Fun vibe

Incredible food! Fun vibe, excellent service. First time here and looking forward to coming back again.

I haven't visited this place in over 15 years. It looks just the same, the food is still great, and the prices are unbeatable. They always serve you on plates larger than standard size. I've rated it four stars because of an incident involving an argument between a former employee and a current employee, who were shouting at each other across the restaurant. She did apologize afterward, but the behavior was still inappropriate and unprofessional.

Chicken fried steak and waffle

Food Was good I ordered chicken fried steak and waffle. Gravy on the side eggs scrambled easy. My eggs came back well. I could've sent them back but they were so busy being Valentine's Day. Service was excellent very friendly and prompt. Large portions going to take home my waffle. This place has a fun vibe. Very eclectic with license plates and a working train that is running on tracks through out the restaurant The coconut cream pie was so cute and yummy. Great place for breakfast or lunch.

Short and to the point: After getting my food , potatoes not cooked, sausage steamed, 20 mins without anyone asking if I needed anything ,but asking everyone around I had to go to the counter for help . The food used to be great and the service WAS spectacular, don't recommend it don't go no good. Oh and it smells like human waste under those pallets in the back.

Awesome decorations

This place is sooo awesome! Everyone is so nice and friendly. Everyone must go. Foods awesome too!

Cricket country kitchen is still a neighborhood favorite if you want a good down home meal with no frills and friendly people. Cricket is a place that locals have loved for decades and it shows. The kind of place where you order coffee and they leave the pot on the table. Where your seat neighbor will suggest menu options if you can't make up your mind what to order. If I have a hankering for biscuits and gravy, Cricket never lets me down. Weekends get really busy, and I suggest visiting on a weekday to avoid the wait.

We stopped in for breakfast and were treated to a wonderful meal in a great atmosphere. I had Grandma's French Toast ( made with cinnamon swirl bread) and it was really really good. This place is a full-on museum of fun!

For those of you old enough to remember a show called Cheers, you'll remember it was a friendly neighborhood bar.Well, cricket country kitchen is the equivalent for great breakfast and lunch, and when i'm there, I feel like Norm! The menu is classic diner food, ranging from breakfast with Chicken Fried steak, biscuits and gravy, (a particular favorite of mine) to possibly, what is the best BLT in town. Everything is made from scratch every day, including roasting their turkey and beef for their open face sandwiches and delicious homemade soups just like mom made. Monday through friday, they have blue plate specials, which include a rather large serving of their peach cobbler, which is spectacular! My granddaughter, who is 2, is a particular fan of the restaurant and loves all the servers who are wonderfully kind to her (and me!) Whether you're there on your own or with a massive group, the service is wonderful. The food comes out in a timely manner and the prices are incredible value. I can't recommend this place enough and to prove it, we usually go at least once a week and have them for probably the last five years since we found it. Ignore any negative reviews, because they're absolutely wrong! This is the place to come if you're hungry because you'll go home full and happy! If any of the staff are reading this, we love you all!

Nice breakfast & lunch spot on Auburn Blvd. Good portions & nice people. Plenty of parking. This place is good for single or group diners. Keep in mind they close at 2pm so get in while you can. Food in pics: Open Face Meatloaf Double Bonanza Sausage, Scramble breakfast

Home run! A friend referred me here and cannot have been most happiest that we have this as our number one fave breakfast place now. Yolanda was the perfect one to have set the tone. Aggie the cook (14 years with this place) had our meal out in a blink of an eye and my dude said the chef knows how to make a medium rare steak. The best he's ever had! The brew fresh coffee and bring the container to your table. Definitely recommended, parking in the back, dishes for vegans too!

This mom and pops cafe has amazing food, country style atmosphere, great customer service. I had the grandma's French toast which was delicious! And my husband had the country fried steak which was out of this world! We'll definitely be back again.

Ask the Community - Cricket Country Kitchen

Does Cricket's Kitchen still participate in the frequent diner punch card?

Do they make a thanksgiving sandwich?

We have a hot turkey sandwich with mashed potatoes and cranberry sauce.

