Was craving a grilled cheese sandwich and landed on this spot. Of course I had to get my morning brew as well. They have some cool, old school retro decor and a penny table! Love the car theme! Please note: street parking Drinks: Vietnamese nitro coffee -not your traditional Vietnamese coffee except for the condensed milk aspect. It had a light bubbly/airy texture and taste, compliments to the nitro brew. It was still pretty good but don't expect traditional bold taste of a Vietnamese coffee. Pistachio mocha -Mind blowing and delicious, definitely a different pistachio profile than what I've tried before. Sandwiches: Bay Area brisket -quite delicious and juicy which paired well with the stretchy cheese, don't forget to pull Squealer -great mix of flavors with the added crunch from the slaw -pulled pork was perfect Overall: great place to try a hardy grilled cheese or get a cup of joe!

Came in to have a coffee and study on Sunday morning. Vibes were warm and so was the yummy coffee. Super friendly staff, appreciated the welcoming nature you could feel walking in. It was very lively as customers came and went. I just plugged my headphones in and stayed probably longer than I should've (couple hours) but I was able to get some studying and homework done and no one gave me a hard time about it. thank you!!! I will be back because I need to try the food next.

So glad I found out about this spot because it is so tasty and feels like a hidden gem in Del Paso. The interior is decorated nicely and they have a good amount of seating inside, as well as seating outside in a courtyard area. I ordered a classic (build your own) sandwich with smokey cheddar and provolone and a side of their tomato soup. The sandwich and soup went perfect together and were a great lunch. The worker was very nice and answered questions I had, and also gave me some recommendations for next time. Will be back!

The BEST grilled cheese sandwich you will ever have! I have been coming to this coffee shop for years and have never been let down by their amazing sandwiches. My favorite is Da Philly, which is a Philly cheese steak turned into a grilled cheese sandwich. Drinks are delicious! I am a huge fan of their latte's, especially the O.D.Bee. They also have some seasonal/holiday drink menus by the register. This place is decorated with automobile racing paraphernalia from wall to wall, which makes it a unique place! Parking for this location can be a bit difficult at times as most of it is street parking.

Shift as a great coffee house! There is a huge selection of different kinds of coffees and the environment has very unique vibes to it. The 'Shift' name comes from their main theme of cards and racing. Inside the cafe are all sorts of racing inspired memorabilia and regalia. It's all very tastefully done and doesn't come off as too much or an eyesore. Besides coffee, Shift specializes in a huge variety of grilled cheese sandwiches. I've NEVER seen a selection of grilled cheese sandwiches like this before. There are so many to choose from with different and varied ingredients. You can select a breakfast version, a savory brunch style, and even sweeter grilled cheeses. On my visit to Shift I went with a group of four so we had the opportunity to try a sample of different sandwiches. If you like a mix of sweet and savory, the peanut butter, bacon, jelly one is surprisingly good. That one probably was the most eye opening one. The grilled cheeses sandwiches are filling. We ended up asking them to cut them in quarters so we could all try the different styles. They were totally ok with this request so we had a great time sampling everything. The coffees we got were very nice. My friends loved their tiramisu cold coffee that was a special that day. I'm not sure how well coffee and grilled cheese sandwiches pair together with each other, but Shift somehow makes it work. It's a very enjoyable eating experience!

I've been wanting to check this place out for awhile because I love grilled cheese. I was in the area so decided to stop in. The ambiance is fun with retro style and car theme. Good place to work and meet up with a friend! I got the capitol sunrise breakfast grilled cheese and it was ok, but not amazing. I also felt the same way about the peppermint latte which was a December special. The service was great, the gals working there were sweet & kind! Otherwise, I would say this place is just average, 3-star. I don't think I'd drive out of the way for this, but if I'm in the area again, I'd try another grilled cheese since there are many!

Came in for some coffee and grilled cheese! Their chai latte was amazing. Not too watered with milk and just enough chai. Their grilled cheese is solid, nothing too special. Got cheese and bacon in mine and I enjoyed! Love their car shop decor they have. It's giving vintage and they also provide wifi to do some work while you're there.

Cute car-themed cafe, nice outdoor seating, friendly quick service We stopped in for coffee, and were delighted with their non-dairy add-ins. The flat white was a tasty brew, and we liked the creamy oat-milk, and we also could have chosen almond milk. They have fun with the racing-theme, including Steve McQueen's famous "salute" from the Le Mans film. After a day walking around Old Sacramento by the river, we doubled back here for more, to refill for the drive back to SF! Spacious interior, several outdoor tables. Lot's of great-looking food options for next time.

