Iced "Uptown Luv" - white chocolate & rosé
    Donovan H.

Most that know me already know that I am a BIG coffee fan. This takes me to the Del Paso Heights neighborhood of Sacramento where I got to check out "Cafe Paso Coffee". This is actually my 2nd trip here since the first was a "Yelp Experience: Sacramento Sips Local with Cafe Paso Coffee". To those that remember, this is the spot where "Uptown Grounds" once stood for several years. It was renamed "Cafe Paso Coffee" in April 2024 and with it brings a new owner, Austin who runs this place while making all the delicious drinks and food. The location itself is on Del Paso Blvd and tucked in between Arden Way & El Camino Ave. One thing that I wanted to add is that this building is part of the Sacramento Youth Center. This is where students can come and study quietly in a large, spacious area. They offer a progressive and trendy list of options that include espressos, cold brews, seasonal lattes, and even a variety of fruity drinks. Since I came specifically for the coffee, I went with their "Uptown Luv" iced drink which was a mix of white chocolate, rosé, whole milk, and espresso. I will say that this place does not disappoint as they have all the popular coffee/espresso drinks. They also carry teas, a Bowl of Soul, lemonade drinks, and other various blended beverages. And if you are hungry, their food menu offers breakfast burritos, avocado toast, breakfast bagels, breakfast sandwiches, breakfast burgers, and much more. The interior space that this place accommodates is quite huge as it has very high ceilings, wall art above the menu, and generous seating. I feel that this place is very well executed and with generous parking nearby while being minutes away from Downtown Sacramento, this place is a win-win. During my visit which was the morning of Saturday 10/5/2024 at around 8:45am, I was the only customer in there. I will say this and that Austin took his time to explain their coffee roasting method, how they plan on adding even more unique seasonal menu items, and even expanding their food menu and hours. Keep in mind that they are closed on Sunday/Monday and only open Tuesday through Saturday from 8am-3pm. If your schedule allows, I definitely recommend checking out this amazing small business. From Yelp Sacramento and Cafe Paso Coffee for offering this, thank you! By the way, my drink was absolutely exceptional as it had the right about of espresso and milk. My rating, a unanimous five stars.

Such a vibey and fun coffee shop on Del Paso! It is ran by the Sac Youth Center and have a whole study room for students. I love their emphasis on community. It a great spot for working, having a meeting, or grabbing a quick drink. Their service is always quick and friendly. I've enjoyed their matcha specifically. For the fall season, they have pumpkin cold foam which they recommended to me. I paired it with the matcha and it was stunning. I wasn't expecting to like it as much as I did. It was so good!

I love a coffee shop. I especially love a coffee shop that is down the street from my house! I finally got to visit Cafe Paso and it did not disappoint! The decor and menu are minimal, but still packs a punch. We ordered the Breakfast Bagel with Bacon and the Nilla Crm. The sandwich was very good - we loved the softness of the bagel and the crispiness of the bacon. Staff were very friendly, personable and gave great recommendations! I will definitely be back to try the breakfast sandwich and burrito plus the other coffee options!

Cute little coffee shop and cafe. Pumpkin spice latte: A This was a seasonal drink and super delicious. Not over the top with the pumpkin spice so you can still taste the flavor of the coffee. Club.nini: B A pretty good sandwich, all of the filling tastes great and is seasoned well. I would have loved a bread different than sliced white bread though. The bacon adds so much flavor and there's a zesty sauce it's served with. Super friendly staff. Would come back if I was in the area!

This was a great find!! Looked up coffee shops after I dropped my dog off at the groomers and found this spot. Super friendly employees. Helped me make some choices and had a little convo while making everything. Ordered lattes. I can't remember the name of the flavor but it was white chocolate and caramel. The other was a seasonal flavor- chocolate peppermint. Both were delicious. Now we get to the really good part... those breakfast burritos! Tons of flavor and loaded with bacon. It comes with a delicious chipotle aioli which adds a yummy creaminess to the burrito. It doesn't come with cheese, which works for me but I added cheese to my husbands. They also have this side sauce that you gotta get! It was a chile lime sauce. I wasn't sure when I heard the flavor but OMG you need to drown your burrito in it. Just too good!! Will need to come back for some of the other food options. If they are anything like the burrito than you know it'll be bomb!

