Market on 28th is a very cute coffee shop with a charming aesthetic. The space is very small with limited seating, so I wouldn't recommend it as a work or study spot. It's definitely more of a grab-and-go kind of place. I ordered the Vietnamese Vanilla Iced Coffee, and it was delicious. Super strong (as Vietnamese coffee should be!) and it came in the cutest cup. I tried Market on 28th this weekend and had such a great experience. We ordered the katsu sandos, Tokyo dirty matcha, Uji matcha latte, and the Taiwan dried fruit tea--and everything was really solid. The katsu sandos were delicious, and I loved the sauce, honestly would go back just for that. The drinks were also really nice. My favorites were definitely the Tokyo dirty matcha and the Taiwan fruit tea. Next time I'd probably ask for the tea a little less sweet, but I'd 100% order them again. They even surprised us with a complimentary Seoul whipped dalgona drink because it was our friend's birthday, which was such a sweet touch Shoutout to the gentleman working on a Sunday afternoon, he was so, so kind. This was my first time coming to this spot. I've passed by it plenty of times on my usual route home and always meant to check it out. I finally had the time to stop in. It's a small, relaxed coffee shack that's easy to miss if you're not paying attention. Once you're there, the vibe is very chill. I ordered a Vietnamese coffee. Nothing too fancy, but it was solid with good flavor and no complaints. They also serve food, and I've seen in the reviews that some of their dishes are pretty popular. I didn't try anything to eat this time since I had already eaten before stopping by. Next time, I definitely plan to come back and try one of their dishes. Overall, it's a nice local coffee shop. Probably depends on the time of day, but I was able to find street parking fairly easy. The cafe seems to be more of a grab n go type of vibe as it is pretty small. It's clean and cute but only has two tables for customers. I imagine on busier days it could be pretty crammed. They have an assortment of food and drink. I ordered the hojicha hazelnut latte which I found so tasty! It was definitely a drink on the sweeter side so if you don't enjoy that I might stray away from it. There was a lot of rice and it was slightly hard but overall decent. We also got the chicken Katsu sandwich. There was some in the refrigerator, but upon request they made us a fresh sandwich which was served warm. It's a fairly simple sandwich with chicken sauce, lettuce, and onions. I tried Market on 28th on a weekday morning and found street parking across from the business. I ordered the Hojicha Hazelnut Latte and Matcha Cloud w/oat milk. (There is an additional charge for dairy alternatives.) The Hojicha was not something I'd order again, but I like to try hojicha options whenever I see it on menus. The hazelnut syrup was subtle, which I personally prefer since I dislike overly sweet drinks. Also, it seemed a little chalky to me for some reason. The Matcha Cloud is a new drink that's not yet listed on their menu. It has a coconut milk base with a whipped matcha cream on top. I much preferred this one. Good service. Small area. We visited this cute little spot on a Sunday. We got there when they opened since I knew they only had a couple tables inside. This ended up being a good idea because they were so busy the whole time we were there. Clearly, this place is popular. I think they were unexpectedly shorthanded but the person behind the counter (I think he was the manager) handled it professionally and with grace. Great service. We got the spam and tofu musubi, katsu sando, Taiwan dried fruit flower tea, and Thai tea matcha. I loved the dried fruit tea and would get that again. Both musubi had the classic flavors I've always loved. My friend liked her matcha but preferred a little more thai tea flavor, and was offered by the manager to add more flavor if she wanted. I ended up taking the sando home (which heated up nicely) and I also got the hojicha oatmilk latte for the road. I liked the roasted flavor of the latte. I plan to come back to try more things, and I especially want to try that coconut dessert on the menu. Weekends appear to be crazy busy so try to go early or try going on a weekday. read more

I used Yelp to look for nearby cafes to try and decided to come try this place. It's my first time here! The cafe is really tiny, fitting only about 5-7 customers inside before it feels crowded. I love the simple and cozy atmosphere and design of the cafe. All the walls are white, and the front of the cafe has a giant glass window, allowing sunlight to come in. The tables are situated next to the window, giving you a nice view looking outside. The staff was kind and friendly! They welcomed me when I went in and were kind to provide suggestions of their popular menu items! The wait wasn't too long, 10-15 minutes as I was lucky to have ordered before a rush of customers came. I ordered the katsu onigiri and matcha latte with oat milk. 9/10 Matcha latte with oat milk: I liked this drink! It had a good balance of matcha and oat milk. It didn't tasted watered down, it was good. Wasn't sweet either. It's a standard matcha latte, so it was overall okay. I'll need to order the latte again with the cream! 