Finally tried Insomnia Cookies by LSU today. Not incredibly impressed but nothing major to complain about either. Sunday on LSU campus with no events happening, so parking on Chimes Street was easy. Sign on the door read only 4 guests in a time (thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic), so lucky for us, we were the only ones. Not even anyone else on the street when we were there. My husband is a teacher, so we were excited to snag his free 6-pack of cookies! We opted to buy two brownies then split the cookies. Honestly, they weren't all that impressive. Cookies to me were as good as Subway or anywhere else. Brownies were yummy but nothing anything I'd drive across town for. Perhaps if we would have tried them as ice cream sandwiches, it would have been more special. Also, it was odd to see a candy cane flavored cookie, and sure enough the worker was surprised saying that they didn't have them anymore. Yet, she didn't remove them while we were there. Whatevs I guess! I think what makes this place stand out is their hours being that they're open until 3am. I get it. I have been a customer of insomnia cookies for yearssss. I have been to their locations in multiple states. I just moved to Louisiana and wanted to try this location as it is the closest to me. I am Very disappointed. The cookies were not fresh- or at least didn't taste like they were . They were hard and bland . First of all, they keep the cookies in a warming bin so you get em nice and warm. There were four of us and everyone loved their selections. Especially in a major college town! We stumbled in late one night after some serious tailgating so OF COURSE delicious warm cookies sounded like an excellent idea! I ended up ordering a peanut butter, a white chocolate macadamia and their triple chocolate. They graciously heat up the cookies up before serving them in their super cute "pizza-like" cookie box. My least fav was the white chocolate macadamia one, which was surprising to me, because that's normally my go-to cookie; however, that triple chocolate cookie IS TO DIE FOR! Mine was jam packed full of triple chocolate goodness and should have been appropriately named "death by chocolate." A cookie company that delivers up to 3am is a dangerous concept! To make a long story short, it is now 12:45 am and I am JUST receiving my cookies and ice cream. After being told they only had one driver an hour into my order, I became sympathetic at the time because that's out of their control. But to receive a text saying I would get my cookies an hour from the text and then to not get them until 3 hours later, is ridiculous. With no updates, and no one answering the phone after multiple call attempts, I will be giving Insomnia a break for now. I am giving this a one star strictly on Service, we don't even know how the cookies taste! We walked in and the lady behind the counter immediately caught an attitude face like we were bothering her for coming in. Then she snipped at us that it would be 15 minutes for any cookies to be cooked. So we said ok and stood there and waited for her to take our order. After about 5 minutes she looked at me and said very ugly "Are y'all going to wait the 15 minutes?" And we said yes. Came in to this place with my bro in law cause he loves it. First impression of the place is that it's exceptionally clean and spacious. You wouldn't tell the large space walking up on the building. The menu is pretty simple, they serve boxes of cookies with many different types and they also pair with ice cream if you like as well. Pros - Cookies served warm, appears to be well managed and clean, stays open late (open till 3am daily) Cons - They're just average cookies in my opinion, I ordered the "six pack" which was six cookies of your choice for $8. None of them wowed me, pretty basic in my opinion. I guess due to the location it'll stay open and popular though. I bought their 12 piece pack for $16, along with 3 pieces of their deluxe brownies at little under $3/each. The only "hit" and "freshly backed cookies were the double chocolate chip cookies that I waited 10 min for. The others were already made, but we're still soft and chewy...just not hot. They are known to deliver fresh baked goodies late in the evenings (I believe to 3am) for a small fee. First let me say these cookies are truly some of the best...however! The store itself is extremely plain and not really kept up well. I've been inside twice...and had two very interesting experiences. The first time, the foot traffic was moderate yet they had no fresh chocolate chip cookies. You'd think those would be on constant rotation. The second experience was when they were very busy...steady line to the door the full hour I was there. Why was I there for an hour? Oh goodness well let's see...we had two orders...one online and one at the counter. The one online was for a cookie cake and gave a time that we could expect it. The second order at the counter would've been fast except this time they were out of snickerdoodle...another popular flavor. So since we had to wait a few minutes, I said I'd wait on the snickerdoodle. After waiting and waiting we finally got a status on the cake...it still needed 5 more minutes. Ok, no problem right? Well that took another 15 minutes. By the time we finally got our order the cookies (we had a total of 3 6 packs) the order was wrong and the icing was completely melted on the cookie cake...sigh. Oh, and overall our online order was ready a good 30 minutes or so after the site said it would be.
