We tried the baklava, a specialty Neapolitan pastry, and a delicious cream-filled pastry topped with crushed Biscoff cookies and cream. Each one was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. For lunch, we ordered the Chicken Pesto Panini, the Tri-Tip Chimichurri Sandwich, and the Tri-Tip Southwest Salad. Every dish was generously portioned, fresh, and packed with flavor. The specialty sandwiches and salads are definitely worth coming back for. They also serve Pete's Coffee and have a high-end espresso machine for anyone needing a quality caffeine fix. From the outside, it looks like your ordinary café, but once you walk inside, it's surprisingly spacious, clean, and beautifully decorated with art and games. Our server welcomed us with a warm smile, which made the experience even better. They have plenty of options for food, drinks, and desserts. One thing I absolutely loved was that they had samples of all their cakes. I got the red velvet cake with a chai latte, and he got the Salmon Sunrise bagel, and a cold brew coffee. I stopped by Cafe 33 on a Sunday morning with some friends after seeing reviews on Yelp. I had the Pepperoni Pizza Pastry and friends had croissant sandwiches. It wasn't super busy, but had a few other customers. The Pizza pastry was flaky and delicious. It came with a side of a spicy thousand island sauce. I wish it was a bit larger for the $10 price, but it had good flavor. My friends were pleased with their croissant sandwiches and we decided to return soon to try additional items. (Though I do want to note that the girl taking orders said she would tell her boss to fix it in the POS system, so hopefully they do). I opened up the container for the Salmon Sunrise Bagel and was extremely underwhelmed - it was a un-toasted plain Bagel with nothing on it but Salmon, cream cheese and capers. The description and picture on Door Dash looked NOTHING like what I received - it was supposed to be a toasted Everything Bagel with salmon, cream cheese, capers, tomatoes and onions. It was terrible and not worth the $9! My husband only took about 3 bites of his Sausage Sunrise Croissant before he tossed it and the Tater Tots were nothing special either. They also got one of the coffees wrong - we ordered a Black Tie coffee and we ended up receiving an iced Vanilla Latte. The Havana Cappuccino was decent and the Carrot Cake looked okay (we had yet to try it before this review). Delicious balance of fresh vegetables (tomato, onion, cucumber) that topped the cream cheese. I was there on a Sunday morning around 10ish. This place was half filled, somewhat quiet and cozy. They serve Peet's coffee drinks so I'll skip on reviewing the drinks. The menu features a variety of delicious sounding items, and the croissant Sando's all sound really good! I ordered the loaded turkey. OMG! It was everything I wanted and then some. Freshly sliced turkey, crisp bacon, light fluffy scrambled eggs, tomato, avocado, and a house made aioli. I would have preferred regular mayo. I did need to add salt and pepper. It's a pretty generous serving, albeit a tad pricey, it's very filling. Cafe 33 also offers desserts. The case has a variety of yummy choices, and we of course had to try one. The cake slice was $5.00, WORTH IT! It's a really reasonable price, and a must try. We ordered the carrot cake. I like that it was nut free! Well, it was a pretty tasty offering, there's something about a more traditional carrot cake that has the raisins and pineapple in it that I really enjoy, and this missed that mark. Ordering is done at the counter, and you pick up your food from the counter, so they don't offer table service, and customer service is not fabulous. Visited yesterday with high hopes after seeing all the glowing reviews, the place looked stunning! Unfortunately, things took a turn as soon as we stepped in. We were immediately hit with a strong "wet dog" smell. As dog owners ourselves, we love dogs and know what they smell like--especially on hot days--and we couldn't help but wonder why it was so noticeable indoors. That initial impression was disappointing. We noticed the kitchen door in the back was wide open, leading to an outdoor area. A very cute puppy was freely running in and out of the kitchen, where food is being prepared. Our first thought was: is this sanitary? We figured maybe the door would be closed soon. We totally understand how brutal Sacramento summers can be, and the need to manage heat and energy. But between the strong odor coming from outside and the dog running back and forth into the kitchen, it just wasn't an ideal situation. Keeping the door shut might have helped with both the smell and the heat. I ended up stepping outside while my partner ordered food to-go. We truly love supporting our local spots and want to see them succeed--but we also believe in leaving honest reviews. I will say that from a visual standpoint, "Cafe 33" isn't much to look at when you're driving by on busy Fulton Ave. But as soon as you step foot inside, you are greeted by a modern, spacious, inviting, and truly breathtaking interior where every square inch is maximized to the full potential. And when you factor in that this place sells coffee (using Peet's brand), juice, bagels, croissants, and pastries, you've got a huge amount of options. But that's not all.. This place also makes artisan sandwiches, paninis, wraps, bowls, salads, as well as beer and wine. Located in the heart of the Arden-Arcade neighborhood of Sacramento, Cafe 33 is directly on Fulton Ave with Alta Arden Expressway being the nearest cross street. Ever since opening back