I'm not sure why I have not stopped here sooner, what a wonderful neighborhood bakery and cafe!! I came in looking for a special treat for a birthday and didnt want to buy a whole cake and have a bunch of leftovers since only one person was having cake. I was pleasantly surprised by the selection of cakes and specialties, as well as pastries that were available. I chose a bear claw and decided to eat that while I was there, since there was no way to eat that in the car with the powdered sugar, etc., making a mess. They put it on a plate and brought it to me. I also chose a Napoleon and a slice of carrot cake and a peanut butter cookie to take to go. I asked if they had a pick that said happy birthday and she went in the back and found one for me so it was one stop shopping for what I needed. What I was so surprised with was they have crêpes and sandwiches and many items I was unaware of. I definitely will have to come back and try some more and maybe come back for lunch or brunch. The lady was super helpful and friendly. There's nice seating inside if you want to eat your goodies here as well. I am knocking one star off of my review because the customer experience could be better. I purchased a beautiful fresh loaf of sourdough bread today. A friend in the area convinced me to try this bakery. Their sourdough bread (only available on the weekend) is everything that I want for sourdough bread to be. In fact, I favor it over the famous San Francisco bakery that I will not name. The bread is that good! The bread is stretchy, chewy, and crusty. Absolute perfection. Here is where I removed a star. I asked if the bread could be sliced and I was told "no" without any explanation. What bakery doesn't slice bread? I would have paid extra for it. So I didn't tip at the register due to the lack of explanation. There is a bakery in the Bay Area who makes a best freshly baked famous sourdough cheese bread round and they happily slice it without an issue. I didn't consider my request to be unusual. I am still wondering what the issue is with my bread being able to be professionally sliced. read more

Took to trusty yelp to find a coffee shop for my friend and I's monthly meet up. Was very excited to see this one was close to my house and close to her work. The photos we saw on Yelp all looked so good! Located on Fair Oaks it's easy to find, it has a parking lot but it was pretty full as they share it with the many other businesses. The inside is on the smaller side but I did really like how quaint it was. As much as I wanted too, I didn't order any food, just a coffee. They brew Temple coffee and I got the honey latte with almond milk. I'm not sure if they used actually honey or a syrup but it was very sweet. Next time I'll have to ask if they can do only half sweet. They have an incredibly appetizing pastry case and they had wonderful service! read more

What a gem! Located right off Arden/fair oaks blvd. If you're not paying attention, you may miss it. It is such a cute, quaint bakery, and they offer some really great breakfast items. I've heard they're known for their soups. I came in the morning and the staff was super pleasant and their coffee was delicious. I love this place. The owner is extremely friendly and so kind. I used to come here to work weekly and she would always encourage me to try her newest sweets/ drinks. We have great conversations and I love supporting a small business for her and her family. I like that they have the same tea as temple but wish the flavors would be replicated. One of a chocolate croissant (pain au chocolat) and one with a slice of carrot cake and a Chocolat cream cheesecake The chocolate croissant was everything a croissant should be Flaky and buttery and generous amounts of chocolate. Best one I've had outside a Parisian patisserie The carrot cake was moist with just the right amount of frosting and the chocolate cream cheesecake was rich with an amazing chocolate shell You may look at the menu and think the prices are steep. I was in the area looking for a place to get a sandwich and came across Elite Bakery. I ordered the American sandwich, which was turkey, bacon, cheese, tomato, garlic aioli and mixed greens on sourdough bread. Overall the sandwich was good. I assumed it was a cold sandwich, so I added mayo and mustard. The sandwich was not hot, but it was warm, so I would not have ordered mayo if I knew that. The sourdough bread was amazing, it was freshly baked there. The turkey said cured turkey. I didn't know what that was, but it tasted more like ham. The bacon on the sandwich was nice and thick. I would come here again for a sandwich, but would order it different now that know how it comes. I prefer either a hot grilled sandwich, or a cold sandwich. I'm not a huge fan of a warm sandwich with some ingredients cold and some warm. It just turns the whole sandwich into a room temperature sandwich. read more

I went for the first time today, because the rating is so good. It's probably a "one and done" for me. Everything looked really good, but I was served very stale bakery items. The tea cake was dry. It needs more butter, and it wasn't sweet enough either. The chocolate cupcake was the most stale out of all the items I tried. I wouldn't be surprised if it had been sitting there three or four days. If you're going to charge such a high amount for a slice of cake and a cheesecake ($10), please be sure you're serving fresh food. I would not recommend this bakery. read more

Cashier was patient and professional. We got the croissant and 2 chocolate chip cookies to try. Not bad. To me, the croissant was a little dry. Chocolate chip cookie was ok. If we ever drop by there again, they have a few other pastries we may try. Don't know what they are called. But they looked good. Bottom line up front: fantastic bear claw but ehh blueberry scone and vanilla bean cheesecake. The bear claw has an almond filling that's very bold in almond flavor. Delicious! One of the better bear claw fillings that I've had for sure. The blueberry scone is really soft and is almost like a flattened muffin top. This feature is fine, but it's lacking in flavor even with the blueberries. I suppose on the bright side it could be like a good light-tasting pastry complement to some tea. Was hoping that the vanilla bean cheesecake would be amazing and although really creamy the grounded vanilla bean flavor kinda clashes with the super tanginess of the cheesecake base used here (particularly more tangy than expected). Also the crust is a bit bland. Hit and miss overall, but I'm still eager to try other items here (like the savory ones)! read more

We had a delivery order this morning and everything was phenomenal- I typically don't take to yelp but this place is so worth checking out. We had the green smoothie: tasted like banana with creamy avocado and is so stinking good. Also had a caramel iced latte, large with four shots of espresso: the house made caramel made this possibly the best iced latte I've ever had. The hot chai latte: delicious and strong ginger and spice flavors; possibly the best chai I've had in Sacramento.
