Love Korean friend chicken and this place hits the spot. I have come here twice and have always gotten their crunchy chicken. Their pieces are large and they drizzle the sauce which does overpower the chicken or make it soggy. It is perfect with each bite of with the salty and the sauce which is hint of sweetness. You can small dish or turnip as a side with your chicken. Staff have always been friendly. I just wished they had more side choice. Pretty solid spot! I came here with my girlfriend for dinner the other night. I gotta say parking even just for a Sunday night was pretty bad. This is right by the movie theater and you can't park in the garage which is right there. Eventually I found a spot and we got right in. Not a big place but it was clean and the waitress was nice. We ordered fries for an appetizer then a half order of the fried chicken and a half order of the Vons Special sauce oven chicken. We got them both spicy and ordered a side of rice. We didn't wait very long and we got the fries first which were very crispy and yummy. The chicken and rice came soon after and for the most part I liked it. It's Korean style wings so a lot of the flavor is on the meat itself and I find it you normally don't need to use like ranch. The fried chicken was delicious it was spicy but just right and was crispy every bite. The oven with VonSauce was too damn spicy! I had to tap out after about three because I was sweating it up and my sinuses opened. I did bring them home and the next day I ate them with ranch and truthfully they were more enjoyable that way. Came here last Thursday , we bought 2 full orders of chicken. this place is trying, the chicken was not too small and both dishes did have good flavor, A good idea here would be to offer customers Handi Wipes the chicken we ordered with the sauces on them was getting a little messy and the napkins just were not getting the job done to keep clean. Ordered delivery through DoorDash during this COVID time. I ordered the Crunchy Fried Chicken-(full order) which is 24 pieces a mixture of drumsticks and wings. So the crunchy chicken is different from the crispy chicken. I like the crunchy one better because it has cruchier batter kinda like tempura. I love Vons chicken it reminds me of Bon Chon in South San Francisco. When I specified on the notes that I wanted soy garlic and radishes on the side, they gave me a good amount, which I appreciated, which means they read my notes. Which through experience most restaurants don't care about your notes. Their chicken is really good and I highly recommend trying them out if you haven't. read more

We've ordered through DoorDash 4 times now and it is honestly the best and friendliest service I have had throughout quarantine. Everything we've ever gotten here has been so. good. I do not usually post reviews, but I feel compelled to after reading the negative comment below for a place I love so much. To the person below: oh, silly person, how wrong you are. The chicken is not "stabbed to death" as you say, it's *scored*. If you had any understanding of cooking chicken, you would know this is a commonly-used technique to not only help marinades penetrate more deeply but to also allow the chicken to fry more evenly. "But fried chicken isn't marinated"! you might also say. Where again, you would be wrong. It's often brined in a solution of salt water or salt/sugar water to give it more flavor. And with regards to frying after scoring, the extra surface area allows the leg to cook more evenly - yes, that area ends up crispy (read: CRISPY, not "leather"-like), but the rest of the chicken is juicy and delicious. For you to so flippantly call this fried chicken "trash" shows your ignorance for not only common cooking techniques but also common etiquette. Phew, now onto the actual review of the place. Vons. Is. Wonderful. I mostly get the crispy drums but sometimes crispy wings as well. 90% of the time the chicken is cooked to perfection - very juicy on the inside and crispy on the outside. There is the rare instance that the inside is a little less juicy, but that is so few and far in between that I don't let it tarnish my opinion of this wonderful place. The cheese buldak and boneless ssam also are delicious! Lastly, the owner is such a sweet lady and I hope she doesn't take your review to heart, because she is doing an amazing job. New addition to the menu since I last dined here- cheese buldak! It's SOOO good! It's the perfect balance of sweet & spicy. Other dishes that claim to be "bulddak" usually over does it on the spice without keeping taste in consideration , but Vons was perfect. My husband doesn't take spice very well, but he devoured this and said it was very delicious. Definitely get it! Not sure, but it gave the chicken some extra umpf. Juicy, crispy, and flavorful definitely describe this chicken. Since I have eaten 99 Chicken in Santa Clara and Bon Chon Chicken in SSF, we decide to try Vons Chicken and skipped the burgers. We were pleasantly surprised, Vons sells fried chicken, oven baked chicken and side dishes. We decided to try one of each, the Mild Fried Chicken and the Soy Garlic Oven Baked Chicken. It was a good decision to try the restaurant. Here is my opinion, the mild fried chicken had a hint of sweetness with a very mild chili flavor, nice crunch and tender cooked chicken. The soy garlic chicken had s nice flavor too but really messy to eat. I preferred the fried chicken. They both came with Cole Slaw and a pink radish dish which I took home and my daughter liked. I liked the fried chicken the best. Overall, the service was good, a tad slow but good. It took awhile for the chicken which was okay by us since chicken right out of the fryer tastes much better than something that sat for a few minutes just so you can get your food more quickly. Vons is a bit more expensive than 99 cent or Bon Chon chicken both of which I consider the standard. I would rate Bon Chon, 99 Cent and then Vons but all with 4 star ratings. We came here last week to see what the buzz was all about. A new Korean place in town specializing in different types of chicken dishes, mainly two ways of cooking: fried or oven. And meals came with a small plate of coleslaw and radish. The server greeted us promptly when we came in and I proceeded to ask about the difference between the crunchy and the crispy. Crunchy had the light breading while the crispy was coated with heavy batter. I ordered the crispy since both me and my son liked our food closest to its natural state, not covered with a whole bunch of sauce and breading. The half size consisted of about 7 assorted pieces of chicken for $11.99. We also had a side order of Kimchi fried rice for $5.99 and an order of plain steam rice for $1.99. Our order came out fast. Kimchi fried rice came first, then the fried chicken and the plain rice. The chicken was piping hot and it was moist and delicious. It tasted fresh as well. The Kimchi fried rice was bland in flavor with a hint of spiciness. I liked the sticky rice used. The plain rice was okay too. Service was spotty. The server left and one of the Korean owners was there. She sometimes refilled our drinks and sometimes not. My son had to go ask for extra things we needed like napkins and to go boxes. She wasn't very attentive to our needs. I'd give it a 2-3 stars for service. I was surprised with the quality of the chicken. Despite the server were friendly and nice, the food was average. We checked this place out since it was "hot & new" but we left being Luke warm. Coming here, I was expecting chicken wings like San Tung in San Francisco. We ordered the oven baked von special baked chicken, half order for $12.99. I'm not sure why it's a "special" sauce when it taste straight up like BBQ sauce and some other spices. We wasn't really a fan of it. The chicken was moist but the sauce wasn't a WOW factor. We ordered the Kim chee fried rice, which was pretty taste and mild which accommodate with the fried chicken pretty well. The SO liked the complementary radish side dish. The cole slaw was ok.