4/10 Katsu onigiri: This was one of the secret menu items I asked about and ordered. I didn't like the rice and the katsu. There was mostly the katsu's tempura skin but barely any meat was present. The rice was not the right texture and it was hard. I was disappointed. Cute lil spot! They're co-owned by Hidden Dumpling House next door. We tried the two matcha drinks, the Tokyo Dirty Matcha and the Matcha Cloud (not on the menu yet) and both were delicious. Cute little hole in the wall spot. Definitely easy to miss. Came on a Friday and parking was pretty easy to find but it is street parking only. The shop itself is small but cute. Only two tables inside so mostly take out orders. The person who took my order was very sweet and made suggestions for what to try. Got the iced matcha latte with vanilla and the chicken katsu sando. The matcha was balanced with the right amount of sweet! The sandwich however was not my favorite. Flavorful but the chicken was a bit hard. It was also on the pricer side, in my opinion. I was very excited because there were a lot of positive reviews for this place but I was greatly underwhelmed by the food. I came by at about 2:30pm on a Thursday and they had most of their entrees out of stock so I couldn't try the beef guydon bowl. I ordered the unagi roll and the spam masubi. Only the eel roll was made to order, but it wasn't too impressive. The rice tastes and feels too sticky. The spam masubi is pre made and he grabbed it from the warmer so the rice feels and tastes a bit crunchy from being dried out. Also a lot of rice for the spam ratio. The spam was the only flavorful thing and that's because of its own flavoring. $11? An absolute joke...this thing should be $5 tops!! The Vietnamese coffee I just wasn't a fan of the bean/choice of espresso they used and my boyfriend's vanilla latte was also mid. All in all, the best thing I received from this visit was the cute one time use cup. They are located off of a busy street, but street parking is possible if you circle a few times. This place is maybe 1000 square feet altogether but that's what makes it cool. The family working here put service and quality of food before flashy and bright decor, and also before an expensive menu. The prices here are moderate compared to other similar places in the area. I tried the chicken katsu sandwich and brought it home to share with my girlfriend. We both enjoyed the crispy chicken. The soft bread make each bite feel light. The sauce on the sandwich is delicious. Loved the fresh ingredients like lettuce, tomato and onion. I would definitely order this again. I can't wait to go back and try their gyoza and spam masabi. The young lady working the counter took my order and then got to making it herself. She packaged it up and charged me with a big smile, it felt good supporting a new startup. Eventually I got my sando (shopkeeper told me upon me ordering it that it would take 15 min to prepare but it ended up being more like 25). For reference I was here at 10 am on a weekday. Worth the wait? I dunno..... Sandwich bread needs to be changed because the sauces in the sandwich were soaking well into it. Had one bite with a thick raw onion slice. Crispy chicken crust but the meat was on the dry side. I also had a matcha with cream. Menu really should specify that the cream is *salted* because I wouldn't have added the cream (not a fan of salted cream). The matcha taste itself was nicely earthy though. Primarily a grab-and-go spot as there is only one small dining table in the shop. Finding general street parking wasn't too difficult at the time and there are a couple of 15 min street parking spots right out front. read more

It seems like he makes most items to order, so I could definitely see this place having a longer wait if there were a lot of customers. Very empty for a Thursday lunch hour though! I love the Japanese translations on the menu and the addition of fresh flowers really livens up the place! We tried the Taiwan Dried Fruit Tea which was excellent! Really deep flavors and color but smooth and super drinkable. Hibiscus and honey are the main flavors coming theouI also had their matcha. The tea flavor came through more than most where the milk flavor could be overpowering. We also tried the chicken katsu sandwich, honestly a great sandwich all around, but I didn't feel like it was particularly chicken katsu. The ingredients were very reminiscent of a burger or fast food chicken sandwich - iceberg lettuce, tomato, raw white onions, a thousand island-esque sauce. The onigiri tuna rice ball was the perfect American upgrade from what we remember from Japan - upgrade in price and with the ever-Western addition of cream cheese. The ratio of rice to filling was great in my opinion, definitely more filling that comes in most onigiris. They don't have coffee yet but they have the beautiful espresso machine set up so hopefully it's soon! There was a chalkboard out front mentioning the new Peach Blossom tea so I tried that, which has peach, rose, and lemon with green tea. It's on the sweeter side but it was refreshing!
