Biscuit particularly not good as it was doughy, wet , chewy and tasted of too much baking powder. I did like the big chunks of meat. The country potatoes were typical diner quality, but I just don't like country style breakfast potatoes. No substitution offered. Server was efficient if a bit rough around the edges. I sat at the counter. She made sure that I had everything I needed. That's okay, I'm happy enough, don't need a smile from some one who's bringing me food. Oh, yeah just like my old sourpuss mother. Now the value for the dollar issue... The breakfast was $22, the unremarkable coffee was $4.50. After tax and a $5 tip I was out the door for $33. I ordered the XL country fried chicken plate and it's big enough to share with another person. I stopped in for breakfast on a Friday around 9 a.m. ish. Considering it was cold and foggy outdoors, the place is bright, airy and clean. I was greeted at the entrance by 2 pleasant and friendly staff. I was seated right away. My order was taken within a few minutes of being seated. The tables were filled with customers having lively conversations. There were also customers seated at the front of the house area. I noticed several customers were greeted by their first names so I'm guessing they were regulars. The menu is a typical dining menu with a variety of choices for breakfast and lunch. My order arrived within 10 minutes or so. Hot and delicious of course. The wait staff was attentive and very personable. I will most definitely return for breakfast. read more

This is such a busy place so be prepared to either wait or get your order to go in advance. We like it and the staff works so hard here. Great food portions, always leave with a to-go bag. I came here for my birthday. The food was delicious. I got the loaded breakfast burrito which is loaded with ham, bacon, sausage, potatoes and eggs covered in gravy. Solid breakfast spot in Orangevale. If you've tried the original location in Natomas, then you know what to order. Food is consistent and just as good. If you want sausage, I suggest their house made sausage patties. They are so good. I don't think you can go wrong, no matter what you order. They even have mimosas, but I always get coffee. The kitchen is a little slow getting the food out, so have patience. It's worth the wait. The staff here are so nice, friendly, and welcoming. Ambiance isn't much, but it's clean. My husband, daughter and I stopped for a late breakfast at Hot Off the Griddle on Greenback Lane. We were greeted and seated immediately by a very friendly host. Our server came right behind him to get our drink orders. It was hard to decide what to eat, since they had so many nice choices on their menu. We all got different things, from a San Francisco Joe's omelet, to a Belgian waffle, corned beef hash and chicken-fried steak with eggs. Every single meal was delicious, cooked perfectly, and came out hot from the kitchen. The busboy noticed we didn't like the table, and without having to ask he told us he would wipe down another table (a better one not so close to the front door). That was awesome, thanks dude! We eat at HOTG occasionally and the food is quite good. We love supporting local businesses (rather than national chains) and HOTG fits the bill. I understand that everything keeps going up in price and restaurants are no exception. That said, $22 for eggs benedict seems like a stretch. Most all of the egg choices are $18-$20. The water and the food tasted good!! Parking was plentiful and easy, despite being a Saturday morning!! Looking for diner food, specifically breakfast and lunch items, this is a great spot. Excellent customer service, owners on site and interactive with customers and employees. Menu has the usual breakfast items such as omelettes, pancakes, egg and meat plates, and more. Lunch items include burgers, sandwiches, and salads: my daughter got the sour dough burger with bacon, no tomatoes with fries. I got the patty melt with onion rings. We shared the sandwiches, each taking half of the others. Good food. I like that I could get fries or onion rings, both were good. Grandkids shared a grilled cheese sandwich, fries and apple slices. We stayed right around the corner and wanted to get some food and this was one of the highest rated so here we came. I love a good eggs Benedict so I went for the HOTG Benedict. Sadly it didn't deliver. Potatoes were great but the eggs were over cooked, zero run, and the sauce was too thick. The best part of a Benedict is the runny egg and the punch of the sauce but I didn't get any of it. The sauce was bland and thick. Still the meal was fine and not too expensive. The service was 5/5 and our waitress was a delight. Checked up on us a bit and just super friendly. It's a diner feel and pretty open space. All the food here is good. The Hangover Burrito which was recently added to the menu is GREAT ! Chorizo, refried beans, potatoes, eggs, cheddar and jack cheese topped with house made fire roasted salsa and sour cream ! The salsa really pulls this thing up to a high level. Benedict which was diversified with crispy bacon, spinach, avocado & fried green tomato 5/5. The side of fruit that came it was different from other restaurants as it came with pear, tangerine, blueberries, grapes & cara cara orange slices. Almost a rainbow garnishment. No cantaloupes and honeydew! My wife got the Corned Beef Hash 5/5 which came with a side of pancake 5/5. Service was friendly and fast. Portions where generous. Ambience was as simple as it comes. Could be noisy depending on people chatter. At almost 10am there was no wait so we got seated right away. Our server was a delight, very attentive. Yesterday we met here with a group of coworkers for our monthly lunch meeting. At first, I thought the prices were high, compared to our usual breakfast/lunch places. But then we received our food and the quality and the amount of food we got was exceptional. I ordered the seasonal veggie omelet with house potatoes minus the toast and it was excellent. Lots of fresh vegetables and the potatoes also had green onions and were perfectly sautéed. I was only able to finish half of my plate and took home the leftovers for anther meal. Besides the food, the service was good; the only thing that was lacking was the coffee. It was weak, but we did get refills.
