Kicking off my summer vacation, which usually means trying several new restaurants and coffee shops that I have been saving for months, I started with Cora Coffee. I had come downtown to take my dogs for a walk and decided to stop in. I managed to grab a parking spot on the street directly out front but I could see how parking might be tricky so it might be best to visit this coffee shop by foot. Once inside, the space is very open and modern with tons of beautiful house plants. I was so envious of their house plants that I actually asked the barista about who takes care of them. But house plants aside, I asked for their recommendation for a beverage and a possible treat. The barista suggested the cardamom rose latte, which I got iced with oat milk. To accompany my latte, I ordered a white chocolate raspberry scone - warmed up. The latte was the perfect balance of flavor without being overpowering or too sweet. The white chocolate raspberry scone was buttery and tender. All in all, this was a great coffee shop and if you find yourself downtown in the area, I would highly recommend it. read more

We love this place except for the street parking if you can find some. My wife's favorite is their almond milk cardamom rose latte. She's had it twice the past times we have visited recently. My favorite is their Americano & blueberry scone. At least it's not dry & hard. They were setting up for an event later in the evening; 200 people for a prom event! Didn't know they had the space! Whoa. We had been here before when pastrycat had done her pastries popup but we are seeing she has opened her own brick & mortar! So cool. Congrats to her! First time trying this place with my sibling as she told me that it's delicious. So I gave it a go and since Matcha is my favorite, I've tried the double Matcha and I'm lost for words about how delicious it is. So creamy that I don't want to finish it. The biscuit is so good and love the butter. The service was amazing. The woman who attended was really sweet. The place is so nice and cozy for one to relax and enjoy the treats. A cute quick coffee stop on bottom floor of a multi business building. I got a matcha and was craving something sweet so got the brownie which was a more dense fudge kind of brownie not overly sweet which i loved. There was a sprinkle of salt on top to balance the sweetness. I love that they decorated the place with old vis and acrually had an old fashion TV was playing the VHS! I havent seen that since middle school. The matcha here was good. Standard matcha latte. A nice charm away from the recent cream top or cold foam trend. I love this place! Really great vibe, friendly and efficient staff, good coffee, everything you could want in a coffee shop really. The only reason I rated 4 stars instead of 5 is the blueberry scone. It looks so good! But sadly, it is very bad. it tastes like a savory biscuit (a slightly underseasoned one at that) that has had a couple blueberries and a bit of sugar plopped on top; the interior is totally lacking in blueberries, sweetness, or the tenderness you want from a blueberry scone. This is all the more frustrating because it looks so good and (pleasant surprise) is served warm, so you're really anticipating a great scone and then...well...nope. Anyway, go there, have a great time, have a good coffee, tip your baristas well because they deserve it. Just don't get the blueberry scone. read more

Cora Coffee was in a convenient spot from the Sheraton. The service was very pleasant as I actually didn't want coffee on one of my visits. . I wanted a refreshing tea/lemonade. It had flavors of cardomom and rose. The name is escaping me!!! Anyways, I didn't see it on the menu but it was black tea and lemonade with the above flavors. I want to say it was called a rose. The day prior I also had their chocolate chip cookie. I've never had one like this. I liked it and it's definitely a top five fave of CC cookies. It had pockets of air and melty chocolate pockets along with the usual chocolate chips. Almost shaped like a biscuit. I had a vanilla latte and I have to say it was a bit lacking in coffee flavor. Second day I had the CC scone. Highly recommend either of them. There is space to sit but I was always on the go. Slow down a minute and take a peek. They are worthy. read more

