For the love of diners. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I've posted before that one of my affinities are those good ol' fashioned diners, especially the ones you find in small towns, a bit worn around the edges and "if-the-walls-could-talk" kinda joints.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] ...and serving none of those pretentious plant-based milks of oat, almond, or soy in their specialty coffees with smoked rosemary or other fresh herbs for aromatic flair and garnished with high falutin junk just to appear trendy, self-important, superior, or sophisticated, often in a way that seems exaggerated and pompous. Gag me with a spoon as they used to say. (End of rant. ) Pardon my digression. I stopped by to see a close buddy and he treated me to a classic breakfast, just the way I like it. Simple. No avocado, mango or quince crap added, just eggs, bacon, hash browns and sourdough toast basted with butter. Not even a sprig of anything green. End of story. There, I said the silent part out loud for many of you.

Creekside Diner has become one of our go-to spots for breakfast and or lunch--and for good reason. The menu offers a great selection, at a good value, and everything we've tried so far has been tasty and satisfying. The mushroom burgers are delicious, and well-made. My personal favorite is the Country Fried Steak--comfort food done right! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The service is usually very good, and the atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We find ourselves coming back here more and more. Definitely a solid choice if you're in the area and craving a hearty, no-fuss meal. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Not a fancy diner, but the right amount of delicious food and friendly.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

This is one of those off the beaten track, down the road, tucked in a strip mall classic breakfast spots. No matter how many we hit, they never seem to disappoint. The place could definitely use some new tabletops and a good scrubbing, but that actually might ruin the divey breakfast diner feel of the place. Service here is a tag team effort with every one pitching in to make sure the food gets to the customer good and hot. Speaking of food - it is delicious and plentiful. They offer up just about the crispiest hash browns and bacon I've ever had. Prices are ridiculously reasonable making the value here incredible! That's what happens when you're not paying midtown prices. Do yourselves a favor and hit the road for the Creekside Diner. You certainly won't leave hungry.

Found this place while taking a weekend drive with my husband. We like to fine new towns with mom and pop restaurants. The restaurant is on the older side but I don't mind that. I do have to say it was too dark , half of the lights were not on or not working ? They have sports stuff on the walls and other random stuff but seemed fitting for a small town. My opinion the floors could use a good vacuum however I did notice a steady stream of people coming in to eat or pick up orders. The wait staff were friendly and pretty quick. The food was good. The gravy ( how my husband rates a place) was really good and his biscuit was fluffy. My omelette was good. All in all it was a nice little stop.

In the past, the staff would prepare my salad as I ordered, but this time I was told to place my order with the cashier and wait for it instead. I decided to try their seasonal Peach & Goat Cheese Salad and added a side of mixed turkey (both dark and white meat). I requested the caramelized pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, and dressing on the side since I wasn't sure I'd enjoy the sweet toppings. The salad looked decent at first, but once I got home, I quickly realized the peaches were old, bland, and completely lacking flavor. It was such a disappointment, especially considering it's the middle of July, when peaches should be at their peak. There were only a few strawberries scattered throughout, and the ratio of fruit and red onions to the large amount of greens felt way off. Honestly, I hate when I can make a better salad at home. Experiences like this are a big reason why I don't visit Jack's Urban Eats very often. On the positive side, the staff were cordial and the atmosphere was relaxed. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to expectations. I'd skip the seasonal Peach & Goat Cheese Salad unless they improve the quality of the fruit.

The good: the service was excellent. I didn't feel like we waited for anything and I didn't feel like they were always there. The chicken fried steak was excellent and quite a lot of food. The teriyaki chicken itself was good and the rice was good. The bad: the vegetables which came underneath the teriyaki chicken seemed like they had been steamed in a microwave. They had an odd texture. It was a minor thing, but it was something I noticed so I'm including it in this review. Prices were a little higher than I expected, $22 for chicken fried steak? The ugly: N/A It's rare that I come to these particular restaurants and I don't order chicken fried steak or corned beef hash plates because I feel that's where their strength lies. But I was in the mood for lunch so I tried it. It was good, but I still think their breakfast menu is where they excel. I will continue to frequent these locations as their service is top-notch and their food is quite good.

I ordered a 1/2 cheeseburger, fries, and a side of ranch. The cheeseburger was good, but would have been great if they didn't put so much ketchup and mustard on it. They spread them on the bottom of the bun where they came into direct contact with a layer of cheese. It sounds innocent enough but there was so much ketchup, mustard, and oil from the cheese it created a negative friction event I bit into it. Ketchup and mustard squirted out from the sides of my burger and the bun shot off the top like a hockey puck. Luckily I caught it before it hit the floor, but my hand was coated with sticky condiments afterward. It was such a let down, because everything else about the burger like the patties, produce, bun, and cheese were great. On to the French fries... I have to say they serve a really large portion, maybe enough for two people, which I liked. However, they were just a little undercooked. Not that they were soggy, they just could have been a little browner and crisper. The ranch was great, but they didn't give me that much. I ran out before I finished stuffing my face with those fattening fried sticks of goodness. The cheeseburger was $8.99, the fries were $3.69, and ranch was $.45 which came to $13.13 before tax. The surprise was that they snuck a 4.0% service charge onto the bill without warning me. It only came to $.53, but still, you're supposed to disclose those things beforehand.

Right away, Mama Goose (the waitress confessed this as her nickname) greeted me with a no nonsense and friendly attitude. This is a person you would hope to greet you, and at the same time you would never want to cross. The interior was very throwback to a time when this diner likely first experienced its hay-day several decades ago. Everything was clean, and the bathroom was so big, it was the size of my first apartment in San Francisco. Water refills were fast, and I ordered an omelette with no meat. It was very tasty, but the potatoes really stole the show with its perfectly crisp and seasoned portions. The prices are very fair/affordable. I felt welcomed here, just like I was visiting a friend in their home. It is clear that regular patrons keep coming back, and all are remembered by the staff. I highly recommend this experience!
