My lunch date, Coco. I love a place that allows well-behaved dogs on the patio.
Carol B.

OMG! How have I missed this place!! I have lived in the area a couple of years and have driven by but never stopped. Today, on the way home from an errand, I pulled in to have lunch. I had an amazing cheeseburger (actually cooked TO ORDER) and my lunch date had a hamburger, no buns, no condiments. Both were - by far - the best I have had in forever..., I mean forever... I will be returning often and, once I get through every single item on this menu, I will update my review. For now, get in here ASAP for yummy yummy yummy food!

Didn't get the joker!
Young C.

Great friendly service. Yes, they have let you pick a card and if you get a joker, your meal is on the house. No, I did not pick the joker. They're know for double grounded meat, and you can taste the difference in the texture. Burger was delicious and hot. They are also served with criss cut fries. It is bit far from where I live, but I'll definitely be back whenever I'm in Carmichael.

Beef Wellington sliders

The service was very friendly! From the moment we walked in they were very attentive. We were taking about getting the beef Wellington sliders but hadn't ordered yet and they were already calling it out to the kitchen to get it started, then confirmed when we ordered, that we were getting it. Apparently it takes longer to make (probably took like 15-20 minutes to get when all was said and done). We also ordered the skips burger with waffle fries. They also saw that we didn't order anything else and easier us if we wanted to half our burger cut in half, which was super attentive of them. We sat ourselves down and our burgers came out quite quickly. The bun was soft and had a nice sheen/glazy appearance. The burger itself is default medium cooked. It was a little bloody, but the flavor was good. Overall the burger was done really well, had a nice flavor balance and came out so fresh. It almost reminded me of in-n-out in some ways but so much better. The waffle fries were very crispy and was well salted. The salt was kinda chunky! I wished I had more fries through The beef wellington came out hot and fresh. The outside is a puff pastry and theres pieces of tender beef inside. This was also very well seasoned. I didn't try the sauce but I heard it was like a vinaigrette. Restaurant was small, and busy, but there was still adequate seating. There's two bathrooms inside, they were clean. Parking is kind of limited in the lot, but there's also street parking. Overall, I would highly recommend Skip's Kitchen!

Mushroom burger

Update: food was fantastic! I had the mushroom burger! And my husband had the bacon cheddar burger. Each bite was satisfying and the meat was moist and just yummy! From the moment we walked in, the young man (Cooper) behind the counter was so engaging. Prices are good...soda IS NOT $5/cup! so happy about that!! Waiting now for meal and think we found a great neighborhood spot!

Western burger with sweet potato fries

Finally stopped in for the highlyrecommended burgers at Skip's kitchen. There's a much larger dining area than I expected from driving by and the outdoor seating is ample as well. By the time 12:15pm on a Monday rolled around there was no seating, the place was absolutely packed with happy customers. The manager, possibly the owner (or possibly Skip himself?) was super animated and helpful and greeted every single person as he ran around, making sure everybody had what they needed took orders made suggestions filled up sodas and made our dining experience top-notch. He was back at the register to take our order and explained that the burgers are served quite pink unless you order them well done where you will not see any pink. This was very helpful because at another burger place I ordered mine medium, and it seemed like it was raw, so I made sure to ask to have it done medium well with ever so slight amount of pink which it was done perfectly. My dining friends said even if the burger didn't taste good that they'd be back just because of the happy manager's enthusiasm. We ordered the mushroom Swiss Burger, the Western Burger, and the Asian salad with Diet Cokes. The Swiss Burger was the best ever, the Western Hamburger was pretty darn good. Our sweet potato fries (ordered crip) were tasty but could've been better if really crisp. The plain Asian Salad was very good( optional beef or chicken could have been added). I can't wait to come back and try the steak sandwich and to experience watching the manager's happy demeanor and awesome service again.

