    Club sandwich on white bread
    Andrea B.

I'm giving this establishment 2 stars not based upon their food but the customer service I received from some old white lady this morning! I've been to this establishment several times but this time wasn't pleasant at all! I don't like prejudice people and she is just that! I called in my order, she explained to me more than one time that it was the Corporate Blvd location. I'm well aware of the location I called. I got there and told her I had an order for a club sandwich. She seemed clueless and was like there is no order. The lady in the kitchen said it's already made; it's on the counter. We proceeded to the counter. I gave her my card. She gave me my receipt and card back then was like wait! First off, you couldn't have given me an approved receipt if something was wrong. He demeanor and attitude was that of the one who doesn't deal with African American people well! She should check her attitude! Next time, I won't be nice! Mind you every other worker in there was African American but they seemed a bit afraid or guarded.

    Look out Smashburger!

If you are looking for a mom and pop kind of feel with a high end kick to it then Maxwells just might be your place. Maxwells has always set themselves apart from other small meat market delicatessens by providing good quality food products. Their meat department specializes in the highest grade choice cuts of meats and the highest grade prime cuts of meat. Same for pork and chicken. The prepared food section is of good quality, however sometimes some of the choices look a little "aged". For the most part everything is made as fresh as possible. I have had all the stuffed chicken breast choices as well as beef, chicken, and shrimp kabob choices. Every person has different tastes and will comment on what they like, but the quality of the food is high. The salads are eye catching and very appealing. Again taste is in the palette of the beholder, but most of the prepared salads are quite tasty. The deli area is were my concerns are. I have recently gone on two occasions to get sliced meat and cheese. The first I waited for a few minutes then finally someone came to serve me. The second time, several workers passed me by making eye contact but not one stopped to ask if I needed anything and it was not busy in the store at all. I ended up walking away without getting anything; disappointing. Usually service is good but not this day. Some prices of food and grocery can be a little on the pricey side. And sometimes service is lacking. However, Maxwell's has good products and a great selection. Do go there, you will be pleased.

Looking for a meat market or butcher, I stumbled upon this place. It's basically a meat counter with a deli and small grocery items. They offer free draft beer while you shop, although it was bud light, I found it a great and welcoming idea. I got some house made Italian sausage and some Tasso stuffed chicken breasts. I'm actually cooking them today, so I'll let you know how it goes.

Club sandwich, added cheddar. So BIG!

Great Reubens. And a fine meat / butcher available. You can eat inside, on the patio, or to go.

Great market, wide selection though on the expensive side. I'm also in favor of any place offering free beer.

Now they are in a much better, but still cozy, space on Government Street. This facility has indoor dining space, patio dining space, and plenty of parking, including a back overflow lot. Anthony's has been in business so long due to authentic Italian cuisine, including a great variety of take out deli items. If you need some real Italian grocery items for your home, there's a good chance you can get them at Anthony's. However, if you would rather let them prepare your meal for you, that's an excellent option as well. I think they have a first rate muffuletta, and it's important to have the right bread and meats for those. This is something they have covered! Their Po-Boys are also my favorites. These are pressed so they are crispy and flattened. I typically like to get these with a small salad, which is indeed an excellent choice. If you have room, there's always some great dessert choices. Another consideration is picking up something to take home for later, I think a tub of high quality imported olives are a good selection. Don't forget their cheeses as well, these can lift your home cooking to a higher level. Next time you are in the Government Street Arts and Entertainment District, drop into Anthony's for a bite, dessert, or take home items. You'll definitely thank yourself later!

I have always enjoyed the meatball poboy .. but because I don't live close, I was inspired to find a good recipe and did!! Always have Italian meatballs in the freezer for quick meals, but when in the area and in the mood for Italian deli I'll be back for a lunch special. Used to go to the one way down Florida Blvd & think this area was a good move for them. Very nice family run restaurant if you haven't tried it.

There was salads, sandwiches, vegetarian options and lots of sides and dessert options. Because I didn't know if the sandwiches would come with sauce on them, which I don't like, I opted for a Cesar salad with a brownie. During our meeting before lunch, Jason's Deli delivered our boxes and put our names on the boxes so you knew which one was yours. I really liked this inside of just categorizing by lunch type: sandwich, salad, soup. When I opened my box, my Cesar salad was there with a big cup of dressing on the side. There was also two slices of bread and my delicious brownie. The salad was delicious and so was the bread and brownie. If I'm ever needing to cater for something, I am definitely doing Jason's Deli!

The muffalata sandwich was average, you only get to choose from ham & salami or turkey. When ordering we got the quarter muffalata special, the guy made it sound like you had to choose between ham, salami or turkey. It tasted decent, but not the real deal. Currently they have French onion soup, delicious! It was full of onions. Would def get it again. The salad bar was constantly being refreshed with new food. $7.79 and you can get a "side salad". I was so filled from the salad I didn't even need the sandwich. For $20 you have 2 full meals. Can't beat that.

Our results were all similar; we all agreed that JM was the best of the bunch. My wife and I liked Inga's more than Cheba Hut, while I preferred Cheba. However, when the final scores were tallied, Inga's came in 2nd. I wouldn't say it's a bad sandwich by any means, but I wouldn't say it's great, either. The steak imo wasn't nearly as spectacular as I'd been led to believe. Personally I'd rate it 3 stars, but since my wife and son enjoyed it more than I did I'll give it 4.

I ordered one of my favorites, the grilled chicken breast on white bread (fully dressed) and it was just as amazing as I remember it. I will say, they went up on their prices but it's definitely worth the price. I always get the giant size because I'll either split it with someone or save the other half for lunch the next day. So it's pretty much two meals (unless you're super super hungry and want to eat the whole sandwich in one sitting like I did yesterday:)). They are always super quick too! I called in my order to pick it up and it only took 10 minutes. Also, the woman who is always working is super nice as well! I'll definitely continue to be a regular at this place, one of my favorite spots in Baton Rouge!
