So growing up I remember whenever we would go to a local fast food joint and get a breakfast sandwich-it was always a good experience. Funny thing is that years later when I had kids, none of them really loved breakfast sandwiches, so there was a long window of time when I just didn't eat them very much. Now of course they are adults and their palates have finally developed and they love breakfast sandwiches as much as I do, though now they prefer the fancy ones vs the cheap ones I grew up on. That brings us to Camellia Coffee Roasters. Just about every foodie person I respect or ranking article I came across on the subject always ranked this shop as a top 2 or 3 spot for breakfast sandwiches in the Sacramento-area.So you know I had to try em out. They are located in the historic R street district of Sacramento. They have their own parking lot, so parking is a breeze. Walking up to the shop they have both inside and outside tables for customers to enjoy their coffee and food. Both times I went to this shop there was a pretty good line to place an order and the line doesn't move too quickly but it's a pleasant environment-so it's not too bad to deal with. They do offer coffee and specialty drinks at their location-both times I ordered a hot mocha($7.00) Breakfast sandwiches here usually run around $13.50 and with that you get one item,either bacon, sausage or veggie and for $2.00 each you can add on additional items. So yes these sandwiches can get pretty pricey pretty fast. One of my visits, I also got a toasted everything bagel with cream cheese.($5.00) Here are some of the breakfast sandwiches we've tried: -a breakfast sandwich with bacon-sausage-veggie -a breakfast sandwich with bacon and veggie -a breakfast sandwich with bacon and chili verde pork Let's talk about em. First off the coffee is pretty good-solid mocha-had it twice and wouldn't hesitate to have it a third time-I liked it. My favorite breakfast sandwich is kind of obvious-the one with bacon-sausage and veggie.It truly was just made so perfect, the bread was so soft and pillowy with a great chew.The eggs were made so well, great texture, great flavor and it was the perfect amount where it didn't overwhelm the sandwich yet filled you up where you felt you were having a decent meal.The bacon,sausage, veggie combo might be too much for some but as a bonafide foodie who lives for awesome culinary experiences-this was the right combo-every bite was great and it was a bummer when it was gone. My second favorite was just the bacon and veggie-a lot of the same reasons,minus the extra benefit from the sausage, but still a truly standout sandwich. Here's the thing, the chili verde pork version was a weekend special and I mean no disrespect having it third ranked because it was an incredible dish, if those other two didn't exist, I would be screaming from the mountain tops telling others how great this was, but the other versions exist so this one's third. Overall, Camellias is a very special place serving a very special dish and we are lucky that a place like this exists in our city and I can say without a doubt that this is my favorite breakfast sandwich shop in Sacramento at this time.
Cozy spot with delicious coffee. Unfortunately I wasn't hungry but I really wanted to try their sandwiches which list a Cholula aioli - sounds interesting. The cortado was strong and tasty but tasted maybe slightly burnt. (As it intentional?). The basic coffee brew was a bit citrusy and served hot but not too hot - so if that's your vibe cool... if not ask for it to be hotter. Nice options to sit inside in the AC or find a spot on the patio. On a Saturday it was nice and quiet and cozy.

They started out as a wholesale coffee roaster in Sacramento before opening their own café. I tried their signature Horchata Cold Brew and really enjoyed it. The sweetness was just right and not overpowering, making it a great drink for a hot summer day. They're also known for their breakfast sandwiches. The eggs were super fluffy and cooked perfectly. The café has high ceilings, good airflow, and a beautiful mural on the wall. The vibe is modern with an industrial feel. Parking is easy with free street parking nearby. A fun bonus: they have a claw machine where you can try your luck and win a coffee or breakfast sandwich. Hours: 7 AM-4 PM daily.
I didn't expect much. My first time here. I was just hungry and wanted a breakfast sandwich. The sandwich was delicious!! You place your order at the counter and they give you a number. They will bring your order out to you. The place does get busy at times. They have plenty of seating inside and outside. The place is very spacious. I ordered a breakfast egg sandwich with bacon and added some veggies. They cook the veggies in with the egg. Almost like an omelette/scramble style. The sandwich was very well presented. Wrapped in paper and in a little bag, very neat. It was hot and the bun was soft and toasted. The egg was not over cooked, where the egg can be dry. It was to the right temp where the egg was a little soft scrambled. The sandwich tasted really good and filling. I love that they give you the option to add veggies. I did not order anything to drink. Maybe I will try their drinks at another time. Parking is street parking. Downtown street parking can be a little challenging at times.