Well, that was delicious! I heard that Skip's has one of Sac's best burgers and got to try it for myself today. Not a ton of parking, but I had no problem finding a spot. The restaurant was full and the word that comes to mind is...HOSPITALITY! Skip's son was working the register, helped me decide on what to order, gave me a cup to enjoy a drink while I waited for my to-go order & was constantly interacting with customers & coworkers. When I got to the car, I found fries in the box with my burger, so I'm guessing that was a bonus for being a first-time guest. Or, maybe fries come with the burger! Either way, I loved it. The bun was soft, the meat was juicy and the mushrooms, swiss & bacon onion jam were sooooo good! I REALLY appreciate the nice, thick, full-sized napkins too. Seriously. Thank you Skip for providing an appropriate napkin for a juicy hamburger! I can't wait to go back!

We just finished our first visit to Skip's Kitchen, and the experience was absolutely top-notch. From the moment we arrived, the service was warm, attentive, and welcoming--and the food was outstanding. We ordered the Pork Sliders, Western Burger, Onion Rings, Waffle Fries, and sodas. My wife mentioned that the two Pork Sliders were on the smaller side, while the Western Burger was so generously stacked it took some strategy to get that first bite! In the end, though, we were both completely full and very happy with our meal. It was also great to see the owner actively involved, making sure every guest was well taken care of despite how busy things were. That kind of hands-on attention really elevates the whole dining experience. We'll definitely be back--next time I'm looking forward to trying the Beef Wellington Sliders!

Out running errands with my brother and he asked me to find a nice spot for lunch. Google Maps showed Skip's Kitchen was nearby so decided to give it a try. Immediate impression was positive. The owner (Skip) was running the front counter and greeting every customer that walked in. After looking over their menu we decided on the Bacon Cheeseburger and the Western burger. Both with crosscut fries. I noticed they had one of my favorite beers on tap so I ordered the Deschutes Black Butte Porter (served in an ice cold glass ) and my brother opted for a fountain soda. We picked our card from the deck (Joker gets a free meal) and sat at our table. Food arrived pretty quickly. Burgers were cooked to perfection and the fries were hot and tasty. Overall this was an excellent stop and we look forward to returning. Kudus to Skip and his team for creating a welcoming atmosphere and a place to get good food fast.

If I could give Skips 10 stars I would. This is a place I've always wanted to check out. Finally was able to visit. I noticed the guy at the counter very friendly and upbeat with the customers ahead of me. As if they were friends. He had the same vibe with me and my daughters. Extremely impressed. His name is Caleb. The owners son. In fact, everyone that walked in got a warm, friendly greeting. It was as if we were guests in his own home making sure we were all happy and take care of. I ordered the pastrami sandwich. The menu is reasonably priced. A nice surprise since most restaurants are outrageous considering the portion sizes. My pastrami was absolutely delicious. Tender meat. Perfectly seasoned. Fries hot and crispy. I will be back again and recommend Skips to everyone. Thank you, Skips, for the yummy food and 10 star service!

Western burger with crisscut fries

Today was my first time coming and I was amazed by the delicious food and exceptional service. I loved the cozy vibes this place provided. Both Caleb and Lilly were some of the friendliest servers I have ever met. I will definitely be coming back to try everything!

Skip's Kitchen is always a great experience. You order first at the counter and before you pay you get to choose a card- if you get the Joker your meal is free. We've never picked the Joker, but it's always fun. They offer burgers, sandwiches, salads and other bites and the burgers are our favorite item to order. They also have a variety of fries available, but I always choose their default criss cut (waffle) fries. On our latest visit I chose the three cheese burger and my husband got the bacon cheddar. They're cooked to order and the default is medium, but they'll cook them to your preference. The burgers are a great size, flavorful and so juicy they make a mess. Definitely at least a two napkin burger, maybe more. The portion size is great too, you'll definitely be full or potentially have leftovers unless you have an extra big appetite- but then I'd recommend some of their appetizers like the beef wellington bites. The drinks are self serve, but the team here will bring your food to the table and clear it after. It gets really busy around dinner time. While we were there a bunch of people were picking up to-go orders and families started coming in. There is a small parking lot outside as well as street parking and it's definitely a popular neighborhood spot. The indoor and outdoor seating are both great options, bigger groups can fit outside a bit better but it's comfortable and has that warm, welcoming family restaurant vibe.

