Delicious ice cream! I came on a Monday, and it was the perfect treat to end the night. When we came after dinner, there was no one here. But, the floor were really wet...I thought it was too wet for them to still be open, but I guess it was fine. We got the strawberry flavor and a cookie dough flavor. Both were delicious. We sat outside, and the shop was adorable with light and picnic tables all around. It is also in a great part of town. read more

Gails Fine Ice Cream - Ice Cream & Frozen Yogurt Near Me - Baton Rouge, Louisiana

This was my first time trying Gail's as well as fine ice cream in general. There were plenty of options to choose from, and, thankfully, we were able to sample a few before deciding. The service was very helpful. I got the fresh strawberry ice cream in a homemade waffle cone and my boyfriend got the brown butter pecan ice cream in a cake cone. I understand milk is a main ingredient in ice creams, but all of the ice creams we tried had a very noticeable milk flavor to them. Perhaps this is part of the appeal of fine ice cream, but for me the milk taste overshadowed the actual flavor of the ice cream. With that said, it still tastes good. The place itself is quite clean and has a cute aesthetic overall. If I'm ever in the area and want a sweet, I'll stop by again! read more

My husband and I visited Gail's for the first time last Friday night for our date night. The shop is so cute and family friendly. It immediately smells like warm sugar waffle cones when you walk in. The servers were friendly and let us sample a few ice creams. The cookies and creqm was sold out, which lets me know that it's good. So, we'll have to try it out next time. We ended ordering the brown butter pecan in waffle cones. They were delicious! Sooo good! We sat outside in enjoyed our cones and a nice breeze. We'll definitely be back. read more

The first thing that hits you is the intoxicating cinnamon sort of graham cracker smell of the waffle cones. I had to have my ice cream on a waffle cone. I ordered a single scoop of the very fresh strawberry and it was amazing. This is not your average Bryer's, Dryer's, Thrifty's, Ben & Jerry's, Häagen-Dazs or Godiva's Type of strawberry ice cream. This is definitely a fresh homemade strawberry. It was absolutely delicious. It was the right amount of creamy and the right amount of sweet. I am so glad that I got it. For a family of three, our order was about $16. It was absolutely worth it. My little one had the milk and cookies. She really enjoyed it. It was not overly sweet in any sort of way. My other half, he had the brown butter pecan. He said that was actually a bit too sweet for him. There were lots of nuts in his. My mother had a flavor that I cannot recall the name of. But it basically is a coffee based ice cream with a heath bar mix it. She said that was very good too. These aren't anorexic scoops. IMO, these are pretty good sized. The inside of the shop is so cute & so clean. This is definitely a spot to take the family for a treat. read more

As a frequenter of the Overpass Merchant, we used to enjoy some ice cream treats that would appear as a special every now and then. Gail's Fine Ice Cream spawned from there to its own stand alone location just a stones throw away (and a location in New Orleans). Recently, I popped in after a hot run, and first of all, the smell of the cones being freshly made was very warm and inviting. They have a menu up, but they don't always have those particular selections available. However, There were still about 8 flavors to choose from. I got a cup of the milk and cookies, and the flavors were so rich and delightful. There was plenty of cookie dough in the scoop, and the flavor was just perfect. It was the perfect size scoop and hit the spot on a hot day. The ladies behind the counter were very helpful and assisted another customer with finding something to delightfully hit her pallet too. Gail's is a perfect neighborhood staple that should be on everyone's list for a special treat! read more

If your freezers break down.....do NOT rush to open..only offering 4 flavors that are freezer burnt with ice crystals!