I love Camellia! This continues to be one of my favorite coffee places in Midown, especially their horchata cold brew and breakfast sandwich. If you come during the weekend though, come early cause there's a line and they don't do online orders on weekends.
Wanted something simple and quick. Looked at Yelp and found Camellia. This place is the bomb. I love it. It's small and cozy. Food is wonderful and staff are friendly. I love the horchata latte. And their special sandwich, shredded pork & eggs. So yummy. Give this place a try. You won't regret it.
Super popular breakfast and coffee spot in downtown Sacramento. Arrived on a Sunday morning at 10 and it was completely packed. Every table is full and there is a line of 10-15 groups snaking around the restaurant. The vibes are immaculate though, a dusty pink theme throughout with consistent cartoonish drawings on their cups, coffee beans, and signage. So many people, dogs, and babies. I do think this is a millennial and up age group, not many younger folks. They do have quite a bit of staff working hard behind the counter. On a cold gloomy day, this place is extremely cozy with the large bright windows. There is also seating outside! The horchata cold brew really does taste like cereal milk in the best way. The coffee flavor is actually very mild, but that may be a symptom of oat milk flavor taking over. Frequently referred to as the best breakfast sandwich in Sacramento, this place had my standards sky-high. The breakfast sausage and egg was definitely unique - the textures were all fluffy and soft, the brioche bun and folded egg omelette. The cheese was light but flavorful and the sauce balanced everything out nicely. I would say this is a solid breakfast sandwich, more untraditional, and definitely a must try if you're interested. We also ordered a salmon and lox everything bagel sandwich that was also delicious! I would have loved a bit more smoked salmon for balance but the scallion dill cream cheese was super flavorful! I would say both sandwiches were on the milder side flavor-wise but still extremely good!
Fucking Amazing!!! we are visiting from out of town. I came through here with my daughter, my son-in-law, my wife, and we all enjoyed.
Came here to pick up some food like always although I had to use the bathroom and when I went in some had mess up the toilet if you know what I mean. There also a bunch of dolls up on the display. I know that once you own your own cafe you may decorate as one pleases although it's giving a little bit of clutter. Or maybe it's just me Mybad. The appeal to a place was edgy and trendy at first. It's in a located in an old industrial area. Anyhow the food is always fire and the customer service makes up for the other stuff I suppose.
I came to Camellia on a Tuesday afternoon and even then it was still packed with people. The inside of shop is very cute and spacious. It's a perfect spot to study or do some work (which I was doing). They have a little claw machine filled with coffee cups that have certain awards. They also carry their own beans near the line to order. I got my usual vanilla latter with oat milk and while the vanilla syrup was not my favorite their coffee itself packed a really good punch. It was light and made you feel like you can take on the day. I was able to get the work I needed done with it. They also had food options that looked very good. I would definitely come back here again to try some of their other drinks as well as their food.
Love their bagel breakfast sandwiches and iced coffees. Plenty of street parking. Order, pay, they call you when drinks are ready to be picked up and will deliver food to your table if dining in. Love all the plants.
First time here. The horchata coffee with oat milk is delish!! I had the breakfast sandwich with a bagel. It was tasty as well. It was busy today on a Sunday morning. The service was quick and the restaurant was clean. I'll definitely be back again.

