We came in here after a meeting with clients. I am so glad we stumbled upon this place. Inside, it was clean and bright with some gentle music playing setting the tone for a relaxing lunch. They have a small but unique menu and were willing to make a few small modifications to the dishes we ordered. I ordered the locks and cream cheese bagel that was beautifully presented with capers and thin sliced red onion on top. It was perfectly balanced for flavors and absolutely delicious. My wife ordered the baked brie sandwich. It came with thinly sliced apple, which perfectly balanced with the brie along with some arrugalula. My wife said this was the best brie sandwich she had ever had. They have several gourmet coffee and espresso drinks along with a beautiful selection of croissants and pastries. I stopped by Chez Luc's on a day off from work. I had my dogs with me in the car because I was taking them to the park, so I just came in for some grab and go. I ordered an iced oat milk latte with their homemade honey sweetener and an almond croissant. I wanted to try more of their food menu, but their kitchen does not officially open until 10 AM and I was there too early. The service was friendly and attentive. I was the only customer in there at the time, but it was nice to hear a little bit of their backstory. The space is clean and modern and definitely the sort of coffee shop. I would want to hang out and spend some time in. As for what I ordered, the latte was creamy and perfectly sweet without being overpowering. The almond croissant had a slightly overpowering almond extract flavor to it. If the almond extract was toned down a little bit, it would've been perfect. I look forward to coming back and trying more of their food menu at another time. read more

I almost don't want to leave this review because I'd like to keep Chez Luc to myself -- but it deserves the hype. From the moment we walked in, it felt like we'd been transported somewhere far from Sacramento. The space is cozy but elegant, with that classic French bistro charm that somehow feels both romantic and relaxed at the same time. I came for brunch and left fully obsessed -- specifically with the Caramel Apple Butter Matcha Latte. I don't even say this lightly: it might be the best matcha drink I've ever had. It was perfectly balanced -- they use K&K matcha which is absolutely elite in my book, paired with that warm caramel and subtle apple butter flavor that made it feel cozy without being overly sweet. It tasted like fall in a cup! The minute we entered we felt genuinely welcomed. The baristas who I would also assume are the owners from the multiple times I've already gone to Chez Luc's, are warm, attentive, and thoughtful. They're always knowledgeable about the menu and give great recommendations It's the kind of place where you leave thinking, "Wow, that was just a really great experience." The latte was a solid 4/5. Can you really mess up a coffee? The avocado toast on the other hand, negative stars, 0/5. They use a thin slice of bread and lather it with that premade WHOLLY GUACAMOLE. Awful. In my entire life ordering avocado toast, I have never had anyone spread premade guacamole. One thing that Sacramento truly lacked for the longest time was a French-inspired coffeeshop. This takes us on a journey to the Arden-Arcade neighborhood of Sacramento where I finally had the honor in checking out "Chez Luc's French Cafe". Located at the corner of Fulton Ave and Munroe St (and actually behind the main parking lot at Loehmann's Plaza), this place has been cranking out delicious coffees, tea, and a variety of baked good and breakfast favorites since the summer of 2025. Best of all, they're open for business 6 days a week; Tuesday through Sunday from 7:30am-3:00pm. I came here with my lady during the afternoon on Saturday 2/7/2026 at around 12:30pm. Parking is a bit tricky with only a few dedicated spots but they offer additional parking (where the sports bar is) on the other side. Upon entry of this business, I was pleasantly surprised just how cozy and inviting the interior is. Everything from the white sofa to the French chairs and vintage art, the owners did an amazing job recreating this as unique to a Paris cafe as possible. The outdoor patio is equally as good as you will encounter a covered gazebo over a picnic bench as well as several other outdoor patio tables & chairs. The open-air feel truly captivates how tranquil this place can be anytime of day. As for their drink & food options, they carry a decent assortment of hot & iced coffees/espresso drinks as well as matcha and Chai (for the non-coffee drinkers). Their food menu ranges from delicious muffins & cookies to some excellent French offerings that includes a Croque Monsieur, Jambon Beurre to the more traditional options such as Avocado Toast, a Salmon Bagel, and refreshing salads. Since we didn't want to get too filled up, we split an excellent Blueberry Muffin to enjoy. As for our drinks, she went with an Iced Vanilla Latte while I ordered their Iced Matcha Latte (with house made molasses). WIthin 5 minutes, our drinks were ready! Customer service was exceptional as one of the young men (whom I'm guessing is the owner), personally brought our drinks to our table. Overall, my iced matcha was delicious while that molasses added that boost of extra sweetness. Her iced latte was also above average as it tasted much better than the majority of local coffeehouses she has been to. I will say that having this business in this part of town is a warm welcome (other than a typical Starbucks) as the only other independent coffee shop is Temple Coffee (on Fair Oaks Blvd) is in this general area. All in all, when your combine the overall vibe of this place with the decor and ambiance, "Chez Luc's" hits all the high notes. My rating, a perfect five-stars. read more