A hip and relaxed coffee shop on Del Paso Blvd run by the Sacramento Youth Center. This cafe has the best vibes with all original coffee drinks both creative and delicious whether seasonal or always in season. There's also an extensive menu of unique breakfast and lunch sandwiches made with fork to farm locally sources fresh ingredients made from scratch. Whether you get a latte or a cappuccino and a breakfast bagel to wake you up in the morning, or a freshly made lemonade to go with a turkey sandwich for a hearty and tasty lunch, you can't go wrong with any of the multiple choices of drinks and sandwiches here. There's also free Wi-Fi and comfy seating. The proceeds from this cafe also supports the Sacramento Youth Center so you'll be making an impact on the lives of young people with every drink and meal. Enjoy!

I enjoyed my visit to this place. Nice and clean inside . Minimal but pleasant. Austin was personable and you can tell he loved coffee . He made me a custom lavender iced latte and it was refreshing with a hint of floral notes. Small pastry section . I will return to try some other drinks.

Newly rebranded cute cafe. Friendly staff. We got the cortado, mango hibiscus lemonade and chai lavender coffee. All yum!

If you're looking for coffee and breakfast, I recommend that you order a Club.nini and Shak.n.spro from Cafe Paso, let me tell you why. As a first time customer at Cafe Paso Coffee I can happily say that my experience was very welcoming, I left satisfied with my experience and with their excellent customer service. When I walked in I was greeted with a big hello with a hand wave from Austin and a friendly smile from Nancy. Like I said, as I am first time customer I'm not familiar with their menu but Austin was really helpful and asked me a variety of questions to better assist my coffee drink. After figuring out what I liked he suggested I order a sweet Shak.N.Spro. To which my surprise, it indeed was sweet and just the right amount of Espresso to help get my morning started. 10/10!!! To go along with my drink I wanted to fuel up on a breakfast item so I ordered a Club.Nini. The girl at the counter named Nancy was really polite and pleasurable to talk to. She made me a hearty sandwich that included arugula, melting cheese, delicious turkey and bacon! She must of made this sandwich with lots of love because the sandwich was not just a sandwich, it was warm, fragrant, REALLY savory, delectable and all sorts of goodness!! I felt really fully after my breakfast that I believe she deserves praise and recognition for the effort she put into making me as a first time customer feel excited and happy for eating breakfast! 20/10!!! As I waited for my order I noticed that the coffee shop was pretty big and had lots of seating which was nice because now I know I can come with a large group of my friends next time. The parking was easy to get in and out of and the big window brought in lots of sunlight and warmth to my table. All in all, I'm really happy with my experience and appreciated the super friendly and welcoming environment from both workers. Date visited: 10/18/24

What a wonderful cafe! Manager Austin is very kindhearted, talented, and knowledgeable about the food and drinks offered here. Everything is made to order, handcrafted, with homemade syrups and cold foam toppings. I love it here! There is plenty of seating inside to work or study or just to chitchat. The food is very delicious and flavorful. The drinks were not too sweet and you can taste everything from the fresh blueberry purée in the lemonade to spices in the spiced chocolate cold foam cold brew to the classic chai Cruz cold brew! I can't wait to be back! Thank you Austin for making our experience so enjoyable, wonderful! Thank you for your welcoming kindness and we can't wait to be back!

I had the Cruz, cold brew with lavender syrup topped with a chai foam, paired with the soy Brekki.rito.

I had the Cruz, cold brew with lavender syrup topped with a chai foam, paired with the soy Brekki.rito. I'm not the biggest fan of eating vegan/vegetarian but this was all very good and appetizing. The crema was delicious. Everything was so flavorful. Customer service was stellar. My kiddo had the quinoa burger (really, really tastey) with an almond milk chai that really tasted homemade. Like, an actual authentic chai. I'll definitely come back!

