Brookfields has been our go-to breakfast spot in Sacramento for years, and even after moving out of…read morestate (and coming back), it's still the standard we compare every other breakfast place to. Honestly, we haven't found anything that comes close. I order the same thing every single time: the 7-ounce steak and eggs, medium rare, and I swap the toast for a pancake with bananas baked inside. I can't overstate how good this meal is. The steak is always cooked just right, the eggs are perfect, and that banana pancake takes it to another level. It's one of those dishes you start craving before you even walk in the door. We've even gone there for "breakfast dinner" because sometimes you just need it. Yes, it's more expensive than it was many years ago when we first started going. It's no longer the ultra-affordable spot it once was. But we also know they treat and pay their employees well. We've had family members work there while attending college, and that matters to us. Supporting a business that takes care of its people makes the higher price easier to accept. Beyond the food, it's just a cozy place. If you can grab a booth, even better. There's something comfortable and familiar about it that keeps us coming back. We're lucky to have two locations accessible to us. We prefer the one off Sunrise since it's the first one we ever visited and it has more parking, but the Madison location is just as solid. Until something better and more affordable comes along, Brookfields will remain our favorite. And honestly, it's going to be hard to beat.

I'll preface this by saying I knew this wasn't a five star steakhouse or anything. From the menu…read moreyou could tell it's just a blue collar family style very basic meatloaf mashed potatoes type place, with very affordable prices. I'm staying at a nearby hotel for a trade show I'm involved in and didn't feel like traveling far and everything else was fast food and this was a sitdown place so that's why I decided to go there despite the fact I knew it was not high end. The food was priced well there was lots of people and so I knew everything was relatively fresh, but I just had to laugh when my Dish arrived. I settled on the flank steak and shrimp combo platter no mashed potatoes. I opted for veg instead and no cornbread or buns since I'm trying to be keto. I also got a glass of wine, which was happy hour prices and very reasonable when my Dish arrived. It was hilarious instead of a steak. It looked like a cow penis! It tasted fine although it was a little past the "medium" I had requested. They delivered it with a bottle of A1 sauce without me requesting it. that further indicating this is a very basic basic restaurant since at fine dining establishments with steak they are offended if you order A1 sauce! I happen to like A1 sauce even with nice steaks and so I just had to chuckle, but I did like my A1 sauce! The shape was just hilarious. I wish it would've just been round or square or flat or something anything but a penis shape!

Wow! How have I not discovered this place while living in the area for this long?!…read more This place has amazing bagels, sandwiches, coffees and more. Bagels are made fresh and their pasties are amazing! The croissants are huge, fluffy, flaky and buttery! The bagels are delish and there is always a line (no wonder why!!) Definitely adding this place as my go to for bagels for my team. Cant wait to be back.

I'm writing this as a repeat customer who has ordered the same Nova lox bagel here many times…read more I've been coming here regularly for a Nova lox bagel and it has always come out to $14.52. The same employee has rung me up many times before. In fact, he is the one who has rung me up every time, and I even have the emailed receipts showing the exact total each time. Today when I ordered the exact same thing, he told me the total was nearly $18. Since that didn't make sense, I politely went through the math with him: the Nova lox bagel price on the menu plus the $0.80 specialty bagel charge (I always get the spinach Swiss bagel). Even adding it up in front of him, the numbers still didn't come close to $18. I asked where the remainder was coming from, and he couldn't give me an answer. He just kept repeating that it was "what the register says." If one bagel comes out to $14.52, how exactly would two bagels be $18? Because the total made no sense and there was no explanation, I chose not to order and left. Later my husband went in and ordered the exact same Nova lox bagel and was charged about $12. When he asked why I had been told nearly $18 earlier, the employee said that I had ordered two bagels. That's simply not true. What's frustrating is that he presented it as though I ordered two bagels, not that two were accidentally rung up. If that was the issue, it could have been explained when I asked him directly at the register. What made the interaction worse was the dismissive attitude. I told him I come here all the time, order the exact same thing, and even have receipts showing the $14.52 total every time. Instead of trying to understand or look into it, he essentially shrugged and repeated that the register said $18. Customer service and word of mouth are everything these days. It's disappointing when businesses forget that the people walking through the door are the ones supporting them. The Nova lox bagel is already pricey as it is. Add attitude and nonchalant behavior on top of that, and it's simply not worth it. I truly won't be coming back. I'd rather go to Costco, buy smoked salmon and bagels, and make my own without the attitude. If the owner has an explanation for how one bagel suddenly became nearly $18 while the same order was $12 minutes later, I'd genuinely be interested to hear it.