Do they make a thanksgiving sandwich?

They do have a Turkey sandwich on their menu and as with everything at Skip's, it's amazing.

From the parking lot it doesn't look like much, even from the inside it doesn't look like much. But the food, the food was the star! That said, the pastrami sandwich was really good. I was hoping the fried zucchini sticks were made from scratch. Unfortunately, they weren't, but this was just a first time seeing and trying experience. I'm new to the area. The Pepsi was sparkling fresh. Plus+ Plus+ in my book! The restaurant was clean. The cashier was really super nice. I appreciated that. All in all the food was delicious. What might have made the visit better: Being acknowledge through a greeting when I walked up; I stood there waiting for about 3 minutes- ready to order. The owner was standing in front of the cash register looking at a piece of equipment (a headset), but I think this prevented the cashier from taking my order, until he finished what he was doing, which didn't have anything to do with her taking my order. I'm only mentioning it because I could tell the cashier wanted to take my order, but she wasn't able to. It's just a nice acknowledgement to patrons. I KNOW he didn't do this on purpose. He was just preoccupied. Also 1/4 of my pastrami sandwich bun had no pastrami. BUT having said that, they buttered and grilled the bread, and the flavor and crispiness was PERFECT! So it kind of made up for that. I'm thinking the empty 1/4 bun was probably just oversight. As you could tell the way they prepared the food, they do a really great job in flavor and also packaging. So I definitely think it was not intentional. I spent a total of approx $26 on my visit for a combo meal plus adding on an extra large Pepsi and zucchini stick. The zucchini stick at $5.99 is a bit pricey IMO for the amount in the bag. I think it's about 8 sticks the size of a mozzarella stick. The soda $3.45 was a good price for the sparkling fresh fizz! The combo meal price at $17 upgraded was decent. I'd like to do comparison experience for pastrami and zucchini. I'm new to the area. I appreciate they gave me 3 banana peppers with my pastrami. I'd like to come back and try their cheeseburgers next time with a large Pepsi. The Pepsi rocks! You should definitely try this place. I'd suggest sticking with fries in the combo though if you're a zucchini fan like me.

Totally different from the Seoul sandwich. We got it with sausage. Scrumptious. The eggs were fluffy and the sandwich was made to perfection. To be honest. I think these could be some of the best breakfast sandwiches in the city. Just incredible. The service was good. They were very busy other orders. Staff is extremely friendly and gave me a tip for a burger I should try next time. If the burgers taste as good as the breakfast then I'm in for a treat. They also have wings and tenders. This is a must try spot.

Flaming Grill has been serving Sacramento since 2007, and after trying it, I get why they've lasted this long. This is the kind of spot people are going to wish they found sooner. It's casual, but still has way more vibe than you'd expect from a spot tucked inside the mall. The owner was super friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcomed right away. Food came out fast, portions were huge, and the flavors were even bigger. We tried the gator bites, smokehouse burger, and pastrami sandwich. The smokehouse burger was insane. Juicy, loaded, messy in the best way, and made with quality ingredients you can actually taste. If you're craving a real-deal, fatty, satisfying burger, this is the spot. The pastrami sandwich was stacked, flavorful, and super filling. The garlic fries were AMAZING!! Best ones we've had, hands down. Super garlicky and the fries were crispy without getting soggy. The gator bites were fun to try too, especially because their menu is so different from your average burger place. They also have exotic meats like elk, bison, venison, and wild boar, which makes it feel like a spot you can keep going back to and still try something new.
