When I arrived back to work the bag was soaking with spilled soup leaking from the lid that was improperly closed. So freaking frustrating to have wet napkins, wet chopped sticks and having to wipe the table down taking time from my coveted lunch break. They packed the overcooked glue noodles, onion slivers, Thai basil and sprigs of cilantro in the to go box and tied bean sprouts, like to dam many sprouts in a plastic bag. My co-worker pulled out the spring rolls that were dam 3 inch children joke size. She was okay with the taste but not pleased. I have tasted some guud Pho and painstakingly made some f*ing delicious homemade Pho. Soooo... I was expecting something similar but got overly sweet water flavored with some spicy pepper sauce posing as a broth. Bad ass soup broth and sloppy packaging. I will stick with my own Pho and visit my favorite restaurant whose Pho is awesome but too pricey, so I don't visit often. I might give 225Baton Rouge Pho restaurant selection a try. Could see straight through to the bottom of the bowl in some areas which I've heard is a very good sign. Taste was good except that it was so salty that it was overwhelming. If the broth was less salty it would have been a perfect bowl of pho. Side bean sprouts, lime, and cilantro were fresh and plentiful. Service was friendly and prompt. Very spacious with plenty of seating inside. I've never had Vietnamese cuisine and this restaurant is down the street from my home, so I gave it a try. We ordered the Vegetable Pho with grilled tofu, vegetable spring rolls, and tofu fried rice. Everything was flavorful, perfect portions and hot. I absolutely loved the pho the best! I don't know how they grilled the tofu, but it tasted like it came right off of a grill, great smoky smell and nice flavor! This is now my number one favorite restaurant in Baton Rouge! read more

So good. So very good. Shrimp spring rolls are fresh and bright with a really good peanut sauce. My wife has been nursing a cold and sinus infection, and the clear chicken broth with noodles was a perfect antidote (and, as with all pho, it was too much so she'll be having leftovers). Me? No leftovers here. The beef broth is so rich and fatty you cam feel it coat your lips and mouth (that's a good thing). The meatballs are mildly spiced but very good. But what I LOVE is the basil, cilantro and jalapeño. Of course that's not a reflection of the chef, but serving it fresh and crispy is important, and they've hit it right. The service is great- attentive and friendly, and patient with the uninformed (i.e. those who are not intimately familiar with all things Vietnamese- don't be intimidated to ask). The restaurant has nice front area and 'modern looking decor inside. Not too crazy about the decor though. Plenty of dining space and the place seemed clean. The menu did seemed to have good spring roll items, I can see why the reviews were good for the spring rolls. When we got our pork and shrimp rolls, it was a mouthful and delicious. It wasn't cheap but pho didn't seemed to be expensive so all balances out. Our disappointment was in few little things. First the veggies seemed at least a day old. The pho was not hot and the meat size and soup portions was small. Meat slices were deli thin. Also, the menu says extra soup is actually extra cost. I think the kitchen or the server forgot our order and it was left to cool. We waited about 35 min for the pho after we ordered it. Two people after us got their pho far earlier then we did, and they came in after we got our spring rolls. The Pho soup wasn't as rich as any other restaurant in Baton Rouge. Tasty, but not from bone broth but rather, sauces. One other thing that bothered me was the server touching the rim of the bowl, and he had long unclean thumb finger nail. Not very appetizing. On the good side, coffee with milk was really good. We probably won't be back, as there are several better Pho place near by. read more

Food is always good , love the lettuce wraps , clay pot rice bowls and the pho is great anytime we go. The reason for the mid range review is that the place is getting dated, looks unloved and the bathrooms have gone from decent to downright disgusting. It makes me wonder how they clean their food prep and kitchen areas if they can't keep the restroom clean, supplies stocked and toilets from leaking. The dining area needs a little update as well.