You know I'm so proud of the coffee culture in Sac. No viral trend-chasing BS; if you're opening a coffee shop around here you better impress because we Sac area folks don't play when it comes to coffee. :p - White chocolate peppermint mocha (seasonal): probably the most well-balanced peppermint mocha that I've had. Suuuper smooth. Nothing too in-your-face from the peppermint to the chocolate. The flavors just blend seamlessly together! - Eggnog latte (seasonal): was expecting a strong eggnog taste but it was a bit subtle but still noticeable. I think the drink was fashioned to be more as a very soothing one, and I'm not mad at it! - Blueberry scone: buttery and tender. Fave part is the crispy sugar coating on top! - Chocolate croissant: more soft and dense than what I prefer for a croissant, but no skimping on the dark chocolate batons inside of the croissant! They have a very cute patio with tables and two full picnic tables with plenty of sun and shade. The staff were friendly and helpful. Our food was beautifully crafted. We tried the salmon bagel and the avocado toast. Both were fresh and amazing! The latte was smooth and not overly sweetened or milk heavy. Definitely try to Cafe Viennois. Similar to an affogato but instead of ice cream they use a housemade whipped cream. It is heavenly! read more

Went to Chez Luc's after hearing so much about them. They are located behind or near the Loehman's Plaza. It's a small building and although, it looks like plenty of parking, it was still hard to come in and out. Ordered the Caramel Apple Butter Latte with oat milk and a croissant. I came just before their kitchen opened and wasn't able to order any food. The croissant was perfectly crispy but I wish it was a little warmed up. The apple butter was surprisingly not that sweet. I didn't request for half sweet like I usually do with other places but the latte was sweet enough without modifications. There are plenty of seating with a nice private patio garden area. This place is absolutely adorable. I came here because I had tried a chocolate sandwich that my sister brought me once and I wanted to try another one. I was going to get coffee from Temple but they had a line out the door so I just decided to get coffee here when I also got my chocolate sandwich. The coffee was great, the service was fantastic, and the place is super cute inside. There were two young men working who were very friendly and sweet. Nice seating area, decorated cute for Christmas, and it looks like there's a patio outside where you can bring a dog and a book and hang out. Definitely should give this place a try. And you must get a chocolate sandwich that is the whole point of coming here!!! It is absolutely delicious and it makes me feel like I'm a kid in France. The interior for the coffee shop is very modern and French and feels cozy! We can during the holiday time so the cafe had a Christmas tree by the entrance I had the lox bagel and it was delicious! Wasn't too overpowering with the red onions and tampers, just right! The bagel was well toasted and a great amount of cream cheese. The coffee I had was a traditional macchiato and it was definitely strong and something new I've tried. I'm more of a sweet coffee person but if you're into strong coffee, try it out! read more

Chez Luc is a cute new-ish coffee shop tucked away behind Loehmann's Plaza. Love the décor in here! Unfortunately we came too early in the morning to enjoy their food menu, but they did have a pastry case so we tried their spinach feta croissant and bbq chicken croissant, which were both delicious! Even the kids enjoyed the spinach one. They had some new menu items so we tried out their caramel apple butter latte and the matcha version as well. I think the caramel apple butter flavor came out more in the matcha but both were so good! And they have beautiful cup ware here too if you dine in. Another thing I loved was the coloring pages and colored pencils available at the back wall! I came here on a Sunday afternoon with a group of friends. It was busy, but the service was friendly and accommodating. We had a large group of 8 and were able to bring two tables together. I ordered a baked Brie sandwich and their apple butter latte off their holiday special menu. The apple, arugula, and Brie went well together and the bread was crunchy. The latte was also good, though didn't really have a strong apple butter flavor. This is an outstanding cafe! I had actually never heard of it before and was going to go to a well-known cafe down the street, but it was packed. I Yelped other cafes and this one popped up. Oh my goodness I'm glad it did! Chez Luc's is a beautiful and elegant restaurant with outstanding coffee, food, and atmosphere. Chez Luc's specializes in coffee, but they serve French cafe food as well. I really enjoyed their ham and cheese croissant. It was a very nice size and the croissant was flakey and full of flavor. Next time I'm going to go for the Croque Monsier or maybe go for the chocolate sandwich. Both sound fantastic to me. Oh and the best part? The pricing! I found it all to be very reasonable with costs less than I would have expected given the quality. As for the coffee, it was bliss at first sip. I went with a vanilla latte and I immediately told the friend I was with that this was the best latte I've had in a very long while. FOOD: - Croque Monsieur ($15): I wouldn't normally get this sandwich, but it looks soo good so I wanted to try it. I would prefer it without the dijonnaise. It was good, but not worth $15. - Avocado Toast ($7+$2 egg+$0.50 tomato): they should update their menu to state that the egg & tomatoes cost extra because it just says "optional", which makes it sound like it's included in the price. This was ok, but did taste like pre-made, store-bought avocado/Guac spread. - Chocolate Sandwich ($6): good, but messy. Not sure I would come back for this as I think I could just make this at home myself. I was told it would be about a 15 min wait for food, but it ended up being more like 30 min. SERVICE: slow, at least on a Sunday around noon. There's just the two guys working. They're doing their best, but I think it would be ideal if they hired someone to work the register/take orders on weekends. That way they can focus on making the food and drinks. I also didn't like that the one making food never changed his gloves. INSIDE/AMBIANCE: on theme with the French vibe. Four bar seats, six small round tables (four with booth seating on one side, two standalone), and some seating outside (covered) under a pergola type thing. LOCATION: behind/near loehmann's plaza. It has a decent sized parking lot, particularly on the Munroe St side. It looked a bit difficult to get in/out of the spaces near the entrance on the Fulton Ave side. Love that they are a new addition to the neighborhood and have another option besides temple for craft coffee in the area! French cafe and the interior matches that. It's vibey but also light and airy. When sitting at the tables with the benches there are lots of outlets which I can def appreciate. Their patio is an also really nice and can be relaxing if they aren't power-washing next door (which is obvi out of chez luc's control). The two owners are always really nice. The coffee is great actually had me realize the caffeine was kicking in. Their Chai is also so delicious! The chocolate sandwich was simple and a nice treat. As of 9/26/25: Hours are Tuesday-Sunday 7:30pm-3pm and kitchen hours 10am-2pm. *Kitchen opening at 10 seems a bit late so that's why I would knock down the rating a bit.* read more

