I loveeee 68th street. Such a gem. I've been there twice now, both weekday mornings so quiet and calm. It's self-service ordering on their kiosk so not much interaction with the workers. Their matcha is great and a great price too. Has been the perfect amount of sweetness both times. Last time my friend got a coffee and she enjoyed that too. If I had one note I would say I wish their strawberry cream croissants had real strawberry topping or the cream was inside the actual croissant. With the cream just piped on top it feels kind of lazy. Overall such a nice spot for people in Natomas, definitely deserves to be more popular. Not as aesthetic or trendy as some of the places in midtown but value is fantastic. Both drinks and food are cheap compared to a lot of other cafes. So I was driving around Natomas one afternoon and I was feeling a little sluggish and I remembered reading on Yelp about a new Vietnamese coffee shop in Natomas-so I headed out to 68th Street Cafe. This place was located on Truxel Road in a decent sized strip mall-so parking was plentiful. Upon walking in they had an ordering kiosk and an employee and your able to order either way. For some reason I decided to order on the kiosk. I went with a Vietnamese Mocha with an extra shot of espresso ($5.50 + $1.75) This place besides selling coffee also sells various items for breakfast and lunch and also has a snacks menu. I decided to try a small Pork Banh Mi ($3.99) They have a very interesting menu with various Banh MIs and also breakfast sandwiches and also things like fries and netted egg rolls. I plan on coming back to try all their Banh MIs and the netted egg rolls sound intriguing. The inside of this cafe is quite understated but it's cute. There are a few tables to sit at to enjoy your coffee or food items. My coffee came out really fast and boy did it hit the spot. I'm relatively new to Vietnamese coffee still but this is for sure one of the better ones I've had. That extra espresso shot really took that drink to the next level. The Banh mi took a bit to be made but that's because each sandwich is made to order by the cutest little Vietnamese lady in the back. The sandwich was so delicious. I ordered it with extra pickled vegetables and they were perfect-the bread was nice and soft and the meat was well seasoned. Eating that sandwich made me want to come back to try more of their food and I plan to. Overall I would say my visit was a total success as I enjoyed the coffee and the sandwich and I really hope this business sticks around for a long time. This is clearly a neighborhood gem. We have had so many Vietnamese Egg Coffees and their version is by far our favorite. So balanced, not too strong or too sweet - perfection. Was surprised to find a $4 banh mi on their menu, but it is well priced considering the sandwich is handheld - about the size of a croissant. It was tasty! We will likely pass on the ham and cheese croissant though. The croissant itself was crispy and not greasy, but the cheese was American processed cheese. Just okay. Popcorn chicken was really good. Not a Taiwanese style chicken fry - more like boneless chicken wings perfectly seasoned with the most delicious chili salt and paired with a perfectly balanced, garlicky sweet chili house hot sauce. The best part of our order was the traditional Vietnamese yogurt to end. It's like merging American yogurt with pudding, definitely a must try. Glad to have this place in town. This had a crunchy batter and the chicken was a little dry. 3.5/5 - Chicken Wings: soy garlic and spicy Korean. The sauce was only on the top side. The entire back side had no sauce. It was as if they fried the chicken, then added the sauce, but didn't toss it to coat the other side. 3/5. - Chicken Banh Mi: chicken, cucumbers, and pickled carrots and daikon. It's on the smaller side but perfect for me. The chicken was flavorful and tender. It was only missing pate. They have an amazing variety of pastries, hot foods, not to mention a variety of drinks. So this place took over The Oyster Bar spot on Arena Blvd. The place is pretty close to me but since Paris Baguette is even closer it took awhile for me to try this place. The menu is pretty small but they execute it well. I tried the coconut coffee which was creamy coco-nutty deliciousness. The netted spring rolls and special rolls were good but were not served with any sauce and fish sauce was really needed to cut through the oil from deep frying. The egg ban mi was incredible! This has to be one of the best butter croissants in Sacramento. I've been here a couple times and got the egg coffee and butter croissant my first visit. Both delicious! But I've been daydreaming of this croissant ever since so I returned today just for that. I was so excited to try this place when I saw it on insta and it lived up to the hype! My friend and I came on a rainy Saturday. They had a special, buy 3 get one free so my friend and I each ordered 2 pastries, and a Vietnamese coffee. I got the Oreo cream croissant ($2.75) and strawberry matcha ($2.75). They were so cute and insta worthy. The dough was flaky and the topping had the right amount of sweetness. My friend got pigs in a blanket and pain au chocolate that he completely devoured them. I love that the prices for the pastries are super reasonable. They also had almond cookies for us to sample, and those were crunchy and good. I'll definitely buy these next time. This spot is a small mom and pop place, and the service was sooo nice and friendly. While there is limited seating, we were able to grab a bench. This might be my new favorite bakery. I tried this place for lunch as I was craving for a bahn mi sandwich. I ordered two pastries, a pork bahn mi sandwich, fish sauce wings and the netted spring rolls. I've had a lot of Vietnamese dishes and unfortunately this did not hit the spot for me. The dishes are very affordable but it's also because the serving sizes are just the perfect size for the cost. Stopped in on Saturday for their grand opening to try their BOGO but turns out they listed Saturday March 27th but meant Friday, March 27th so they weren't honoring it, even though the sign was still out and I told them the flyer indicating Saturday. Don't know the difference.But this one was really good. The egg foam coffee is also a winner, though.With the ice a bit small, that is low liquid volume but tasty and smooth and sweet. I found this place on TikTok after someone posted about it, and to my surprise, it's right down the street from our house. I stopped by around lunchtime and it was a bit quiet, but honestly I was just excited to have an Asian bakery nearby in Natomas. The shop seems like it's still finding its footing, so the ambiance is okay for now. They have two display areas--one near the entrance with pastries and another with almond cookies. One thing I'd really recommend is adding labels with the names of each pastry. I had a hard time hearing the staff member explain the different croissants, so it made ordering a little confusing. I was told there was a buy-one-get-one deal, so I ended up getting four pastries, but I think I was charged for three? I wasn't totally sure, so I just went with it. Pricing overall was pretty reasonable though. I tried the chocolate, matcha cream, ham and cheese, and bacon and cheese croissants. They were all flaky, fresh, and really tasty--you can definitely tell they're homemade. Service was okay, and overall I'd be willing to give this place another shot. We ordered egg foam coffee and the mocha. Mocha was strong and good but had a lot of ice so it felt like you didn't get much drink. The foam coffee for me had too much milk and didn't taste strong enough. Foam flavor was delicious though. We also had pastries. Thank you for making them reasonably priced! Pastries exceeded my expectations. Strawberry one is so good, not too sweet, but just right. Oreo cream one is good but rich as expected so you don't need it to yourself. Hubby went back the next day and got a mango drink. Very good, no changes needed there. He also got some food they are trying out. It was meat with vermicelli noodles. Lots of flavor but for me, WAY too garlic dominant. The sauce to pour on and the meat flavor was so much garlic I couldn't smell or taste anything else. The chili salt popcorn chicken and the spicy soy garlic chicken are a must try. The banh mi is also a great snack. I love how they have $4.50 banh mi. They are small, but it's perfect for a snack. I was sadly disappointed. Customer service was meh. I got the Viet coffee with the crema topping and boba. Coffee was ok. Crema was ok. Boba was all mushy like it was yesterday's leftover supply. Ambience- I could see where they're going with it but looks like still in progress- that part is totally understandable. But for a first impression- I'm not really impressed ugh. I would probably give it another try in about a month to see if they step it up- I really hope they do because Natomas needs a good Asian bakery/coffee/tea type spot but for now- this wasn't it.