in early-2023, this place has gained many positive reviews with many people becoming regulars after their first visit. I think what makes this place unique is that you don't see a whole lot of places in this part of town which dwindles down even more when you get deeper into the suburbs of Carmichael and Fair Oaks. As I mentioned earlier, the inside of this place is the real charm. The modern wooden panels flowing throw the dining area paired up with matching wooden tables/chairs, comfy throne-type chairs, lots of plants throughout, and a neon sign of the business with a fake ivy backdrop really shows how much care and emphasis the owners did in designing everything. Finally, they also have some very cool modern artwork that gracefully flows through the hallway that is adjacent to the restrooms. The exterior proudly displays the business name in very large letters as well as limited seating for one small group on the more comfortable Sacramento mornings and afternoons. The good news is that they are open 7 days a week; Monday through Friday from 7:30am-3pm, Saturday from 8am-3pm, and Sunday from 9am-3pm. Since I had extra time off of my busy work schedule, I decided to come here during the morning of Thursday 6/12/2025 at around 8:45am. Upon entering, there was only one other customer inside. The young lady behind the counter took my order as I ended up going with their "Salmon Sunrise Bagel" (for $9). This was a plain bagel complete with fresh thinly sliced salmon, a generous dallop of cream cheese, and capers. The order only took about 3 minutes before it was served to me on a nice wooden tray. The bagel itself was very hearty, doughy, and offered excellent texture. And when paired up with the salmon/capers (a.k.a. a "Lox" bagel), the flavors all pulled together nicely. I will say that this is an excellent and quiet business which is perfect if you plan on spending time here to work or study. The only drawback is that prices are a tad bit on the pricey side while I hope someday they could extend the hours through the evening. Other than that, this was a very positive experience. Except for a few tables I saw had dirty dishes on it. Eventually, a staff cleaned it. 3) there were games on the shelf you can play while waiting or just to bond. Glad they had games. 4) water is on the shelf to get at your pleasure. Napkins on the counter. 5) menu is on the wall. Order at the cashier. 6) they bring you your foods. Our sandwiches were all good. You get a choice of chips or coleslaw. Pepperoni pizza pastry was good. 7) one of the staff brought out these little tiny biscoff cheesecake samples. It was so good! What a cool spot for a stop. We were enroute from Tahoe to the Bay Area and three of us were looking for a lunch time bite. Cafe 33 filled our wish perfectly. Our choices were a ham and cheese panini with chips, the southwest tri-tip bowl and a tri-tip chimichurri sandwich with a side of Cole slaw. The tri-tip on both entrees was perfectly tender, the delicate black beans in the bowl were delicate, firm and tasty not mushy. I had their croissant sandwich, and it really floored me! All the ingredients in it were super fresh, but the eggs were really out of this world. They had a pillowy softness that I hadn't gotten from any other place in town. Another item that totally knocked me off my feet was the pistachio cake. This slice of heaven is perfectly balanced in that it is not too sweet or too creamy. It has the perfect taste that makes you want to go back for more. And in my case, I did! I understand being a small business and running out of supplies but what I don't understand is how you don't inventory the kitchen so customers don't order items that have out of stock ingredients. So I asked if I could change my order and the gal then said she would check to make sure but offered alternatives like avocado. I told her without the feta it's not really Greek. The food and drinks? Absolutely amazing. I had the best croissant breakfast sandwich I've ever tasted! This isn't your typical sit-down restaurant, you order at the counter, then soak in the great ambiance while they prepare your meal, which I personally loved. Unfortunately our positive overall dining experiences were outweighed by the fact that a dog was in the kitchen off and on for part of the time we were dining. The atmosphere when you enter sets the cafe apart from the neighborhood: it's charming and well decorated. A broad menu and great selection in the cake/pastry case are encouraging. To our liking, the viennoiserie (bread pastries) looked small and dry, so we opted for a panini and the American. Both are quite good. The waffle is excellent: crisp on the outside, soft and tasty on the inside. I wish it had been warm enough to melt butter, but it was tasty anyway. I ordered my eggs over medium; they came with a hard bottom and just a tiny bit of softness in the yolk - like a medium-hard, but I was able to eat them. The bacon is deLICious. Back to the dog: two other customers asked about the dog. It is, off course, a health code violation. They had noticed it in the "office", which adjoins the kitchen. We, overhearing, felt the answers to the couple's questions were cagey at best. The couple had not had the vantage point our table did at the end, or they'd have seen what we did; without the presence of a dog gate, though a staff member did try to block the dog a number of times it did enter the kitchen. One of the times this happened a staff member picked the dog up in the kitchen and held it there for a number of minutes, petting it, before taking it back into the office.
