A bit off the beaten path in Fair Oaks, you might not even know this gem exists. I hesitate to post this review because I love that it's never crowded. It has become our favorite after church Sunday breakfast spot. The food is fresh and flavorful. Burgers and sandwiches are amazing, but my favorite is the quiche Lorraine which is done crepe style with smoked bacon and caramelized onions. Their soups are always so good as well. The pastry counter if filled with an assortment of fabulous deserts and pastries, from scones to tiramisu. Plenty of indoor seating and lovely patio seating as well. At first glance outside, you would think this cafe was going to be a good experience until you drive into the parking lot, it was pretty empty! We came here after our 5-mile walk near the river, and this place was nearby. There were no customers dining in on a Sunday, very odd. So, we thought we've made a mistake and was about to leave, then one of the waitresses told us that they served breakfast and handed us a menu. The menu was very limited and overpriced! I ordered the lemon buttermilk pancakes with potatoes for $14!!! The menu stated 3 fluffy pancakes with housemade lemon curd with strawberries. What I got was 3 small thinly made pancakes with a tiny serving of lemon curd on the side. If you're going to serve me pancakes, I expect them to be huge and thick for that price! That one tiny strawberry I've got on top of my pancakes was a sad little touch. I expected a few strawberries like the menu stated and only got one! That was not worth my money! My friend ordered their breakfast croissant. This meal was a huge letdown! We could have had a decent breakfast someplace else. read more

I order a delivery using Uber eats..... The delivery person was unable to follow my very very simple instructions to find me.... I order a quiche, Lorraine and a hamburger two hours ahead for a delivery .. No, I got a very rare hamburger as requested. It arrived very cold. ... I also requested a quiche, Lorraine with a soup .. I don't know what I really got It was potato salad, and what appeared to be a breakfast burrito . I did taste it. It was warm and it appeared to be lots of bacon, but nothing what I requested. .. Well, reviews are certainly mixed on this place! At 10 am on a Thursday, the place was almost empty. I ordered at the register and the server was a bit intimidating, but when he eventually served my water at the table, he smiled. I ordered a croissant sandwich with scrambled eggs and sausage, no cheese, and potatoes. It seemed like it took a while considering that no one else was ordering, but my food arrived looking very good. The croissant was one of the best that I have ever tasted, and the sausage was a real meat sausage, not a frozen cardboard one. I like my potatoes crispy like these were. This was a $15 order! I asked to purchase two croissants, but they had none to sell, so I am not sure that they are made on site. I did notice an overflowing sink full of soiled dishes and I later read the health inspection violations. I would not come back here based on these, and the initially temperamental service. My food was good, but expensive. The inside of the cafe was sadly lacking any European charm with the exception of the pastry display. No obvious dirt, but an air of neglect. Pulled into the parking lot shortly after they opened on a Tuesday morning. There were no cars in the lot and a man smoking a cigarette outside the side door of the restaurant. Walked in and there were barely any pastries in the case and no other patrons. It seems as though the only man working was the one outside smoking when we first pulled in. We waited over twenty minutes for our food because he cooked everything by himself. The potatoes were burnt, everything was bland, and nothing was worth the price. We will NEVER return. I cant believe we had to spend our hard earned money on this mediocre fair. Do yourself a favor and go to Erica's cafe instead. Cant believe this place is still open. So disappointed. read more

I hadn't been to Mirabelle Cafe in a very long time, several years, but I remember it as being a really nice European cafe, quint, good food, great atmosphere. But what a difference now! Upon walking in on a nice, but chilly Sunday early afternoon, the first thing I noticed was that there were only a couple of other parties there. At that day and hour the place should have been very busy. It was a bit dark, especially behind the half-empty pastry displays (although the pastries looked very good, but the selection didn't look that extensive considering how big the display case is), it was very cold inside (everyone patron there had their coats on), many of the chairs were torn and in disrepair, many of the empty tables had been cleared but not cleaned, and in general the place was a mess. There were several items on the menu not available, but the selection was still good. The service was adequate, not great, but good and the food was just OK. It was really sad to see how far Mirabelle has fallen from the really nice place it used to be. Back then it was a place you'd want to go to and relax with friends over a cup of coffee and a pastry. Not anymore. It has great potential but unless they make some changes, I don't see how it can survive. read more

