Today my wife, son, & I decided to do a blind taste test of 3 local sub shops we've never had before that we've heard great things about: Cheba Hut, Jersey Mike's, and Inga's. Our results were all similar; we all agreed that JM was the best of the bunch. My wife and I liked Inga's more than Cheba Hut, while I preferred Cheba. However, when the final scores were tallied, Inga's came in 2nd. I wouldn't say it's a bad sandwich by any means, but I wouldn't say it's great, either. The steak imo wasn't nearly as spectacular as I'd been led to believe. Personally I'd rate it 3 stars, but since my wife and son enjoyed it more than I did I'll give it 4. read more

I haven't gotten Inga's in a while so as soon as I started craving their delicious sandwiches, I had to go! I ordered one of my favorites, the grilled chicken breast on white bread (fully dressed) and it was just as amazing as I remember it. I will say, they went up on their prices but it's definitely worth the price. I always get the giant size because I'll either split it with someone or save the other half for lunch the next day. So it's pretty much two meals (unless you're super super hungry and want to eat the whole sandwich in one sitting like I did yesterday:)). They are always super quick too! I called in my order to pick it up and it only took 10 minutes. Also, the woman who is always working is super nice as well! A no frills solid sandwich shop. Went in during Mardi Gras season at 6:30PM and was the only one inside. I ordered quickly and received my food just as fast with a smile!! While I'm all for free speech and a 5 star reviewed process, the fact that a one star review from a moron can drag a business down kills me. Inga's is a family run staple of the LSU community. The menu is simple and effective. Best sandwiches are the best and the steak. They also have killer potato salad and teriyaki bowls. I ordered a steak sandwich and found the overall meal decent enough. The bread was soft and fresh, the meat a generous portion, the sandwich well dressed. Filling Subs at Low College Prices As I am going Vegetarian, I try to find fare that will suit my needs. Igna's off of Brightside is more than worthy. The shop is small and homely. Two people are usually working, barreling out orders. There are a dozen plus sub options to choose from including two vegetarian options with many other non-sandwich items as well. I have gotten the 14'' and 7'' Veggie Burger sub, respectively. The bun is delicious and toppings are generous. The burger itself is a bit underwhelming, but the rich amount of toppings to choose from make up for it. read more

I've often been told to visit Inga's for the best sandwich in Baton Rouge and finally accepted the challenge today. Upon reading the menu, I saw that it was the home of their "famous" steak sandwich, so I, of course order the large! They dress their sandwiches with oil and vinegar. No mayo or mustard, so I added mayo and pepper jack cheese on wheat. I also shared a side of their potato salad with my dining partner as an "app" I noticed that she sliced the beef to order, so that was cool. The potato salad was simply put, just like mine. Slightly creamy and chunky with mayo and mustard and I'm sure a touch of pickle juice. It was delicious! So delicious that we got another side of it! Now the sandwich. Upon receiving it, I was amazed by the shear size of it. It was easily 15 inches. It was cut into four pieces that were the size of a Quiznos small sub. (Mental note: is there a Quiznos in Baton Rouge?) ---- not a very "mental" note.. Whatever...Any way... The looks of the sandwich were quite deceiving. The bread was dense. I know it's wheat, but it was out of control. The beef was only flavored with vinegar and oil which made it off-putting, not to mention tough. I'll give these guys another shot, but if this is their "famous" steak sandwich, it must be from bad publicity. read more

I've only ever had one sandwich over here, the steak sandwich. I've heard the other sandwiches are great but I've never had them. I ate here all the time back when I lived by River Road. I haven't been here in a while, but every time I pass by it I usually stop by and grab the steak sandwich. Also, if you get the steak sandwich be sure you have them put sriracha on it! I've been to Inga's on Brightside twice, The first time for a shrimp poboy, the second for a steak sandwich. The shrimp poboy was mostly bread barely any shrimp and the shrimp were very small but the poboy was tasty. I suggest getting the 14" if u want to be full bc the 7" didn't do it since I wasn't eating all that bread. The steak sandwich was a disappointment. Hardly any meat and I ordered mayo,lettuce, tomatoes only but the girl on the phone was so preoccupied with asking me if I wanted cheese that she forgot the tomatoes and a sandwich to me isnt a sandwich without them. When I called a woman who couldn't understand English after 3 tries to tell her the situation and finally gave the phone to the girl who took the order and all she had in reply was OH , OK needless to say I won't be back! food is good but service is slow. its conveniently located for college kids which is nice for the college kids. kinda sucks for everyone else. some days i avoid ingas just so i would have to run into a ton for sorority girls and frat boys. The "Inga's Best" is pretty tasty though. read more
