VolksWaffle was an amazing experience! The sweet, warm waffle with the fresh fruit and whipped cream was a great afternoon pick me up. Got a quick education in batter vs dough waffles, as I watched the team assemble this dessert that is a joy for the palette and soul. I don't think I will ever be able to go back to batter waffles. If I could give this place more then 5 stars I definitely would!! I took my student to VolksWaffle yesterday as she was craving something sweet and I'm so happy that I did. Owner made us super welcome and took his time to explain how waffles are made and also added extra Nutella! It's looks very clean and neat and don't get me started on the waffle, it tasted amazing, it was melting in my mouth! I decided to pay this place a visit one more time today just to treat myself! Not to mention that huge bonus is that it's literally one minute away from my home! As an European woman I can definitely tell the difference between actually Belgium waffle and fake stuff they made here in USA! One thing I forgot to mention, after my student and I got our waffle yesterday, Terry came out to give us complimentary bottle of water for the road! Thank you!! read more

I have eaten these waffles a few times at the Midtown Farmers Market. They are so unique and delicious!-not your ordinary Belgian waffle. More authentic based on his family tradition. Sweet, with a hint of crunch on the outside, my waffle oozed deliciousness today. I had heard about this place a long time ago and since moving to the area, I saw it while driving by the other day and had an appointment nearby and stopped by. It's a drive-thru and walk-up kiosk and is very cute, although there is a walk-up door, if the shade is down, you can just walk up to the drive-thru window and order there. I ordered "Most Wanted" and it was topped with strawberry slices, whipped cream, and Nutella, and was (I don't use this word often but it seems to fit here) scrumptious. Every light, fluffy bite of waffle was a treat and it was big enough to fill me up without feeling like I overdid anything. There is a good selection of waffles and a large drink menu as well. I already had a drink with me, otherwise I would have tried their matcha drink. I'm looking forward to coming back! read more

The waffles were phenomenal! As my friend said, we could really "taste the passion" behind their food. the workers were some of the nicest i've ever experienced. There was very little wait for how much we ordered and was in and out in less than 20 minutes with 5 orders of waffles and 3 coffee drinks. the building was small but very charming. I wish it was bigger so more people can see it and give them the business they very much deserve. I hope wonderful things for this place. I don't live in the area but I will definitely be back. read more

This was a random stop today... needed some coffee! The coffee was delicious! My daughter ordered the vanilla bean fraper and I ordered a cold caramel latte...the vanilla bean actually had vanilla flavor 100 times better than starbucks... my latte was really good too! And the service was excellent! Terry let us know he would modify our drinks to our liking! I don't know about you, but getting 2 coffees for the price of 1 at Starbuck s and it trading way better...I will be returning! Thank you Terry if I remember correctly they are open 8- 2 read more

Twp private parties later and I'm still enamored by the delicious simplicity of these mobile creations. As far as I'm concerned, the gentleman who runs this little portable food truck (a uniquely converted volkswagen) is a local food scene treasure, and his waffles are something everyone should experience. Last year, we ended up hiring him twice for two children's birthday parties. On both occasions he was prompt and expedient in his waffle service. Apparently, the dough comes all the way from Germany, giving it its unique flavor. He'll do a number of toppings by request but he likes to stick to the traditional whip cream with fruit like strawberries or blueberries and a caramel drizzle. A lot of kids request ice cream, which he will provide, but the ice cream-free version is his preference. I think his only requirement for a private event is a certain number of people - 20 or so. Other than that he is laid back and flexible. We hired him once at a private residence and once at a public park. read more

Best Belgium Waffle place place I've found. Located in the middle of the parking lot of Manzanita Plaza and has drive thru service. I tried the Ice Cream Works and it tasted delicious; the fruits were fresh and crisp, and the waffle was just perfect. I will try The Most Wanted next time as the ice cream took away a little of the spotlight from the waffle itself. read more

VolksWaffle has a way of pulling you in magnetically & then holding you there for a moment in time, like you've just transported to another land to taste waffles made from infancy. They are deep fluffy pockets of delectable gooeyness that screams, "dessert waffles"! So far in CA, for me, I've only had waffles this good out in Monterey (but who wants to drive there from Sac?) Not much for veganism.... but if you're craving chocolate, fruity, filling food on the (drive thru) fly...... make the trek out here. Easy to spot. Check hours under the pictures, tho. I believe they're usually closed up by 2-2:30 pm daily so plan accordingly. read more