i stopped by during my sacramento trip & really enjoyed my visit. this location has a handful of free parking spots right outside, which is a blessing in sacramento! there was a line when i arrived, but it moved pretty quickly, & there was plenty of seating both indoors & outdoors. i ordered the horchata cold brew. if you like your coffee on the sweeter side, i'd recommend! it tasted like fresh horchata & wasn't super coffee-forward. i also got the sausage breakfast sandwich, which was fresh, flavorful, & tasty. the cashier was kind & helped me decide what to order. the sandwich took a little while to come out, but i appreciated that it was made fresh to order. the atmosphere was also really cute & inviting. perfect spot for a coffee/breakfast date! read more

Sunday morning at Camellia for a little treat. There was plenty of parking around. We were greeted immediately when we walked in. After looking over the menu we ordered 2 breakfast egg sandwiches and an Iced Lavender Latte. There was plenty of seating both inside and outside. We decided to stay inside. The line stayed busy the whole time we were there. My Lavender Latte was yummy. The lavender was perfect. Our breakfast sandwiches were tasty and love the little chalupa packets. The perfect touch! Camellia is popular for a reason! It can get pretty crowded, and parking can be a little hard to find, but after circling around a few times, a spot usually opens up! I'm always here catching up with my friends. Their breakfast sandwiches are so good, and I love their bagels too! I usually get their avocado bagel or sausage sandwich, and they've always been a hit. My friend recommended their horchata cold brew, and I'd give it a solid 7/10! Next time I visit, I definitely want to try their Hook Up Bagel since I'm a big smoked salmon fan! The interior is also super cute, especially with all the pink tiles, and they have more seating now too! read more

Starting off the with location, parking can be hard to find. While the inside of the shop is spacious, it's difficult to get a seat during peak hours/days (excepted). The place is clean and aesthetically pleasing. Now for food and drinks. I really have enjoyed their matcha lattes. Not overly sweet or bitter. It's balanced. Haven't tried any other beverages yet but will be back to do so. As for their breakfast sandwich, it's really good. The eggs and sausage were cooked well, however the bread to protein ratio can be a bit better in my opinion. read more

Stopped by around noon and was pleasantly surprised by the expansion! Perfect for this afternoon since it was pretty cold and drizzly. Also LOVE that they added the kiosk ordering option. It's right by the door and only for drinks so this should also help speed up the line. Ordered some americanos and decided to order the new shredded pork sandwich. I think the guy rang us up incorrectly because it said it was $10.25 on the sign but he rang it up as a normal sandwich with the pork as the meat so it was $11 instead. I noticed too late but make sure to check unfortunately. Americanos were excellent and pipping hot like always. I would stick to the original sandwich- although the salsa verde pork is delicious there's just a little too much going on. Why mess with a classic? Love the expansion and that it's decorated for the holidays right now! Definitely recommend a visit. read more
This place is such a vibe. I ordered a white mocha with heavy cream and cinnamon on top and it was so good, warm, cozy, and perfectly sweet. Literally comforting in a cup. The baristas were super kind. I didn't hear my name the first time and one of them actually brought my drink over to me, which I really appreciated. Little things like that matter. It's also a great spot to study. There's plenty of seating both inside and outside, and a few outlets available, which is clutch. Overall, really welcoming atmosphere and delicious drinks. Camellia is one of our favorite coffee shops in Sacramento. It's always packed but the breakfast sandwich and lattes make it so worth it. The sandwich reminds me a lot of what you'd get in Los Angeles, and the coffee perfectly balances it out. It also has a patio which is perfect for any dog parents! read more
Wow. This place exceeded all of my expectations! It's a cute brick building, with rustic vibes. The lighting inside is warm, not too dim, very decked out with decorations, they even have a Christmas tree too! Very spacious, plenty of seating, tables, and booths! There's mellow music playing, and overall quiet. It's the perfect place to study, meet up with friends, or to simply grab a pick-me-up for the day. The service is phenomenal! The baristas work so efficiently and with such grace. I came around 9:30am, it was already filled with happy customers enjoying themselves. They are super attentive and kind, answering questions I had with insight and a smile. I waited about 7-10 minutes for my two drinks and a breakfast sandwich. Everything is so fresh and aesthetic! My breakfast sandwich was piping hot, cheese oozing out of it and the buns toasty. It was very filling and so delicious!! The way they cook the omelet in the sandwich is amazing! The scallions and their cholula aioli sauce add the perfect kick that intrigues your tastebuds and pulls you in for another bite! I would come back for the sandwich alone, wow! They offer sandwiches with options of sausage, bacon, or veggie. This is a must-try!! I also tried their Iced Mocha upon the barista's recommendation. Currently, they offer two seasonal syrups the Cozy Spice and Peppermint syrup. I added peppermint to my mocha and it was good, their mocha sauce is so rich in flavor. I will say my drink was very sweet, I'd probably add an additional shot of espresso next time to get the flavor and balance the sweetness. Other than that, no complaints! Overall, wonderful experience!! They also sell other pastries, coffee beans, merchandise, and even house made jam!! Quick and friendly service, spacious, plenty of room to sit, delicious fresh food and drinks. It does get busy, by 10am they had a filled room of customers and long line. You can order online ahead to avoid waiting in line. Worth the visit, so evident by their regulars and this review. read more