I've been following Uptown Grounds on Instagram for a while but just haven't been able to find our way to this side of town. They have a nice sign outside on the window though so it was easy to locate and find street parking nearby. I always see a bunch of cool drinks on the Instagram page but the menu in person is pretty standard. They had a written menu with some specialty/seasonal items though. I had looked at their online ordering ahead of time and knew I wanted the banana muffin latte. When I tried to order it, both girls were super confused like they've never heard of it before. In efforts to make sure I wasn't crazy, I pulled it up on my phone and showed them and they found the banana syrup on their counter. The drink tasted great so I'm glad they were able to pull it off, and it was perfect creaminess and sweetness. We also ordered two breakfast sandwiches - the steak & egg sando on the specials board, and then a sausage breaky sando for myself. It took pretty long for our food to come out - almost 20 mins, even though I didn't see any other food orders around. My drink didn't come out until the food came out early and I wish I was able to have that while I waited. The sandwich itself was on an everything bagel and was toasted nicely. I liked the spicy aioli on it. The eggs seemed overcooked just from the color of it but otherwise the sandwich held up well and it was filling. The 4 stars is mainly going toward my drink, but the wait was just too long for what was supposed to be a quick coffee stop and I wasn't crazy about the service. Didn't feel welcomed at all. They seemed like they were new and couldn't figure things out (unfamiliar with the menu, scanned our card twice). When I had looked over at the counter checking for my drink, one of them was just glaring or staring at me, it was the weirdest thing.

If you're looking for a quiet place to have conversation and coffee Cafe Paso is for you. The coffee was good we had the special maple latte and vanilla latte. If you don't like your coffee too sweet don't order the maple or go easy on the pumps of syrup. You may also want to ask for extra hot. The coffee was luke warm. We ordered breakfast sandwiches. They were good nice and hot but a little on the salty side. I recommend you try them for yourself.

They had some unique syrups, such as bourbon caramel and praline. The syrups were on the more subtle side, which some people prefer. I am not one of those people, but it was a good latte for a breakfast/ brunch spot. I wish there was more ice tho.  The skillet cornbread with sharp cheddar, creamed corn & garlic, honey butter & house made seasonal jam on the side was a great starter dish. I enjoyed the garlic and cheese. The temperature/ toastiness of this was yummy.  We couldn't decide between the cornbread and the sticky bun, so the only obvious solution was to order both. The topping of the sticky bun was delicious. It was almost pecan pie adjacent.

As someone who grew up enjoying Southern comfort food, I can honestly say these are some of the best beignets you'll find in the Sacramento area. They're huge, light, fluffy, served warm, and covered in the perfect amount of powdered sugar. They're always fresh, and every bite reminds me why I keep coming back. My daughter absolutely loves them too! She goes back and forth between these and Huckleberry's, but for me, Iron Horse Tavern takes the win. This time we ordered through DoorDash, along with a side of chicken, a bag of fries, and--if you know, you know--TWO sides of their amazing Sriracha cream cheese. Trust me... one isn't enough! Food: Outstanding. The beignets were the highlight, but everything was fresh, flavorful, and generously portioned. It's nice finding a restaurant that consistently delivers quality whether you're dining in or ordering takeout. Service: Everything arrived perfectly packaged, neatly organized, and exactly as ordered. Nothing was forgotten, nothing spilled, and I even loved the thoughtful touch of the bag being labeled with my name. Little details like that make a difference. Ambiance: I've dined inside several times, and Iron Horse Tavern has one of my favorite atmospheres in Sacramento. Located in the historic R Street District, the restaurant blends modern industrial style with warm, inviting décor that pays tribute to the area's railroad history. Whether you're stopping in for brunch, dinner, or cocktails, it's a place that's lively without feeling overwhelming. If you've never tried the beignets here, you're missing out. Sacramento doesn't have many places serving authentic-style beignets, and Iron Horse Tavern has definitely earned a spot at the top of my list. I'll absolutely be back... probably sooner than I should!