We booked VolksWaffle to cater our baby shower. To put it simply the experience was amazing. Starting with the converted VW bus to cook and serve the most incredible Belgian waffles. The blueberry and strawberry toppings were fresh and if you wanted could be served with a perfect slice of ice cream. I would absolutely book again and would recommend it to anyone looking for a unique catering experience. read more

The waffles are AMAZING here. Volkwaffle was working at one of my company's annual summer party just today and I loved it sooo much I decided to sit down and write a review. I really enjoyed their waffles and customer service. I got mine with whipped cream, strawberries, nutella, and a bit of powdered sugar and oh my god, it was the best waffle I ever had in my life. Life-changing. My bf ended up going back 3 times within an hour because it was absolutely amazing. I wish I took pictures, but honestly it was just too good I completely forgot. Terry was the guy operating the volkswagen, and he offered exceptional customer service and I had an amazing time talking and getting to know him. Also, this whole concept of a super cute red volkswagen food-truck serving the best Belgian waffles is probably the coolest thing I have ever seen. I would definitely recommend this to everyone I know. read more

The cutest little waffle place ever. Accessible-just drive up! Amazingly friendly and helpful owner/operator. He had great recommendations and best of all the waffle was sooo good that mine didn't even make it home. The coffee was amazing too-I trusted the owner in what he gave me and was not disappointed. Two shots of espresso and half and half. Nice and smooth, strong flavor. Perfectly complementary to the sweet fruit, waffle, and whip. read more

Terry was so informative and hospitable! He made my boyfriend and I feel so welcomed, as we walked up to his stand for hot cocoa. With no intentions of eating a waffle, his history and explanation of the treat was too yummy to pass up, so we tried one with whipped cream and strawberries. It was outstanding. One of the few things that catches your eye at the Sacramento Farmer's Market is this bright-red VW bus converted into a waffle kitchen. Where the trunk would be is a small freezer/fridge where oblong mounds of uncooked waffle sit at the ready. Where the back seats would be is now a mini-preparation area lined with reflective copper panels. A few waffle irons here, containers of add-ons there, and a big container of powder-sugar is all there really is to it. With a quick spritz of lubrication on the griddles, the pre-measured mounds find a warm home to cook, crisp, and crystalize. Out of the two options, I decided on The Most Wanted: one of their waffles topped with strawberries, whipped cream, and chocolate. There would be a slight wait in its creation from refrigerated mound to crispy, golden, oval waffle-ness. Now I thought it would be your standard vanilla-flavored waffle, but it turned out to be a leige-style/Belgian waffle with chunks of sugar crystals packed into the batter and occasionally scorched by the cooking process. It doesn't need syrup and makes for more of a street snack. The strawberries lent their bright tartness to the table while the chocolate and whipped cream provided a bit more sweetness for your tongue to swing between flavors. It's a very satisfying and dense little sucker from an intriguing little...food VolksWagon. I fail to call it a food truck since it's not really a truck. Either way, if you can hunt it down, I'd try it. I give it a fabulous 5. read more

My 2-year old was asking for waffles all morning while I was rushing to get ready for work. The freezer was out and my box of Bisquick was near empty. *If only there was somewhere that sold quick, hot waffles.* I thought to myself. And then I remembered VolksWaffle. That little red box I drove past everyday on my way to work. What fortuity. Divine providence. My son was in luck. Aiming only to appease him, I ordered one waffle with a light drizzle of cookie butter. It is only Tuesday after all. Once we arrived at his daycare, before I sent him inside with the sorry-I-go-to-work-and-let-someone-else-raise-you-guilt-waffle, I took a bite. I have never tasted something so amazing. Perfection. Not just a waffle. This was a real Belgian waffle. Sweet sweet salvation. And to think I had to relinquish this to my toddler that usually eats frozen Eggos straight from the freezer. Our food arrives and my biscuits are hard as a rock, the gravy is hot.. my eggs are not cooked poached and the bacon was cooked perfectly. I said something to my waitress about the hard biscuit and she apologized and walked off. I was a little confused? I finish eating my bacon and my non poached eggs. At this point I was waiting on my bill and ready to leave. The waitress comes back with the check and had the audacity to say, did you not like your biscuits abs gravy? Like, lady I told you the biscuits were hard as a rock I even hit them with my fork. She apologized again and said, she forgot I said they were hard. She asked me to give her a few minutes. She came back and asked if I wanted them remade I said, no and just wanted to pay my bill. This experience put a bad taste in my mouth. I still paid full price for my breakfast even though I didn't eat the biscuits. Oh well! Their prices are great, but that's about all. I probably won't be back. There are too many breakfast restaurants to receive subpar service.

