Great local find here Was pretty empty at five which take that as you will but I thought it was kinda nice. Despite it being empty the place was very fresh and clean. They had a good menu with a variety of options, which I hopefully will be back soon to try more. I got the chicken fried rice which was perfectly fried with plenty of food on the plate, along with that my mom and sisters got some sushi and a hibachi plate which they were very satisfied with. I took my little man here after his pre k graduation because he wanted to see food cooked in front of him and enjoy the show! I had the steak and chicken hibachi and he had the kids chicken. It was plenty if we decided to share but I ordered him his own plate. I also ordered the Cajun Roll which was pretty tasty. The lemon drop martini it was great. The service was less than desirable. We never got refills on our drinks. I couldn't get her attention to let her know my sons sprite was flat she stayed at the POS a majority of the time. We're told that we couldn't do half noodles half rice but when it was time to have our food cooked it the guy said we could. So that sucked I didn't change because I thought everything had been pre portioned. Our server never came back to the table until it was time to pay. I'm not going to lie this place was super questionable. It's missing a star for ambiance and service from the regular server *not the hibachi server. I came here starving with a few people. My daughter loves hibachi so this was perfect since it was so close to the house. I got dumplings and sushi rolls. Forgive me because I can't remember the names of the rolls but they were extremely good. My daughter and her friends got the kids hibachi. The chef was very funny and personable and sweet. My daughter loved him. Their food was great as well. However the drinks sat empty for a while so the service was lacking in that area. Service is bad. I didn't see our waitress ever again after we got our appetizers. Had to search for other employees to bring us our soy sauce for our rolls and finally get a check. Appetizers were fairly ok (except the shrimp tempura appetizer since the sauce tasted like it went sour), but the rolls weren't good. The sprites were flat and watery tasting. I came here tonight after the invitation of a customer after discussing a recommendation for sushi. His wife was ill so we picked a place near his house so I met him here. This was a quiet Monday night but nicely decorated Japanese steakhouse and sushi bar. It also happened to be all you can eat sushi for a little over $25 each which I can't really complain on. I've never been to an all-you-can-eat sushi bar that wasn't a Chinese buffet. We both ordered Tall Sapporo beers then just wrote down on a piece of paper what we liked off the menu or just what we like and our waiter just started bringing sushi. It was not crowded so the service was great, the sushi was fresh and delivered quite quickly . We had a lot of sashimi , several rainbow rolls, Nigiri, volcano roll, and I even asked them to make me a form of tuna poki which they made a good effort to do. We literally ate till we were stuffed and I have to say I was quite pleased. The staff was courteous, the owner came over to check on us a couple of times, and after reading other reviews perhaps my best tip would be going to Monday night and go early. I got there about 530 and we stayed until about 745. So for the locals since I'm from out of town, I would recommend it and again going to slower night versus a Friday night and I'm sure you will be pleased with the quality and freshness of the tuna, salmon, octopus, eel ... I am so upset with myself for living in this neighborhood, and just now stopping in. I brought my nephews for their first hibachi experience, it's the best I've ever had!!! We were first in a wave of guests that came in. We just had a party of 3, for hibachi. We were immediately seated. The server was quadruple sat, including a party of 8. If you enjoy having the waitress follow you to the parking lot to cuss at you and your family, this is the restaurant for you! We came in this evening to bring my 8 year old for some hibachi with his grandparents. We were a party of five plus an infant. We were told it would be at least an hour to sit at hibachi so we just took a regular table after being promised we could still eat hibachi food. In reality, a party of 12 left five minutes after we sat down, so maybe the hostess should learn how to gauge that situation slightly better. Our waitress was horrid from the moment we sat down - complained about the table arrangement, didn't timely bring thing we asked for, didn't apologize when a drink she served in a bottle spilled all over a party member, and was just down right rude. She then served the entrees and had no clue if the plates had filet or steak - served them, and then came back and said she served to wrong people. She didn't ask what temperature anyone wanted their steaks, so they were all over cooked. She then brings the check with an automatic 18% gratuity. Normally, I think it's a mistake when restaurants do this because we notoriously tip -20-25% for good service. This time, it was a mistake because she was so awful. We called her out for it and she flat out lied and said well our policy is automatic gratuity for a five top. I pointed out, that's interesting because your menu says it's for a six top. She