Gails Fine Ice Cream - 4 scoop sampler of lemon pie, milk and cookies, and cookie monster - Ice Cream & Frozen Yogurt Near Me - Baton Rouge, Louisiana

This place is so cute! I had the lemon berry ice box pie ice cream and that was such a lovely treat. The flavor combination is typically not something I'd go for, but I really couldn't resist after trying the sample. I would definitely recommend it if you wanna try something different. The homemade waffle cone is hands down the best one I've ever had. It is sooooo yummy, so crunchy, just perfect! The extra $1.50 you have to pay is totally worth it in my opinion. Definitely give this place a visit. It's a nice and needed break from the typical ice cream chains we have around. read more

The service was nice, we were able to try several different flavors since this was our first time. The shop is very small but cute with lots of outside seating. The ice cream itself was somewhat underwhelming considering the price, but I'd still say it's worth a try if you haven't been! read more

Gails Fine Ice Cream - a cup of ice cream - Ice Cream & Frozen Yogurt Near Me - Baton Rouge, Louisiana

We just visited and will never go back. The girls working in there were rude, not helpful and handed my nephew melted ice cream in a cone that was running down his arm. She was hateful to my 71 year old father because he tried to pay with a $100 bill. I was VERY disappointed in the service. read more

I finally got a chance to go to Gail's and was somewhat underwhelmed. The lady working seemed highly disappointed and somewhat disgusted that we walked in, very opposite of the attitudes you're used to seeing at an ice cream store. We asked to taste test two flavors, which she agreed to, but was just overall meh to us. We quickly received our ice cream, which was also slightly meh as well. I was really hoping to gasp over Gail's, but I felt like yawning instead. read more

Ice cream was great. Super creamy and rich in flavor. Parking lot in the back is spacious but is on gravel under the interstate. The inside of the building is very small with only four barstools to sit at. So be prepared to eat your ice cream outside or in the car. My dad got the scoop of chocolate ice cream which tasted like coffee ice cream, very strange. They did let him swap out to strawberry which was very nice of them. Great customer service for that. read more

Finally made it over to Gail's. While there I had the infamous lemon blueberry. It was for me delicious though unexpected. I expected that it was going to be light and bright, and there were hints of that, but the overwhelming taste profile was sweet and creamy. I also tried the cortado crunch which was also great, but again, the profile is mostly sweet and creamy. Other flavors available at the time were berry, chocolate, peanut butter chocolate, birthday cake, cookie monster, a couple others and one sorbet. The sugar cone didn't unwrap well. Glue and a bit of paper stuck on the cone. But it was otherwise tasty and sturdy Overall, this is a great post heavy workout treat on a spring or warm fall day. I'm excited to try the affogato. Because of how heavy and creamy the ice cream is, Gail's is not going to be my go to for a cool down treat. I also appreciated some of the ways they are trying to be a more sustainable operation (reusable tasting spoons). read more

Wow, believe the hype, Gails was amazing. I've been about 10 times since opening in late march. You can't go wrong with any of the 12 flavors offered. My go to is the Lemon berry box pie, something about pie, berries, and ice-cream really create something special. Iced Latte is so so good too, it's coffee flavor is on point to a nice cup of coffee. Tip- You can ask for an affogato, they'll add a shot of expresso to any scoop you want read more

This place is adorable. The smell when you walk in is divine. The flavor offerings are not as many as some bigger chain competitors, but the flavors of the ice cream do not leave you disappointed. It is unique, fresh, creamy and quite delicious. I had the coffee crunch one (forgive me for not remembering the unique name). It had the perfect coffee ice cream taste--and honestly I think it could have used a little bit more of the crunch--but I wasn't disappointed. I haven't been before now since it's a bit out of the way for me, but I would definitely go back for a treat if I'm in this neck of the woods. If you like good ice cream, you won't be disappointed. I think it's also locally-owned so let's support them! read more

Cute little shop, tons of outdoor seating. We stopped by for a quick snack. Staff was friendly, and helpful. We ordered the iced latte and chocolate. Found mixing the 2 together was better than having them separate. The coffee flavor helped boost the chocolate. Like other reviews I've read, I agree that the flavors need to be punched up a bit. The texture is supper creamy, almost buttery. read more

Ice cream instantly transports you to a time when you were young and carefree, but Gail's takes it a step further. From the way the shop is decorated to the flavor selections, there's a comforting feeling about the place that has a throwback quality without feeling cheesy or gimmicky. The interior of the shop is small, but there is ample outdoor seating, which is where you want to be for ice cream anyway. Sure, it's noisy because it's located under the interstate, but the location is still ideal because of all the nearby shops. In fact, this is the cherry on top of what could be an entire day on one street. Go shopping, grab a bit, drinks with friends, then ice cream! read more