This time started off a little rough, but in the end they made it right, which is why I'm writing this review. I placed a to-go order for steak, shrimp, and chicken fajitas. The order was repeated back to me correctly when I called it in. When I arrived to pick it up, the restaurant was extremely busy and the staff was clearly focused on serving the diners inside first, so my order took about an extra 25 minutes. Not ideal, but understandable given how packed the restaurant was. Unfortunately, when we got home and opened the bag, the fajitas only contained steak -- there was no chicken or shrimp included. I called the restaurant and spoke with the manager to explain what happened. At first there was some back-and-forth about possible solutions, including bringing the food back or only replacing part of the order. My husband had already started eating because he was hungry, so returning the food wasn't really practical. To the manager's credit, she took the situation seriously and actually called the owner at home to explain what had happened. Shortly afterward she called me back and let me know the owner approved remaking the entire order correctly at no additional cost. That completely changed the experience. For me, good customer service isn't about the money -- it's about making things right when a mistake happens. Once they stepped in and corrected the situation, it showed they value their customers and their reputation. Mistakes happen at every restaurant, especially when things are busy. What matters is how a business responds. Cantina Azteca ultimately did the right thing, and because of that we will absolutely continue to come back. Thank you to the manager and owner for making it right.

We order the eggs Benedict with country potatoes, breakfast burger and breakfast tacos. It's always nice to be served breakfast and enjoy a place close to home. The potatoes were fried pieces of potato and garnished with a tablespoon of cooked peppers and onions. The burger was better with beef and pork, egg topper. The tacos tasted like cooked hamburger meat, not chorizo. It could be us, as our expectations were more in line with the Portland Oregon breakfast scene. Toasted Rooster is definitely a step up on those waffle and chain breakfast stops, put two steps behind the Portland breakfast scene. The thing that bothered me the most was the sales tax. They are charging sales tax as if they are in the City of Sacramento, not the county. The extra1% they charge I hope that the staff gets the $$

This is by far the best waffle available in California! My wife and I went this morning and shared something with caramel and strawberries and all sorts of goodness on it no. But this guy explained how they fly their dough in from Belgium and all that stuff like every few days and they keep it frozen at a certain temperature and then they anyways all these details are definitely come out in the favor because it is amazing! These donuts are the freshest most delicious donuts I have encountered in a long time. I was in Heaven biting into the most crunchiest on the outside and so fluffy/moist on the inside Apple Fritter!!!! This sweet little lady really knows how to make a delicious Apple Fritter. I also tried a cake donut with chocolate frosting...also so fresh and moist...I really enjoyed both of my donuts!!! The cup of coffee with half and half I bought to chase my donuts was very fresh and yummy also. Was the best thing I could have chased my donuts with!!! The little lady behind the count was so warm and welcoming. She even laughed at my sense of humor with me as I paid for my delicious donuts. If you're like me and craving a donut and you're in the area...this is the place for you. Well I'd say it's worth the drive to go out your way for this donut spot!!! We made a spontaneous stop here on a Sunday around 10:30a while on an outing. The inventory was…read morequite depleted. The kind & sweet lady working there was apologetic. Apparently, a big local event was happening that day & a lot of people had come in earlier. The shop was clean. The floor to ceiling windows made it bright with natural light . There were a few tables for 2-4 people to sit & enjoy treats there. We picked a buttermilk bar with chocolate glaze & a chocolate cake donut with chocolate glaze & coconut. She generously threw in a raised glaze! We also got a mocha. The mocha was just basic. The buttermilk bar had a nice outer crust, a tender inside, & the chocolate wasn't too sweet. Just my kind of donut! Little one said her cake donut was delicious & enjoyed it with enthusiasm. The raised was yeasty & not overly sweet. Overall, tasty traditional donuts & nice service.
