This restaurant opened not too long ago in my neighborhood. After months of driving past it, I decided to give it a try. I've never had Armenian food and was thrilled to have such a friendly server who walked us through both the menu and the house specialties. Everything I ate last night was a first time taste for me! We were served a bread basket that contained bread and lavash and was accompanied by hummus. We shared khinkali, a dough stuffed with broth and deliciously spiced meat. Our second dish was Tjvjik, one recommended by our server. It was beef liver and beef heart stewed in tomatoes, onions and bell peppers. Our server said to spread this on the lavash, roll it up and take bites of it that way. It was amazing, and I'm not a super big fan of organ meats, so that's saying a lot. Our third shared dish was a lamb kebob and every part of it was delicious. The lamb was perfect and the roasted tomato and chili was delicious. The rice was cooked and seasoned perfectly. For dessert we had Armenian coffees and the Armenian Napoleon. Absolutely delicious! I can't wait to go back and discover more Armenian specialties. This is a unique place. I had driven by it many a times and didn't know what it was. It is named after the Armenian capital. They have lamb, beef, and chicken dishes. Vegetarian dishes are probably only appetizer salads and hummus. We had the khinkhali These were massive soup dumplings that had european flavoring. You try to drink the soup, cover/dip in sour cream. The center top part is a bit thick so I threw it away. We had the lamb kebab with favorful rice, with Seasoned and cooked tomato and pepper. My favorite hands down with the borscht with tender break apart beef. I would definitely come here again. It is on a busy street or fair oaks, easy to miss given how fast the cars go by here. We had a large group dinner at Yerevan (23 people). Booking the the table was easy and the restaurant didn't require a minimum spend or deposit for dining in the regular area (it is required for the private room). I pre ordered some appetizers the day before as suggested by the server when she took my booking so they would be ready for guests when they arrived. The food was delicious. We got some dolmas, khinkali (I liked the steamed ones better), meat platters, salad, salmon and shrimp skewers. The service was excellent, especially for such a large party. Our server was friendly, kept on top of things like water and our food did not take long to come out. The only minor thing was that they only had one bartender so drinks were a little slow. The ambiance may have been my favorite part! It felt like we were far away from Sacramento. Our group loved it! A very meat forward menu and it all looked delicious! We stuck with mostly appetizers to share and they were all pretty tasty. The beef dolmas in grape leaves were my favorite, maybe the best I've ever had. The eggplant caviar was not my favorite, but the hubs enjoyed it. The hummus was delicious! The khachapuri was not the best I've had, but it was passable. The khinkhali was really good, although I'm never sure how to eat them. We also ordered the chicken kabobs to share. The kabobs were phenomenal - moist and perfectly seasoned! We came here for a private Christmas party with about 60 people and were placed in a private room that was spacious enough but still intimate. The servers were all very attentive and polite. We were fortunate to sample a large variety of appetizers and entrees. I'm not very familiar with Armenian food but it was all very delicious and reminded me of Greek / Mediterranean food. The big standouts were the eggplant and chicken salad appetizers and the grilled chicken, pork, lamb, and beef. My partner and I were always curious about this restaurant because of the green lights that were displayed. I finally took them to Yerevan for their birthday. The food was mostly good, I thought the hummus was too salty to the point of bitterness though. The dolma was good and our entrees were as well. However, the issues I had were with the khinkali. I ordered the steamed khinkali and our waitress Alexsandra even repeated back to us that we ordered the steamed khinkali. We got our entrees and dolma, but when the khinkali arrived, they were fried. I am sheepish when I get the wrong order usually, but it was my partner's birthday and I just felt miffed and confused. I politely said "Hello, we ordered the steamed khinkali instead." Our waitress does not say sorry, make efforts to reimburse us, or even give us a justification of "We already made it and can't send it back". But immediately starts to say "No, you did say fried. You're wrong." Like what?! I was baffled. I even asked my partner if I really did say "fried" just to be sure that it wasn't just me, but they were also a bit shocked to see that my waitress was saying I was wrong when I clearly wasn't. Felt like I was getting gaslit. They wanted to get mad for me and confront the waitress, but I didn't want to cause a scene. l paid and left. I've been there twice. The first time, everything was great...so good I brought my parents a week later. The food was once again good, but the service was not so good. The waitress seemed to be annoyed that we were there and then added a 10% service fee onto the bill. We asked about it and she replied "4 people" and walked away. First time ordering from this location but I am so glad we tried them out. Today was a rough day plus with the weather pouring rain we had a family dinner planned here for a birthday celebration. We decided to order out and I called ahead to place my order. I asked a million questions while looking up their menu online. The young lady who took my order was amazing! She listened, made suggestions and asked how many people I was ordering for. She repeated my order confirmed my information and let me know she'd call right back for the pick up time after speaking with the Chef. She called back in 2 minutes and let me know my order would take about an hour. I started driving from south Sacramento. I arrived early. Went inside to pay and was greeted instantly. The place is relatively new but still has such a clean and classy feel. All employees looked clean and professional. After paying my sweet host asked me to pull to the side where a staff of 4 was waiting to load my car up. Yes the order was big. My total was close to $600 but to feed a family of 16 in the comfort of our home was well worth the cost and the amount of food. After allowing the staff to do their thing and load up the car the chef and the owner thanked me for my support of their business and blessed my journey home. Felt like I was leaving my families house. I arrived at my destination after a 35 minute drive. All the food was still warm and well wrapped. No leaks or issues. I appreciate their attention to detail because not one item was missing or lacking. Being an Armenian myself I appreciate finding restaurants in Sacramento where I can get my hometown food without placing orders with my sweet mother. I'll definitely be eating here again and possibly using the space for future celebrations. The food was everything we expected. Cooked correctly and seasoned well.