Camellia Coffee Roasters is an excellent cafe to satisfy your breakfast or coffee needs. Their menu isn't huge (especially for food), but the food they serve up is divine! I came for some breakfast today with a good friend of mine and we tried their breakfast sandwiches. I had mine with sausage and bacon while she had the bacon and avocado. These breakfast sandwiches were out of this world good! They came out piping hot and when we opened them up there was an amazing cheese pull with steam rising out. Oh it was magnificent! And the food tasted even better than it looked. The bread was very fresh with a delicate mid section. The crust was just right. The sandwiches were very easy to eat and satisfied us - especially their taste! I had heard of the horchata cold brew before coming and I really wanted to give that one a try. I have to say that it really lived up to my expectations - actually exceeded them! The coffee was perfect. It was smooth and creamy with just the right sweetness. My only wish was that the cup sizes were larger so that I could have more! This is a drink that I would recommend to anyone. In terms of atmosphere, the cafe has a beautiful brick wall on the inside with a comfortable vibe. It has a large enough space to fit a good sized amount of people wanting to hang out with their drinks. Service was fast and we didn't have to wait long for our order at all. Quite a bit of people were in line as this cafe is pretty popular here in town, but we got everything we needed in a timely manner. read more
With so many coffee shops around Sacramento, how do you know which one to choose? Well, you go on Yelp and find the closest one to you at the time haha. And Camellia Coffee was the winner that day. As usual for downtown, parking was a pain! But I had time so I decided to keep driving around until I found a parking spot just right haha. The coffee place looks fun. There was plenty of seating inside and out. You can order from a kiosk or from the barista. Since it was my first time, I wanted to ask the barista what was popular. She recommended the Horchata Cold Brew. Glad she recommended it, because it was pretty good, and something different. When I go to a new spot, I usually like trying something that's unique to them, and this one was. So don't hesitate to stop by this place for a drink. Oh a side note, if you have a wheel chair, you have to use this wheel chair elevator since there is no ramp near their entrance. read more
This brown sugar agave latte hit the spot and provided me the caffeine boost i needed. The latte was served at the appropriate temperature and was smooth. The barista was very cool and gave exceptional service. The ambiance had a hip warehouse vibe and had a large amount of seating. Ali, the breakfast sandwiches were great. I ordered the bacon and sausage, both were great. Also, the salmon bagel with dill cream cheese was solid. Great place to meet friends. My friend and I visited to have a study session and fuel up on some breakfast and coffee. I got the bacon breakfast sandwich and a brown sugar latte, she got a veggie breakfast sandwich and horchata cold brew. My sandwich was pretty good but I do feel like it's overhyped. My latte was also just ok nothing to write home about. I tried my friend's horchata cold brew and it was super delicious! Not too sweet and the horchata notes reallt came through. This coffee shop is very cute and bright with lots of seating. Inside there's seating on tiled benches and chairs, outside there is seating in wooden benches covered under the patio roof. Great place to sit at if the weather is nice out! The inside is clean, cutely decorated, and has a modern aesthetic but not minimalist. When it's not busy it's very chill and would be a great place to do homework or work. This place does get very busy! The staff are nice, mostly when it's not busy understandably, I've been here a couple times and haven't had a bad interaction. Recently I came and got their breakfast sandwich with sausage and an iced matcha with oat milk and I added honey. The sandwich was super tasty, the eggs were cooked perfectly and was very filling. I loved the cheese and scallions they added to it. The matcha was unfortunately disappointing. I had gotten it once before and I liked it but this recent time it had a watered down flavor and was not sweet at all despite the barista telling me the matcha it already sweetened and asking if I was sure I wanted to add honey to it. I'd come back to try a coffee or tea drink instead. The prices seem standard for other coffee shops/cafes. read more

