Nap is amazing. The staff is so nice and helpful, and the inside is beautifully decorated giving it a really nice relaxing vibe. I had to work through my lunch by sending emails and such, but the staff was super sweet and patient even though it took me a little longer to eat than it should have. Kaylee was so sweet and smiley, I think I needed that upbeat interaction more than the pho. Having said that, the pho was amazing. I ordered vegetable pho with beef broth, brisket and rare steak. I hate passing up a deal, so I ordered the egg rolls off of the happy hour menu too. They come three to an order, but my picture only shows two. I was hungry. Make a trip out to Bao. You will thank me. Ask for Kaylee. She is the bomb!

I've been here a few times and the food has never disappointed me yet!! The portion sizes are insanely generous and very filling and fresh. The service is always very sweet and on it. The drinks I always get are either of the Thai teas which are delicious and of course the setting of the place is very modern and aesthetically pleasing!!
This was SO GOOD! The butter garlic edamame actually changed my life. I haven't stopped thinking about. Definitely try if you are a garlic lover! And their beef pho is some of my favorite in the Baton Rouge area!

The soup was good, it had some flavor, but tasted thin. There was plenty of meat, tendon, and tripe. They have a drink menu with sweet iced drinks averaging $6 and some beer and sake selections. Although it's named bao, there weren't any bao buns? Service didn't take too long, and there were many tables spread out. Free parking in the lot. It's right next to an Asian grocery store too. Not the best pho I've had but passable. I could come here again for pho or something else.
Bao is a solid four star experience. The restaurant is tucked away in a shopping plaza that offers plenty of parking. They have a nice outdoor dining space and the inside is spacious. I sat at the bar. It was a dimly lit and quiet. I settled in and ordered the spring rolls and the pho ga. The spring rolls came out right away and they were fantastic! The pho didn't come out FOR A WHILE. The waitress was very apologetic which I appreciated but it definitely put a damper on the overall experience. When the pho came out it was a great portion. It was good pho and well worth the price. If I were going to be in town again, I would probably consider stopping in for another meal.

I got an ubereats order today that was bo kho, che ba mau, and a small side of fries ( that's not part of the review though, i had a craving and didn't expect much lol). I'm a big fan of the bao market & deli in prairieville now, but for years I only went to this location. And from everything i hear, i think it's probably just gone down in quality because of how much business they get at the other location. But my 17 dollar soup was, as you'll see, a pretty pathetic amount. And the chunks of beef shank were mostly tendons. I'll spare you a pic of what I had to spit out, but it was the bulk of what was in that container. Bo kho always includes fatty pieces of meat, that's part of the dish. But it isn't meant to be pieces that are totally inedible. On top of that, the che ba mau, while good, is such a small amount for 7.19. Times are hard though so who knows how much those ingredients cost. Only thing that met my expectations was the don phuong bread, but BR natives already know about that! Either way, I ended up paying 42 bucks for a meal consisting of bread and broth. So I'm kinda bummed.

Their Vietnamese fried chicken wings are a must try! I love their Hu Tieu, super flavorful with combination meat and seafood. Always down to eat their pho also - especially the rare streak. If you're wanting something sweet to drink, try the Thai tea!
I can't wait to go back and try something else! The atmosphere is beautiful. Every person that works there checks on you. Amazing customer service. Prices very reasonable. I ordered chicken pho and pork spring rolls. Absolutely delicious. Best I've had in the city so far.
Over the years, Bao has proven to be the most consistent Vietnamese restaurant in Baton Rouge, whether it's the flavor of the food or the quality of the service. I love getting the tamarind wings when I get the chance to dine in here - the wings are usually huge and always fried to perfection. I'm a sucker for anything sour or spicy, and tamarind seasoning happens to be my weakness. If you want to try something new, I highly recommend getting the bun bo hue and maybe even pair it with one of their milk teas or even a soda chanh (Vietnamese lime soda). I love the chill atmosphere along with the Vietnamese music playing in the background. It isn't usually noisy, but it certainly can be when it's busy. If you prefer some quiet away from the crowd, Bao has outdoor seating as well. Side note - I love that the bathrooms are always clean here and even the non-viet servers know the menu when we order in Vietnamese! They always get our order right and the food comes out in the correct order.

Heard about the wings here so I had to go try them out. Wings came out FRESH and they were FANTASTIC. Took some home and had them for a snack the next day. 10/10 on the wings. Service was fantastic. I believe the meal I ordered was the pork chop broken rice plate. Very good. Girlfriend had the fried rice. Fantastic as well. Plan on going back very soon. read more
Sometimes the best meals are the ones you don't see coming. I walked into BAO just a modest little grocery store with a few tables squeezed off to the side, craving a bowl of pho. For me, it all comes down to the broth; that's where the heart of the dish lives. And this one? It didn't just hit the mark...it sang. Deep, clear, and impossibly rich, it proved that flavor doesn't need a grand stage to be enormous. My daughter and I visited for a late lunch one Monday around 2pm. Inside was clean and had had several open tables. Our server was friendly and explained the menu items that we had questions about. We shared the bang bang shrimp. They were okay. I probably wouldn't order them again though. I went with the Vietnamese wings. They were like sweet chili wings. These were pretty good. My daughter went with the Bun Bo Hue which she didn't really care for. I tried it and didn't care for it either. Overall we enjoyed our visit and were glad we tried it. read more