We have tried multiple Mimosa House locations, and this one is by far and away our favorite. There are a lot of breakfast spots out there, but what keeps us coming back here is not just the food, which is always solid, it is the people. The staff at this location are such a good team. Nick, Danielle, Skylar and Devin (and Omar when we get to see him), every single one of them is friendly, on top of everything, and just genuinely good at what they do. You can tell they all work well together, and it makes a difference. Even when it is busy, things run smoothly and you never feel ignored or rushed. And honestly, that kind of experience does not happen without a strong kitchen and the rest of the team behind the scenes. We may not know everyone by name, but it is clear they are all working together to keep things consistent. It is one of those places where you start to feel like a regular without even trying. We have even gotten to know a few of the other regulars over time, which just says a lot about the kind of place this is. You walk in, get a smile, maybe recognize a familiar face or two, and know you are going to be taken care of. We have made our way through a good portion of the menu over time. My husband is all about the chicken apple sausage, and I tend to switch things up depending on the day. Everything we have had has been consistently good. Nothing overcomplicated, just really solid breakfast done right. My one, very small, wish? I would love it if they opened up the lunch menu a little earlier. We are early risers, and every now and then I just want a good patty melt and some great fries for breakfast. Weird? Maybe. But I stand by it. Whether you are someone who likes to sit, relax, and enjoy your morning, or someone who can somehow run in, toss a card down for a quick mimosa, and be out the door in record time, this place has you covered. Either way, you will be taken care of.

Love their country scramble, biscuits were amazing -- not from a box and not microwaved. Gravy was a bit under-seasoned, but a little salt and pepper fixed that no problem. I'd rather add salt than get white gravy that is too salty. Great coffee and fantastic service. Their hash browns are fresh, not frozen and the country potatoes have delicious flavor. Eggs are always cooked to perfection. What's not to love?

Denver omelette was reasonably good. Negatives: Most of the food was grease-laden and honestly not very tasty. How can food be so salt-laden yet still bland AF? Hash browns were ordered crispy, but came out raw-ish. Breakfast sandwich was coated in grease, and it took a couple of hours to work that taste out of my mouth. They use the cheapest possible ingredients and it shows. Not recommended for anyone who is concerned about their salt intake. Service is slow. Staff, while not rude, were very indifferent, and none of them looked anything other than profoundly depressed to be there. There have to be better options for breakfast in Rancho Cordova than this! We couldn't get out of there fast enough, and we won't be back.

Breakfast of corned beef hash, 2 eggs and biscuit. Drank coffee…read more Plenty of food. Unfortunately not very satisfying. Biscuit particularly not good as it was doughy, wet , chewy and tasted of too much baking powder. I did like the big chunks of meat. The country potatoes were typical diner quality, but I just don't like country style breakfast potatoes. No substitution offered. Server was efficient if a bit rough around the edges. I sat at the counter. She made sure that I had everything I needed. That's okay, I'm happy enough, don't need a smile from some one who's bringing me food. Oh, yeah just like my old sourpuss mother. Now the value for the dollar issue... The breakfast was $22, the unremarkable coffee was $4.50. After tax and a $5 tip I was out the door for $33. I recently had a wwwwaaaayyy more satisfying breakfast at Mario's Early Toast for half that price. Hot off the griddle is a big improvement over a Denny's. But that's a pretty low bar for judgement. Sorry, no return for me.
