Had to go with the flapjacks aka pancakes and they did a swell job on them. Fluffy and crisp edges. Lots of flavor compared to the typical flour taste from other pancake houses. Huge menu with lots of options. They also serve mimosas and some bottle beers. update: time to patronize and review local diners. We have been here many times and decided to offer an updated review. This establishment has been here for years and is always filled with patrons everyday. So what did we order. 1) basic breakfast: homemade sausage patty, 2 eggs, pancakes. The sausage patty was large had a nice flavor. Two eggs were a little too runny. Pancakes were good; fuffy, sweet, and nice size. 2) Bacon cheeseburger: very tasty juicy burger that came with all the appropriate fixins. the entire burger was covered with crispy bacon. it also arrived with a ton of hot fries. 3) Monday special: Homemade chicken enchiladas. this entree comes with two shredded chicken enchiladas covered in a mild sauce, basic refried beans, and seasoned spanish rice. Not the best but decent. 4) spinach salad: this entree looked fresh and inviting. fresh spinach leaves, covered with fresh strawberries, pieces of cold chicken, avocados slices, and real crispy bacon bits. dressing arrived on the side. very nice salad even with the cold chicken. 5) garden omelette: filled with veggies(spinach, bell peppers, onions, zucchini). my only complaint: slightly overcooked which makes a fuffy omelette into a somewhat tough scrambled egg omelette. This dish also comes with 2 large pancakes. there were a few little mishaps. it took some time before our wait staff took our order and even longer before our food arrived. The eggs were a little runny, omelette was a tad overcooked, and cold pieces of chicken in the salad. Hence just 3 stars. read more

Fantastic old school diner with friendly employees and fantastic customer service. They are known for their pancakes, or flapjacks. We ordered their daily special of carrot cake flapjacks, and their regular flapjacks with strawberry fruit topping and whipped topping. The pancakes were huge! We couldn't finish them. We also got eggs and a sausage patty that we split. They have a great deal on their mimosa flight with 4 different flavors to try. I would definitely come back and try some of their other options, come hungry! read more

When you come in, there's a coat rack near the door. There's a waiting area to the right with limited seating. There's some tables (not booths) in a separate room in the back and an awkward booth facing the waiting area. On the opposite wall, there's another booth. There's some seating at the counter near to the cash register for a party of 2 on one side, and a party of 4 on the other side. Those are the only tables actually facing a TV, but they're also right in front of the kitchen. Staff will constantly be walking in front of you and having their backsides turned to you. All the other booths are along the wall on the left side. If you want to watch TV in those seats, you'd have to turn your neck to the left or right. When it comes to the food, I think it's great. I've had their eggs, bacon, pancakes, waffles, and strawberries. I don't like that the fruit topping for the waffles comes hot. You have to wait for it to cool down, and then the waffles get all soggy. I just ask for fresh fruit, which they only offer strawberries. They do give enough whipped cream, butter, and syrup for the waffles. The food is affordable, and the portions are nice. For the drinks, I've only had their mimosas. They taste great, but they're more like juice. I hardly taste any sparkling wine. The service is okay. The food comes out quickly, but when you need a staff member, it takes a while to get their attention. Even when I'm waiting for the check, it can take several minutes to get the receipt. It's awkward to stand at the register and wait for a staff member to ring you (and a couple of other people) up on the weekend because there's already a lot people in the waiting area, so there's just a crowd of people standing there. If you're the one sitting in the waiting area, you have people's backsides in front of your face. Despite all that, I do like this diner. I hope they add more fresh fruit topping options and add more sparkling wine to the mimosas. I need to come back and try items on their lunch menu, though. read more

Cute little spot to go to. It looks like a local little diner. We were seated right away and we could see the kitchen counter area and the servers could talk to us from both sides of the booth. The servers looked like they all work together and help each other with the tables. The food came out quick and steaming hot. They were all good portions. My son had a different menu than us sand his had the breakfast special which our menus didn't have. We got the receipt and you can scan a QR code to pay your bill and leave which is nice. Went here with my wife. Food was ok. But, our total for two was $47.83. Waitress brings the device to our table to scan card, I select email receipt, and select 20% tip and sign. Two things then mysteriously happened. I was checking my bank transactions, and saw an $81 charge for this place. The tip was taken correctly, but another dish, $19.99 for steak and eggs was added. Called. Talked to someone named Joel who told me I could come back. Well, I live 35 min away Joel, and would have to miss some work and use $15 in gas. So then the answer was "sorry". Kathy was our server. If you go here, first the food is just ok. There are much better places. The toasted rooster down the street has way way better food. If you do go, and you get a waitress named Kathy with pink hair, better check your bill, twice. read more