Y'all already know I love sandwiches but if you're new here, then hi! I'm Karri, and I'm a sandwicholic. (Insert "hi Karriiiii" here lol). The bánh mì is one of my favorites because it's a perfect balance of meat and veggies to bread. I hadn't had one in a while, so I ended up at BAO Vietnamese Kitchen to try to get my fix. This was on a Friday afternoon around 2:00, so I ended up getting a few things to try along with the bbq pork bánh mì, including eggrolls, a taro coconut milk tea, and a cocktail. The bánh mì was good! The bread was fresh, meat flavorful and tangy and veggies also freshly washed and julienned. The egg rolls were fresh out the fry. I ended up bringing a friend here a few months later and unfortunately the experience was less than stellar, so they could work on the consistency between their lunch and dinner service. All in all, I'd probably give it another shot. read more

Service was impeccable, options plenty and flavor good. I was looking for vegetarian-friendly pho near me and this is one of two restaurants that popped up. After seeing the majority high ratings by fellow Yelpers we decided to give this place a try. I ordered the Taro Coconut Milk Tea with Boba, the Tofu spring rolls (because they were out of Avocado) and the Vegetarian broth Pho with Lemongrass tofu. They were able to accommodate my allergies and specific requests without any hesitation. The server was exceptional. She paid attention to detail and was attentive and pleasant. I enjoyed every portion of my meal. I will say that it was not the best Pho I've had but it was tasty and I would definitely order again. We sat outside and enjoyed the fresh air. My fiance had the Fried spring rolls, Chicken lettuce wraps, and Chicken broth Pho with double chicken. He truly enjoyed all his food. It is rare that we find a restaurant we both enjoy. We look forward to returning. The only con is that judging by the name, I was hoping they served bao buns; but unfortunately, they do not. read more

Ever been to a Vietnamese restaurant with southern hospitality? I'm from California, spit distance from little Saigon. Never expected amazing pho in Baton Rouge. This place hit the spot. Staff is friendly and accommodating. This is a must checkout spot. read more

Yum! I was told these are the best wings in Baton Rouge and I have to say that may be true! The Vietnamese wings are super crunchy and sauced to perfection. You can taste the double fry! The bun Bo hoe is delicious and has a wonderful broth. I added some additional chilis but otherwise it needed no flavoring. The addition of the pigs blood was great but it felt overcooked a tad. The only thing I would say is I wish there was a choice of a fish sauce instead of peanut for the spring rolls. Coconut refresher was insanely refreshing and delicious. Service was also amazing, they even brought me more sauce for my leftover spring roll. read more
Bao was everything I wanted it to be and more. The server was very polite and helpful with navigating the menu. I really wanted to try the pho but there was so much to choose from. I'm definitely obsessed with the spring rolls and the broth from the beef stew. Not to mention the lemonade! It was easily one of the best I've ever had. I personally ordered a Vermicelli Bowl because who doesn't love noodles :) You can pick 2 proteins and it comes with a nice umami sauce, to which I added hoisin. Before leaving we ordered a Thai tea with boba for the road and was not disappointed. I will be revisiting soon! read more

Service- Good, attentive, came and checked on us frequently though they had maybe two servers. Food: Fairly Priced Goi Cuon Nem Nuong Spring Roll: 3.5/5 Delicious Egg Roll Cha Gio- 3.5/5 Crisp, not super oily, fairly priced Bun Vermicelli Combo, no Vermicelli extra veggies 4/5. Was good, fish sauce (nuoc mam) was okay. Che Thai: 2/5 Ive had better. It was okay. Bathrooms 1/5 Not cleaned and no toilet paper Total 4/5 because staff were attentive, food was decent and fairly priced. Overall it wasn't a bad experience. read more

Oh my... it was sooooo good. I'd been a few times before and gotten their shrimp spring rolls for take out (absolutely delicious by the way) but never dined in or tried anything else. This is now on my list of favorite places in Baton Rouge. The soup I had was so hearty and so yummy! Note: it's a little spicy, but nothing out of this world, just the right kick. Will definitely be coming back and recommending this to everyone, haha. read more
Finally got the bf to try Pho!!!! Checked this place out and i loved it as soon as i entered. Liked the modern decor..trendy and clean. Staff was helpful with menu questions and suggestions. We had the pho and it was delicious! Many great options on the menu but it was a chilly day so pho was on the brain. Everything was fresh and the broth was really flavorful. We had a small but it was quite a bit. Definitely get a lot of bang for your buck. Ample free parking since its in kind of a strip shopping area. Fyi..nice lil asian market next door. read more

Pretty nice entrance and interior! Inside isn't so big but there's a bar area and dine in. We ordered egg rolls (came out piping hot) which were good. My daughter's pho no meat was ok, broth a bit bland. My husband had wonton and a sandwich, he said they were ok. My parents had bun thit nuong cha gio with extra shrimp. I had hu tieu clear noodles with combo (meat & seafood). It was pretty good although my mom didn't like it. I ordered the bun thit nuong with cha gio and shrimp to go. That was tasty! The coconut kumquat drink was good, it had popping balls in it. The che suong sa hot luu was good. Not bad place to checkout if you're in the area read more

What do they have that is vegetarian? The menus are hard to read on the web.
I spoke with the manager and head chef recently, and they said they're adding vegetarian options to the menu asap! as of right now, their only vegetarian protein option is lemongrass tofu. it's off the menu, but they have it if you just ask for it.