Mirabelle Café is a place I had never heard of before. I've driven by many times and didn't realize that it existed until last week. Some friends who were in town wanted to meet up here and catch up while we ate. Being the person I am I always check the Yelp reviews of a place I'm not familiar with first. The recent reviews for Mirabelle Café were rough. I probably wouldn't have came here on my own, but my friends insisted it was great. The building itself is tucked away, and so patio dining is a lovely time. I wasn't a huge fan of the atmosphere inside the building however. We went inside, and were greeted by someone who I think is the owner. After telling him we wanted to dine outside he handed us some menus and said he'd be right out. He made his way outside a couple minutes later and took out order. We were the only ones there and it still took 30 minutes to get our food. It wasn't like we got anything crazy. I got a chicken breast sandwich, while one of my friends got a salad, and the other got pancakes. The food was simple, and passable, but nothing to really make it stand out from other restaurants. And 30 minutes is a long time to wait for that food when you're the only customers there. The thing I didn't realize until pulling up and reading the sign however, is that it is a "European Pastry Café." Growing up with European family and friends, going out to eat is seen as an event. You go out and stay there for 2-3 hours sometimes while you talk, hangout, and eat. Going in with this mindset makes a lot more sense for this restaurant, as it wouldn't make sense for them to rush their cooking if they're expecting you to sit and make eating there a whole event. So waiting for my food wasn't that bad once I realized I had to treat it like any other European restaurant, where it's more of an event. But shortly after our food arrived, a man came outside for his "Smoke break" which consisted of him watching us for 10 minutes until our server came out and dropped off the check and told us to come inside when we were ready. We were talking and enjoying ourselves and every time we'd look over, we'd see the server along with the guy who was smoking, standing at the window staring at us. It was fairly uncomfortable as if they wanted us to leave, or they were making sure we wouldn't dine and dash. Eventually as we were getting ready to pay and we were standing up, he rushed outside and told us to go inside to charge us out. It really did feel like he was trying to keep us from dining and dashing. So now my theory that they took forever on the food because they wanted us to sit and enjoy ourselves with our little outing doesn't make any sense, because it seemed like they wanted us paid for and gone. Overall, a very confusing and uncomfortable time with average food, and bad service. It's not a horrible place though, I'd rate it a solid 3/10 based on our experience. read more

We've been getting our birthday cakes here for years, and this will be our last time ordering from here. The happy birthday message was written in white frosting, the same color as the frosting on the top of the cake. The cake was grainy and the bottom tasted burnt. The only salvageable parts were the frosting and cherry filling. Not sure what happened to this place, but I would advise against coming here. read more

Since 1990 this french inspired cafe/bakery has been serving up breakfast, lunch and oh so many desserts, this review is specifically for their Macarons! Macarons, the sandwich cookie, not to be mistaken with Macaroons, it's more dense and coconuty cousin. They're a challenge to make, so it's nice to have places like these serving them up by scratch for you, I've thus far only tried 2 flavors, their Mint Macarons with a chocolate filling some years back and a few weeks ago the Coconut Macaron with a chocolate center. Both are very delicious and make great favors for a party for all your guests, best to call in or come early, before they're all gone! They sell like hotcakes! I'm only knocking off a star since I can't vouch for their other items, I noticed they carry the same Chocolate Peanut Butter and German Chocolate individual cake slices we tried at KP Market which weren't very moist, but dry, so I don't know if they're the supplier or both places get them from somewhere else, making me question their freshness...to be continued on my next visit. read more

Enjoyed a delicious breakfast here this morning. Service was friendly and efficient. Food was so good. Sadly we were too full to get get any of the delicious pastries. After driving by this place for years, my husband and I decided to give it a try. It's always empty so that should have been our first red flag. Our waitress had a really hard time understanding our order which made for an awkward experience as there was a language barrier. We saw another table complain about their order taking so long which ended up being our experience as well. The other table also sent their food back. We have been regulars at Mirabelle for the past two years since moving down the street and it is our favorite breakfast place. If you are wanting to get breakfast over quickly - this isn't the place for you. But if you want to enjoy time with your meal guest, have great customer service, and delicious food, then this is where you want to go. Their outside seating is one of the highlights, with their covered swing seats. They are private, romantic, and fun! The best thing about Mirabelle is the food. My husband has ordered just about everything on the menu and nothing has been anything short of amazing. I am a creature of habit and get the classic eggs Benedict with a gluten free English muffin every time. As someone who has celiac, I've never had a reaction to their breakfast and it's the best eggs Benedict I've ever had! And their breakfast potatoes are to die for. Today there was no food option available, no server, looks like it was just the owner. The outdoor patio was the highlight, though marred by the dogs at the pet daycare barking throughout our meal. The service was good, but the food was not. I had a BLT. Mirabelle makes beautiful pastries. This is where I have gone over the years for a very special dessert. It used to be a fairly lively cafe, but it seems to have gone downhill in recent years. The server was not sure what was available, so each time I asked a question she had to go check with the kitchen. The past two times we came for a lunch, the food was slow and both overcooked and undercooked. Eggs benedict were cooked solid. Yesterday I ordered Quiche Lorraine - a dish I am very familiar with - and I got a crepe full of scrambled eggs and onions. A smidgen of bacon appeared eventually, but the crepe was soggy and I pushed it and the onions aside to eat my scrambled eggs. A variety of side dishes come with the entree, but when I requested soup, there was none, no pasta salad, no potato salad, and so I settled for a fruit cup. My husband got fries, which were crispy and plentiful but rather tasteless. I am sorry to disappoint guests or friends who dined with us on our recommendation. In the future, I say go with dessert, because the cook appears to have left the premises, but the pastry chef is still producing lovely desserts. . read more

