Apple pie

Just felt a bit underwhelmed. The savory pies (the chicken & beef/pork) were just a bit flavorless. The burger was just not very amazing either. The redeeming point was their apple pie with vanilla ice cream. So good and so fresh.

Crawfish Pies with Red Beans n Rice - Amazing!

This is a MUST go type place when in Baton Rouge! Such unique and oh soooo good dishes. Their pies are what they are known for and all that I get and you really cannot go wrong with any of them. They have dessert pies and lunch/dinner pies and their lunch/dinner pies take the cake for me (and I am a dessert guy). The place is not big, but they always seem to get people in/out quick so there is never much of a wait. The service is great and they always take great care of you!! The place is clean and cozy inside. It is small, but arranged so that you never feel crammed.

seafood pot pie and honey chop

We tried Elsie's Plate & Pie and it did not disappoint! I had the seafood pot pie and it was absolutely amazing, rich, flavorful, and packed with seafood in every bite. My husband ordered the honey chop and really enjoyed it as well. Everything was delicious, comforting, and full of flavor. We'll definitely be back!

Crawfish queso and pork skins

Easiest the best dinner I've had this year. Elsie's is living with cozy ambiance and warm service. The menu ranges from sweet to savory and features every pie I know of and a few more, look a little further down and you'll find a stellar selection of melts salads and sandwiches. Flip it over they've got such great mains my only complaint is I could hardly make up my mind on what to order. Thankfully our server Enola was happy to walk us through our decision making and lead us through a wonderful experience 10/10 no notes.

Eye of the Tiger

Named after "Ma" Elsie known for their history and Baton Rouge's best brunch! I dropped in for a sampling of dishes (faster seating at the bar where friends and service are front-row!) - the Cajun Crawfish Queso is a fan favorite and a tourist's wonder with pork rinds instead of traditional chips. If you didn't bring friends, you'll be sure to make some ordering this dish! Why not make it a double with the Louisiana Poulet Pot Pie - hot out of the oven with flaky crust, savory cream sauce, and pulled smoked chicken. I always close the sampler with dessert, and Eye of the Tiger (sweeter than it sounds, lemon ice-box pie topped with blueberry whip) delivers on all counts! First visit was a delight, looking forward to my return!

This place was amazing, we loved everything we had and could not stop talking about it. It is a small spot with a small parking lot but it is worth the wait. We would definitely go back if in the area again.

This appetizer was very good!

I called ahead asking if they had gluten free items which they said they did. Turns out gluten free is just the regular menu items without the bun etc at the same price as the regular menu items. We ended up having to send the burger back because they left fried onions on there which had crumbled when we tried to take them off. When they brought out the new burger, they took all that toppings off besides the cheese. Burger was supposed to have mushrooms etc on there. My avocado sandwich was pretty good but missing flavor. The GF appetizer we shared was very good. The waiter was very nice and I know the problem with the burger was not his fault. I really had high hopes for this place seeing how many stars they got but I personally would not come back.

Red beans and rice

Everything was perfect. How can that be? Well our server Alice nailed the recommendations and everything was stunningly good. Catfish. Red beans and rice. Seafood pot pie. Salads. Okra. Get here... It's awesome.

Seafood Lafourche Bisque

From what I hear, Elsie's gets packed. That was not the case on a sunny Saturday mid-afternoon, but it was still decently busy. We were seated quickly, and skipped drinks. Elsie's, known for their pies, carries versions that are both savory and sweet in addition to a large menu of Southern-style comfort dishes with Cajun and Creole flavors. I got the seafood lafourche bisque and the blackened catfish sandwich. My friend got the honey chop, and we also shared the seafood pot pie. The seafood bisque: made with plenty of seafood bites is a super flavorful bisque broth - recommend! The honey chop: tender pork chop in their signature pepper jelly bbq - highly recommend! Seafood Pot Pie: I can see why they're known for pies! While on the heavier side, it was deliciousness in every bite - highly recommend. -- The blackened catfish sandwich: not worth it. Almost seemingly an afterthought on the menu... the blackened catfish itself was tasty but the simplicity of the lettuce, tomato and white bread (ok, sourdough) did not bring it together and was super bland and plain - do not recommend. It would have been better if they had a blackened catfish dish rather than this sandwich. -- Unfortunately service was also really slow. Our drinks (waters) and seafood bisque came out quick but we waited 35-40 minutes for the rest of our food. Our server informed us that the honey chop would be 20 minutes, which we were okay with, but after 35 minutes we were growing more and more impatient, especially given that it wasn't too busy at the time and our server never acknowledged the long delay. Inside, it's an industrial look and feel and on the trendier side. And even with setbacks, I'd definitely come back for their pies, and avoid the catfish sandwich.

Cute place! Staff very nice! Been for breakfast and now dinner. I enjoyed dinner much more. Ordered: Smokey 3 Cheese Pimento: so good! Highly highly recommend Louisiana Poulet Pot Pie: very good! The top crust was nice and the rest was a little spicy but the flavors were amazing The Boudin Burger: falls apart in your hands. Nice flavor! Eye of the Tiger Pie: it was fine. I was hoping for more of a lemon flavor. And blueberry flavor in the whipped cream

I was in Baton Rouge visiting family and since I'm always the one chosen to pick the place we eat at I chose this place of many pictures alone. It did not disappoint. We had the crawfish queso and cracklin as an appetizer. That was delicious. The cracklin was fried perfectly and the queso was flavorful. For entrees we had the seafood pot pie and the boudin melt. Both were amazing. The seafood pot pie crust was flaky and soft and butter and the filling was everything I wanted it too be. It was creamy with lots of flavor and just enough seafood. The boudin melt was unlike anything I've ever had but I'm so glad I got it because it was really good. The bread was soft, crunchy, and buttery. We also had the spicy watermelon margarita. Honestly I'm not sure what made me get this because I you l usually don't like spicy margaritas. This changed my mind. I love spicy margaritas now, at least the ones from Elsie's. I'm really upset that I ate so much that I didn't have room for dessert.

Pie nachos! The best!

If you don't try the pie nachos you have no clue what you are missing! Fried pie crust topped with a triple berry compote and vanilla ice cream! Will make a rabbit slap a bulldog!

First things first. Our server, Lily, was phenomenal. My husband and I are both fast drinkers and she had a refill ready every time. She was very pleasant to talk to and we had several conversations. She was so helpful and we loved her. I had never been here and was stumped between two dishes but ultimately got the Steak Frites. Tell me why the best steak I've ever had in my life was from a pie shop? It was PHENOMENAL and cooked to perfected. I prefer medium rare and few restaurants cook that preference well and Elsie's exceeded my expectations. The sweet pies were fantastic and very yummy. Their homemade pork rinds weren't overly crunchy and the perfect paring for the crawfish queso. The place itself is very cute and worth the extra minute to find the parking lot. I always saw the restaurant from government street but had no desire to try to find parking. It is SO WORTH IT! Can't wait to go back!

And fish-shaped taiyaki or bunggeobang pastries that feature custard or red bean filling--warm and sweet with a crispy exterior. The ube cookies were the only items that didn't blow my mind as the ube flavor was lost amongst the food coloring and white chocolate chips. The ube ice cream however was solid, with a mild and lightly sweet earthy flavor similar to taro or matcha. 8/10 recommend especially if you've never had bingsu or ube. My favorite was definitely the fish-shaped pastries, a very impressive replication of the Asian street snacks sold in the wintertime.