I'm a regular here and this is a go-to spot for my dad and I who meet and eat once a week. This is an honest, retro diner where the food is diner standard and fairly priced. They feature mature waitresses who get to know you and remember your drink preference and needs within just a couple visits, and will ask about your family from after the first time they meet them. The hostesses remember where you like to be seated. How's your kid doing? He's getting so big, etc. In a cold corporate world in which you feel like a number, you'll always feel seen here, and welcomed! It's a diner, not a gastropub, so this place is about roadside comfort standard fair-- good pancakes, decent burgers, a strong club sando, good enough salads, nice omelettes, and well browned, crisp hash browns. Pro tips: They will sub one pancake for toast at no charge, rare in this market, and delicious! The "Senior and Light Meals" omelets are hands down one of the best values (10.29!!) in the Sacramento breakfast market, bar none. You'll get a two egg omelet that eats like a three egger, a good slab of crisp hash browns, plus toast or a pancake. They'll most often will make other omelettes for you not listed as choices, but do remember, *that's up to them. On occasion the burger buns are not well caramelized and tend to not hold up to the moisture through the entire eat, so if that's important to you, specify that to the server--they're always happy to accommodate your needs! If you want any pink in your burger, you need to say so. The French fries are nearly always hot and crisp, crunch when you bite them, and are well salted. They have fantastic milkshakes, awesome after a burger on a hot day! The head waitress, Jennifer, loves Disneyland, and loves to chat about it and exchange stories! So fun. If you love the park, tell her! Room for improvement;: The Daily specials tend to be meh, though there are a few exceptions. On occasion they feature a delicious chicken enchiladas special, for example. If they'd throw two fried eggs atop that, I'd order it every time I was in for breakfast! I would also love to see Huevos Rancheros on the menu as well. During Covid they had tables out in front of the diner in the shade and a nice patio in back. I miss that on mild summer mornings! I'd love raw veggies and ranch dressing as a sides option, even at a modest upcharge as a sub for fries. The tables desperately need balancing/new feet on the legs. A wobbly table is a foodie buzzkill... This is a great place for you if you miss the 70's and 80's, and you won't find friendlier people or more honest food. We came up from Escalon to attend the Sacramento Society show. It was a fun experience. The decor is based on early 60's diner style with booth seating . The superstore between booths is wonderful. The waitress was quick attentive and made our visit everything we wanted. Food was terrific. My husband had biscuits and gravy. I had the pork chops. The service was great from showing up and paying the bill. I was checked on just the right amount and not rushed. The parking lot has enough space. Decided to revisit Flapjacks, the last time I came here was before the pandemic and fire they had. The ambiance was the typical Diner style restaurant. It was a friendly greeting when I walked in. The waitress who took my order was friendly and helpful however the wait for my food was a bit long. Other people who had been in less than I had had received their plates. I had to ask for mine. It did come out hot but could have been a little hotter. The taste of the food was good better than eating at a Dennys but from what I can remember the food use to be a little more tastier. I don't like when I get my check before I can get two bites in. That tells me they have no intention of coming back to see if I want something else. I am unsure if I will return. read more

I had an early morning Dr appt so I decided to stop by Flapjacks and order breakfast to go. After looking at their extensive menu I decided to order sausage patty, eggs ( no runny whites) and substitute hash browns instead of pancakes. My order came fairly quick which was great! When I got home (about a 10 minute drive):I was so disappointed that I had pancakes and no hash browns. But I thought "oh well" and took my first bite of the pancake and it wasn't fully cooked, there was raw batter in the middle. I called them to let them know not only did I get pancakes but they were not edible. The lady that answered the phone asked if I could return to the restaurant. Reluctantly I obliged and returned with the entire meal. They looked at the pancakes and agreed they weren't fully cooked. So I asked them if they would remake everything since my eggs and sausage were cold. No sorry for the inconvience or anything. Got home really ready to eat by now and couldn't believe hash browns were cold, sausage didn't look like it was well done and the eggs had runny whites. I didn't bother to call back because I didn't want to drive back and just threw my breakfast in the trash! This is one of those old, holdover neighborhood eateries that has been there forever! I heard one server say that it has been there from the 1970's, but I think it might be longer. However, it is very clean, no tape on the naugahide! As you would expect, they serve the neighborhood, and I saw lots of regulars walk in, nod to the servers, and seat themselves. The menu was heavy on ham and eggs, but they also offer "hamburger" with their eggs. The county potatoes were not country fries, but cut up potatoes fried on the grill. The food was well prepared, but nothing special to look at. Tasted good, too. I asked for an out of the way seat so I could sit, eat and read a while.
