crack on edge of lens

Here's the summary if you don't want read the long version. I've had it with Visionworks. I've now had three sets of lenses crack due to their cheap, low-quality materials and incompetent lab work. Every single time, they've tried to blame anything but their own shoddy craftsmanship. The lenses were consistently fitted improperly, causing stress fractures where they met the frames -- a basic issue any decent optical lab should catch and correct. But it gets worse: they refused to stand behind their product. No apology, no accountability, no real help. Just a frustrating cycle of excuses and the same poor-quality replacements destined to fail again. And don't get me started on their customer service -- rude, dismissive, and utterly useless. You'd get more empathy and problem-solving from a vending machine. I spent good money expecting basic quality and service, and instead got a masterclass in how not to treat your customers. Avoid Visionworks like the plague. Visionworks' motto: "If you were hoping for glasses that help you see, you're in the wrong hell. Our frames are crooked, our lenses are cursed, and our customer service is powered by apathy and spite. At Visionworks, we don't just disappoint--you'll leave questioning the point of sight itself. That's our promise. That's our punishment." Long version of complaint I had one of the absolute worst experiences ever with both the quality of the eyewear and customer service. I purchased frames and lenses on 4/16/24. 4 months later, I noticed that the edge of the lenses looked like there were small white dots that within days grew into bigger cracks along the edge. After the manager at Visionworks examined the lenses, she said it was not my fault and they would send them back to the lab to have the lenses replaced. The manager mentioned that the lab messed up and something was done incorrectly when they cut and shaped the lenses. The lenses were OK for another 4 months until they started cracking again on the edges. Visionworks replaced them a 2nd time at the end of August. On 4/18/2025, almost a year after I received the glasses, the cracking started again in the corner of the left lens as shown in the picture below. Clearly, Visionworks has issues with either the quality or extremely poor technicians who keep repeating the same mistakes. When I went into this Visionworks location, the "optician" looked at the lenses and said he had no idea why they keep doing this. It could be alcohol or what was used to clean the lenses. I stated that this has happened 3 times with these lenses and frames and I have never had any problems with any other glasses doing this in 40+ years since I have been wearing glasses. I have been cleaning the lenses with the cleaning products I purchased at Visionworks. The more I talked to this joke of an optician, the more I realized how useless he really was. They should not let him even speak to customers. He quickly escalated the situation by looking up my information, then saying he could not do anything since I purchased the glasses a year ago. I asked him why he would not do anything if the glasses/frames are clearly defective or something has been repeatedly been done incorrectly in the lab. He had no answer and just smugly smirked, saying "sorry." I will never go back to Visionworks after this experience. If they cared about their customers at all, they would take corrective action with their labs and poor staff. The time and stress dealing with this horrible place is enough for me to tell everyone I know how bad they are. Just look at the other negative reviews regarding their lack of customer service. 04-21-2025 Response from customer service: We are truly sorry to hear about your recent experience with our Phoenix location. Our goal is to provide exceptional customer service and we are sorry this was not the experience we'd hope to provide. Unfortunately, Visionworks does not offer a warranty after one year from the date of purchase. Your feedback is important to us, We will be escalating your concerns and feedback to our leadership team to address this internally. Visionworks has once again failed tremendously at their goal, but they sure as hell succeeded in making me and other former customers hate this company even more.

Sadly, my son has suffered with mental illness for the past 11 years; the illness rendered him homeless over the past two years, resulting to his landing in Phoenix. In June, my son contacted me and let me know he was receiving help for his illness. And, in late July, I had the opportunity to travel to out to Phoenix from Dallas, to see my him and make a best effort to get him some of the things he was in desperate need of. Since my son had been without his eyeglasses since January and since he has always had a very strong eyeglasses prescription, being effectively blind and only seeing blurry images beyond about eight inches in front of his face, that which he needed most was eyeglasses! Because my son's prescription is so strong and because of his apparent mental incapacity, I did not want to take him to a store like America's Best or Lenscrafters, because I believed he warranted an extra level of attention, to achieve the best possible outcome. Well, after a little bit of reading reviews on Yelp* and weighing all options, I decided to give CPEC a call. Since I was only going to be in Phoenix for three days, I was elated when I was told that CPEC had an available appointment the following day. My son and I arrived on-time and were promptly greeted and given the necessary "new patient" forms. While I filled out the forms for my son, he was called to be seen. I was graciously invited to accompany him during the process. The examination technician who saw my son, was friendly and communicative, and when it became necessary for the technician to physically force my son's head and eyeball to be on the exact point it needed to be, in order to achieve the correct imagery, she showed compassion and gentleness in both her tone and touch. Next, my son was examined by Dr. Kelsey Harraghy. Dr. Harraghy above all, was equally compassionate and thorough! She was patient and attentive and, made me feel that my son was in the best of care. Her tone was gentle and caring and her bedside manner impeccable! Dr. Harraghy not only showed sincerity in ensuring my son's prescription was as exact as possible, but she also went the extra mile to find a contacts prescription that would work to give my son eyesight, until his eyeglasses order was completed and ready for pickup. The impact of Dr. Harraghy's caring cannot be overstated and it became apparent when my son placed the contacts in - having his sight restored after seeing only blurry for the previous six plus months - and his countenance as he observed himself in the mirror changed to one of an almost angelic quality. He appeared genuinely childlike and mesmerized at his ability to once again see. Thank you, Dr. Harraghy!! We then sat down to place the order for my son's glasses. Everything was presented with patience and caring and in a very low-pressure manner. From beginning to end, start to finish, CPEC took excellent care to ensure my son was made to feel appreciated and genuinely cared for. I am sincerely grateful for the staff at CPEC for showing my son and I the very best of humanity and kindness. Thank you, CPEC Staff!! I cannot recommend CPEC highly enough. I never knew you could feel a bait and switch going to a doctor, but we sure did! Called to inquire…read moreabout co-pay while debating between visiting them and visiting Costco and wanted to confirm that it would in fact just be a better idea to establish as a patient at a doctors office but clarified that we needed a contact lens fitting. Came in and verified insurance, had exam, and all of a sudden, as we're ready to leave, they asked for almost $400 more than what I was told on the phone as my co-pay PLUS an additional $45 for a "contact lense training" for a new wearer. Mind you, ALL of what they did, the exam, eyeglass script, and lense fitting (with new contact lenses wearer), would have been $120 each at Costco WITHOUT insurance. They literally LIED to me to guilt me to pay SOMETHING saying they could lose their license if I did not pay for service rendered or if they gave a discount. Not to mention, they were running late and the entire visit lasted longer than a typical Costco visit. What a waste of time and now I have to keep my fingers crossed that I can take my vision benefits to Costco in order to get a contact lens fitting without having to pay twice. Better frame selection at Costco and Eyeglass world as well as other shops.

I visited, rcvd my eye exam, & ordered new glasses on April 23, 2025 The time it took to receive my new lenses was longer than any vision outfit I've ever dealt with...over two weeks, & I'm 75 yrs old! When they arrived my regular lense glasses were fine. My sunglasses were a disaster. A small sliver of the lens just above the bifocal was accurate. The entire top half of the lens was out of focus. The bifocal was so low I had to tilt my head back to even use them. That was two weeks ago. It is June 2, 2025 as of this writing. I called AECC this morning for the status of my reconfigured sunglasses. The CSR could not even tell me if or when they'd be shipped! This is by far the worst new glasses purchase I've ever had. Who knows when I'll have my new sunglasses...properly made? I really loved the staff & the opthalmologist. This review pains me.
