carry rubs or spices from Red Stick which is my go to. Also you can get fresh bread from a company called St. Bruno Bread Co.. While waiting I noticed that I didn't get a number stick but I figured that was for dine in only so I didn't even ask. The fresh meats looked amazing and there was a great selection and the price wasn't too bad either. From sirloin to t-bone to sausages it all looked good. Nice marbling on a few cuts and I could see myself enjoying it. As the lunch crowd died down slowly it became a lot quieter and felt more settled. I do think it's best to get there before 12 noon as it shares a parking lot with a few other businesses and the parking lot is small and super busy. Also I learned that it's best to call your to go order in advance so you don't wait over an hour to get your food. Also you can skip being completely confused as to where to place an order to go. After a good 15 minutes later after I paid a lady asked me what I was waiting for. I mean she saw me way before but ok. I said just a burger and I said I wasn't given a number but I have a receipt. She went over to the guy that took my payment and made a gesture. He then came over to me before delivering food to someone else and said they didn't give me a number because he didn't have any at the time. I was like ok - soon after my burger came out and I was asked again if I paid and I said yes do you want my receipt? The lady looked at me straight up and said it's ok I trust you. Once I finally got home I was able to sample the food. I will tell you the pot roast was good and a hit the spot

Employees were very kind and food was fresh and delicious. You can really tell it's great quality ingredients they use. Only wish they gave us more fries.

Food is great. Service is good. Environment is nice. Only part that's hard is paying $23 for a burger, fries and drink. Still, best burger in town.

My father in law loves their hogs head cheese. It is not easy to find good quality. It has good texture, seasoning and ratio of meat.

I can honestly say everything I have bought from here has been a 10+ and the only complaint I get…read moreis that I should have bought more. The sides are just as tasty as their main dishes. My most recent dish was the smoked turkey which is out of this world. Flavorful, juicy and tender. This will forever be on our table for every holiday meal and days in between just because it's so easy (already cooked) and delicious. The stuffed chickens make great and unique Christmas gifts, especially for the hard to buy for or person who has everything. The staff is friendly and always happy to answer my questions.

There wasn't too much in the little hot box but I went ahead and got 2 pepper Jack boudin balls and 1/4 lb of pork cracklins, and was not disappointed at all. The cheese in the boudin ball is all mixed up in the boudin instead of one big clump of cheese (not knocking it) like some boudin balls have. The cracklins also were pretty darn tootin good, both the balls and cracklins were cooled off a bit so must've been sitting for a while and still good! I paid $14 for all of that so can't complain...and the boudin balls are bigger than a baseball so. Really cool guy behind the register..said he has been open for over 30 years so he's definitely got this figured out. Highly recommend

The Fresh Market is what Whole Foods SHOULD be!…read more I did a stop here back in early October. I'm glad I did as this place brought back some nostalgia to me as there used to be a Fresh Market in Loudoun County, VA where I used to live before closing to make way for a Trader Joe's. Walking around, I was pleased to see the ready-to-make gourmet meals that included delicious goods such as a bourbon peppercorn steak, peruvian inspired shrimp chaufa, and korean beef stir-fry. Lovely seeing different meals from different cuisines. And of course the deli area where you can get sandwiches, ready-made sides, and pizza. And the ready-made salads and wraps as well. And then there's a candy section and coffee area with fresh coffee beans; oh I should've grabbed something from there! I left with several items that included a 6 piece order of wings, side of dirty rice, veggie gyoza dumplings, and a curry chicken salad. All of which made for a great meal since I could pick numerous items that wouldn't break the bank. I wanted to try the calzones but I knew it would be too heavy for me. Definitely next time! Very glad The Fresh Market is still around and looks like it's thriving at this location. I hope maybe they'll expand to Houston sometime!
