    Mititei ("The Little Ones")

Noroc Restaurant keeps it simple and does it really well. The Russian salad was the first thing I tried and it stood out, it's like a mix of egg salad and potato salad, super creamy with a nice dill-forward flavor from the pickles. The little bologna pieces are unexpected but actually work, they add that salty bite that brings everything together. I also had the Mititei ("The Little Ones")basically like a homemade sausage, juicy, garlicky, and grilled with a nice char. Everything feels authentic and well-prepared, just solid food done right. 5 ROARS from Focusaurus Rex

If you have never tried Eastern European cuisine...Noroc is the go to destination.. located in Carmichael, this enchanting restaurant has everything you can look for. Tasty and quaint dishes of the region. You can order any dish on the menu, and be very confident it is amazing! Being vegetarian I had the Greek salad which was wholesome and appeasing not only to the sight but taste as well. My husband loved the sausage dish and my brother in law loved the chicken ..everything including the bread is home made. Every dish is cooked to order. Maria provided the best customer service. She explained the dishes and made recommendations and was very pleasant to converse with. To top it all, they have a bar as well as live music three days a week

I've dining here off and on for the last couple of years and they never ever disappoint. The food is unbelievable good and the quality is top notch. The service is first class and the atmosphere is very pleasant. I love the Romanian radio station that plays in the background. I can't wait to celebrate my Birthday here with all of my family and friends. Thank you

Delicious eastern European food with somewhat random, somewhat cute ambience. I've been twice and the borscht (beet soup) and cabbage rolls were AMAZING! The potato varenyki are very good too and it's a pretty large order....perfect for sharing. The zucchini pancakes were HUGE and had great flavor and texture. My family ordered the pork schnitzel and mashed potatoes which I tried and that was well made and tasty as well. I'm dying to try the desserts but haven't yet. They have so much variety on the menu so there's something for everyone! One time when we went on a Saturday evening they had someone singing and she had a beautiful voice. It felt a bit random, maybe, but we enjoyed it. The service is a little cold sometimes but decent enough. Place is super clean and I honestly can't wait to go back for some more of their delicious comfort food

Romanian fans at the Watch Party hosted by Noroc Restaurant

Noroc gracefully hosted our Watch Party for the Turkey - Romania soccer game. I would like to mention the excellent service we received and all the accommodations made to make our private event a success. Even though the result was not the one we wanted, we all lived the emotions of the match together. Maria and her partner excelled in serving our meals and drinks, making sure the taste was to our liking. I would greatly recommend the Borscht soup, the Olivier Salad, the Mici (grilled sausage) and Blini (cherry crepes) but actually there is nothing on the Menu that one wouldn't like. I can't wait to come back again. Thank you Sandu for hosting our event. You have a great team of waiters and cooks working for you.

Delicious appetizer of pork fat and veggies

I haven't been here for a while but I was craving borscht. Sacramento is a city devoid of good soup restaurants. I love a variety of soups year round and many restaurants don't offer any soup. Noroc offers a few soups from Eastern Europe. I have found their vegetarian Borscht to be of the highest quality and one that is infused with great flavor. Likewise, I fell in love with the cured pork & raw veggie dish. The richness of the cured pork is negated by the raw onion, raw garlic, dill pickles, and horseradish. The course bread was a perfect platter for all of that fat goodness! The restaurant had several patrons when I visited on a Friday evening around 5:30 PM. There was a large party and several other groupings of 2 - 4 people. I was a solo diner. It seems that was only one server for the entire restaurant and she was also the bar tender. Because of that, I think the service was a bit slow; however, I recognize that the food is prepared to order and that there may have been a backlog in the kitchen because of that. I enjoyed the ambience - especially the reproduction of 2 dining areas set up like a kitchen might be in a humble Eastern European village. I have never been dissatisfied with the quality and taste of the food at Noroc and will always be willing to return.

    Borsch

Borsch was so good, like home taste. Beefstroganoff without mushrooms what I didn't like.

We will be back... 2 glasses of cab... beet salad with home made bread.... farmers cheese dumpling with sour cream.... zucchini pancakes..... BEST cabbage rolls... and the apple strudel. Thank you for a great experience.

I only intended on grabbing one but everything looked absolutely beautiful so I couldn't make up my mind. The cherry pastry was a stunner and delicious as well with great flavor and a nice balance of sweetness. My husband wanted the Estelle Noisette and although it was good, it was my least favorite of the three. It had pleasant nutty flavors but it was a little too rich for me. In the end, the real standout was the Blueberry Choux. The cream was light and fluffy and it had just the right amount of blueberry flavor. I really liked the texture of the pastry too and how it complimented the fluffy cream. I would definitely order that one again and highly recommend it. The pastries are definitely on the pricey side, but the quality and presentation justify the cost. The interior of the shop was nice and definitely reminded me of patisseries in France. There was plenty of seating available inside but I took my order to go. I'm really glad I finally got to give them a try and while not every item was a home run for me, the Blueberry Choux alone made the visit worthwhile. I will definitely be back to explore more of their offerings very soon.

The Lamb Chop Mangal definitely tasted gamey, if you like the taste of lamb you're gonna love the flavor of this dish, it doesn't get hidden. I would skip the pirogi, a small portion of 1 for $10 and nothing special you can't get at a Russian bakery. Tea was flavorful, lasted 3 of us throughout the dinner (with hot water refills). For dessert we had 3 options, but 1 was out, so we got the honey cake and settled for the pavlova. Honey cake was the definite favorite, dense and creamy, exactly how it should be. The service was intimate. We had the host, bartender, and server checking up on us frequently. To be fair we had the place to ourselves the first half of dinner (around opening 5pm, then people started crowding in around 6). Ever find a place to be...lacking hospitality to new faces in a restaurant?…read more Let's talk about the service first. We came on a Friday night and there were 2-3 other tables. Our server did not give us a breakdown of any dish, or even the categories on the menu (which by the way, are in Russian). They kinda expected us to "know" everything on the menu. My wife and I ended up googling EVERYTHING, and deciding on what to eat after reading other yelp reviews and what the dishes looked like. After taking a good 10mins of googling and figuring out what to order, we had to raise our hand several times, to a point where we had to call our waiter over vocally and with a hand wave to take our order. The restaurant really isn't big with only 2 other tables being occupied, and I guess locals do come here often and chat with the servers, but we're talking a good extra 5min of not looking at a menu and just waiting. People are raving about the service but I personally just didn't experience the same kind of hospitality. We ordered a borsch, a beef stroganoff, and a viennese schnitzel. I wouldn't say the food came out slow, but it was at the pace of a homecooked meal. The borsh tasted a lot better than ones I've had, and the sour cream was very creamy and fresh. The beef stroganoff was the star of the show with how flavorful and creamy it was. The beef was very tender, and the kasha was especially good. It's definitely enough to fill one person up. The viennese schnitzel is basically a fried pork cutlet (like a katsu) but with different seasonings and paired with some kind of red sauce. The mashed potatoes...were just mashed potatoes. The portion felt a little small for the price for what you get, pork cutlet and mashed potatoes being $27. I can see how authentic this place is, but being tucked so far away in Richmond naturally gets it lower foot traffic than other more accessible spots. The food is delicious and if people are willing to take their grandparents here, then you know it's authentic. I just wish the service was more attentive. The portions to price ratio was also pretty low, and I left feeling a little hungry despite spending $75 before tax and tip for 2. This place is feels more geared to reminiscing a childhood flavor with the family over a date night IMO.