then argued that the computers automatically did it. There is nothing worse than a server just lying to cover a mistake....we'll wait; there is. When they follow you to cuss you out in the parking lot. But we aren't there yet. We asked to see the manager who did literally nothing other than say he was sorry. He rang us up and we left a negligible tip for the waitress. I NEVER do this because I waited tables - I know it's a hard job. We left with my infant and 8 year old and before we could get in the cars, the waitress had run out to say "Thanks for being so crappy!" She yelled some other choice things at us and I went inside to find a real manager. Needless to say, the owner thought handing me $20 back would make up for this. She cussed at me some more in the restaurant and got in my face over how she had been a fantastic waitress and management didn't need to do a thing. The owner then gave me another $20 back and said really I still need to make money here. It wasn't until I said "Fine, I'll dispute the entire charge with my credit card and I'm also calling 911 since your waitress followed me out to my car." He quickly pulled out a few more twenties - but I still paid $90 for a terrible meal, horrible service and an assault in the parking lot. I think next time I'll take my hibachi and sushi without a side of verbal assault..... read more

We have eaten sushi here several times before and really liked it. This evening we decided to do hibachi for a friends son's birthday. It did not disappoint. We started with a Spanish mackerel appetizer that had the perfect amount of flavor and the texture. Next we started our hibachi experience. Wow. Our chef was so much fun and kept the show entertaining the whole time. The soup and salad are a great start leading up to the rice, noodles, and vegetables. But the meat is the star of this show. We got there at 7:10pm, the restaurant closes at 9:30 and to start hibachi you have to be there by 8:30 because it takes a long time. My husband and i have gone to this restaurant for a long time, so much so that people know us by name and our orders, unfortunately the person who greeted us said we could not get seated because there was a large party and theirs would take too long. let me add to this, there was no one else in the restaurant besides this large party and the two of us. we had gotten there an hour and 20 minutes before you had to be there to get hibachi and they would not seat us. I will never go back, when you give a restaurant good business and tip well and they treat you like this?? Yeah the food isn't good enough to be treated poorly. I've had difficulties with the free delivery service- they've forgotten to send my orders multiple times & I've had to call to remind them of my (already-paid) order. Don't recommend the tempura cheesecake- glorified panko-esque fried frozen cheesecake. Again, the sushi rolls, seaweed salad, miso soup & other apps we've tried are great! If you can get them to deliver your order, it's worth it! Yum! I also recommend ordering to-go orders online, as trying to order over the phone presented a tremendous language barrier issue & they never got my address correct, even after passing the phone to multiple people & hanging up on me accidentally. I also brought my three boys and my wife, and we all ate the hibachi (n.y. strip and shrimp, chicken, shrimp, and the kids got n.y. strip). The portions were huge, and the food was fresh. Everything is drenched in sauce, too salty, service was poor, prices were high. Our sushi rolls were both covered in eel sauce even though only 1 of them stated it was served that way. I like eel sauce, but these were drenched to the point that the sauce was all you could taste. The rolls were also poorly made so they fell apart when we tried to eat them. The hibachi chef was entertaining, but again everything was over-sauced and salty. Even the rice was soggy. There were only a few bites of vegetables served with the meal, the soup served tasted like it was made from bouillon cubes, and the service was horrible. Our plates had puddles of sauce from the ridiculous overuse of the various sauces they cook with. I actually had to take our empty glasses to the bar to get refills & there were only 2 other tables with customers at the time. Our waitress literally ignored us after the first five minutes and the few wait staff they had seemed confused and ill prepared for their jobs. This was the worst hibachi meal we've ever eaten while being one of the most expensive. Tokyo Cafe is far better with much more reasonable prices. We will not be returning to Nagoya again. read more

We were the other table in the dining room and my food took almost an hour to prepare. I honestly think they forgot my order. Might have been the worst service I have ever experienced from not being able to get a drink because the hostess could not make a drink to being told that the cook could not make chicken fried rice on the grill the food is mediocre for the price you pay, your appetizers get brought out seconds within each other with a plastics fork "try eating steak with a plastic fork" we were literally told that we cannot get a mixed drink because someone had called off and that only the chef can make drinks also had to tell the chef to make my fried rice with chicken because the guy taking our order didn't want to tell the guy himself, over all not work the 100$ I spent for 2 people. 1st visit. Definitely coming back. We had the Dragon Roll and Eel with Avacado roll. Also had gyoza. Everything was very tasty, sushi was well prepared, fast and fresh. The gyoza was also very nice. Pan fried and soft with very good flavor. Inside was suprisingly nicer than expected. I was able to witness a few of the Habachi acts, very entertaining and everyone seated seamed very happy. Prices seemed good and recieved great service from sushi chefs. They even made us a prompt to desert while we took everything in on the house. Waitress was very helpful and when she couldnt answer a question she got the help needed and took care of us. Would absolutely recommend to a friend. read more