I walked in and no one was at the counter or making drinks... but there was a full bowl of melting chocolate and a whisk sitting by the cash register....i could have stolen the cash register or gone behind and made my own drink. I would have waited but the chocolate making by where money should be exchanged is unsanitary. Edit: Weird cocky response from owner tells me all I need to know. I give this business a year before they're shut down or crying on social media about how no one supports small businesses anymore. Tip, go to chocolate fish, they just opened less than 700 feet away and they actually are receptive to feedback and very inclusive and diverse. Or even the Starbucks at the convention center. The underlying racism from small businesses in Sacramento is so played out at this point. But for the record - I could make my own drink, this Sacramento coffee world is small. This place is a good working area. There are meeting rooms that you can reserve at a fee and there is a full restaurant behind the coffee shop as well as an office on the second floor, but I did not know how to access it As for the coffee itself there are a lot of unique flavors. I wish I could try all of them. The barista was very nice, although she was working alone and had to handle all orders and making of the coffee I tried the cardamom rose cappuccino. It was a very light flavor and a bit grainy, but hopefully other ones are better. read more

The pastries are soooo good here! Still has amazing bagels, you must try if you come here! I also got the crunchy matcha sesame cookie and it was delicious! The sesame didn't overpower the other flavors and it wasn't like crazy sweet. For my drink I got the chai latte this time around. Not as spicy as other chai I have had but was still aromatic and tasted good. Got it with oat milk too and it was very smooth. Still need to try out the coworking space here. Lots of seating and great lighting for those who like darker spaces with less fluorescents. Parking is street parking and since it's close to the capital can be hard to find in peak hours. Quite possibly the best almond latte in all of Sac. The cookies look AMAZING but I'm off the sugar so opted for the yogurt parfait(delicious) They also serve Matcha from the excellent purveyor of matcha called Matchaful. Plenty of seating and a big cozy sofa area. Nice baristas. Parking can be a little tricky, but it's downtown so a lot of folks are coming from the hotels by foot. As someone who is very serious about my coffee and MATCHA, it's worth the effort to find parking. There's also a public lot close by. Highly recommend! read more

On a 10 point scale, I would give Cora an 8.5 out of 10. The inside was cute, it was pretty quiet and the seats were very comfortable. Perfect for some who wants to study, or get some work done. The matcha was good, a bit sweet. I ordered the strawberry matcha and my friend order the Ube matcha. I would order theirs next time! The hours are GREAT. I liked it because most coffee shops close early, and as a student it is hard to make it to thse shops before their close, but this one has late hours! The service was fantastic, the barista was very kind and recommended a few drinks to try. The ONLY reason this does not get a 10/10 is because the loaction was a bit iffy. It is in center of downtown and there is a lot of unhoused people, so, not much they can do about that. Other than that it was definitely worth it. Will be visiting again! read more

I've only been here once but it was a pleasant experience! The coffee shop is by the capital slightly tucked away inside big building but their cute sign outside welcomes you in. The inside is spacious and has lots of light from the big windows with a decent amount of seating if you wanted to sit and sip or even work on stuff at the tables. My friends and I all got iced strawberry matchas and they were tasty! I like that the strawberry flavor wasn't super intense but complimented the matcha. I'm on the hunt for my go to matcha place and I'm going to have to come back to try their other variations and a regular matcha. Very cute retro decor going on too. Super accessible location if you are staying downtown. The coffee shop has a couple of tables where you can do some work if needed! They also have some meeting rooms that can be booked via QR code. I stopped by for a quick midday snack. I tried the strawberry matcha and a cookie. The strawberry matcha was very good! They hand whisk the matcha and it was very smooth and not too sweet. The cookie was delicious! Perfect combination of chewy center with crispy edges (my favorite). It paired well with the strawberry matcha. I wish I stayed longer so I could try some of their other drinks, but I was only in town for a day. I'll definitely come back for the matcha if I return in the future! read more

