V-day decorations and a boonie hat on a cane tell the tale of most visitors.

A "hidden gem" that's been 51 years in the same location-the corner of a now dying strip mall. Well-deserved Yelp favorite, particularly among retirees. Outstanding breakfast menu, food prepared perfectly, friendly efficient servers, and comfortable surroundings. Bonus points for linguica as a meat choice. Would never have found it without the Yelp community. Hubs and I eagerly gobbled our breakfasts which arrived hot and perfectly cooked, so enjoy pics of the spot.

Always great service. It's such a delight to dine here. The eats are beyond delicious. Prices are fair. Lots of vintage decor and knick knacks. It's cute.

The perfect breakfast place. I've been here at least 6 different times and always had an amazing experience each time I've come here with my family. Prices are extremely affordable and service here is always fantastic. I usually get the Monte Cristo with country potatoes and it's perfect. The French toast and the pancakes here amazing too! Try it out! You won't regret it!

Aside from the fact that I was really excited to try it because I'm from Texas and I love biscuits and gravy. The food was OK. What really made me not want to come back, though was the fact that the staff was making fun of a customer that got harassed by another customer. The customer left upset and the staff continued to make fun of her. I can understand why they have a help wanted to sign up in their window now.

This is definitely AMERICAN cuisine ... The place was PACKED, but the servers aren't the friendliest , the food came out surprisingly quick ... I've been to this place about 3 times. This is definitely a 45 type restaurant

Very attentive service. Food was comforting and delicious. Constantly refilling my coffee. Very homey vibes. Great for solo breakfast

The service was excellent the waffle was a little undercooked the sausage links were overcooked. The English muffin was good . Prices were decent. The water was terrible. The first thing I look at is the silverware big time failure.

This is a solid little hole in the wall cafe 3.8/5. I'll start with the service. Our waitress was sweet and friendly and my husband's coffee cup was never empty. Service was 10/10. The decor is ummm, very patriotic. Like someone threw a 4th of July party but never took down the decorations. The place could use a good dusting on all of the decor. It's very homey. Most of the food was good. I really enjoyed my Larry's scramble. It's like an open face grilled cheese with sausage patties and scrambled eggs on top. I opted for my gravy on the side. The food is very homey like what your grandma might make only a bit smaller on the portion size. My potatoes were very good but could have cooked a few more min. 8/10 for my plate. The Monte Cristo was 6.5/10 the inside of the bread was too soggy for me and the size of the food wasn't worth $12.50 in my opinion. The gravy was good. 7/10. The biscuits unfortunately were a miss. 5/10 along with the pancakes. 5/10. We would definitely go back and I'd like to try something off the lunch menu. Overall 7/10.

This is definitely your neighborhood Cheers where everybody knows your name. Tucked back in the corner of a nearly vacant strip mall, this is another one of those iykyk places. The service here is the star of the show. The decor is over the top kitschy in a U S A kind of way, but the food is mostly on point though. I am not a huge breakfast eater, but it's my husband's favorite so we try to find places that will work for both. We are on a mission to try every breakfast place in Sacramento. Hubby raved about his scramble, but I have to say I was not so much a fan of the freezer fries. That said, the prices here are hands down the best I've seen post Covid.

It has become our favorite after church Sunday breakfast spot. The food is fresh and flavorful. Burgers and sandwiches are amazing, but my favorite is the quiche Lorraine which is done crepe style with smoked bacon and caramelized onions. Their soups are always so good as well. The pastry counter if filled with an assortment of fabulous deserts and pastries, from scones to tiramisu. Plenty of indoor seating and lovely patio seating as well. We came here after our 5-mile walk near the river, and this place was nearby. There were no customers dining in on a Sunday, very odd. So, we thought we've made a mistake and was about to leave, then one of the waitresses told us that they served breakfast and handed us a menu. The menu was very limited and overpriced! I ordered the lemon buttermilk pancakes with potatoes for $14!!! The menu stated 3 fluffy pancakes with housemade lemon curd with strawberries. What I got was 3 small thinly made pancakes with a tiny serving of lemon curd on the side. If you're going to serve me pancakes, I expect them to be huge and thick for that price! That one tiny strawberry I've got on top of my pancakes was a sad little touch. I expected a few strawberries like the menu stated and only got one! That was not worth my money! My friend ordered their breakfast croissant. This meal was a huge letdown! We could have had a decent breakfast someplace else.

I mentioned Fair Oaks Brew Pub as an option I found on Yelp &, as a local, he said it was a great choice. We almost immediately scored street parking only a few doors down. I'd never been to Old Fair Oaks Village before. Looking around, the little town center was more reminiscent of a historic gold country town up in the foothills than Sacramento suburban sprawl. The cutesy charm of the surroundings extended to Fair Oaks Brew Pub itself. Greeted as soon as we walked up, we chose to sit out in their inviting patio area on a perfect Spring day. Our server was along shortly. She was friendly, helpful, & the right amount of attentive. For brew pub fare, we both chose the Risky Burger. Essentially a Western bacon BBQ variation of their regular cheeseburger. Sides were upgraded to onion rings. For the brew, I got their Chicken Foot Pale Ale. Everything was up before long. The Risky Burger was outstanding. Crispy bacon, tasty onion rings (in the burger, as well as on the side), gooey melted cheese, & a perfectly cooked patty just juicy enough to turn the last bite or 2 of the whole burger into a bit of a mess. The Chicken Foot Pale Ale was decent for style, though a little old school in terms of recipe/ malts/ hops. Still, a refreshing pairing for the Risky Burger. All in all, Fair Oaks Brew Pub was a great spot to grab a bite & a beer in an unexpectedly scenic pocket of suburbia.

We weren't asked if we needed refills, how our food was, or if everything came out correctly. At one point, I had to get up and go to the bar myself just to order another drink, which definitely took away from the overall experience. It felt like we were completely forgotten. The atmosphere and food may have potential, but the lack of attentive service made it hard to fully enjoy our visit. Hoping this was just an off night, but it wasn't a great experience.

This time started off a little rough, but in the end they made it right, which is why I'm writing this review. I placed a to-go order for steak, shrimp, and chicken fajitas. The order was repeated back to me correctly when I called it in. When I arrived to pick it up, the restaurant was extremely busy and the staff was clearly focused on serving the diners inside first, so my order took about an extra 25 minutes. Not ideal, but understandable given how packed the restaurant was. Unfortunately, when we got home and opened the bag, the fajitas only contained steak -- there was no chicken or shrimp included. I called the restaurant and spoke with the manager to explain what happened. At first there was some back-and-forth about possible solutions, including bringing the food back or only replacing part of the order. My husband had already started eating because he was hungry, so returning the food wasn't really practical. To the manager's credit, she took the situation seriously and actually called the owner at home to explain what had happened. Shortly afterward she called me back and let me know the owner approved remaking the entire order correctly at no additional cost. That completely changed the experience. For me, good customer service isn't about the money -- it's about making things right when a mistake happens. Once they stepped in and corrected the situation, it showed they value their customers and their reputation. Mistakes happen at every restaurant, especially when things are busy. What matters is how a business responds. Cantina Azteca ultimately did the right thing, and because of that we will absolutely continue to come back. Thank you to the manager and owner for making it right.
