Gluten-free Udi toast - thank you for providing quality GF bread!!!
    Janice A.

Always a great place to come out for a meal. The ambiance is relaxed and casual, and we're always seated right away. Our server, Jordan, is consistently friendly and helpful with navigating the many menu options. Today, I tried one of their special items in celebration of 45 years in service--definitely worth it! Check out my pics!

Ohhh dear sweet Brookfields, I hate to give you a three but I must admit, what I love most about you, which is your homemade cinnamon roll, was a BUST. My hubs and I have probably been to all the locations in the Sac area and almost each time we go, we get their cinnamon roll. This time around, the cinnamon roll was a little dry. I actually had to take it back. However, the homemade cheesecake with boysenberry compote was delish! I also enjoyed their chile verde skillet (extra veggies and avocado) with the side biscuit and gravy. I love a good biscuit and they have one of the BEST that keeps bringing me back!

Always love Brookfield's at Madison Ave. One of my favorite restaurants with a great menu. This time was for lunch with the Balsamic Salmon. Substituted the spinach for brown rice and mashed potatoes. With corn bread and raspberry tea, the food was amazing! Salmon was nicely grilled and delicious. Service here has always been great too. Nice atmosphere too. I also love breakfast here with the waffle breakfast and sweet potatoes pancakes breakfast especially. I love coming here!

    French dip

Was looking for some breakfast close by and stopped by here. The food was good, I got the California Benedict and my Husband got the French dip. The French dip was loaded with meat and the meat wasn't dry at all. Perfectly cooked. My eggs were perfectly poached but the bacon on it just seemed like too much, but was still yummy. My only complaint was that the potatoes and fries were lukewarm at best, and their ranch didn't seem like it was made in house. But still not a terrible experience and we will most likely be back in the future!

Dinner with friends went well here. The menu has a wide variety of options to suit every one. Love that I can order corned beef hash with scrambled eggs for dinner. Good portions and reliable good taste. This is my second visit here and yes, still good service in a clean dining room. The indoor seating is vast and can easy handle large parties as well. Before you leave pick up a big brownie to take home.

Food - I had the oatmeal. It was A Lot of food so be aware. If you like a lot of brown sugar you may need to ask for another scoop. It wasn't bad. My husband ordered the French Dip. The French fries were pretty tasty. They weren't greasy or undercooked. The sandwich was stacked with meat. We had to ask for refills on our drinks. Service - it was ok. I think she may have been working most of the tables. It wasn't busy but steady. She was get to the point; not a lot of small talk. Ambiance - it is decorated with the history of the restaurant. Very cute. It was clean, bright and welcoming. Definitely would eat here again

I met my mother here for breakfast. I thought everything was pretty average. I did love that cinamon roll! Service was really good too.

    Chile Verde Skillet

Coffee was great. It was strong and good. Potatoes were hard in the chili Verde so hard that I did not eat them. They were microwaved the flat iron steak was supposed to be medium rare and it was walking off the plate.

My son's chicken tenders were great as well and looked homemade and not like it came from a frozen bag. There is paid parking around the area. Do make sure to make reservations before coming in, luckily a table opened up and the host was able to get us seated promptly. The seats we were given were near the bar and it was only the one bartender taking care of his bar and the tables which lead to not having the best service. Again we get it was the bartenders area but you would think since it's the weekend you would have two bartenders working that area. When it comes to the food, my wife's brisket Benedict was pretty solid nothing crazy but my meal was probably the worst one.... When I hear the words " anything scramble" i think of a bunch of ingredients mixed together as a scramble. This was more of just scrambled eggs with some fried avocados on top. These breakfast "potatoes" were also dissatisfying and flavorless. I've worked in the restaurant business and can tell you that I hated when people sent plates back so I'm not one to send my plates back and make complaints, but this one was very close to me breaking that personal rule. Personally I don't think I'll ever come back at least not for their breakfast hours.

We got our drinks fairly quickly, but it took 25 minutes for us to get our salad with no meat. That was a little disappointing given that it was just a salad and also, someone else ordered after us but received their food before we did. We ran out of time and ended up having to take our salads to go. My friend really liked her mocha latte, but my lavender latte did not really have the lavender flavor in it and the salads were just OK. I'm not sure if they were shortstaffed and things were rushed, but I can't say that I was impressed. It's a super cute spot, but the energy was different. The customer service was just OK. Not super friendly, but not rude either. It gave the energy of "tired". Our experience was pretty mediocre, but I do plan on checking it out again. We talk about first impressions being important but sometimes it takes a second visit to really get the true feel of a place so I will definitely try it again and make an overall decision at that time.

We asked our server what she recommended and she said the waffle fries and French toast are great. While we passed on the French Toast (this time- I'm more of a savory breakfast person) we did get waffle fries ($7) and their Zebra Special ($15.50) that comes with two eggs, meat (ham, bacon or sausage), hash browns, and choice of toast. We paid a little extra to get a biscuit with gravy instead of toast. We also ordered jello shots for the group and it was very fun having morning jello shots with breakfast. They have a lot of televisions here and seem to serve as a watch party destination for a lot of sports fans.