The crepes here were fantastic. We were able to customize our crepes with exactly what we wanted, and the crepe taste and texture were divine. The gliding seats were fun and unique. Kids and adults both enjoyed the seats. The service was excellent- attentive and friendly. We were greeted right away with a smiling face. The gentleman was super accommodating. He offered us beverages right away. We wanted lunch so my husband ordered a greek salad and I ordered a salad/soup combo;the soup is the soup of the day and it was a greek style lemon chicken soup. Super delicious. Portions of the salad were a lot more than I expected. I forgot to take pics cuase I was excited for the food. We did get some pastries: a blueberry scone, cannolis and an eclair. I haven't tried it just yet cuase I'm full from lunch but will get back to update about the pastries. I wish I got the name of the gentleman that helped us out. He was personable and attentive. After many years of wanting to try this cafe we finally stopped for lunch the other day. I wish it had been cooler as we would have eaten outside. The patio dining area is really cute & comfy. It was not busy at all for a Saturday at noon. We enjoyed the breakfast croissant sandwich with scrambled eggs, ham & Swiss. The croissant was perfectly toasted and flaky. Perfect amount of cheese. The side salad was very good and the dressing is amazing! It has a slight Dijon mustard flavor, super yummy!! Very good portion size too. We also shared a crepe with strawberries, bananas, & nutella. The iced mocha is made with dark chocolate and very good! We ordered cakes to go, pistachio, tiramisu, & white chocolate raspberry. Also tried the birthday cake macaroon...they were all fabulous! I can see why other reviews are either 1 star or 5. Came and sat outside and was told "be out there in 30 seconds". After waiting a long time for some kind of service had to just go back inside and get the menu and utensils ourselves. Had to make multiple trips back inside to get the menu, water and utensils seperately. Ordered a simple omelet and pancakes. Finally got the omelet after a LONG wait and an update on the pancakes saying it will be a while because the cook and owner were having a fight. After waiting over an hour finally got a dry not fluffy napkin of a pancake who's only flavor was in the small cup of lemon butter to pour on it. I would have been better off with Bisquick at home. Fruit consisted of a a single strawberry and no syrup was brought with the pancakes. If you're considering coming here, don't. Go to IHOP. Better, friendly service, actually better food, better speed and certainly better prices. read more

Best brunch I've had in awhile! My family and I came here on a warm Sunday morning. Outdoor seating is appealing and unique but it does get hot if you sit on the side the sun hits. It you're sitting outside it's a little difficult to get the attention of the waitress so it took some time to get refills and the bill. The food itself was very good! I tasted the Mirabelle's Grand Omelette and a crepe with roasted turkey, avocado, spinach, additional chicken breast with provolone. The omelette was light, bacon wasn't oily, and the egg was fluffy. On the side, the sourdough was toasted while maintaining a gentle crunch and the potatoes were seasoned and crispy. I don't often eat savory crepes so I can't quite describe it but it was very delicious! My only issue with crepes is it falls apart when I cut it-- but I might just not know how to eat crepes LOL. Overall, it was an enjoyable meal with a slight wait. Note: It was my boyfriend's birthday and they give a free piece of cake ! It was the worst of times...Ouch!!! We really were fooled by some untrue Yelp reviews on this place. Let's start with the good stuff first: * Nothing Now the bad stuff: Dirty tables, slow service, got our order wrong, did not care after they delivered us the wrong item... The ambiance inside this cafe was loud refrigeration sounds..why not turn on some music? The inside looked unclean. The pictures on the website made it look a lot nicer than it is. We came in for breakfast and were hoping to have a large anniversary cake made...but after we saw what was for sale in the bakery and how we were treated at breakfast, we changed our minds. The ordering process was very strange...the waitress asked if we wanted sides with our omelettes and we thought they were extra and said no until I asked did these come with are order. Why not ask "what would you like for you sides?" Very confusing. My wife asked for her omelette to be made with egg whites. Of course it didn't. We were too hungry to wait for another omelette, so she ate it. After 10 minutes went by, the waitress came by and I told her what had happened. She said "oh, I did not hear you say that". No I'm sorry or can I make you an omelette how you ordered it? Nothing, she just walked away. Upon paying the bill, we had to go up to the counter because service was so slow, we were tired of waiting for our Bill to be dropped off. We told the owner of the problem with our order. He said "I wish I had known I would have made you another". No I'm sorry or let me take it off your Bill. He just walked away. Needless to say, we won't be back.