Let me start off with the positives. The cafe itself is nice a spacious and the vibe was nice. Not too loud of music playing and majority of people were just working on their computers. The person who brought out my breakfast was super super sweet and friendly, didn't get her name but was short Asian with beautiful tattoos and was wearing a black beanie. Upon entering I wasn't greeted, just got stared at by the person at the register and one of the guys behind her. She was taking an order so understandable and the other two guys were doing a task of some sorts. When I got to the register the cashier seemed very uninterested and seemed like she didn't want to be there. I asked her about the limited time holiday flavor and her response is "it's good" and her tone seemed kind of annoyed. Overall the interaction made me feel like I was bothering her and not once did she smile or try to make me feel welcomed what's so ever. I believe her name was Dana for that's what the ticket on my cup said. The guy who brought out my drink just plopped it out on my table and walked away, no smile, no thank you, nothing. Coffee, not good. It tasted watery. As though the oat milk wasn't shaken maybe. The coffee didn't taste like it pulled properly. The sandwich had soooooo much pepper on the egg and the bun was so so dry. Very disappointed considering the entire order cost 18$ + tip. I didn't say anything or ask for a remake because of energy and vibe given off by the team. I ended up going to temple coffee instead to grab a different drink and skipped on the breakfast portion. I've been to camellia's before they had this new spot so I was honestly very excited to return because I remember how friendly the team was and how amazing the coffee/breakfast was. Unfortunately it doesn't seem like the same standard is being held in this new location and don't think I'd return based on quality of service, drink, and food. read more
Took a visit to try a new coffee place here at Camellia Coffee Roasters after my doctor's appointment and this place caught me by surprise. Upon arrival, the street was very lively on a Thursday afternoon. There's so much seating inside, for a place that looked a little busy I didn't have to worry about where I was gonna sit. The aesthetic here is really nice. To me it screams, "all are welcome," because they even have doggy bowls if you bring a pup along which you don't really see a lot of coffee shops do. I ordered a cold brew and was feeling a little hungry since I skipped breakfast before my appointment and the kind worker recommended I get the Bacon Sandwich which was very delicious and came out quick. The cold brew was very smooth and tasted sort of tart&fruity to me. Aesthetic, food, & service was a 10/10 for me and I'd definitely be a returning customer. Definitely one of the better coffee shops here in Sacramento in my opinion. read more
The breakfast sandwich at Camellia Coffee Roasters... Yeahhhh... that's all you really need to know. I stopped by in the morning to get some work done, and it's busy for a reason... Their breakfast sandwiches are incredible. Each one is made with a two-egg omelette layered with cheese, scallions, and cholula aioli, all on a soft brioche bun. You can add bacon or sausage, or go with a veggie version. I opted for the sausage and have zero regrets. You can definitely tell that each order is made fresh because the moment you bite into it, you get that gooey cheese pull from the omelette. I personally love adding a dash of hot sauce for that extra kick, and the ones they provide are just fine. For coffee, I kept it classic with an iced vanilla latte. Iced drinks come in 16oz only, which ended up being the perfect size. The coffee wasn't mind-blowing, but still solid. The space itself is housed in a charming brick building with a clean, open interior and plenty of seating (though it fills up fast). At peak hours, it can feel a little cramped/tight since some tables and chairs are packed in close together each other. I ended up sitting outside at one of the four picnic tables. This was a great call because there was plenty of room, great weather, and a view of the murals lining R Street. The only downside to this place if you're planning to work or study on your laptop is that there aren't many outlets if any at all, so make sure to come with your devices fully charged if you plan to stay a while! All in all, Camellia is 100% worth the hype, ESPECIALLY for that breakfast sandwich. read more
The iced mocha is good not too sweet. I'm not even a mocha person. Nice sized place, love the decor, music and vibe, staff is friendly. Egg cheese bacon sandwich is ok, love green onions in it, fan of the everything bagel add avocado. Would come back. read more
The food here was absolutely amazing, my partner and I loved the chili verde breakfast sandwich (which they only have on the weekend) and the hooked up bagel! Everything was so incredibly fresh and the chili verde was so tender. They really pay close attention to detail from the wonderful service when we got to the register, the cute coffee shop ambience and cozy vibe, all the way to the cute little cups they use for their cold and hot beverages! The line was super long but it went by so quick and we got our food not even 10 min after we ordered. I absolutely loved my latte and I tried a sip of the horchata cold brew too which was really tasty. There menu was super reasonably priced and everything we got was well worth the price. The coffee is tasty and consistently good. I've never had a burned cup of coffee all the times I've been here. Their bagels are high quality, toasted perfectly ...make sure to get it with scallion cream cheese. The atmosphere is loud but in a fun, social gathering kind of way. And don't forget to play their $1 claw machine, I won a free bag of coffee beans once! read more
Such a lovely café! Even though the latte and cappuccino were fairly standard, the bacon and sausage sandwiches were absolutely fantastic -- easily my favorite part of the visit. The Danish was fine but not a standout. I liked that they sell their own roasted coffee beans too, so you can bring some home. The shop is big, airy, and offers plenty of seating, both inside and outside. Plus, they do babyccinos, which is super cute if you have kids. It gets busy quickly, so plan ahead -- and don't worry about parking because they have both street and private spaces. Definitely recommend stopping by for a tasty sandwich and a comfy hangout! read more