Small little cafe tucked right off Monroe street. Ample parking and great design internally. Tried to go on a Sunday but closed the went on a Tuesday at 9am but kitchen didn't open till 10am. Went on a Thursday at 10am and finally got my Croque Monsieur. Solid sandwich but wish it came with a side as it was $15. Lattes are great, solid favors and well priced at $5. Overall they are off to a good start but I hope they expand their pastries as there want too many options. read more

Tried out this place for a nice little morning coffee. I loved the outside. It was gorgeous very open. The inside had plenty of seating and it gave off a really nice vibe. Staff was also super welcoming and a friendly. I had a cappuccino, which was amazing super light and fluffy The chocolate croissant was flaky crispy, and just the right balance of chocolate. I definitely enjoyed that way too much. The avocado toast also shined through. Hubby and I went here today, March 11th, 2026. For the first time. Cute little coffee shop. Great cup of coffee, really nice selection of pastries as well as savories on their menu. I love the seating arrangement inside, and then when you step out onto the patio, lots of picnic tables and tables with chairs and umbrellas, water bowls for your pet. I ordered the regular mocha, extra hot, no whipped cream, which was very, very good. My husband and I shared the Almond croissant, which had a very wonderful tasting custard inside of it and it was quite big. My friend ordered a lemon poppyseed muffin, my other friend ordered a scone, they both loved their selections. I like the wall seating, and plenty of window seating. I enjoyed the music in the background. This is a great place. The kitchen was not open yet as we were there so early, so I didn't get to try the Avocado toast, but hopefully I can next time. Whether you're visiting or a local and you're in the area, stop in and have a sweet or savory from the menu and try their coffee. You won't be disappointed, such a great little place for the neighborhood. They were quite busy. Reasonable prices, and nice friendly staff. And they have nice clean bathrooms. read more

what a relaxing spot. I came in worried about life and after an excellent light breakfast and amazing Americano I feel fine. The staff is very attentive and the garden has Jasmine flowers which smell so nice. I was alone but not really. the atmosphere is so calming that other patrons talk to you. Great French cafe!! Starting with the owners, it's run by two guys who are the only ones working! Very friendly welcoming us in and a cozy atmosphere. The beans are roasted in house and are some of the best I've had. I've purchased a second bag in the last week for $18/lb. The lattes themselves are perfect, I wish they made house syrups, but what they currently use still pairs well with their beans. The price point is amazing, a latte is $5 and addition of syrup is 0.50¢. I hope they keep this price point even as they get more popular, I think this place has so much potential! We were talking with one of the owners, and his middle name is Luc, so they named the place Chez Luc's, loosely meaning "At Luc's place". I love the originality this place offers! read more

I thought this place was okay. Staff was nice but didn't notice any hand-washing or gloves being used. It was busy for sure, but having a "summer salad" on a posted menu in January seems weird. Avocado toast was disappointing. Little avocado, LOTS of both black pepper and chili flakes was a bit much. Too much milk and not enough matcha in my latte. Low quality Chai. A guy just sitting behind the counter, on a stool, on his phone for a good while, looking hung over, didn't add to the ambiance. Our table was cleared after we ate, which was very attentive. I would go back to try their coffee, since it's the highlight. But I'd take it to go and have to get a pastry elsewhere since they have little or nothing to offer. read more

Pleasantly surprised! With the influx of coffee/tea shops in Sacramento, it's been hard finding a coffee shop that serves good coffee AND matcha. When entering the cafe, it immediately feels calm & warm. It's a smaller cafe but there was still a decent amount of tables to sit at. Although our food took awhile to arrive, the staff was super friendly & apologetic for the lag. I quite enjoyed the coffee & matcha. My husband like to call me a matcha snob since I really only like matcha from a few select cafes. But I had no complaints here! Highly recommend the caramel apple butter matcha. It has a complex rich flavor. My husband ordered the Jambon Beurre & I ordered the Croque Monsieur to-go. Hubby didn't like his sandwich - said it was too plain for his taste but I thought my sandwich was tasty!