Stopped in at Cora Coffee for the first time, after a weekend lunch on a nice Winter afternoon. Located on 12th and J, Cora Coffee has a modern yet elegant vibe to it's interior. And shares a connection to an office location, and has a large meeting room in the main lobby of the Coffee spot. Cora appears to have gone over a nice interior rebrand in the past few years. Where once was a colorful refrigerator alphabet magnet look, is now replaced with Cora's shop name in a beautiful bronze in all caps. And their smiley face logo of a gir, which I later learned represents the owner daughter. Who the shop is actually named after. A Definitely abnice upgrade that gives a more established look inside, to go along with the modern decor. When you first walk in and your view is at the main counter, you immediately notice the "vintage" video display behind the baristas area. Where there's a small anaolog TV, that was playing one of a dozen classic movies on VHS; a visual memory of the 80s and 90s. To the left of the main counter is Cora's pastry display. Once at the main counter, the Barista happily greeted us and asked how our day was going. We looked over the menu briefly and ordered a Vanilla Matcha Latte and a Vanilla Latte. Once our coffees were ready, my girlfriend and I enjoyed them at a small table by Cora's large window overlooking the main street. Overall: Nice coffee shop, beautiful decor, and good drinks. read more

Wanted to try a different cafe in the area but they were closed so I figured I'd give Cora Coffee a try. The cashier was very friendly. The chocolate chip cookies were fresh with a crisp edge and a delectable softness in the middle. I also ordered an iced dirty matcha latte with brown sugar syrup. I think the brown sugar syrup might've been left off because the drink was not sweet at all and I had to add a lot of my own simple syrup but at least the cafe has the option of a self serve simple syrup. I came on a weekday early evening. There were only two others at Cora. The place has a high ceiling with exposed pipes that are sprayed with knockdown texture. The seating is spaced and surprisingly even the little stools are comfy. I had the matcha lemonade adding strawberry which is an extra dollar. It came without the strawberry at first but the nice man fixed it. The drink was very very good. Adding the strawberry is a good move. I don't usually like strong matcha taste. This didn't have that. The barista was friendly and helpful. I got their seasonal yam latte after asking for a fall drink, and was warned that it wasn't as sweet as a pumpkin spice latte. I would say it was extremely sweet and that warning was not needed. I would actually prefer less sweetness. I also got their huge chocolate chip cookie, which was really rich. I am a HUGEEE matcha fan and recently I saw this place and though I'd test it out. I'm pretty selective when it comes to matcha because I can taste the quality but when I tell u I was this place blew me away. It's not often you find hand whisked matcha anymore and just the fact they took the effort was very pleasing. Now the drink, it was fantastic it wasn't watered down at all and the sweetness was perfect. Cora coffee was so good! I was nearby at a conference last week and needed and caffeine. I went to Cora being so close by. I typically like black coffee or not too sweet coffee. When I made my request of not too sweet brown sugar latte, the staff were so helpful in identifying how much to add. It was perfect, lightly sweetened brown sugar latte with almond milk. The place also seems to offer work/conference space, seems like a nice addition. The seating for customers appeared limited but still nice and clean. We had an extra drink - I don't remember the name but it had rose in it. I didn't have it, my colleague did and she said it was really good! 2 firsts for me: I found myself eating pure butter, and I had to strongly resist an urge to steal. This is a winner of a super cute meets urban coffee spot right in downtown SAC. They have a very limited baked goods selection, BUT, the aforementioned butter is a very special strawberry butter, with actual pieces of fruit! They will warm up the biscuit too. The thieving urge came about when I saw the freshly baked batch of chocolate chip cookies- they were not up for sale until 20 minutes had passed by so they could cool down. So that will be for next time. The coffee menu is your standard fare, but they have a few boozy options. I'm in this coffee shop almost daily and the service has always been excellent: friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable. The products are also fantastic: the tamari caramel is my personal favorite drink, and the snacks they offer are phenomenal. You must try their chocolate chip cookies if nothing else, but everything I have tried there has been great. The space is plentiful, lots of seating with stools and benches near large windows for plenty of natural lighting. The decor is simple and elegant with seasonal decorations as well as plants, and little nick-nacks for added charm. They have a little teck deck skate park near the drink pick up if the line was a little long, but I haven't had to wait more than a few minutes for my orders. Music is played, but at a soft enough volume to add to the atmosphere but not distract from reading, working, or talking. I highly recommend this cafe to anyone looking for a good cup of coffee, a matcha, or a quick snack while out and about downtown. It's also worth a trip to the city just to try it, in my opinion.