My husband and I have been eating here weekly for 3 years. We really enjoy the discount Sunday thru Thursday before 6pm. We've tried other Sushi places but keep going back! They do have a high turn over in wait staff, not sure what that is about. But the sushi is always fresh and delish! There's usually people at the hibachi which is always fun. They have no problem making special rolls and recognize us when we go and remember what we like. They do a lot of to-go business. My roommates and I decided to try this place out since it was right down the street from the house. When we entered the restaurant, it was pretty slow (2 other tables) and we were asked if we wanted to eat hibachi or at a table. We asked if we could order hibachi from the table since only 1 person wanted hibachi but the hostess looked lost so we opted for the normal table. This should have been a sign to get out while we could have. Our waitress was very nice but was supposedly in training and spoke very little English, so we had to repeat our order a few times. For appetizers, we ordered: - Hamachi Enoki Mushroom - Hamachi Kama (which later found out that they were out) - Baked Salmon - Crab Rangoon For our entrees: - Sashimi Dinner - Buddha Belly Roll - Nabe Yaki Udon - Mackerel Sashimi - Sweet Shrimp Nigiri When the hamachi enoki mushroom came out, we noticed that they made the hamachi shitake instead (there are subtle differences between the two). When we asked the waitress about it, she brought it to the chef and he insisted that it was the correct order. I showed her the menu and described to her everything that was supposed to be included with it (ohba mint and a butter sauce; it came without ohba mint and a ponzu sauce instead) and the chef said that there was no more ohba mints and that the manager changed the sauce from the butter sauce to the ponzu sauce. However, when the buddha belly roll came out, there was ohba mint inside of the roll! We were lied to! There were also numerous other problems with our dinner service: 1. The sashimi dinner came with 4 types of fish, one of them being frozen tilapia which is appalling. For $22.95, I expect better. 2. I ordered mackerel sashimi, but it came out as nigiri (this could be an honest mistake) 3. The baked salmon was a ball of snowcrab topped with a cooked piece of salmon. The salmon was warm, but the snowcrab was ice cold. The snowcrab here is also pretty terrible. It was very dry and tasteless. The worst part of the evening was at the end when we requested to see the manager to let him know of our problems for the night (we always wait until the end so we have no surprises in our food). The waitress came out and informed us that the manager was not in yet we saw him walking around. We told her about all of our issues with the dinner service and she was very apologetic and offered to remove the items off of our bill. When I saw the manager walk by, I asked the waitress who that was and she replied "oh that's the manager...... uhh no thats my boss". She knew she was busted but she kept saying how busy he was, and at that time we were the only table there! We informed her that my roommate and I were sushi chefs for years and that the manager should come talk to us or else he will be losing business by losing customers. She was surprised and proceeded to ask us how they should make the butter sauce with the appetizer or how to improve the baked salmon. If you're going to open up a sushi restaurant, you should know how to do these things. If not, don't sell them! At the end of the night, we found out that Nagoya Cafe is owned by the same owners as the Nagoya buffet. This explained everything! We just spent $125 pre-tip on buffet quality food. The owners need to rethink their business plan, and find better quality chefs if they want to survive and increase their customer base. The manager also needs to man up and confront problems instead of forcing their servers to handle problems. tl;dr If you want buffet quality sushi at restaurant quality prices, then eat here. If not, save your money, time, and appetite and go eat at the other well known sushi joints in the area (Geisha, Sushi Yama, Ichiban). read more

We tried the happy hour. We sat at the sushi bar and ordered a spicy tuna roll in which we split. The sushi was fresh and pleased my palate. My friend ordered the seafood soup. Let me talk about that soup. It looks very strange when it comes out, I guess it is because of the fish in it. However, the soup was really good. I didn't eat the fish. I ordered the shrimp tempura with a spicy mayo. It is only three pieces but it is ONLY $3. The shrimp tempura is absolutely great. The staff went out of their way to get know us.