Really cute cafe in car theme. My child was occupied with the cars and didn't bother us the whole time we were there. Loved the food, tastes homemade.

I was initially drawn to Shift Coffee House because of their grilled cheese sandwiches, but once I looked at the rest of the menu, I knew I had to try something a little different. I ended up ordering the PBB&J sandwich--yes, peanut butter, jelly, cheddar, mozzarella, and bacon. I had never seen anything like it before and wasn't sure what to expect... but WOW. It was a surprisingly delicious flavor combo that just worked! My friend got the Carrera sandwich with a side of tomato soup, which I also tried with my PBB&J--and let me tell you, that soup elevates everything. Super flavorful and cozy. On top of that, I had one of their sparkling lemonades with cold foam (recommended by the sweetest team member, Kaylee--hope I'm spelling that right!). She was so kind, helpful, and made the entire experience even better. I'd come back just for her customer service alone. Of course, I couldn't leave without dessert, and their s'mores cookie (chocolate chips, graham cracker, and gooey marshmallow) was soft, crunchy, and absolutely massive. One of the best cookies I've had in a while--worth the trip on its own. The space itself is super cute and tucked away in an alleyway-style strip. It has both indoor and outdoor seating, cozy couches, a charming vintage vibe, and plenty of space to work or relax. Great atmosphere, flavorful food, affordable prices, and lots of parking right in front. I'll definitely be back again soon. Again, huge thanks to Kaylee she made me feel so loved and welcomed!!

I enjoy picking up my TooGoodToGo orders here when I can! The people up front are friendly and conversational. I finally got time to order the Bay Area grilled cheese and it's wasn't bad! I'd say to get more bbq sauce even though there was some on it already. I like a saucer brisket grilled cheese ahaha. I'd come back to try another one for sure. They're priced alright ranging from $11-15. They also serve coffee and teas, but i just opted for some water. Inside is cute and Auto/ Aston Martin themed and seems like they always got a drag race on.

The bruschetta was perfectly crisp and the four different flavors made it a really dynamic appetizer. I was partial to the onion jam beautifully roasted and sweet with the right amount of salt. My wife loved how fresh the herbs were on the pesto topping. Everything was properly seasoned. The carbonara was good, but I'd probably try something else next time. They didn't skimp on the pecorino Romano! It made it a little thicker than I'd usually like, but that's only personal preference. The Ravioli was delicious, spicy with slight crunch of the pine nuts and the cheese combination was a delight. The service was friendly and fast! The place is cute, and lively. It was quickly packed with happy customers. I'd recommend a reservation. Now the cons... they were out of the octopus appetizer I really wanted. No big deal. They didn't have gnocchi on the menu. That made me sad. Either of those I can get over. What I can't get over is that it was SO HOT INSIDE!!! Like sooooooo hot!!!! It ruined my meal and I couldn't even eat desert because I needed to escape the suffocating heat inside. Also, my bad for wanting pasta in 100 degree weather so I won't let it make me take a star away when they deserve it. Maybe I won't go back until fall though.

The theme of today's meal was unfortunately S A L T…read more The Octopus appetizer was the best part of the meal. The yukon gold potatoes were amazingly crispy with a nice bite to the skin. The inside was pillow-y soft, and when mixed with the salsa verde was full of flavor with a fabulous punch of garlic. The salsa verde could be put over a nice flank steak and it would absolutely kill. That said, the octopus was a bit *too* crispy. I felt I had to really chew to get it down, and I just wanted a nice snappy skin for some textural juxtaposition. For my entree, I got the Bolognese which was definitely full of salt. The pasta was wonderfully thin and bouncy, but I feel the chef may have had an off-day. My friend and I had to down like multiple cups of water with our meal which made it hard to enjoy. Plus, the garlic bread felt like biting into a brick. The inside was quite fluffy and soft, but the crust was simply too crispy. I almost felt like my teeth were going to give way. Honestly, I can't in good faith recommend this place to my friends, so neither would I recommend it to you. (aside from the pasta classes)

I was honestly shook by how tender that steak was. It was seasoned well and paired nicely with the thai salad. The burger was also nicely done. We had ours with Gruyère cheese and avocado, beef cooked medium rare. 10/10. Our waitress was also super nice and attentive. She sat us outside in the shade and made us feel welcome. She even shared a couple other spots to try out while we're in Sacramento. I can tell that this place gets packed out.