Does it have a back room or a separated area for a men's breakfast when it first opens?

There are separate rooms but they are not entirely private just spaces around the restaurant.

At the end, we ended up seating outside and all the time wasted could have been to help other people. Our server was friendly, but since we were outside she would take awhile to come outside. The meatloaf was a big plate and my husband could not finish it. He did say it was a bit salty. The shrimp and grits were great (would recommend). My son's chicken tenders were great as well and looked homemade and not like it came from a frozen bag. There is paid parking around the area. Do make sure to make reservations before coming in, luckily a table opened up and the host was able to get us seated promptly. The seats we were given were near the bar and it was only the one bartender taking care of his bar and the tables which lead to not having the best service. Again we get it was the bartenders area but you would think since it's the weekend you would have two bartenders working that area. When it comes to the food, my wife's brisket Benedict was pretty solid nothing crazy but my meal was probably the worst one.... When I hear the words " anything scramble" i think of a bunch of ingredients mixed together as a scramble. This was more of just scrambled eggs with some fried avocados on top. These breakfast "potatoes" were also dissatisfying and flavorless. I've worked in the restaurant business and can tell you that I hated when people sent plates back so I'm not one to send my plates back and make complaints, but this one was very close to me breaking that personal rule. Personally I don't think I'll ever come back at least not for their breakfast hours.

My wife got a chai latte, cold, and I ordered the hot chocolate and a danish. I won't "rage" about a basic hot chocolate, but..... Unlike other coffee shops, chain or otherwise, this had an actual good balance of burning hot, yet creamy and chocolatey. If your inner child kicks in, definitely try their hot cocoa. The danish was good....light and airy pastry, and the fruit in the middle was tart. They also have specials which are actual full meals, but unable to comment on those. For a hot drink and pastry, though... definitely recommend

I ordered a Guinness and we moved to the back area as our group grew too large to have at the small front tables. They have breakfast and lunch available and had an impressive menu for what I thought was just a bar. We asked our server what she recommended and she said the waffle fries and French toast are great. While we passed on the French Toast (this time- I'm more of a savory breakfast person) we did get waffle fries ($7) and their Zebra Special ($15.50) that comes with two eggs, meat (ham, bacon or sausage), hash browns, and choice of toast. We paid a little extra to get a biscuit with gravy instead of toast. We also ordered jello shots for the group and it was very fun having morning jello shots with breakfast. They have a lot of televisions here and seem to serve as a watch party destination for a lot of sports fans. They also have an outdoor area, which is great for groups, but we also noticed that the small of people smoking wafted into the inner dining area from outside which was a drawback for me. The staff here was so nice and attentive and we had so much fun with our group here. Would highly recommend checking them out.

It's been years since I've been, mainly because of the long wait times and no reservations on weekends. As a planner, I gravitate toward places where I can make a reservation. However, it was a special occasion, so we committed to it on a holiday weekend. The wait was estimated at 1.5 hours for a party of 7, but it ended up being closer to 40 minutes, which honestly wasn't bad at all. The patio and waiting area are gorgeous and make the wait worth it on a beautiful day. Great shade from the trees, solid service, and a really nice ambiance overall. The menu is massive with a little bit of everything and huge portions, so it's quite hard to decide. I settled on the Madame Cristo because it sounded decadent and somewhere between lunch and breakfast, which felt perfect for brunch. And decadent it was. The cheesy ham and béchamel blended into this super rich, fatty bite balanced by the French toast it was sandwiched between. The eggs on top were almost overkill, but still a welcome addition for some protein. The chipotle raspberry jam was surprisingly good too, almost like a smoky raspberry salsa that added sweetness and helped cut through some of the richness. The potatoes were standard and nothing to write home about. It was definitely a lot, but pretty good and exactly what you expect from a brunch spot like this. I'm not going to say the food is mind-blowing, but it's solid and they have unique dishes, great vibes, and something for everyone to enjoy. Nice to see that Tower Cafe is still doing well after all these years and remains a great place to celebrate special occasions.
